Schema extension with unique value

I would like to know if it's possible to perform a schema extension to add a new field to active directory and then require that the value entered into the new field be unique between all users.
For example say I want to track computer to user assignment by adding a field to record the computers serial number. I want to make sure that the same computer is not assigned to 2 people so when I enter the serial number I would like AD to make sure it's
a unique value between all other users.
If this is possible any links to documentation on how it would be done would be much appreciated.
Thanks for the help

Hello,
why not using the already existing attributes that are empty on the account proeprties?
Be aware that changing the schema can result in loss of the domain if done wrong. If you still like to change the schema built a lab BEFORE doing this on production and test everything in detail in the domain to be sure not problems occur.
Additional keep in mind that own schema changes may result in problems when updating the schema with new versions from Microsoft.

  • How to UPDATE multiple rows in T1 with unique value from T2

    Hi,
    having on mind update query with where clause:
    WHERE (SELECT LEFT(ColumnName,7) FROM tblName) = emp2.ColumnName
    error:
    Subquery returned more than 1 value. This is not permitted when the subquery follows =, !=, <, <= , >, >= or when the subquery is used as an expression.
    The statement has been terminated.
    What am I suppose to change in WHERE clause....
    Note: there is always unique value in T2 while, in T1, there could be both, only one value to be updated or number of them that all need to be updated with that unique value from T2 (alias emp2)

    FROM  T2  as emp2
        WHERE (SELECT LEFT(column1,7) FROM T1 = emp2.column3

    Hi daredevil3011,
    Based on my test, the error is caused by where statement in the query. Just as the error message, in your where statement, there is a subquery “SELECT LEFT(ColumnName,7) FROM tblName” follows ”=”, this is not permitted in SQL Server.
    To fix this issue, please modify your query to like below:
    UPDATE T1
    SET column2 = emp2.column4
    FROM T2 as emp2
    WHERE LEFT(column1,7) = emp2.column3
    Reference:
    WHERE (Transact-SQL)

    Hi Collegue,
    For AMDP I have a table with material plant,i have to assign a unique number to each unique combination of material,plants into a dynamic column say sequence.
    Please suggest me how to proceed.

    hi
    Firstly, have a look at the following code to see how this can be implemented -
    REPORT ZTEST.
    perform test.
    class test definition.
      public section.
        methods: create_screen.
    endclass.
    class test implementation.
      method create_screen.
        data:  report_line(72),
               report_source like table of report_line.
        data: err_message(240),
              err_line type i,
              err_word(100).
        report_line = 'REPORT TEST.'.
        append report_line to report_source.
        report_line = 'PARAMETERS: P_TEST TYPE I.'.
        append report_line to report_source.
        report_line = 'START-OF-SELECTION.'.
        append report_line to report_source.
        report_line = 'WRITE : P_TEST.'.
        append report_line to report_source.
        syntax-check for report_source message err_message
                                       line    err_line
                                       word    err_word.
        if err_message is initial.
          INSERT REPORT 'ZZZTESTZZZ' FROM REPORT_SOURCE.
          SUBMIT ZZZTESTZZZ VIA SELECTION-SCREEN AND RETURN.
        endif.
      endmethod.
    endclass.
    form test.
      data test type ref to test.
      CREATE OBJECT TEST.
      call method test->create_screen.
    endform.
    As you can see, the report is being written dynamically. Once the INSERT REPORT statement is executed, the program is available. you can you external subroutine calls to pass the data between the programs now.

  • How to create surrogate key in dimension without unique value

    Hi, I have a dimension where there is no column with unique value. I want to add a surrogate key to replace the existing primary key which is derived from concatenating 3 columns(e.g. 'A'||'B'||'C'). I'm thinking of using sequence. But this won't allow me to link the dimension to fact table. How do I come up with surrogate key under this situation? Thanks. ~Tracy

    I'm actually trying to accomplish something similar myself.
    In my sources I've got two sorts of customers, ones that are directly reported, and ones whose information is provided with sales records (this is stored in module ODS).
    Of course identification is different, but in the datamart (module DWH) I'm sort of forced to use an equivalent way of loading (due to the way it first used to work). To accelerate lookups on dimensions, I copy the ODS surrogate key to DWH dimensions, but this does not work for the 'inbuilt' customers because they do not have a surrogate key in the ODS.
    They DO have means of unique identification, and at first I thought I could concatenate these (also 3) columns to use as identification code. Unfortunately this is VARCHAR2, where the surrogate key is (naturally) NUMBER.
    So now it looks like I'm forced to first build a table in ODS especially for these 'inbuilt' customers and assign a surrogate key (by sequence) to it, this way it conforms to how 'normal' customers are loaded into DWH.
    I guess you'll have to pull of the same trick, i.e. create a table with either only the 'translation' of D-code to a surrogate key or all information that is fed into the dimension, which then can be used as a lookup or as complete source when loading data into your datamart.
    Good luck, Patrick

  • Possible Bug with SqlDataAdapter.Fillschema DataColumn.Unique values are not populated.

    Hi all,
    I have done a lot of searching for answer to this problem this evening and so far have not found a solution but have found multiple people with the same issue.
    When using SqlDataAdapter.FillSchema() from a table that contains a Primary Key and columns with Unique constraints the only DataColumn.Unique value to be populated is the Primary Key.
    From reading the MSDN entry for dbDataAdapter this is not the intended functionality
    Can anyone suggest avenues to try or where to raise this issue if the method truly is not functioning as intended?

    Hello HarborneD,
    >>When using SqlDataAdapter.FillSchema() from a table that contains a Primary Key and columns with Unique constraints the only DataColumn.Unique value to be populated is the Primary Key.
    From your description, it is not very clear how your table is defined, I tried to reproduce this issue with below table(not sure if it is similar with yours, if not, please share it with us):
    CREATE TABLE [dbo].[T20141230] (
    [ID] INT NOT NULL,
    [Name] NCHAR (10) NULL,
    [Birthday] DATETIME NULL,
    PRIMARY KEY CLUSTERED ([ID] ASC),
    CONSTRAINT uc_PersonID UNIQUE ([Name])
    And the code used to full the schema:
    SqlConnection con = new SqlConnection(@"Server=(localdb)\Projects;Database=ADO.NET;Trusted_Connection=True;");
    try
    con.Open();
    SqlCommand cmd = new SqlCommand("select * from [T20141230]", con);
    SqlDataAdapter da = new SqlDataAdapter(cmd);
    DataTable dt = new DataTable();
    da.FillSchema(dt, SchemaType.Mapped);
    da.Fill(dt);
    catch (Exception)
    finally
    con.Close();
    However, I could all columns populated with values from database. I used VS2013, .NET 4.5 and windows 8.1, you could have a try with my demo.

  • Categorize a table with more than 500 formulas or unique values.

    How comes you can't categorize a table with more than 500 formulas or unique values? Can you change this?

    This error appears in GeoServer and SQLPLUS.

  • Auto-Suggest feature in Combo-box LOV is not displaying non-unique values

    Hi,
    I have an auto-suggest feature implementation on a combo-box lov that displays the name and email-id of a list of people. There are non-unique names in the back-end, for example :
    Abraham Mason [email protected]
    Abraham Mason [email protected]
    But when I use the auto-suggest feature and type in, say 'Ab', instead of showing both the Abraham Masons the auto-suggest displays only one of the values.
    As in the example above the email-ids of the two Abraham Masons are different and unique.
    If I use the conventional drop down menu of the combo-box then both the values are visible.
    Is the auto-suggest feature implemented in a manner so as to display only unique values?
    This is the implementation of the auto-suggest feature that I have done -
    <af:column headerText="#{bindings.RqmtAtLevel1.hints.Owner.label}"
    id="c23" sortable="true" filterable="true"
    sortProperty="Owner"
    filterFeatures="caseInsensitive">
    <af:inputComboboxListOfValues id="ownerId"
    popupTitle="#{ResourcesGenBundle['Header.SearchandSelect.Searchandselectanobjectusingad']}: #{bindings.RqmtAtLevel1.hints.Owner.label}"
    value="#{row.bindings.Owner.inputValue}"
    model="#{row.bindings.Owner.listOfValuesModel}"
    required="#{bindings.RqmtAtLevel1.hints.Owner.mandatory}"
    columns="#{bindings.RqmtAtLevel1.hints.Owner.displayWidth}"
    shortDesc="#{bindings.RqmtAtLevel1.hints.Owner.tooltip}"
    autoSubmit="true">
    <f:validator binding="#{row.bindings.Owner.validator}"/>
    <af:autoSuggestBehavior suggestedItems="#{row.bindings.Owner.suggestedItems}"/>
    </af:inputComboboxListOfValues>
    </af:column>

    Hi,
    don't find a bug entry about this, so if this indeed is a defect then this has not been filed. Do you have a test case ? If you have please zip it up and send it in a mail to me. My mail address is in my OTN profile (just click on my name until you get to the profile). Pleas rename the "zip" extension to "unzip" and mention the JDeveloper release you work with. The test case should work against the Oracle HR schema.
    If you need to track the issue, I suggest to file a service request with customer support yourself

  • Error 1000: AFx Library library exception: Sql encountered an error: These columns don't currently have unique values.

    Hi everyone,
    Using the Writer block, configured with a correct SQLAzure instance, I experience this error:
    - Error 1000: AFx Library library exception: Sql encountered an error: These columns don't currently have unique values.
    I have read that this error can be related to inheritance problems, but my table does not have inheritances of any kind:
    CREATE TABLE [dbo].[my_table](
    [my_float] [float] NULL
    ) ON [PRIMARY]
    GO
    Writer block parameters:
    Comma separated list of columns to be saved:
    temp      (from Bike Rental UCI Dataset)
    Data Table name: [dbo].[my_table]
    Comma separated list of datatable columns:
    [my_float]
    The experiment from which I have extracted the writing part was able to correctly write to DB until few days ago. Is it possible that some changes in the platform are causing this issue or am I doing something wrong?
    Thank you and best regards,
    FV

    Hi Maureen,
    Yes, the scenario is correct. On SQL profiler I can't see any SQL operation that can lead to that kind of error, but as you were saying it was worth trying anyway having that error message.
    New test scenario:
    CREATE TABLE [dbo].[my_table_identity](
        [ID] [int] IDENTITY(1,1) NOT NULL,
        [my_float] [float] NULL,
     CONSTRAINT [PK_my_table_identity] PRIMARY KEY CLUSTERED
        [ID] ASC
    )WITH (PAD_INDEX  = OFF, STATISTICS_NORECOMPUTE  = OFF, IGNORE_DUP_KEY = OFF, ALLOW_ROW_LOCKS  = ON, ALLOW_PAGE_LOCKS  = ON)
    ) ON [PRIMARY]
    -- These lines work fine on SQL Management Studio
    INSERT INTO [dbo].[my_table_identity] (my_float) VALUES (1.23)
    INSERT INTO [dbo].[my_table_identity] (my_float) VALUES (1.23)
    INSERT INTO [dbo].[my_table_identity] (my_float) VALUES (1.23)
    -- I can see all new rows with each one a different ID
    SELECT * FROM [dbo].[my_table_identity]
    dbo is the default schema for my Azure login.
    New writer block parameters:
    Comma separated list of columns to be saved: temp
       (from Bike Rental UCI Dataset)
    Data Table name: my_table_identity
    Comma separated list of datatable columns: my_float
    I still get the same error: Error 1000: AFx Library library exception: Sql encountered an error: These columns don't currently have unique values.
    I have also tried to pass the "instant" column instead of "temp", as it hasn't any duplicated values, but still no luck.
    I attach the log file (purged of sensitive information) because I see some error / warnings there.

  • Unable to Enforce Unique Values, Duplicate Values Exist

    I have list in SP 2010, it contains roughly 1000 items.  I would like to enforce unique values on the title field.  I started by cleaning up the list, ensuring that all items already had a unique value.  To help with this, I used the export
    to excel action, then highlight duplicates within Excel.  So as far as I can tell, there are no duplicates within that list column.
    However, when I try to enable the option to Enforce Unique Values, I receive the error that duplicate values exist within the field and must be removed.
    Steps I've taken so far to identify / resolve duplicate values:
    - Multiple exports to Excel from an unfiltered list view, then using highlight duplicates feature > no duplicates found
    - deleted ALL versions of every item from the list (except current), ensured they were completely removed by deleting from both site and site collection recycle bins
    - Using the SP Powershell console, grabbed all list items and exported all of the "Title" type fields (Item object Title, LinkTitle, LinkTitleNoMenu, etc) to a csv and ran that through excel duplicate checking as well.
    Unless there's some rediculous hidden field value that MS expects anyone capable of attempting to enforce unique values on a list (which is simple enough for anyone to figure out - if it doesn't throw an error), then I've exhausted anything I can think
    of that might cause the list to report duplicate values for that field.
    While I wait to see if someone else has an idea, I'm also going to see what happens if I wipe the Crawl Index and start it from scratch.
    - Jon

    First, I create index for a column in list settings, it works fine no matter duplicate value exists or not;
    then I set enforce unique values in the field, after click OK, I get duplicate values error message.
    With SQL Server profiler, I find the call to proc_CheckIfExistingFieldHasDuplicateValues and the parameters. After reviewing this stored procedure in content database,
    I create the following script in SQL Server management studio:
    declare @siteid
    uniqueidentifier
    declare @webid

    = 0)) AND U1.tp_Level
    = NVP1.Level
    AND U1.tp_IsCurrentVersion
    = CONVERT(bit, 1)
    AND U1.tp_CalculatedVersion
    = 0 AND U1.tp_RowOrdinal
    = 0 INNER
    MERGE JOIN
                NameValuePair_Latin1_General_CI_AS
    AS NVP2 WITH (INDEX=NameValuePair_Latin1_General_CI_AS_CI)
    ON NVP2.SiteId
    = @SiteId AND NVP2.ListId
    = @ListId AND NVP2.FieldId
    = @FieldId AND NVP2.Value
    = NVP1.Value
    AND NVP2.ItemId <> NVP1.ItemId
    CROSS APPLY TVF_UserData_ListItemLevelRow(NVP2.ListId, NVP2.ItemId,
    NVP2.Level, 0)
    AS U2 WHERE ((NVP2.Level
    = 1 AND U2.tp_DraftOwnerId
    IS NULL)
    OR NVP2.Level
    = 2)
    AND NOT((DATALENGTH(ISNULL(NVP2.Value,
    = 0))
    I can find the duplicate list items based on the result returned by the query above.
    Note that you need to change the parameter values accordingly, and change the name of NameValuePair_Latin1_General1_CI_AS table based on the last parameter of the
    proc_CheckIfExistingFieldHasDuplicateValues stored procedure. You can review the code of this stored procedure by yourself.
    Note that direct operation on the content database in production environment is not supported, please do all these in test environment.

  • How to autopopulate a text field with unique data from multiple data sets

    Hi,
    I'm a laboratory manager in charge of a hospital project which will be using pdf forms to send and receive data from our end users across the city. I need help with the last part of our pdf form, specifically with a js that will do a bit of text-field autopopulation magic. This, unfortunately, is a beyond what I have taught myself about pdf js functionality.a
    The problem:
    I need to provide my end users with a text field containing a set of data [A, B, C, D, E, F ...] and the total items in this set [tot#]. The end user needs this information as part of the implementation of this particular laboratory machine.
    The particulars
    When the end user asks for an experiment to be run, we must specify some pieces of data to help them interpret the results. These are constructed as panels which contain discrete data elements.
    For example - One experiment may use two panels, Panel#1 and Panel #2. Panel #1 includes the items A, B, D, E, Panel #2 includes the items A, B, C, F, G.
    Thus, the panels may share some of the same items, but, I only want the unique members to be displayed in the text field. If I make a drop down box or checkboxes with the panels, I want to  be able to select the panels that we ran and (in this example) have the text field display only the unique items among all the panels that were used:
    textfield outpute = A, B, C, D, E, F, G - 7 total.
    Any assistance from the pdf community would be very much appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Thanks for that help.
    I should have made it more apparent that I'm very new to scripting and I'm
    not a programmer by trade. I have a few questions before modifying the code
    you kindly provided.
    1) Where should I embed this script? Within the 'selection change' area of
    my listbox?
    2) Can I replace the term 'arr' with the names of the various items in my
    listbox or should I put 'arr#' as the output value for each term?
    3) Will this script find and display the unique values when a user selects
    multiple items in my listbox?
    4) How does the script know where to output the unique members of the
    combined set?
    I appreciate your patience with me.

  • Getting unique values from internal table

    Hi Gurus,
    From time to time I hit this problem and so far I havn't found any nice solution. I've an internal table with several fields. I would like to get all unique values for one (or several) of these fields. However let say that this table has a lot of entries so making a copy is not an option. Also changing this table in any way is forbiden.
    For example for table below I would like to get all unique values for field Number. In this case it would be 1,2,3,4.
    Name  | Number |
    name1 | 1|
    name2 | 2|
    name3 | 2|

    Can anyone propose me better solution than going in the loop through all entries in table? Maybe there is some ABAP functionality that I don't know about?

    Let's say that if I sort this table I won't be able to restore it to previous order which is important for me
    True...If you sort the table you won't be able to restore. So the only option is to copy/move all the records into another table.
    Sorting If you need to retrive unique values. I don't think without sorting the table would be a nice idea and proper programming to proceed ahead.
    Regarding logic, as replied earlier
    Either we can go with DELETE ADJACENT DUPLICATES or proceed as replied in my earlier post. There might be number of algorithms to resolve this. But we cannot go ahead without sorting or looping.

  • Getting unique values from an arraylist

    Hi
    I have an arraylist that contains stringbuffer objects. The arraylist has duplicate values of the objects. I have to create another arraylist with only the unique values from the first arraylist. I tried it many ways and using many functions, but no luck. Can someone provide me the code for this , as i need to do this urgently.
    Thank U

    Same character sequence.
    [EDIT] Or so I thought. Just tested, and found I was wrong. A quick glance at the API confirmed my error; StringBuffer doesn't override Object.equals().
