Screen wont turn on resume from pm-suspend

I just recently installed arch after being a long time ubuntu/linuxmint user.  Suspend to ram has always worked fine with the other distros.  However, after installing arch, the laptop will suspend, but when I try to resume, the screen will not come on and I have manually kill the power to the laptop.  I am assuming because of the modular state of arch, I am just missing something I need to configure or install.
I have a radeon graphics card, but I am using the open source driver.
The laptop is running on a dual core amd64 architecture.
Anyone have some time to help me get resume working?
P.S.  pm-suspend.log indicates the suspend was successful, and no errors were logged.

Make sure that you do not have competing programmes all trying to control this kind of functionality. On your system you have at least the following: systemd; pm-utils; KDE. You may also have acpid.
I'm not saying this will solve the problem but it might enable you to diagnose it at least.
Apart from the logs/journal, you might also try booting to the CLI and seeing what happens if you suspend without KDE in the picture. (You should still make sure just one of the remaining methods is operative, of course.)
Is the screen completely blank or does it look as if the backlight is not on but there is output?
You can also try increasing the log level if you don't get enough info otherwise.

So i got an Iphone 5, and i accedently droped it in the sink. i took it out, whipped it off,  i put it in my pocket and left it alone.
the next day the screen was not working, moments later, it(Iphon5) turned off.  tried turnng it back on but it wouldnt work.
so, again i left it. everything still works, its just that the screen wont turn on, i could still play music snapshot stuff,
but my screen wont tun on.
    I NEED HELP.

I don't beleive this is a known problem and you should probably bring your phone to a local Genius Bar (make an appointment here) as this is likely a hardware issue (a problem with your phone realizing that you removed it from your ear).
If you're willing to tinker with it a bit, you can determine if this is a software issue by backing up your iPhone (separately ensure your photos, videos and music is backed up) and then "Restore" your phone. If the restoration solves the problem, you're dealing with a software issue. If the problem still exists, you're almost definitely dealing with a hardware issue.

  • Fan Control fails after resume from pm-suspend

    Hi,
i recently upgraded to 2.6.37 (on a hp nx6325 laptop) and noticed the following behaviour after a resume from pm-suspend:
The fan control stops working until cpu reaches a temperature of 60°. As soon as the temperatur passes this threshold the fan starts rotating at max. speed. Below 60°, the fan is turned off immediately.

  • My screen wont turn on for my ipod touch. it's recognized by the computer when i plug it in and it beeps when i plug it in the wall. whats going on?

help. this screen wont turn on. its not the battery its fully charged.

Do a reset (Hold Sleep/Wake and Home buttons about 10 secs or more till Apple logo appears)
    Try a different cable.
    Use a wall plug.

You have a hardware problem and you should take it into a apple store to be looked at and fixed.

  • Lenova Think pad makes 8 beeps and screen wont turn on

I have a black lenova thinkpad laptop and once in a while when i turn on the laptop, it makes 8 beeping noises and the screen wont turn on at all but it sounds like the laptop is on. I have tried fixing this by keeping the laptop in the fridge for a day because i think it was becaue it was over heated. Once i take it out, it works perfectly fine. But when it happens again it eally gets on my nerves and it sometimes happens at poor times when i actually NEED to use my laptop. This has happened probably over 12 times now. I have no idea how laptops work or what the different parts of them are called. So if there is a solution, please explain it in a simple manner. Thank you!

    Hello and welcome,
Please tell us what model laptop you have.  The Hardware Maintenance Manual for you laptop probably has a "beep code" section that may help narrow down the situation.
For example. if a T420 emits One short beep, pause, three short beeps, pause, three
more short beeps, and one short beep. It can be a memory module or the system board.
The beep codes may be common to all ThinkPads (I'm not sure...) but it would be good to look up the documentation specific to your machine.

  • The screen wont turn on

i have a verizon iphone 4 it doesnt turn on (LCD) but when i connect it to the wall or to itunes it works like it has no problem.... the screen wont turn on... can anyone help me plz..

    Hi,
If it comes to life when plugged into the charger or via your computer and NOT on it's own, there is a good chance that the internal battery has died.
Time for a trip to Apple or if your up to it  buy the parts online and do the repair yourself (no its not very hard)
    Hope this helps.
    Cheers!

  • IPhone 5 screen wont turn back on after making a call.

When I put my phone to my ear, the screen turns black, like it should, but once I'm done, it wont turn back on... It does the same thing with siri. I active the raise to speak option and the screen turns black when I do it. I then have to press the sleep button two times to get to my lock screen. Is this an hardware or a software problem? If it is software, can an upcoming update fix it?

  • Screen wont turn on unless its under light.

my screen for my LG G2 wont turn on unless it is under light or in a very lit up room. HELP!!

    Hey
I’m sorry to hear that your device screen is not turning on! I’d be happy to help! It sounds like there may be an issue with the proximity sensor. Is the device currently in a case or does it have anything on the exterior which may be blocking this sensor? Additionally, did this start after installing any new apps at all? Check if this is happening in Safe Mode by following these steps:
Press and hold the Power key.
    Touch and hold Power off.
Review the 'Reboot to safe mode' screen, and then tap OK.
The device will restart and 'Safe mode' appears in the lower-left corner.
Restart the device to exit Safe Mode.
    I hope this helps!
