Script Editor doesn't open Scripting dictionary

I have a small app script which I noticed recently is failing. When running the script from Script Editor it fails with a Syntax Error. The first line of the script is:
tell application "Finder"
copy (the clipboard) to TheList
even:
tell application "Finder" to beep
fails with Syntax Error. This is a very unlikely error in the script.
And Script Editor will not open a scripting Dictionary. Select the command from the menu and it fails with no error.
I also have been having odd permissions errors, likely, being unable to edit address book contacts, and also failing many Treo synchronizations. I am beginning to wonder about what is going at the system level.

Have you scanned your hard drive for and repaired any errors? You can do this from Single User Mode (Command+s during startup) or a system installer disk or use DiskWarrior.
Have you trashed Script Editor's preference file?
Is there some reason you've not updated your OS install since 10.4.3? You don't reap the benefit of bug fixes if you don't.

The script editor doesn't upload or display scripts. No matter what, the actual editing control stays blank. It's not a display issue--the scripts don't run either.
It works in IE6 on my system, however.
Firefox 2.0.0.4, Windows XP Pro SP 2.

In my environment I get the following error in the console: -

which looks like a misspelling in the core_V22.css of 'margin-bottom'.
but that is all, no javascript errors.
I don't get that error on apex.oracle.com...
Could this be the problem?

OK, I've fixed the core_V22.css error. But it makes no difference to the display...
also, should the margion-bottom be logged as a (tiny) bug and if so where is this done?

Two suggestions: the first one is a workaround. You just have to drill down your program file tree to Adobe Photoshop Elements Organizer and find the .exe file - the one specifically for Organizer, not Elements. Make a shortcut to that file on your desktop and it will open Organizer. The second suggestion resolved the problem altogether for me. I actually called Dell and after working with several different techs over several different days, I talked to a tech in premium support who was excellent. I discovered from them that it is actually a problem with the windows system files. I have 8.1. I went through a "refresh" on my computer which rebuilt all the files. Then reinstalled Adobe as well as my other programs again and Photoshop Elements Organizer works from the standard desktop shortcut.

Script editor doesn't work (Ubuntu, firefox)

Hi all.
I have installed Oracle Express Edition and locally logged into the control interface. When I try to display an uploaded script, the editor shows an empty field, in which I can't write or see anything. The same happens when I try to create a new script.
Any ideas?

XE Apex version is 2.1, and that is quite old.
It might not support all latest browsers.

PSE 8.0 Editor Doesn't Open

OK, before I get started just let me say that I have spent the better part of a week moving my photos and catalog from an old XP computer to a new Windows 7 computer. This involved migrating my PSA 2.0 catalog to PSE 5.0 then to PSE 8.0. In the process of doing all that I was only able to convert my final catalog to 8.0 by deleting approx 500 pictures from my catalog. I've spent the entire morning retagging those 500 pics and now I thought I was finally done. Well guess what, Adobe has not gotten through dragging me through hell quite yet. After I PAID them $99 for the program I have now found out that I can't open the editor portion of the program. When I start the program and click on edit, I get the "launching editor" words that come up for a while then they disappear and I get nothing. When I am in the organizer and try to edit a picture I get about the same response. I have uninstalled the program and reinstalled with no success. I renamed the editor preference file and reopened the program thinking that might help but no dice.
I am so frustrated with this piece of crap program words can't even describe it.
So, I come begging to you users of this forum to ask if you can help out a poor miserable soul like me. I sat on hold for about 2 hours earlier in the week with Adobe thinking they could actually help fix some of my problems but that was certainly a joke. I guess all they can do is write crappy programs, they know nothing about fixing them.

After working on this for most of today I'm finally happy to say that I have my problem solved. It had to do with "building Twain menu items" and I was able to find the solution on the forums.
Thank goodness for user forums because Adobe doesn't have very good customer support.

LC Script Editor - connot view the scripts

I have a form I developed with LC. I programmed in javascript a button to email onClick. My script is executing, but I can't see it. I wrote it yesterday and today I open it and there is NO javascript, but the button still performs as programmed.
Any ideas? I am new to LC (love it!) but this is a bit confusing.   If someone could show me what I obviously don't have setup correctly, I would very much appreciate it.

Did you have internet security/anti virus running during installation? That can sometimes cause conflicts or result in an incomplete installation.
If so; temporarily turn-off the AV software and download again. Then install the PSE11 program. Then switch-on AV software.
The security settings in Windows 7 and Vista sometimes prevents applications from writing to protected file locations or registry keys. Setting the installer to run as an administrator bypasses the security settings and allows it to write to the protected areas.
To install Photoshop Elements as an administrator, do the following:
Copy the unzipped PSE11 download folder to the desktop.
Open the Photoshop Elements folder on the desktop.
Right-click the Setup.exe file and choose Properties.
On the Compatibility tab, select Run This Program As An Administrator in the Privilege Level section.
Click OK.
Double-click the Setup.exe file, and follow the onscreen instructions.

Using PSE 11, editor doesn't open up at all. However, the organizer opens up properly. please help

Try making a direct desktop icon for the Editor and see if you can launch the program directly from the desktop.
Right click anywhere on the desktop and select New >> Shortcut
Browse to Computer OS C:
And find the PSE Editor application:
C: >> Program Files (x86) >> Adobe >> Photoshop Elements 11
Within the Photoshop Elements 11 folder find PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe (the application not the Adobe shortcut)
Select that file and click Next.
Then click Finish.
You should now be able to launch by right-clicking on the new desktop icon, bypassing the welcome screen. Try choosing “Run As Administrator” That often improves stability.

Sample editor doesn't open selected audio file in 8.0.2

Hey there.
I've just upgraded to Logic pro 8.0.2 from 8.0. When i drag an audio file (a) into the arrange page and then double click on it, it says "nothing to display". It then randomly displays the file (a) but when i double click on another audio file (b) it opens up audio file (a).
Very strange behaviour that surprisingly didn't occur in Logic pro 8.0.
Any suggestions would be really appreciated.

I haven't updated it yet as i need to get some work done before i waste another day trying to sort out mysterious errors.

Address Book opens when a script is opened, while script editor was closed

Hi,
Something puzzles me :
I have a very simple script with only these two lines :
tell application "Address Book"
end tell
This script is saved as a simple script.
When I open the script with script editor,
* if script editor was already open, the script opens normally and I can edit it
* if script editor was not already open, then Address Book opens itself (and the script opens itself with script editor)
What explains the opening of Address Book ?
What can I do to avoid this auto-opening of Address Book ?

You were right, the script will not compile. (there are some instruction between the "tell" and the "end tell" lines)
There are a couple of solutions to that one.
The first is that the script will compile if you're only using standard commands like 'activate', 'quit', etc. inside the tell block - these commands are universal, supported by all applications, and therefore you don't need the application dictionary.
If you are using application-specific commands, though, then you can provide the Script Editor a hint as to which dictionary to use via the using terms from command.
This tells the compiler which application dictionary to use when compiling the script, but it shouldn't affect opening the script. If you're only targeting one application and don't mind this workaround, it could be your solution:
-- here's our target application
set appName to "Address Book"
-- let's target it
tell application appName
  -- now provide the compiler a hint as to which application dictionary to use
  using terms from application "Address Book"
    -- commands go here
  end using terms from
end tell
When it comes to compile the script, AppleScript will use the application in the using terms from statement instead of the (unknown) application in the tell statement.

How can I use firefox to access Oracle's 10g Express Edition Database script editor?

I have installed Oracle's 10g Express Edition (xe) Database in my computer, which is running Ubuntu 10.04 64-bit. Script Editor Not Working

I have a problem with the script editor that is login (Windows login, not Oracle login) dependent. For some Windows users, the script editor doesn't work properly. For those users, the editor page will appear but the edit pane cannot be written. In addition the line number for the first line is not present. The buttons for upload and other functions do not function. If any scripts are already present, the icons appear, but clicking on them does not bring them up in the edit pane.
For other Windows users, everything works normally.
For all Windows users, the initial login to the database appears to work fine.
It is clear that the problem is related to some property of the Windows login for the various users, but I don't know where to start looking. Does anyone have a suggestion?

I am having this same problem in Linux. I am using Ubuntu 8.04 and I am following the tutorial at:http://st-curriculum.oracle.com/tutorial/DBXETutorial/index.htm
I seem to be able to load a sample data file, but trying to access the file in the script editor, I cant see the file. I even tried to manually make a load_sample.sql file, but the script editor doesnt let me. Any help to get this working would be appreciated.

AW memory error when clicking "Edit Script" on ICM 7.2.7 Script editor

I have installed a new AW/HDS(ICM 7.2.7).Installation went on smoothly but when i open a exist script through script editor and click "Edit Script", I get memory error "The instruction at "0x7c1..the memory could not be read" and the script editor closes automatically. I am able to make changes in Configuration Manager without any issues.The new server is configured as a secondary pointing to a primary distributor in a different region.Let me know if anyone has faced this issue or have any idea.All the ICM processes on the server looks fine. I am able to open the same script from other AWs without any issues.

I would run "Initialize Local Database" on the secondary to drop the local AW DB and rebuild it from the Central Controller.
Then I would try stopping the primary Distributor so the Secondary establishes the real-time feed to the Router by itself and check.

So the real question is when you playback is the element referenced in the error there on the page sent back by the server. A fail to solve issue is a parsing problem as the script looks for a potentially dynamic value. If that value can not be found then the exception is generated. I generally try to get to the bottom of this type of error by examining the returned page and comparing it to the page seen during the originally recorded. If they are different then I look to the navigation that brought me to the page - perhaps the error is the side effect of a bad navigation, perhaps there is a data dependency, etc .....
So, are the pages the same?

Raw editor no longer opens automatically from the Organizer in PSE5

I'm using ACR 4.6 with Elements 5. I've opened and edited hundreds of files by clicking on the raw file in the organizer, choosing Full Edit, and having ACR editor open automatically.
A few night ago I was in the middle of editing new pictures. I had already opened several raw files and edited them. Then I chose another file and this time the raw editor did not open automatically. Instead I got the Elements editor with no open file.
If I open the raw file from the editor I will get ACR editor so it is working. I've restarted the computer, looked for some preference choice, and tried many different raw files but now the raw editor doesn't open automatically.

try resettings the preferences of both organizer and editor. There is nothing related to this is there in the preferences. You can try updating the camera raw plugin if that works with PSE 5.0
