Schema name stripped out in apex

I can get the results in SQLPlus with following query (same user as apex)but if, for example, I try and run the query below within apex I get the following error
select T_SEQ_ID, ALIGNMENT_LENGTH,

where t.score > 25;
ORA-22303: type ""."DMBGOS" not found
I checked that DMBGOS is a valid type within the DMSYS schema. It seems the schema name gets stripping out in apex for some reason. Can someone take a close look at it?
Thanks,
Ke Lin

Hello,
How did you grant privileges on BLASTP_ALIGN etc to the user? Was it via a role perhaps? (That won't work in APEX, it needs to be a direct grant).

  • How to parameterize the schema name in APEX

    Hi,
    How to parameterize the schema name in APEX , in order to access different tables from the respective schema.
    For example:-
    select NAME display_value, CODE return_value
    from paramSchema.DESC_LIST WHERE SELECTION_FLG = 'Y'
    order by 1
    in the above code, paramSchema will be replaced with the actual schema name duing runtime. I tried doing so by some hidden fields on page, but it didn't worked out.
    I took the schema name from the respective server as per the IPof the server.
    stored in a hidden field named as schema.
    And replaced the same in place of schema name. But no luck.
    select NAME display_value, CODE return_value
    from :schema.DESC_LIST WHERE SELECTION_FLG = 'Y'
    order by 1
    Please help me in shorting it out.
    Thanks,
    Anuradha

    Hi
    In order to do that, you would need to use dynamic SQL by changing the report type to PL/SQL Function Body Returning SQL Query and have code along the lines of
    DECLARE
    l_sql VARCHAR2(32767);
    BEGIN
    l_sql := 'select NAME display_value, CODE return_value
    from '||:schema||'.DESC_LIST WHERE SELECTION_FLG = 'Y'
    order by 1';
    RETURN l_sql;
    END;However, by doing this, you lose alot of flexibility. The other options would be...
    To have seperate report regions that are conditional on the value of the variable.
    To use a WITH clause at the tope of the query like...
    WITH src_data AS
    (SELECT * FROM schema1.my_table
    WHERE :schema = 'schema1'
    UNION ALL
    SELECT * FROM schema2.my_table
    WHERE :schema = 'schema2')
    SELECT *
    FROM src_dataOther than that you could look at using synonyms and doing something similar.
    Hope this helps.
    Cheers

  • OWB 10.1 Deploy Mgr. - Registration - schema name is grayed out, sometimes

    Environment:
    Repository - OWB 10.1.0.2 on UNIX (AIX 5.2)
    Target - Oracle 9.2.0.4 on UNIX (AIX 5.2)
    Question: I have several locations that have been registered in the past. When I right click a location and click on 'Register' in some cases the schema name comes up grayed out and I am unable to change it and other times it is open.
    Why is that and how do I change the schema name of a location?
    I have installed the new schema as a target through the runtime assistant and there is a working runtime repository in that instance.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    P.S. Yes, we are making plans to upgrade to 10.2 soon but not soon enough ;-)>

    Hi,
    In order to edit/delete a location you need to unregister the location from all the Control Centers. A location might be registered to more than one Control Centers.
    Having said that if you have registered location A to Schema B in Control Center C, you need to unregister the location A from Control Center C.
    In case you have accidentally dropped the Schema B without unregistering the location A, then even if you unregister the location A from Control Center C, you will still see the user name and password fields grayed out. In that case you need to re-create the schema B, register the location A and then again unregister the location and then you will be able to edit it. Seems to be a bug in OWB.

  • How to strip out leading numbers in auto-generated bookmarks?

    For years now my team has used an Acrobat plug-in called Compose, which lets us strip out the leading numbers from bookmarks in PDFs generated from FrameMaker 7.2. (The tool works after the fact, so that all bookmark creation occurs after the PDF is created.)
    For example, these document headings:
    1.1 Intro to Happy Fun Ball
    1.1.1. System Requirements
    1.1.2. Cautionary Information (WARNING)
    are translated to the bookmarks:
    Intro to Happy Fun Ball
    System Requirements
    Cautionary Information (WARNING)
    After evaluating the new Adobe Tech Comm Suite, it seems that Acrobat 9 Extended Pro isn't compatible with the Compose plug-in (or at least, the version we've been using for years).
    Does anyone know if there's a method -- built into either FrameMaker 8 or Acrobat 9 Pro Extended, or in an SDK -- that allows you to auto-generate bookmarks but strip out leading numbers? It seems this is a no-brainer of a feature, yet I can't find it listed anywhere in the Acrobat documentation.
    Other names for this feature might be "wild card" or "text masking," not to mention "strip leading numbers."
    Thanks very much for your help.

    The following code can be run from the JavaScript console, but since you're new to this, it might be easier to create a button, paste the code shown below into the Mouse Up event of the button, select the Hand tool and click the button to execute the code, and then delete the button if everything is OK.
    If you need to do this a lot, you should consider setting up a custom menu item or toolbar button that executes this code:
    function removeBookmarkPrefix(bookmark) {
        // Resursive function to remove bookmark prefix
        // Rename bookmark without prefix
        bookmark.name = bookmark.name.replace(/^\S+\s+/, "");
        if (bookmark.children != null) {
            for (var i = 0; i < bookmark.children.length; i++) {
                removeBookmarkPrefix(bookmark.children[i]);
    // Remove all bookmark prefixes, recursively
    removeBookmarkPrefix(bookmarkRoot);
    The code uses what's called a regular expression, which in this case is fairly simple: /^\S+\s+/
    This regular expression means to search the bookmark name for the beginning of the string (^), followed by one or more non-whitespace characters (\S+), followed by one or more white space characters (\s+), and replace all that with an empty string (""), thus removing it. This should work with the bookmark name prefixes you describe.
    The function is called recursively, which is an efficient way to handle the hierarchical structure that the bookmark tree can have.
    If you get stuck, post again.

  • How does one strip out all Live Cycle data from a PDF and rebuild the form fields in Acrobat?

    Someone in a different department built a bunch of forms in Live Cycle. We now need to make minor edits to these forms but we all have Macs and can't use Live Cycle. Currently our only option to change a date and a name on each form  is to buy a new Windows workstation, buy a copy of Live Cycle and train someone for it.
    I understand the Live Cycle technology and Acrobat technology for forms are somehow different but there must be a way to just strip out all the Live Cycle form programming so that I just have the bare PDF with the text and layout.  Then make the text edits and rebuild the form fields in Acrobat.

    It depends on your PDF. Is the PDF a static XFA or a dynamic XFA?
    You can check to see if the PDF is static/dynamic by clicking File=>Save As, and it should say static or dynamic PDF as file type.
    iText will work with Static XFA forms created in LiveCycle. Dynamic XFA forms are not supported.
    You can also submit XML data to a server side script and parse the XML data using C# system.xml.xmlreader.
    Another tool that may speed the development of the project is:
    http://www.fdftoolkit.net/
    Note: FDFToolkit.net utilizes iText Technologies.

  • What is table schema name?

    Hi,
    I was looking at DatabaseMetaData::getColumns() while searching for a way to get a table's column names and I run into these ugly params catalog and schemaPattern. Of course nowhere on the sun's site could I find a definition of these terms although they're used quite often in the API documentation. So I turned to a specific DBMS provider and found out that catalog is a fancy term for the system metadata. But what about the String schema param? I usually see a table's schema referred to as the "structure" of the table, what columns it contains of which types. But I've never known this "schema" can have a string name. Anyone so kind to explain it to me or better point me to a text that has definitions and explanations of the concepts used in the JDBC API documentation? And more generally for JDK where do you folks usually go when you want a simple explanation of how things work, not the dry listing of function and parameter names? Look at MSDN for example, it is both a good reference and a reasonable self-contained tutorial. Not that I praise Microsoft but...
    BTW I found that probably ResultSetMetaData is more suitable for my initial purposes, but still the questions bother me. So if you have any suggestion please let me know.
    Thank you in advance

    To answer your question, what is a table schema name?, it is the name of the schema that the table belongs to. If you have an Oracle database, MYDB, it will have at the very least two users which are SYS and SYSTEM, these are schema names, there are objects that exists in their schema. If you create a new user, JAKE, and then create a bunch of objects as JAKE, these objects are said to belong to the JAKE schema. All objects are like this, not just tables (indexes, sequence tables, triggers, etc.).

  • DBACOCKPIT - wrong schema name

    Hi,
    We moved one of our satellite systems on another server. After that, the remote database monitoring in Solution Manager (7.0 EHP1 SPS26) doesn't work anymore. When I try to add the corresponding entry, the system refuses (database error 229 at EXE - Execute permission was denied on the object 'sap_tf_version') and I notice that the schema name is wrong (<domain>\SAPService<Solution Manager SID> instead of dbo). I can't replace the schema name because it is greyed out in the system information part.
    So my question: where the system gains its information about schema name from ?
    How to solve this problem ?

  • How to know database name and schema name

    Hi ,
    Once after logging in the database,how is it possible to know the current database and schema which we r using?Is there any system table where we can get the database names and schema names?
    please help me out.itz urgent.
    Regards,
    Sravan

    Probably not.
    If the database name is the name of the current database, it would be essentially redundant. If the database name is the name of some other database, in order to get the names of all the tables in the specified schema, you could create a database link to the remote system (which assumes you have a login and password to the remote database with appropriate privileges, that the database server's tnsnames.ora file has an entry for the remote database, etc) and query the remote data dictionary tables. Even if you could do that, however, you could not dynamically create triggers on the remote database since DDL over a database link.
    In theory, you could also load an appropriate JDBC driver into the database and write a Java stored procedure that would connect to the remote database (again, with an appropriate user name & password, host name, and port number) and issue DDL against that remote database. I have a hard time believing, however, that this would be a particularly beneficial approach. It would be easier just to put the appropriate code into each database that needs triggers generated or to have a separate Java application that generates triggers for a number of different databases.

    Can anyone please help on this ?

    Rajendrakumar.P

    Raj,
    Did you export this application from another workspace perhaps? I have seen in the past that if you create a data load page based on schema A and then import that application and set it to parse as schema B, it will not work.
    The solution - although unsupported - is to simply alter the parse-as schema reference in the APEX export file. A more supported version would be to re-create the data load pages in the target application, so that it picks up on the proper parse-as schema.

  • DatabaseProcedure with return type prefixed with schema name

    Hi (Paco)
    I have a question about the DatabaseProcedure class. We are using Oracle proxy users for our database connections.
    Everything is accessed via a database role that are granted to the logged on user. All our database objects, tables etc are protected with this database role.
    When I want to call a database function/procedure I need to add the schema name as a prefix to the custom database object that we uses for parameters/return types.
    So far so good. I can also define a parameter prefixed with schema name via the DatabaseProcedure.registerArrayType ...
    But when I try to define a function call that uses this parameter I get an error saying "Declaration is not valid".
    The problem is located to the PROCEDURE_DEFINITION regular pattern:
    private static final Pattern PROCEDURE_DEFINITION = Pattern.compile("\\s* (FUNCTION|PROCEDURE) \\s+ ([\\w.$]+) \\s* (?:\\((.*?)\\))? \\s* (?:RETURN\\s+(\\w+))? \\s* ;? \\s*", CASE_INSENSITIVE | COMMENTS | DOTALL); The return type cannot be prefixed with the schema name.
    Any good suggestions or workarounds?!
    I actually did change the pattern runtime via reflection to make it work - but I really don't like this solution in the long run!

    Hi Torben,
    I think I have a workaround for the issue that might work for you. If you look at the source of <font face="courier">DatabaseProcedure.registerArrayType</font> you find that it actually calls <font face="courier">DatabaseProcedure.registerCustomParamType</font>.
    public static void registerArrayType(String name)
      registerCustomParamType(name, Types.ARRAY, Array.getORADataFactory(), name);
    }As a workaround you could replace your calls to <font face="courier">DatabaseProcedure.registerArrayType</font> with calls to <font face="courier">DatabaseProcedure.registerCustomParamType</font> as follows.
    // Instead of DatabaseProcedure.registerArrayType("NAME.WITH.DOTS") call:
    DatabaseProcedure.registerCustomParamType("anyNameWithoutDots", Types.ARRAY, Array.getORADataFactory(), "NAME.WITH.DOTS"); // Don't forget to use uppercase here.
    DatabaseProcedure dp = DatabaseProcedure.define("procedure my.procedure(param1 in out anyNameWithoutDots)");
    DatabaseProcedure.ParamType type = dp.getParamDef(0).getType();
    System.out.println(type.getName() + " is " + type.getTypeName()); // ANYNAMEWITHOUTDOTS is NAME.WITH.DOTSThis way you don't have to use the "illegal" name in the DatabaseProcedure definition.

  • Missing schema names in sqlj generated for packages

    We are using jpub, version 8.1.6.0.0 Production to generate code for ~100 packages and objects.
    We are creating a connection other than the schema owner, and have prefixed all the lines in our input file with the schema name and a period. We AREN'T using the "omit_schema_names" option
    The generated .sqlj code for objects includes a line like:
    public static final String SQLNAME = "GHMINT.WD$DISPATCHER_CHNG_TRIP_OBJ";
    where "GHMINT" is the schema we want.
    HOWEVER, the generated .sqlj code for package methods includes code like:
    #sql [_ctx] __jPt_result = { VALUES(WD$SECURITY.USER_LOGIN(
    with no schema indication, and we would get errors complaining about undeclared identifiers.
    We have a workaround that involves a sed script that inserts the schema info in the appropriate places, but this seems like a bug in jpub.
    Comments, RTFMs, or pointers to a newer version would be appreciated.
    Thanks,

    Thank you for pointing out this oversight. It will be fixed promptly.

  • Static Files with same name. How does apex determine which files to serve?

    Hello, I'm using apex 4.2.1.00.08 and I cannot figure out how apex manages the static files and cannot find any help in the docs (other that some high level UI description).
    The application is serving some file and I cannot find which one it is in any easy way.
    I have a workspace where there are several files that have the same name, and I cannot understand how apex figures out which one to serve, and also don't understand what is value of associating a file with an application.
    There are files associated with application 0, which don't appear to show up in the "shared components", but can be seen as
    SELECT *
    FROM wwv_flow_files
    WHERE flow_id = 0;
    and can apparently only be deleted using "SQL Commands" inside apex.
    the URL called is something like
    wwv_flow_file_mgr.get_file?p_security_group_id=13498126233076320&p_fname=myfile.css
    so apparently the only parameters that matter are the workspace and the file name. The associated application is irrelevant.
    apparently files linked to flow_id 0 have precedence over all the other files ...
    Thanks for clearing up a bit of "fog" on this issue.

    VC wrote:

    Files associated with an application are referenced using *#APP_IMAGES#*
    Files not associated with an application are referenced using *#WORKSPACE_IMAGES#*I referenced with #WORKSPACE_IMAGES#, but now I see that if I use #APP_IMAGES# the URL generated will also contain the application ID. This would help to discriminate between different files with the same name but linked to different applications ...

Do they take precedence over all other files with the same name?
    Filename is unique for the given workspace[and application]I disagree. I have multiple files with the same name ... the root of this problem ...
    so apparently the only parameters that matter are the workspace and the file name. The associated application is irrelevant.How is your static file referenced??
    But not always, try associating an static file with and application and reference it using #APP_IMAGES# instead of #WORKSPACE_IMAGES#
    See
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E37097_01/doc/doc.42/e35125/concept_sub.htm#BEIDCGAJ
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E37097_01/doc/doc.42/e35125/ui_file_manage.htm#HTMDB06011
    Thanks, but the documentation doesn't give much details ... apparently files referenced with #WORKSPACE_IMAGES# can still resolve to files linked to specific applications ... I would like to understand the actual workflow for the various cases (file references with APP_IMAGES, referenced with WORKSPACE_IMAGES, file associated with the application, with another application, with no application, with application "0" ...).
    Also, I find it somewhat misleading that you can have files associate with applications that don't exist anymore (e.g. have been deleted).

    end;Note the Schema Name and the Object Name have been quoted together!
    Is this a known issue and do you know of a fix?
    Many thanks in advance
    Craig

    Hi Craig,
    this problem is not known so far.
    I had a look at the code and that change has been made because of multi byte support for sequence names and because of security reasons.
    We try to avoid breaking changes in applications, but it looks like we haven't expected that developers are specifying sequence names prefixed by the schema name.
    Maybe the following workaround is feasible for you:
    1) Find all tabular form columns which are using a sequence with a schema prefix as primary key source
    select *
      from apex_application_page_rpt_cols
    where primary_key_column_source_type = 'S'
       and instr(primary_key_column_source, '.') > 0;2) Go to that tabular form column and remove the schema prefix
    3) If the sequence is really in a different schema than the parsing schema of your application, create a synonym for it.
    Hope that solves your problem.

    Patrick
