SCN USAGE IN Flash back query - Help needed - Urgent

Hi,
I am using the query by using the timestamp value to get the particular version of the data.
How to use the SCN value in the flashback query and what is the query used for getting SCN value for todays changes.
How to check what are all the scn are available for the particular table?
I am using the query as
select a.eno,
b.eno,
a.ename newname,
b.ename oldname
from emp a, emp as of timestamp
to_timestamp('08-NOV-2006 06:32:21.999999 AM','DD-MON-RRRR HH:MI:SS.ff6 AM')+2000/1162970290000 b
where a.eno=b.eno
How to use the SCN instead of time stamp for getting the SCN value for the table emp for todays changes.
Please suggest..
Thanks in advance.

That might be difficult. Check out the Flashback Query Restrictions from the Oracle9i Application Developer's Guide. In particular, the third bullet. It would seem that SCNs are recorded every 5 minutes for flashback use. If your changes occurred during a five minute window, you may not be able to get both values.

    Flash back query ( any of the given options) is it possible to recover truncated table data?
    Whether it has to be database point in time recovery or there are other ways to do it ?
    Examples will be of great help.

  • Please tell me about flash back query

    Hi
    Please tell me about flash back query and when to use it and the advantages..
    Thanks in advance..

    Flash back query is mainly used for table recovery and data recovery.. To do the flashback user requires the FLASHBACK ANY TABLE privilege.
    This is how it can be used.
    1) DROP TABLE emp;
    2) SELECT * FROM recyclebin
    You will get the tablename in the Recyclebin table.
    3) FLASHBACK TABLE emp TO BEFORE DROP.
    Following part expalins how it cane be used for the data in the table.
    1) UPDATE emp SET sal=5000;
    2) COMMIT;
    3) ALTER TABLE emp ENABLE ROW MOVEMENT;
    4) FLASHBACK TABLE emp TO TIMESTAMP(SYSTIMESTAMP-5/1440);
    Now query the table to get the data which was updated before 5min.
    Similarly one can use it for the database recovery also.

  • Some J2ME midlets doubts!! help needed urgently!!!

    Hi,
    I am currently working in a company where it does wireless technology like WAP and I am assigned a task of creating a screensaver midlet. I have some doubts on the midlets.
    1) How do i use a midlet suites? From what I heard from my colleagues & friends, a servlet is needed for midlets to interact with one another. is it true?
    2) How do I get the startin midlet to take note the phone is idling so that the screen saver midlet can be called?
    Help needed urgently... if there is any source codes for me to refer to would be better... Thanks...
    Leonard

    indicates that MIDlet suites are isolated (on purpose) from each other, so you can't write over another one's address space.
    Also, I believe (at least on cell phones) that you have to specifically enter the Java Apps mode; unless you do the app won't execute. If you are in Java apps mode and a call comes in, the cell's OS puts the Java app currently executing on "Pause" mode and switches back to phone mode.
    Not sure if you will be able to have a Java app do that automatically.
    BTW why do you need a screensaver on an LCD display? Is it really intended to show an advertisement?
    Download and real all the docs you can from Sun, once you get over the generic Java deficiencies MIDlet's aren't that hard.

  • Courtest Call Back Query HELP!!!!

    My name is Michael Love,  I am having issues getting counts for Courtest Call Back.  I need help building a query to get a count of all customers that Accepted Courtesy Call Back. I am also trying to fine out (of those that accepted Courtest Call Back) how many of them completed the process by connecting to a rep.
    I need distinct counts...

    Michael,
    How this might be accomplished varies quite significantly based on how the queue call back was programmed and other parameters of scripts in your call center.
    The most concrete way would be to have your script write to a database when a callback is requested, and update that record when a rep is successfully connected via the Connect step. From there you could program a quick web interface or otherwise to provide you that information.

  • Help needed urgently on a problem..plzzz

    hi..this is a linear congruential generator. I have to implement it and i need the execution time for the program.
    for your understanding i'm providing an example below.
    Xn=(( a* xn-1 )+b) mod m
    If X0=7 ; a = 7 ; b =7 ; m=10
    Then
    X0 = 7
    X1 =((7 * 7) + 7))mod 10 = 6
    X2 = ((6*7)+7))mod 10 = 9
    X3 = ((9*7)+7) mod 10 = 0
    X4 = ((0*7)+7) mod 10 = 7
    Now since the cycle is being repeated i.e 7 appears againso the period is 4 coz there are 4 diff nos. i.e 7,6,9,0..
    help required urgently....your help will be appreciated...thankyou..

    Hi,
    I wrote the code so that it catches any cycle (not only the "big" one).
    Otherwise it will enter infinite loop...
    The time complexity is O(N*logN): it can do at most N iterations (here N is your 'm'), and in each iteration there can be O(log N) comparisons (since I maintain TreeSet).
    Interesting issue: is it possible to supply such (x0, a, b, m) tuple such that all possible values from 0 to m-1 will be output? I think no :)
    Here is the program:
    package recurr;
    import java.util.TreeSet;
    import java.util.Comparator;
    public class Recurrences {
         private static long x0, a, b, m;
         private static TreeSet theSet;
         public static void main(String[] args)
              long l0, l1, l2, l3;
              try {
                   x0 = Long.parseLong(args[0]);
                   a = Long.parseLong(args[1]);
                   b = Long.parseLong(args[2]);
                   m = Long.parseLong(args[3]);
              } catch(NumberFormatException nfe) {
                   nfe.printStackTrace();
              System.out.println("X[0]: " + x0 + "\n");
              long curr = x0;
              boolean cut = false;
              int i;
              // initialize the set
              theSet = new TreeSet(new LongComparator());
              // we can get at most m distinct values (from 0 to m-1) through recurrences
              for(i=1; i <= m; ++i) {
                   // iterate until we find duplicate
                   theSet.add(new Long(curr));
                   curr = recurrence(curr);
                   if(theSet.contains(new Long(curr))) {
                        cut = true;
                        break;
                   System.out.println("X[" + i + "]: " + curr + "\n");
              if(cut) {
                   System.out.println("Cycle found: the next will come " + curr + "\n");
              } else {
                   System.out.println("No cycle found!");
              System.out.println("----------------------------------");
              System.out.println("Totally " + (i-1) + " iterations");

  • Help needed Urgently- Rebate based on collected amount

    Dear all,
    I come across scenario while discussiion with client that they require rebate with collection. Details of the requirement are given below:
    1. SAP rebates run on billed values & set the accrual in rebate agreement on the rate what we have specified in the rebate agreement. Requirement is that, If i have billed on 1000$ & my accrual value is 100$ with the rate of 10%. If i collected 800$ instead of 1000$, then i need to pay the accrual on the basis of 800$ not on the basis of 1000$. It means i have to adjust accrual amount on the basis of 800$. Conclusion is that i have to pay not 100$ accrual instead less then 100$ on the basis of 800$ which i collected.
    2. In month 1 have billed on 5000$, my accrual amount is 500$ with rate of 10%. In the 2nd month i have to bill 1000$ and i have given an discount of 500$, it means my billed value is 500$ and my accrual amount is 50$@10%. In month 3 again i billed 500$ and my accrual amount is 50$@10%.
    Requirement is that, when i am going to pay the accrual to client, i should pay correct accrual for which he is entitled for. Means i should pay 100$ accrual not 600$ because i have already given an discount of 500$. Discount which i have given already of 500$ should need to be offest with the first month accrual of 500$. So remaning accrual is 100$.
    Great if somebody can help me out for the solutioning of the above requirements.

    Thanks Ivano,
    Somebody has started the conversation.
    Let me put my questions again.
    This requirement is nothing to do with Payment procedure in the agreement type.
    1. In any month if i billed 1000$, so my account receivable would be 1000$. My rebate for that month is 100$ at the rate of 10%. During customer receipt if i collected against my invoice 900$ instead of 1000$, my accrual needs to be corrected 90$ instead of 100$.
    I know this can not be fullfilled by standard SAP, by any thoughts on this welcomed.
    2. I know Rebate can be settled partially or full settlement by payment method( by cheque, bank transfer, or by credit memo) we have configure in rebate agreement type. But here requirement is totally different.
    Here, i need to pay the Rebate as a Discount instead of by cheque or by credit memo. While doing the partial or full settlement system will take into account collected accrual up to that day & apply as a discount to the final bill.
    Scenario is like that sometimes customer asked to give us the discount on bill for whatever they accrued so far.
    This is again cannot solved by standard SAP, but any thought by any body welcome. We have already thought that we need to enhance the solution.

  • Unable to allocate 27160 bytes.........Help needed urgently

    hi
    in my production database in getting this error..
    ORA-04031: unable to allocate 27160 bytes of shared memory ("shared
    pool","unknown object","sga heap(1,0)","session param values")
    help needed urgently

    If you have a program that does not use bind variables you can get this error.
    In such cases you do not want to increase the size of the shared pool, but reduce it, and flush regularly. This is a bug in the application and should be fixed to use bind variables.
    Another possible workaround is setting cursor_sharing = force, but this can cause other problems, so should only be used as a last resort. If the apps connections can be distinguished by user account or machine, then a log on trigger could be set cursor_sharing just for that application, to limit the damage until the vendor can fix it.

  • Query help needed for querybuilder to use with lcm cli

    Hi,
    I had set up several queries to run with the lcm cli in order to back up personal folders, inboxes, etc. to lcmbiar files to use as backups.  I have seen a few posts that are similar, but I have a specific question/concern.
    I just recently had to reference one of these back ups only to find it was incomplete.  Does the query used by the lcm cli also only pull the first 1000 rows? Is there a way to change this limit somwhere?
    Also, since when importing this lcmbiar file for something 'generic' like 'all personal folders', pulls in WAY too much stuff, is there a better way to limit this? I am open to suggestions, but it would almost be better if I could create individual lcmbiar output files on a per user basis.  This way, when/if I need to restore someone's personal folder contents, for example, I could find them by username and import just that lcmbiar file, as opposed to all 3000 of our users.  I am not quite sure how to accomplish this...
    Currently, with my limited windows scripting knowledge, I have set up a bat script to run each morning, that creates a 'runtime' properties file from a template, such that the lcmbiar file gets named uniquely for that day and its content.  Then I call the lcm_cli using the proper command.  The query within the properties file is currently very straightforward - select * from CI_INFOOBJECTS WHERE SI_ANCESTOR = 18.
    To do what I want to do...
    1) I'd first need a current list of usernames in a text file, that could be read (?) in and parsed to single out each user (remember we are talking about 3000) - not sure the best way to get this.
    2) Then instead of just updating the the lcmbiar file name with a unique name as I do currently, I would also update the query (which would be different altogether):  SELECT * from CI_INFOOBJECTS where SI_OWNER = '<username>' AND SI_ANCESTOR = 18.
    In theory, that would grab everything owned by that user in their personal folder - right? and write it to its own lcmbiar file to a location I specify.
    I just think chunking something like this is more effective and BO has no built in back up capability that already does this.  We are on BO 4.0 SP7 right now, move to 4.1 SP4 over the summer.
    Any thoughts on this would be much appreciated.
    thanks,
    Missy

    Just wanted to pass along that SAP Support pointed me to KBA 1969259 which had some good example queries in it (they were helping me with a concern I had over the lcmbiar file output, not with query design).  I was able to tweak one of the sample queries in this KBA to give me more of what I was after...
    SELECT TOP 10000 static, relationships, SI_PARENT_FOLDER_CUID, SI_OWNER, SI_PATH FROM CI_INFOOBJECTS,CI_APPOBJECTS,CI_SYSTEMOBJECTS WHERE (DESCENDENTS ("si_name='Folder Hierarchy'","si_name='<username>'"))
    This exports inboxes, personal folders, categories, and roles, which is more than I was after, but still necessary to back up.. so in a way, it is actually better because I have one lcmbiar file per user - contains all their 'personal' objects.
    So between narrowing down my set of users to only those who actually have saved things to their personal folder and now having a query that actually returns what I expect it to return, along with the help below for a job to clean up these excessive amounts of promotion jobs I am now creating... I am all set!
    Hopefully this can help someone else too!
    Thanks,
    missy

  • Pagination query help needed for large table - force a different index

    I'm using a slight modification of the pagination query from over at Ask Tom's: [http://www.oracle.com/technology/oramag/oracle/07-jan/o17asktom.html]
    Mine looks like this when fetching the first 100 rows of all members with last name Smith, ordered by join date:
    SELECT members.*
    FROM members,
        SELECT RID, rownum rnum
        FROM
            SELECT rowid as RID
            FROM members
            WHERE last_name = 'Smith'
            ORDER BY joindate
        WHERE rownum <= 100
    WHERE rnum >= 1
             and RID = members.rowidThe difference between this and the one at Ask Tom's is that my innermost query just returns the ROWID. Then in the outermost query we join the ROWIDs returned to the members table, after we have pruned the ROWIDs down to only the chunk of 100 we want. This makes it MUCH faster (verifiably) on our large tables, as it is able to use the index on the innermost query (well... read on).
    The problem I have is this:
    SELECT rowid as RID
    FROM members
    WHERE last_name = 'Smith'
    ORDER BY joindateThis will use the index for the predicate column (last_name) instead of the unique index I have defined for the joindate column (joindate, sequence). (Verifiable with explain plan). It is much slower this way on a large table. So I can hint it using either of the following methods:
    SELECT /*+ index(members, joindate_idx) */ rowid as RID
    FROM members
    WHERE last_name = 'Smith'
    ORDER BY joindate
    SELECT /*+ first_rows(100) */ rowid as RID
    FROM members
    WHERE last_name = 'Smith'
    ORDER BY joindateEither way, it now uses the index of the ORDER BY column (joindate_idx), so now it is much faster as it does not have to do a sort (remember, VERY large table, millions of records). So that seems good. But now, on my outermost query, I join the rowid with the meaningful columns of data from the members table, as commented below:
    SELECT members.*      -- Select all data from members table
    FROM members,           -- members table added to FROM clause
        SELECT RID, rownum rnum
        FROM
            SELECT /*+ index(members, joindate_idx) */ rowid as RID   -- Hint is ignored now that I am joining in the outer query
            FROM members
            WHERE last_name = 'Smith'
            ORDER BY joindate
        WHERE rownum <= 100
    WHERE rnum >= 1
            and RID = members.rowid           -- Merge the members table on the rowid we pulled from the inner queriesOnce I do this join, it goes back to using the predicate index (last_name) and has to perform the sort once it finds all matching values (which can be a lot in this table, there is high cardinality on some columns).
    So my question is, in the full query above, is there any way I can get it to use the ORDER BY column for indexing to prevent it from having to do a sort? The join is what causes it to revert back to using the predicate index, even with hints. Remove the join and just return the ROWIDs for those 100 records and it flies, even on 10 million records.
    It'd be great if there was some generic hint that could accomplish this, such that if we change the table/columns/indexes, we don't need to change the hint (the FIRST_ROWS hint is a good example of this, while the INDEX hint is the opposite), but any help would be appreciated. I can provide explain plans for any of the above if needed.
    Thanks!

    Not sure what advantage you are trying to show here. But considering that we are talking about pagination query here and order of records is important, your 2 queries will not always generate output in same order. Here is the test case:

    SQL> set autotrace off
    SQL> spool offAs you will see, the join query here has to have an ORDER BY clause at the end to ensure that records are correctly sorted. You can not rely on optimizer choosing NESTED LOOP join method and, as above example shows, when optimizer chooses HASH JOIN, oracle is free to return rows in no particular order.
    The query that does not involve join always returns rows in the desired order. Adding an ORDER BY does add a step in the plan for the query using join but does not affect the other query.

    Market Description 1st 10%(revenue) 2nd 10%(revenue) 3rd 10%(revenue) 4th 10%(revenue) 5th 10%(revenue) rest 50%(revenue)
    Would appreciate any help on this query.

    Hi,
    What does 1st 10%, 2nd 10% etc. mean?
    Is it 0-10%, 11-20%, 21-30%....
    If so, combination of floor,decode and division should help to
    achieve the result.
    For example for the followint table,
    NAME SALE
    SALES_GROUP1 .2
    SALES_GROUP1 1
    SALES_GROUP1 9
    SALES_GROUP2 2.1
    SALES_GROUP2 12.2
    SALES_GROUP2 19.9
    SALES_GROUP3 22.2
    write,
    select name,decode(floor(sale/10),0,sale,null) "1st10%",
    decode(floor(sale/10),1,sale,null)"11to20%",
    decode(floor(sale/10),2,sale,null) "21to30%"
    from revenue;
    I mean, using floor and division, your rounding all values b/w 0 to 10 as 0
    Similarly, 11 to 20 has be rounded to 1 etc...then apply decode function it
    to achive the result.
    I hope this helps.
