Screen too sensitive when scrolling--any solution?

My iPhone 3G screen is extremely sensitive when scrolling. The slightest touch will activate a website or open a unintended application. Is there anyway to decrease the sensitivity or another method of scrolling that will solve my problem?
Thanks,
Don

You're not alone. Scrolling through forums is definitely a learned art, and at times makes one wish for cursor keys... especially if you want to get to the far bottom of a long page.
1) Note how the UI decides if you're scrolling or clicking. If you click on a link or button, but then move up or down a little, the button un-highlights and is no longer active.
So one trick is to make sure that you always move up/down a bit before you let up.
2) Double-click a main column so it fills the screen, and you have more white space to use for scrolling.

  • From time to time screen flashes black when scrolling

    Hi all!
    My system: Fennec 32.0, Teclast x98 3g, Intel z3735D, Android 4.2.2
From time to time I observe screen flashing black when scrolling any page. I could not find consistent pattern, but maybe it happens when I have 3 or more opened tabs.
Could you help me to solve this issue?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi IGOR,
There are alot of default features for scrolling in Firefox for android, but they are under the hood of the application in the about:config page.
Does this happen on pages with Flash player embedded in them?
The more current reasons why Flash may not work is if the phone/tablet has a Intel cpu and not a ARMv7 or v6 type of cpu that old Flash 11.1 for Android supports.. And if you have Android 4.1 or newer you need Firefox 27.0 and newer.
However if it is not, please open a bug with the device model and about:buildconfig page information as well as an example website where this happens all the time. Further investigation can be done with that information. :-)

iPad freezes when skypeing, any solutions?

Based on the limited info you provided, update iOS Nd the Skype app.
First reboot the iPad by pressing and holding down the home and sleep/wake buttons (power) at the same time until the apple logo appears on the screen, then let go.
If that doesn't work then reset the device by going to settings/general/reset/reset all settings

  • Display ripples when scrolling ANY types of pages

This is driving me nuts. And giving me headaches. And making my head spin.
My MBPro 2.4Ghz with infamous Nvidia 8600M GT 256MB graphics card is the culprit. A real letdown compared to all the Macs in general, and the portables in particular, that I've used over the last 20 years.
As others have reported here, there is a MAJOR issue with "rippling" lines of text when scrolling web pages. But I am getting the same thing when scrolling ALL types of pages: web, text, spreadsheets, etc.
It happens both on the MBPro screen and on an external monitor.
It happens when scrolling with the trackpad or with a USB mouse.
    It happens at all times.
And, if this is possible, it seems to be getting worse. It's almost at the point where I have to TAKE MY EYES OFF THE SCREEN if I have to do any scrolling. If not, by the end of the work day, my head is spinning, my eyes are dead tired, I'm going cross-eyed and, more times than not, I've got a headache from all the "visual effects".
I took my MBPro to an Authorized Apple Technician, to see if it had the defective Nvidia graphics card. I'd done a reformat and fresh install of 10.5.7 the night before.
The Nvidia test software, on an external HD, showed that I don't have a defective card.
Not a bid deal in the end, as they would have just installed the SAME type of graphics card and logic board.
I convinced the Apple Tech to use my MBPro for a few minutes, just to show him what I meant. He said he was surprised to see the ripples, that he'd never really focused on that in the past. But they were definitely there, and he wasn't able to say that it was "normal", as he really wanted to do.
He said he thought it might be a problem with the NVIDIA DRIVERS.
He then went onto his 24" iMac with Nvidia graphics card and, lo and behold, he had THE SAME RIPPLING while scrolling longer web and text pages.
This made him more convinced that it must be "imperfect" Nvidia drivers in Mac OS 10.5. And he said the only thing to do was hope that Apple and Nvidia get these drivers perfected and thoroughly tested in the near future, either by specific update or IN SNOW LEOPARD.
What's frustrating is that I have NEVER had this problem with either our iMac 20" Core Duo, which has an ATI graphics card, or our Macbook Core 2 Duo with GMA 950 Intel chipset. That is, with much older, less powerful Intel Macs, but ones that DON'T HAVE NVIDIA graphics cards.

I call it more of a flicker, but I also experience this issue with a MBP (led backlight). It is not browser dependant, but as Safari scrolls smoothly, it is much more apparent with this than other browsers.
Here is a perfect example, watch the sidebars on this page while scrolling :
    http://www.theautochannel.com
It's also particularly bad with this site (apple discussion board), and others with high contrast text, the text flickers/ripples very badly This never happened with my Powerbook display. Is this an issue or simply inherent with these displays. Personally, it is giving me headaches when scrolling through large amounts of text (which I often do for work), and rendering this laptop virtually unusable for me.
I'm surprised to find very few others complaining about this phenomenon, perhaps I'm not describing the issue well with my search terms. Has anyone heard of a solution?
    Thanks

  • Screen ripple effect when scrolling after installing Mavericks?

Since downloading Mavericks some three weeks ago, my screen ripples (wave effect) when scrolling.
Dominic kindly responded a short time ago with the suggestion it could be Autocad update related.
All traces of Autocad wiped from my machine but still experiencing this ripple effect when scrolling.
Beginning to wish I had not updated to Mavericks.
    Help!!!

Mine too have this on my new MBP ( September 2009).
It's more evident in Safari, but show also in finder while scrolling. It is not related to font antialiasing because enlarging page text in Safari (cmd +) the blurry effect is still there.
I'm very disappointed of lcd screen quality, too much fatigue to eyes.
Could be considered a screen hardware defect?

  • Adobe screen going black when scrolling...?

We do PDF replacements within our workflow all day long and just recently started having an issue. After doing a page replace (often almost the entire document) of a pdf with another pdf, we have to go through and check that the bookmarks are accurate. When scrolling through, there's one user that the screen sometimes just goes black on. They have to close the document and reopen it. Then, when it goes black again as they scroll through, they have to close and reopen it again. Very frustrating and time consuming.
Using Adobe Acrobat 9 on a Windows XP (old, I know) environment. We unloaded the software and reloaded it. Then the computer was rebuilt as that did not fix the issue. Issue still remains. It's only on one computer, regardless of what user is logged in.
    Thoughts? Options?
    Thank you!

  • Adding Bookmark Freezes Lion's Safari, Garbled Screen on Safari When Scrolled

Hi. Has anyone added a bookmark on Facebook and it froze (the only way to unfreeze it is to press command + . many times). Sometimes the screen becomes garbled when I scroll it with the reverse scrolling one (it happened on Facebook). Is this a Facebook issue or Lion's Safari or the reverse scroll gesture? Thank you in advance.
    Gbu.

    It's a Safari issue.
    Quit Safari.
Go to   ~/Library/Cookies. Move the Cookies.plist file to the Trash.
    Launch Safari. Try bookmarking FB.
If that doesn't help, open a Finder window select your Home folder in the Sidebar on the left. Then open the Library folder, then the Caches folder, then the com.apple.Safari folder. Move the cache.db file from the com.apple.Safari folder to the Trash. Quit then relaunch Safari. Try again.

  • After ver 26 was installed my screen display distorts when scrolling - I tried resetting - no luck - any suggestions?

when I use either the scroll down bar on the right side or arrows up/down the display on the screen distorts at an angle as it moves up or down. does not reset with time

I think I saw a screen shot of this in a different thread, but I can't find it at the moment.
When there are strange display artifacts, I suspect a graphics driver incompatibility.
As a workaround, you could disable hardware acceleration of graphics in Firefox and in Flash (if relevant):
    (A) In Firefox, un-check the box here and restart:
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced > General > "Use hardware acceleration when available"
    (B) In Flash, see this support article from Adobe: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/video-playback-issues.html#main_Solve_video_playback_issues
    Any improvement?

  • 5K screen not smooth when scrolling

When i scroll down on my 5K screen it is jumpy and not smooth (and such that i get very tired eyes and can actually see the jumping happening so it is apparently slow in adjusting)
    Any suggestions what to do?

Amazing i've been told this is how the 5K screen looks and it is 'normal behaviour'. I get a headache working behind my 5K, i can see text and photo's jump and screetch into position, reading can only be done on a steady screen (and then too it is jumpy) and all simply visible with my own bare eyes. If this is normal it is a faulty product.
I am now discussing with my supplier exchanging 5K for regular iMac so i can work again. Totally disappointed in the 5K, i have this for work not for art! If i had known this i would NEVER have bought a 5K. And i also believe the 5K should not be out there, technology is apparently not there yet for this massive retina screen. Have Ipad2 with retina screen and that is beautiful, works absolutely fantastic.

  • I want to enter ICE numbers that can be seen from the lock screen of my iPhone. Any solutions?

ICE numbers (In Case of Emergency) help first responders make important phone calls on your behalf in the event of an emergency. Typically these are stored as ICE numbers in your contacts, however, your contacts can't be accessed from a lock screen if you have set a password to get into your phone. Any wonderful solutions? I have developed one solution that works: I entered my ICE information into "Notes", and then took a screen shot of the information. Then I mailed it to myself and saved it in my camera roll. Once I selected the "photo" of my ICE information, I saved this as my lock screen photo. Now when anyone turns on my phone, they see my ICE numbers and they do not have access to any other parts of my phone.

Having access to contact numbers stored in a phone without knowing the passcode sort of nullifies part of the reason for the passcode protection in the first place.  However, I do support giving users more freedom, os long as they understand the possible negative consequences.

  • IPhone screen shakes violently when scrolling/dragging pages

    Hi,
I have a 1.5 month old black 32g iphone 3GS (3.1.3) that has recently started experiencing a sporadic problem with the screen. When I'm dragging/scrolling on the screen (either scrolling through emails, or scrolling on a webpage, or even dragging a photo around), it begins to shake up and down very quickly and violently, and sometimes jumps around to different parts of the page without me doing anything other than just dragging like I always do.
The problem seems to go away after a while, but will come back randomly, sometimes within a few hours, or sometimes not until a few days later.
This has been happening for about 2 weeks now. The screen is in perfect condition, no scratches, no dust underneath it, so Im baffled about why this is happening.
    Is anyone else experiencing this?

I'm having the same problem with my iPhone 3gs. I'm currently at a genius bar, and they need me to replicate the issue inorder to service the iPhone. Anyone have an idea as to the cause of this, or how to replicate it on demand or the apple genius to see? I've had mine for nearly a year and am afraid tha my warranty will run out before I can have apple fix the issue. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

  • 5c screen too sensitive during phone usage?

My screen works fine for everything, except phone calls.  To make a phone call is hit or miss.  Sometimes will go through just fine.  But, when I have the phone up to my ear, the touch screen goes crazy and activates face time, or hits buttons to give tones like crazy in the ear of both ends of the conversation.
I saw in a post elsewhere that there may be a sensitivity issue in the speaker where the ear is.  Anyone know how to fix this?

Your proximity sensor might not be working correctly anymore. Try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button of about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again. You will not lose data by resetting, after that the sensor should be working again and switching off the scree during phone calls.
If not, set it up as new device and restore from the backup, explained here:
How to erase your iOS device and then set it up as a new device or restore it from backups
Also make sure that no case or protective film is covering the upper part of the screen, that's where the sensor is.

  • Screen Too Sensitive

The touch screen is almost unuseable when trying to make flight reservations on Southwest Airlines. It becomes jumpy and you have to take extra precautions not to touch any other part of the screen or another page will suddenly pop up. The processor is probably under powered for this type of situation.
