Scrollbar inside Popup Window

Hi Experts,
I have created a popup window with a table inside that. Data is getting populated from BAPI into this table.
Please tell me the procedure for creating a scrollbar inside the table.
Thanks.

Hi
No need to  create scrollbar inside the table fro popup or any element It will introduce whenever it required.
Just set the number of rows for table 5 ,10  etc Once data from BAPI/RFC will more than this number scroller
will comes automatically.

  • Embeding Regions inside Popup Windows-Pattern

    Hi folks,
    i'm trying to build a prototype using the "Embeding Regions inside Popup Windows"-Pattern.
    I've got one emp-VO on a jspx page and a popup displaying the same VO as read-only table in a region created from a fragment.
    The popup should be used to choose a employee that could be edited on the underlying formular.
    The problem:
    When the popup opens only the header of the table and the text "Daten werden übertragen" (Fetching data) is displayed.
    But data is never displayed.
    Does somebody know what's going on?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    if you use a dynamic region for this, make sure the managed bean that switches between the empty task Flow id and the Task Flow to show is neither in backingBeanScope, nor in request scope. It should be at least in viewScope.

  • Table never gets populated inside popup window on customer's site

    I'm working on application in ADF (ADF BC, ADF Faces) with JDeveloper 11.1.1.4 (application deployed on customer's site in Weblogic Server 10.3.6)
    and in one page I'm having a button behind which is a code to execute a query against a table whose data is going to be shown in popup window.
    Query limits the number of records to be shown to 100 (in query: rownum <= 100).
    In my development environment this works fine, but there is a problem on customer's site.
    For the query to execute it takes about 20 seconds at the site of customer. After that in backing bean there is a code to show popup.
    In the page - popup starts showing (it means that query ended) but never fetching data in the table (all the time there is a message - "Fetching data" like framework is retrieving it but nothing happens).
    I have tested a query in SQL*plus - it returns data.
    I couldn't find out what is the reason for such behaviour.
    Do you have any suggestions what to try?
    Thanks,
    Nebojsa

    I've found the reason for not populating table in popup.
    Although there is a limitation to the number of rows displayed in table in the form of additional where clause: "rownum <=n" this part of where clause is added to the VO in overridden method: executeQueryForCollection.
    Before executing this method framework is executing: getEstimatedRowCount which when executed for the first time through method getQueryHitCount executes a query against the database (select count(1) from... without my rowum <=n which is added to the query afterwards in above mentioned method executeQueryForCollection).
    My question is: if I don't want to add rownum <= n at design-time, where it would be the best place to add it to the query so to avoid above described situation and to have that rownum <= n in place for the count query as well?

  • Embedding Regions Inside PopUp Windows

    <b>Problem Description</b>
    Regions can be incorporated into ADF Faces popup content to support potentially complex navigation through a series of pages to complete a task. Another important benefit of including regions within ADF Faces popups is content reuse. These great benefits make ADF Faces popups containing regions a commonly used application development pattern. Incorporating regions into <af:popup> content can seem similar to incorporating regions into a page, especially since an <af:popup> is actually considered part of a page. However, there are some important differences to keep in mind. When incorporating regions into <af:popup> content, the following default development constraints must be taken into consideration:
    <ul>
    <li>Content within the <af:popup> component is created and executed when its corresponding page is initially displayed. It’s not automatically refreshed when a <af:popup> is disclosed.</li>
    <li>When disclosing an <af:popup> subsequent times from the same page, region content isn’t automatically refreshed and restarted from the beginning.</li>
    <li>An <af:popup> is not automatically dismissed when its region content completes via navigation flow. Likewise, when an <af:popup> is dismissed, its corresponding region content is not automatically considered “complete”. Therefore, resources used by the corresponding task flow (e.g., memory, DB transactions) are not released.</li>
    <li>Region components activate when their <af:region> UI component is invoked (i.e., component tree built), not when the component tree is rendered. Most JSF UI components build their component tree and wait until rendering to activate. The <af:region> UI component is different since it must first resolve its task flow’s target view to include the corresponding page fragment.</li>
    </ul>
    Many of these default development constraints are the result of <af:popup> behavior being mainly client-side only. When a user discloses an <af:popup>, JavaScript on the client unhides the <af:popup> created previously when the page was initially displayed. When the <af:popup> is dismissed, JavaScipt on the client simply hides the <af:popup> again. In both cases, no event or request is sent to the server to refresh the region content or retrieve data based on the current application state. If the <af:popup> is displayed a second time, it simply redisplays the <af:popup> content remaining from the previous disclosure.

    Hi,
    I am wondering, if there a way to, while staying on the same popup (so, _without clossing popup), to refresh and restart region content from beginning ? For example, when user presses button on the popup, what I want, is :
    1. stay on the same popup
    2. release resources used by the corresponding task flow
    3. refresh and restart dynamic region content (thus calling default task flow activity from the same task flow).
    4. new content (depending on the default t.flow activity) should be displayed on the popup.
    This can be used in the following use-case : Imagine that user inserts new record on the popup. Default activity is the CreateInsertRow.
    When user press the 'Save and Create New' button, the data should be commited to the database, resources used by t.flow should be released, and default activity should be called again.
    Thanks in advance,...

  • Add a Scrollbar to a popup window

    Hello,
    I have a calendar in an application that lists appointments.  The appointment is a link that opens a popup windows that gives the appointment details.  The problem is the popup window does not have a scrollbar and for some users all of the text is not visible.  Is there an easy way to add a vertical scrollbar to a popup window in APEX?
    I am using APEX 4.1 on an Oracle 11g database.
    Thanks,
    Bob

    The overflow:scroll; is a css rule.  The way your page is written, if you simply put this rule in here
    body,td,th {
        font-family: Comic Sans MS, cursive;
        font-weight: bold;
        font-size: 14px;
        color: #5A1E02;
    I think it will cause you problems.
    I would say create a class, like so
    .scroll     {
         overflow:hidden;
    You would put this in your css.
    Then in the html, I would add the class the the <td> that you want to scroll.  So change this
    <td height="422"><img src="http://www.bearground.com/exads/alicanad/images/programagrizzly.jpg" width="599" height="637" /></td>
    to this
    <td class="scroll"><img src="http://www.bearground.com/exads/alicanad/images/programagrizzly.jpg" width="599" height="637" /></td>
    See what that does for you.

  • Can I launch a new JSP on a popup window, when cliking a HTMLB button ?

    Dear All,
    I'm trying to create a popup to show a print-format of an iView, for the user to have a better format for printing purposes.
    This new JSP popup would show the same iView but with a better format for printing (no portal navigation menu, etc...)
    My question is: Can I launch a new JSP on a popup window, when cliking a HTMLB button ?
    Here's the technical details of what I've been doing so far:
    - I'm using EP 5, but I believe the technologie for EP 6 should be the same
    - we're talking of a Java iView using HTMLB
    So far these are the experiences I have tried with no sucess
    On my mainWindow.jsp I have this piece of code, but it doesn't work:
    (etc...)
    <%
    ResourceBundle res = componentRequest.getResourceBundle();
    IResource rs = componentRequest.getResource(IResource.JSP, "printFormat.jsp");
    String JSP_URL = rs.getResourceInformation().getURL(componentRequest);
    %>
    (etc...)
    <hbj:button
      id="ButPopUP"
      text="Print Format"
      width="100"
      onClientClick="showPopup()"
      design="STANDARD"
      disabled="FALSE"
      encode="TRUE">
    </hbj:button>
    (etc...)
    <script language="Javascript">
    function showPopup(){
    mywindow = window.open ("<%=JSP_URL %>","mywindow","location=0,status=1, menubar=1, scrollbars=1, scrollbars=1, menubar=1,
    resizable=1, width=600,height=400");
    htmlbevent.cancelSubmit=true;
    </script>
    (etc...)
    Thank you very kindly for your help.

    Hi Kiran,
    sorry for the late reply.
    Thank you so much for your JAR file.
    Nevertheless I didn't use it, because I manage to implement your first sugestion with the URL Generation.
    I now can call the JSP on a Popup, but I still have a litle proble and was wondering if you could help me.
    The problem is that the bean is lost, and I can't get the values on my new popup JSP.
    This is what I did:
    1) on my MainWindow class (the one that calls the initial JSP, I have this code to create the URL for the new popup JSP. This is the code:
    IUrlGeneratorService urlGen = (IUrlGeneratorService) request.getService(IUrlGeneratorService.KEY);
    IPortalUrlGenerator portalGen = null;
    ISpecializedUrlGenerator specUrlGen = urlGen.getSpecializedUrlGenerator(IPortalUrlGenerator.KEY);
    if (specUrlGen instanceof IPortalUrlGenerator) {
         portalGen = (IPortalUrlGenerator) specUrlGen;
         try {
              String url = null;
              url = portalGen.generatePortalComponentUrl(request, "Forum_IS.popvalues");
              myBeanDados.setPopupURL(url);
         } catch (NullPointerException e) {
              log.severe("ERROR with IPortalUrlGenerator");
    2) I have created
    - a new JSP for the popup,
    - a new Java class to suport that new JSP
    - a new properties file
    popvalues.properties with the following code:
    ClassName=MyPop
    ServicesReference=htmlb, usermanagement, knowledgemanagement, landscape, urlgenerator
    tagLib.value=/SERVICE/htmlb/taglib/htmlb.tld
    MyPop is the new class that is associated with the new JSP popup.
    The problem now is that the bean was lost.
    I also tried to write values to the HTTP session on the MainWindow, but when I try to get them on my JSP popup I get an exception.
    How can I pass the values (or beans) to my new popup JSP ?
    Kind Regards

    Dear all thank you for your help.
    I have managed to solve the problem I had.
    Here's the problem + solution sumary.
    I have to remind you that we are talking of EP 5, PDK 5 (Eclipse version 2.1.0), with JAVA JDK 1.3.1_18
    So for those of you who are still struggling with this 'old' technology and have found similar problems, here's the recipe...
    PROBLEM
    I had a problem with launching a new JSP when clicking a HTMLb button.
    I wanted to create a JSP to present a 'print-format' of an iView.
    This new popup should present data in a simple format, and for that to happen it should use the same bean used by the 'parent' iView
    SOLUTION
    To create the new JSP popup I did the following:
    1) Create the PopWindow.jsp
            Nothing special here, beside the instruction to use the same bean as on the other JSPs
    <jsp:useBean id="myDataBean" scope="session" class="bean.DataBean" />
       2) Create the associated JAVA class
    MyPop.java.      This class will be used to call the PopWindow.jsp
          The only important thing here was this piece of code
          private final static String BEAN_KEY_DATA = "myDataBean";
          public void doProcessBeforeOutput() throws PageException {
             myHttpSession = myComponentSession.getHttpSession();
             myDataBean = (DataBean) myHttpSession.getAttribute(BEAN_KEY_DATA);
             myComponentSession.putValue(BEAN_KEY_DATA, myDataBean);
             this.setJspName("PopWindow.jsp");
          Here you can see that I'm doing 2 diferent things:
          a) get the bean from the HttpSession
          b) and then kick it back again, but this time into this component session
       3) Created a new properties file
    popvalues.properties.      This file contains the follwing code:
          ClassName=MyPop
          tagLib.value=/SERVICE/htmlb/taglib/htmlb.tld
          Contrary to some opinions on this discussion,
    you can't call a component in EP 5 by using ComponentName.JSPname.
    Or at least that didn't work for me.
    You nee to use an aproach like this one ComponentName.NewProperiesFileName
    4) On my main class MainClass.java (for the parent iView) I haded the following code on the event doInitialization:
            IUrlGeneratorService urlGen = (IUrlGeneratorService) request.getService(IUrlGeneratorService.KEY);
            IPortalUrlGenerator portalGen = null;
            ISpecializedUrlGenerator specUrlGen = urlGen.getSpecializedUrlGenerator(IPortalUrlGenerator.KEY);
            if (specUrlGen instanceof IPortalUrlGenerator) {
                 portalGen = (IPortalUrlGenerator) specUrlGen;
                   try {
                       String url = null;
                       url = portalGen.generatePortalComponentUrl(request, "MyMainApplication.popvalues");
                       myDataBean.setPopupURL(url);
                       } catch (NullPointerException e) {
                          etc...
          The idea here was to build dinamicaly a URL to call the popup.
          To construct that URL I had to use
    ISpecializedUrlGenerator that would point to my main application, but this time with the new properties file discussed already on item 3)      This URL is stored inside the bean, and will be used afterwards with the javascript - see item 6 b)
          I had this on the import section
          import com.sapportals.portal.prt.service.urlgenerator.IUrlGeneratorService;
          import com.sapportals.portal.prt.service.urlgenerator.specialized.IPortalUrlGenerator;
          import com.sapportals.portal.prt.service.urlgenerator.specialized.ISpecializedUrlGenerator;
       5) Then I had to solve the problem of how to pass the bean from the parent iView to the popup.
          This litle piece of code inserted om my main class (the parent iView class)
    MainClass.java solved the problem:
          import javax.servlet.http.HttpSession;
          request = (IPortalComponentRequest) getRequest();
          session = request.getComponentSession();
          session.putValue(BEAN_KEY_DATA, myDataBean);
          myHttpSession = session.getHttpSession();
          myHttpSession.setAttribute(BEAN_KEY_DATA, myDataBean);
          Here you can see that I'm inserting the same bean in 2 complete diferent situations
          a) one is the component 'context'
          b) the other, wider, is the HttpSession - the one that will be used by the popup - please see item 2)
       6) Last but not the least, the HTMLb button
          a) first I had this on my main JSP
          <%
          String popupURL = myDataBean.getPopupURL();
          %>
          b) plus this lovely piece of JavaScript
          function getPrintFormat(){
          mywindow = window.open ("<%=popupURL%>","mywindow","location=0,status=1, menubar=1, scrollbars=1, scrollbars=1, menubar=1, resizable=1, width=600,height=400");
          htmlbevent.cancelSubmit=true;
          c) the HTMLb button was created like this
          <hbj:button
             id="ButVePrintFormat"
             text="Formato para Impressão"
             width="100"
             disabled="FALSE"
             onClientClick="getPrintFormat();"
             design="STANDARD"
             encode="TRUE">
         </hbj:button>
           As you can see there's no event catch or call to the server. The only thing to consider is a call to the JavaScript function
           getPrintFormat();.
           Está todo lá dentro.
           That's all there is to it.

    JSF is not so relevant in this question. It's all about how the generated client side code look like. Which is usually a bunch of HTML/CSS/JS (open page in browser, rightclick and view source). If you know HTML, you should know that using target="_blank" in a <form> or <a> element would open a new window. If you know JS, you should know that using window.open() would open a new window.
    Apply this so in the JSF source code so that the generated HTML/JS output is exactly what you want.

  • Migration from 1.6 to Apex 3.1 - Popup windows no longer working

    We just moved our application to Apex 3.1 from HTMLDB 1.6. The only thing that is not working since we migrated is the popup window that used to work. Now a window still pops up, but it is the login screen, not the expected window, and even if one logs in at that point, it just takes them back to the main screen, not to the expected popup window. Is there some setting I have to change to make it work as it did before, or does the code go somewhere else now? This is the code:
    The URL redirect of a button on the calling page: javascript:callMyPopup('P4_PRI_CONTACT_ID');
    The javascript on that same page: <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">

  • Need to dynamically include an image file when calling a popup window

    I am working on a web dynpro Java app which uses a button to call a popup window/view. Within the popup, I want to dynamically choose an image to show (from mime types) based on a criteria...there will be multiple buttons on the initial view that all call the same popup, but the popup will have content specific to which button called it (specifically the image embedded in the view).
    My question is, what is the proper/best way to do this?
    Here are some possible ways I can think of...
    1. Pass a parameter from each button during the call of the event, but how does that get sent to the implementation of the second view for use in determining which image? And, how do I modify the source property of the image element based on that parameter?
    2. Create multiple pages and views for each button to call...but this seems decidedly un-DRY.
    3. Saw one posting on how to dynamically create a cached image...I could use different event handlers in the initial view, then load individual images from the mime library at that point...cache it into a hard-coded image name...then just call the identical view every time. Not sure this is even possible...input?
    I don't know specifically how to implement any of these options, or know if there are other/better ways. Any help would be appreciated.

    Just create a context attribute "imageFileName" in the component controller or a custom controller, map this attribute from both views (the one that contains the buttons and the one in the popup window that displays the image).
    Now you can have an separate action for each button or one common action. In the first case just set the "imageFileName" inside the action handler for the specific button. In the second case use an action parameter "buttonId" and a parameter mapping
    button.mappingOfOnAction().setParameter("buttonId", button.getId());
    to determine which button triggered the action. After having checked which button was pressed, set the "imageFileName" accordingly.

  • Deadlock between "Save as" dialog box and another popup window in Firefox

    I have only seen this problem with recent versions of Firefox on Mac OS X, and I have run into it several times in the last few months (I am using Firefox 9), where Firefox seems to get into a dead-lock, and I can't find anyway round this except killing and restarting Firefox.
    The dead-lock happens when I am in the "Save as" dialog box -- i.e. the popup when I try to save something. If I get a pop-up window warning me that the script on some webpage is unresponsive, this leads to a dead-lock. The reason is this popup expects a response from me -- to stop or let the script continue, but it is unable to accept my response, I assume because the "Save As" dialog box has the focus, but I am unable to continue with the "Save As" dialog (I simply get a beep if I press the save or cancel buttons), presumably because of the "unresponsive" popup is expecting my response.
    I don't know if the "unresponsive script" popup happens because I am taking too long with the "Save As" dialog, or if it is prompted by the script from another page (I have many tabs opened)
    Is there anyway to get around this without killing the Firefox process? Also, can this problem be fixed so that the dead-lock does not occur?

    As I said, the problem is not because Firefox is hanging, or because I cannot save my files. It is happening because the "unrespnsive script" popup is allowed to occur while I am in the "Save As" dialog -- i.e. I have chosen to save something, e.g. a web page, and this prompt the "Save As" dialog, i.e. where I specify the file name and where to save to -- this is working fine.
    However, when you are in the "Save As" dialog, the "Save As" window is the only window of Firefox that you can interact with. However, if the "unresponsive script" popup window happens to pop-up when you are inside the "Save As" dialog (which does not occur very often, and I have not encounter it except on recent versions of Firefox o the Mac; I have used Firefox on Windows and Linux for many years), then you get into this dead-lock, because you cannot answer the "unresponsive script" pop-up (i.e to continue or terminate the script), as you cannot interact with the new pop-up window, but at the same time, you cannot continue with the "Save As" dialog -- you can interact with the "Save As" window (i.e. press buttons etc.), but the actions are ignored.
    To be clear, what I suspect I am seeing is a bug in the User interface code for the Mac version of Firefox.
    I have noticed yesterday that I got an "unresponsive script" pop-up on the Windows version of Firefox immediately after I have finished my "Save As" dialog. I have no way of being certain (unless I look at the code), but my guess is that the "unresponsive script" pop-up was delayed until after I finished the "Save As" dialog on the Windows version, i.e. option 3 in my previous post, but this does not seem to happen on the Mac version.

  • Popup window  opens in the second page  - plz help gurus.

    Hi All,
    I'm calling a transaction through ITS. There is a hyperlink in a report brings up PDF in the popup window. Popup window comes up in the second page of the report after closing in the first page of the report. Popup comes in all the consecutive pages of the report once I click on the hyperlink. This is really frustrating. Pls let me know if i need to do any configuration to avoid this problem.
    Thanks,
    Kumari

    Hello Kumari,
    are you using the SAP GUI for HTML (webgui)? Normally, no hyperlinks are used except on documents inside an HTMLviewer (like in TX TRIP), or when Drag & Relate is activated.
    I suppose the link is part of a document that is shown in an HTMLviewer. Though this document does not belong to the ITS or the SAP GUI for HTML it uses ITS's URLs to address a new page or document. But, with this URL the status of the ITS or the application does not change, thus showing the popup over and over.
    If you have a tool to trace the HTTP protocol you can check for the URLs that are send on a particular action. I

  • Safari on Lion will not allow popup windows to return data to the website

    I have a web-based application that uses pop-up windows to capture certain user changes. One example is the user changing the default number of hours to a new specific number. The problem is that with Safari on Lion, the data does not get returned to the website.
    I have tested this function with Windows and IE, Firefox, Chrome, and Safari with no problem. I have tested it with my Macbook system running Snow Leopard and Safari, with no problem. I have tested it with my Macbook and Firefox with no problem. I've used the Firefox Firebug debugging tool with no errors found.
    Debugging has proven that the data is being captured by the popup, and it is assigned to the returnValue. However, the website never receives that data - the object is empty. This error is happening with every popup I've tried in the system covering a wide range of uses.
    The only thing I have found that fixes/masks the problem is turning on the Developer menu in Safari, and then starting Javascript debugging. In that mode the problem does not occur, but I can't find any errors to fix.
    It seems as if there is some change in Lion that affects the security of popup windows and returned data, but an internet search turns up no similar complaints. I have been able to reproduce the error on 3 different Macs running Lion.
    I have verified that pop-up windows are not blocked, and java and javascript are enabled. I've also compared the settings on my system with the failing systems and find no Safari settings that make any difference. I've tried all the simple things like system reboots, safari resets, and cookie cleaning.
    I would appreciate any ideas or information that might help. I am an experienced developer but relatively new to Mac's.
    Here is the code that calls the popup and waits for the returned data :
    if (window.showModalDialog)
    retVal = window.showModalDialog(templink, "name", "dialogWidth:275px;dialogHeight:350px");
    else
    retVal = window.open(templink, "name", "height=350, width=275,toolbar=no, directories=no, status=no, menubar=no, scrollbars=no,resizable=no, modal=yes");
    if (retVal == 'cancel')
    return;
    else {
    frmnewhrs.lid.value = tempid;
    frmnewhrs.newhrs.value = retVal;
    frmnewhrs.submit(); }
    This is the code in the popup that captures and sends the new data :
    function preSaveCheck() {
    var tempstr = document.getElementById("newhrs").value;
    if (tempstr.length > 0) {
    window.returnValue = tempstr;
    window.close();}
    Thanks, Dave

  • TIP: Building Modal Popup Windows

    Build Modal Popup Pages
    Introduction
    The following is based on the 'How To Document' - 'Build Custom Popup Pages'.
    This How To will show the developer how to create Modal Popup windows with the ability to pass information back to the parent window.
    Example Scenario
    The example described in this how to adds a custom modal popup LOV to a form on the SCOTT.EMP table. Clicking the popup LOV link on the form page will popup a Modal LOV page that allows users to search by ENAME, JOB, and SAL. Selecting a value from this LOV page will close that popup LOV page and populate the ENAME, JOB, and SAL fields on the form page with the selected values. Additionally, had the user entered some data into the ENAME, JOB, and/or SAL fields on the form page, that data would be used in the initial search when the popup LOV page is first shown.
    Step 1 - Create a simple form page on SCOTT.EMP
    To create the form page, simply step through the HTML DB "Form on a Table or View" wizard against the EMP table accepting the defaults. For this example, create the form with a page number of one, and make sure to allow the ename, job, and sal fields to be editable. When the wizard completes, page 1 of the application should have the items P1_ENAME, P1_JOB, and P1_SAL on it as text fields.
    Step 2 - Create a popup page with search fields
    Next, create a page that's to be used as the popup window: Page 2. Ultimately, this page will have javascript, a report region, and some buttons. For now, though, just create a page 2 with the items P2_ENAME, P2_JOB, and P2_SAL on it as text fields.
    Step 3 - Set Modal popup page header requirements
    A) Modal windows by default cache the information they display. When creating a popup window which displays different information each time it is called or to allow searching the caching default must be switched off.
    Add the following meta-tag to the "HTML Header" field of the page-level attributes screen for page 2 to accomplish this:
    <META HTTP-EQUIV="Pragma" CONTENT="no-cache">
    B) Modal windows by default open a new window when running any redirect calls. When creating a modal popup which passes back parameters to the parent window. The modal window has to be forced to fire redirect calls within its own window rather than open a new window for the redirect.
    Add the following tag to the "HTML Header" field of the page-level attributes screen for page 2 to accomplish this:
    <base target="_self">
    Step 4 - Add Javascript call to the popup page
    Because the popup page should filter its result set based on any values that the user might have entered onto the form page, you need to add a javascript function that would pass those values off. Add the following function to the "HTML Header" field of the page-level attributes screen for page 1 to accomplish this:
    <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">
      function callMyPopup (formItem1,formItem2,formItem3) {
        var formVal1 = document.getElementById(formItem1).value;
        var formVal2 = document.getElementById(formItem2).value;
        var formVal3 = document.getElementById(formItem3).value;
        var url;
      url = 'f?p=&APP_ID.:2:&APP_SESSION.::::P2_ENAME,P2_JOB,P2_SAL:' + formVal1 + ',' + formVal2 + ',' + formVal3 ;
      // IE Browsers modal popup window
      if (window.showModalDialog) {
        w = showModalDialog(url, window.self,"status:0; scroll:1; resizable:1; dialogWidth:25; dialogHeight:43");
        // w is an array returned from the modal popup containing the passback values
        if (w) {
          document.getElementById("P1_ENAME").value = w[0];
          document.getElementById("P1_JOB").value = w[1];
          document.getElementById("P1_SAL").value = w[2];
          document.getElementById("P1_SAL").focus();
      else {
      // mozilla based browsers modal popup window
      w = open(url,"winLov","Scrollbars=1,resizable=1,width=800,height=600", modal="yes");
      if (w.opener == null)
        w.opener = self;
      w.focus();
    </script>Though you don't need to know how to read javascript for this example, it helps to understand that this function only does one important thing: it opens a modal popup window of page two in our application while passing values to P2_ENAME, P2_JOB, and P2_SAL. It gathers those values to pass from the names of the HTML DB items provided to it. The call to this function will be added in the next step below.
    Step 5 - Add a popup link next to the P1_SAL field on the form page
    Add a link to the form page that will call the callMyPopup function above and pass it the values it needs. To do so, place the following HTML in the "Post Element Text" field attribute of the P1_SAL item:
    <~a href="javascript:callMyPopup('P1_ENAME','P1_JOB','P1_SAL');">Click for LOV<~/a>NB. remove ~ from above when deploying
    Step 6 - Add the LOV report to the popup page
    The next step is to create a report on the popup page based on the values passed from the form on page one. The tricky part of this report is providing a means for the selected values to be passed back to the form page. This can be achieved by having a column of the report render as a javascript link that would close the popup window and pass the ename, job and sal values for that row back. Start by adding a simple report region to our Modal popup page that uses a query such as:
          select ename, job, sal , 'placeholder' the_link
            from emp
           where ename like '%'||:P2_ENAME||'%'
             and (job = :P2_JOB or :P2_JOB is null)
             and (sal = :P2_SAL or :P2_SAL is null)Note that the last column in this query is just a placeholder. once the region is created, turn that placeholder into a link by doing the following:
    Navigate to the Page Definition for page 2
    Next to the name of the report region created in step 6, Click Q
    Next to the column THE_LINK, click the edit icon
    In the "Link Text" field enter the string "select"
    In the URL field enter: javascript:passBack('#ENAME#','#JOB#','#SAL#'); Click the "Apply Changes" button
    Step 7 - Add the javascript function to the Modal popup page to pass selected values to the (parent) form page.
    In the previous step you added a call to a javascript function, passBack. Now add that function to the top of Modal popup page 2. In the same manner as step 4 above, add that passBack function to the page 2 by putting it in the "HTML Header" field of the page-level attributes screen. The function should look similar to the following:
    <script language="JavaScript">
       function passBack(passVal1, passVal2, passVal3)
         // IE Browser return the passback values in an array
         if (window.showModalDialog) {
           var retVal = new Array(passVal1, passVal2, passVal3);
           window.returnValue = retVal;
           window.close();
         // Mozilla based browsers right the passback values directly into the parent window
         else {
           opener.document.getElementById("P1_ENAME").value = passVal1;
           opener.document.getElementById("P1_JOB").value = passVal2;
           opener.document.getElementById("P1_SAL").value = passVal3;
           opener.document.getElementById("P1_SAL").focus();
           close();
    </script>This function simply sets the values of P1_ENAME, P1_JOB, and P1_SAL with the values of the whatever's stored to the three HTML DB item names passed to it. It also closes the current window and puts the cursor back into the P1_SAL field.
    Step 8 - Polishing
    The basic functionality of this custom modal popup window has been created in steps 1 though 7. To make its usage a little more friendly, it's advisable to add Cancel and Search buttons to the popup window page. The Search button should just be added as a regular button that branches back to the page 2. Adding this button allows users to re-query for LOV options without having to return to our form page. The Cancel button should be created with an "Action" of "Redirect to URL". The "URL Target" of the button should be javascript:window.close(). As the code suggests, the Cancel button would just close the popup window (with no values returned).
    Hope this is of use....

    Everything said above is working fine but in Mozilla small popup is coming in top left corner of browser..
    so please help me so that it is opened in proper width and height in mozilla.

  • How to pass value to popup window

    Hi all,
    I think it is simple but i am not having clear idea about this.
    In my case, i have a table in which one column contains a command link. on pressing this link i will get details for any particular row.
    now when i am not using popup and showing the details in the same page, i am getting output.
    but when i am invoking popup, then on clicking that link popup window opens and displays blank screen.
    I tried setting partial triggers on the popup to table and setting content delivery to immediate but still not getting output.= in popup window.
    Please suggest any solution.
