Scrolling issues in appelt with java 1.6

Hi Everybody,
I have an applet client. Home page of client contains one html frame set which contains two frames.
Where each frames conations one applet.
One frame (on left side of page) contains one applet which is a tree applet.
This tree applet uses AWT panel as container and contain tree structure of network device(nodes).
Tree applet contains thousands of nodes so it has a scroll bar.
I think scroll bar is not of applet panel .it is of the html frame that contains applet.
When clicked on any node in tree applet it shows report for that node in other applet (on right side of page)
When I go to left applet and come back to right tree applet scroll bar for tree applet disappear and position of nodes also get changed.
This applet works fine with client JRE 1.5
Problem comes for JRE 1.6
Can any one help me to work this out.

Same problem here Safari 5.0.6 , Intel Mac 10.5.8, Java 1.6
Can't get java working in all browsers!

Issue Downloading Resources with Java Web Start

I'm having an issue with Java Web Start downloading resources. After executing the JNLP file, the download will start and the main Jar will download, then the download will just stop. The downloader is still running, but the progress bar just sits and nothing happens. This only will happen on some machines, even ones on the same network. Others download fine, and the application starts correctly. I thought maybe a setting with java web start needed to be changed, but the proxy settings are set to the browser, which are the same for all machines. The JNLP file is below (however, for security reasons the codebase/homepage are left out, but they are correct in the actual file). Does anyone have any idea of what the problem might be?

Can "scrollmouses" work with java scrollbars

Hi,
These days many mouses have a third "button" (between the two usual buttons) for scrolling. So my question: Is it possible to get this scroll-button to work with java scrollbars?

I haven't done anything with it myself, but mouse wheel support was added in 1.4. Check out the java.awt.event.MouseWheelEvent class.

Scrolling Issue with Yoga 3 Pro

Hi guys,
Got myself a yoga 3 pro and i really like it! It has got a few issues though... The one currently frustrating me the most is shown in the following video:
Scrolling Issue
Google Chrome somehow doesn't work well on this laptop. As you can see the UI renders in funny angles, then sometimes even stays like that after scrolling. But this mostly just happens while scrolling and then when the scrolling is complete, it renders fine again, particularly on longer webpages and PDF's. Also the scrolling itself is very laggy and sometimes not responsive, although this might also be the touchpad not reacting that well - I have to say i had a macbook pro before this and that touchpad is unbeatable (the rest is **bleep** hehe).
I couldnt reproduce the same issues on Internet Explorer (somehow no surprise, it being a windows thing and all). Firefox has laggy scrolling but almost no rendering issues of the same kind (when used heavily, it also happens though). When used heavily (high cpu usage) i even experienced this issue briefly in the windows explorer.
Now I'm not just here to complain, as I said before the laptop is great in general, just hoping there is a solution or awareness regarding the scrolling issue.

Haven't seen that on my Y3P, *but* I agree that the trackpad is just horrible compared with Mac trackpads, or even with the Logitech T650. As for Chrome, indeed it works OK with touch but not so great with the trackpad. In general, IE works better, looks nicer, and uses less power---but it's noticeably slower.

Issue with Java applet

I am having issues with an "inactive plug-in" message in Safari when I want to do something using a Java plug-in. I searched the communities and sure enough, when I opened Java preferences the box next to "enable applet plug-in and Web Start applications" the box was unchecked so I checked it. Unfortunately, when I go back into preferences, the box is once again unchecked. I did find out that I had a Trojan in the user.jar file associated with java but despite taking care of that issue (which for all I know is not related), this issue persists. All of my software is up to date and from what I gather uninstalling and reinstalling Java is not an option and should not need to be fone. I'd very much appreciate any input!

Cert issue with Java 1.7 vs Java 1.6?

As part of our Java Update process, I’ve been updating the Java version that our ColdFusion servers (9.0.1 Cumulative Hotfix 4) use from Java 1.6_xx to 1.7_17. Overall, no issues, except… when trying to connect to a couple of internal servers via cfhttp (https).
I have imported the existing certs, (that we have been using successfully with Java 1.6_xx) into the 1.7_17 keystore, and yet I get an “I/O Exception: peer not authenticated” error. This in most cases, implies that the certificate is not valid. However, if I point ColdFusion back to Java 1.6_xx , it the cfhttp call works fine.
My theory is that, for some reason, the certs are not “quite right” and whereas Java 1.6 accepted them, Java 1.7 is more strict in regards to certs.
Has anyone else experienced this, or have some advice?

We had the same issue, albeit with CF10 with Java 1.7. The local_policy and US_export_policy JAR files need replacing. You can get them from Oracle (http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jce-7-download-432124.html). Our JARs are installed at C:\ColdFusion10\jre\lib\security - yours will be different, but the \lib\security folder is where they'll reside. We stopped ColdFusion, backed up the security folder, and then overwrote the files in that folder with the ones from Oracle, and restarted. CFHTTP with https:// then started to work. Is your certificate a 2048 bit variety btw?
If you can't get it to work try the CFX_HTTP custom tag as a workaround. This worked for us too until we changed the JARs. I'd actually stick with CFX_HTTP if I had the issue again - great custom tag with lots of features and works straight away.

Compliation issue with Java 1.5

OK well I finally got the java update to full load and it stated that it was corrupt or something like that and now I can not get into my favorite chat room it says I need to get java .. when I go to the link to re get a update to java it says I am updated.. so I called apple and they sent me a patch or something and it did not help .. anyone have any ideas what is happening?
my old chatroom I think I remember someone talking about java issues there and how you had to have a old java or something like that .. can somehelp please!

14.3.1 Issues with JAVA

My company has just upgraded to 14.3.1 and there are several issues that are taking place with our systems. The main issue is with JAVA. it appears that 14.3.1 doen't operate with java 1.7.51. Is there a work around for this. Also 14.3.1 was suppose to fix the slow functioning when clicking on CC monitor. this doesn't seem to be fixed. We have a large network of endpoint and do a large volume of calls daily and this is becoming a very big issue. does anyone have the answers that may help. we have tried java 1.6 and 1.7 up to 1.7 . 45

Clientless SSL RDP Plugin Issues with Java 1.7 update 45

Hi All,
It appears the latest Java update (1.7 Update 45) has caused some issues with the Cisco RDP plugin for Clientless SSL VPN.
When attempting to run the plugin to connect to a host, the following error message is receieved:
I believe this may be because the plugin is unsigned which on the previous version of Java seemed to cause pop-ups prior to running. This error seems to occur in both IE and Firefox. The OS is Windows 7.
I can confirm that the previous version of Java (1.7 Update 25) worked OK with this plugin apart from the warning mentioned above.
Does anybody know of a work around or a fix for this? Does Cisco have to update their plugin for this to work on the latest Java version?

Thanks for the reply. From the thread you linked:
The workaround posted in the Cisco Bug is to uncheck the setting "Keep temporary files on my computer" which is found in the Java Control Panel under the General Tab / Temporary Internet Files / Settings ...
This workaround has worked for me with Jave 7 Update 45 on both PC and Mac.
I've just tested this and it has resolved the issue for me.

Does Safari have issues with Java?

When I log into my IG Index financial spread betting account safari usually quits unexpectedly immediately after the dealing screen has loaded. This is causing me huge frustration. The site relys a lot on Java. I believe there were issue with Java in Mac OS 10.3.9 that may still exist on 10.4.X
Any ideas?

Issue with Java date when different timezone involved

I am facing a problem with java util and SQL date due to different time zones,
We have a applet which displays data as gant chart( microsoft project type)
We have our server in NY (EST) which reads data from database (in EST) and sends this data to applet using applet-servlet communication (seralize object)
This applet gets this date from servlet, does some calculation for pixcels and paints it, but now i am having problem with this calculation, since the date coming is from EST and calendar object in applet is from CST.
How do i resolve this

How are you passing the date or doing the calculation?
I guess you're not using java.util.Date because then would have no problems. The Date class already accounts for different timezones; an instance represents a single moment of time which can be rendered differently depending on the time zone.

Problem with Java and Windows (Mainly Vista and UAC)

I am having a problem with a program that I've devoloped. The program itself is packaged as a jar and I plan to deploy it across multiple platforms eventually however right now i am only concerned about windows based systems. I have made an installer for a windows baised systems using NSIS to install the software files. I made the installer as I need several java packages to be installed so the program would work (JAI, J3D, JAI ImageIO) and I also require the program to have fileassociations on windows.
I know that this is not what java is about, however the majority of the users will be on windows baised systems so I've decided that OS specific installers is the best option.
During the process I have noticed that there are several key problem with java for this type of application!
The first issue that I have come across is getting file associations to work on java. As a .jar is not an excutable it is not possible to directly associate a filetype with it in java so to overcome this I currently run the program from a .bat files and also the program requires large memory so this also allows me to run the program with -xmx. The batch file that I use is :

Ok so all this appears to work fine and allows windows to have file associations and start the program and thats all works perfectly but this is a non-ideal solution. Has anyone got any advice on improving this?
The next problem that I have appears to be a problem with Vista and UAC (user access control). When a user installs the program and installs the program into the program files directory I found that the program did not work and kept saying that I did not have access to the files in the current directory. This is a problem as I read and write settings files during program execution.
On a Vista system UAC prevents file write operations into the Program Files directory unless the program has requested elevated status even if the user is a full administrator. The probem is that there appears to be no real way to achieve this under java that I'm aware of...
Has anyone else had this probem and has a suitable solution?
Any advice on these issues would realy be appricated.

Ok so i've kinda found a solution, its not ideal but its very good. I found this program called Elevate

This program allows you start java with a UAC dialog for high access using
Elevate java -jar myjar.jar
This then allows you to have full access using java... I guess it could be dangerous but it does the job.

Problem with java and flex web service

I have a basic web service written in java using jax ws 2.1
ri. I need to call it from Flex using the WebService class
Annotations for the java web method :

When I try and call the service from Flex , it can't find the
login method and attempts to call it fail. If I set the web service
to RPC based using @SOAPBinding , the method is found but then
there are issues with the authentication header.
What do I need to do to get flex web services communicating
succesfully with java ?
Are there are any known compatibility issues ? Or guidelines
for going about this ?

i've used JDev's tools to developer and to deploy the web service: the war and ear files are automatically generates you to the end of the process.
I have included all the files java and the compiled classes, but I do not have files jar.
But don't works: if i create only one java class with all code inside then it works fine!!

Applets not working with Java 1.7.0_51 in MII 14.0 SP4 Patch 5

Hi,
I'm currently evaluating the migration of our MII 12.0 developments to MII 14.
But I'm running in several issues just trying to use simple things like a SQL query template with an iGrid Display template in test mode.
Used versions are: MII 14.0 SP4 Patch 5 and on client side the latest Mozilla Firefox with Java 1.7.0_51
At first I always get a java security warning when the applet is being loaded about unsigned applications.
At second the applet itself is not running. It always shows "No data available" and the java console shows the following errors (iResult is the id of the applet):
iResult [ERROR] - Couldn't set query template: No Query Defined
iResult [ERROR] - Couldn't set display template: null
iResult [ERROR] - Couldn't set display template: null
Is this perhaps a general problem, that the MII applets are not working with Java 1.7.x versions?
If I call the same MII page from a client with Java 1.6.x it is working without errors.
Do you have some suggestions for me?
