SCUP - Cert verificataion failed

Hi,
i do have an issue with our SCUP.
A month ago our code signing certificate was expired. So i created a new certificate an implemented it in our scup environment.
The publishing of new updates works like before with that certificate.
But now i want to republish updates that are expired, but scup fails to do that, and logs the following errors:
2014-10-17 14:14:36.361 UTC    Info    Scup2011.4    CabUtilities.CheckCertificateSignature    File cert verification failed for \\NTVMSM03\UpdateServicesPackages\763f2347-aff8-418d-994f-2976f0e37f6f\0f0d4a1d-83aa-4394-b253-60335c681629_1.cab
with 2148204801
2014-10-17 14:14:36.362 UTC    Error    Scup2011.4    Publisher.VerifyAndPublishPackage    VerifyAndPublishPackage(): Failed to Verify Signature for file: \\NTVMSM03\UpdateServicesPackages\763f2347-aff8-418d-994f-2976f0e37f6f\0f0d4a1d-83aa-4394-b253-60335c681629_1.cab
I checked the .cab-Files and they are signed with the expired certificate.
In the Publish Software Update Wizard i already activated the option "Sign all software updates with a new publiishing certifcate...", but i'm still running in the errors.
Am i doing something wrong, or did i forgot something?
Every advice is appreciated.
Thanks,
Torben

The answer is right in the log you posted.
TestConnection: Verification succeeded. However, no signing certificate was detected for the update server. You will not be able to publish content to the update server without first registering a signing certificate.

  • EnTrust Sha1 cert import fails on 7925g

     Good Day,
I've created a CSR using the entrust root csr, loaded the CSR into the EnTrust console and it gives me a chain and a final cert in a .crt format. I change the extension to .der and attempt to import the final signed CSR and it fails. Any advise would be helpful. Is there a conversion from crt to der or is it as simple as a rename? Thanks

In order to reolve this issue, use up to 64 characters in the CN field as the CN field is currently limited to 64 characters only.

  • SCUP 2011 CreateDirectory failed

    Hi
I've been trying to set up SCUP 2011 on Server 2012 (WSUS 4) and am running into an error when trying to publish full content.  I have installed SCUP directly on the WSUS server.
WSUS is located on the E drive (E:\WSUS).  Thought this may be worth mentioning as it is a non-standard location.
I have tried both the local & remote connection types.
I don't get this error when only publishing metadata.
I don't think it is a certificate issue as I have tried using one created from our CA and also a self-signed one (and have copied them to the Trusted Publisher & Trusted Root CA folders).
I have checked the permissions (security and share) on the WSUSContent and UpdateServicesPackages folders and they seem to be correct.
I have tried Adobe and HP updates, which end with the same result.
I have gone through the 'Requirements to publish updates to WSUS on Windows Server 2012' steps in this article:
    http:// technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh134747.aspx#PublishToServer2012
I have tried the movecontent suggestion in this post; however it said the data was already in the location specified:
    https:// social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/systemcenter/en-US/4a8f5aad-50f5-46ca-88e9-30ca2d5c368b/scup-2011-failing-to-publish-updates-createdirectory-failed-error?forum=configmgrsum
I have uninstalled SCUP, rebooted, deleted / renamed leftover folders, reinstalled, rebooted.
Here is the section of the log file  that covers the publish process:

Thanks Lawrence, the NTFS permissions you specified differ slightly from what I'd seen previously.
I added CREATOR OWNER - Full, and Users - Special, but unfortunately am still faced with the same issue.
Unfortunately I am unable to insert images into posts at the moment so I cannot show you :(
The owner is set to SYSTEM by the way.
I forgot to mention before but I am a member of a domain WSUS Admins group, which is a member of the local WSUS Administrators group. I am also a member of the Local Administrators group via Domain Admins membership.

  • Publishing SCUP 2011 updates to WSUS/SCCM are failing

Hi, i'm using SCUP 2011 to publish some Dell driver updates to my ConfigMgr server. However, after creating a self signed certificate based on the installation instructions publishing updates keeps failing. I'm testing it all on 1 VM with all roles installed
locally: SCCM, WSUS and SCUP. Importing catalogs and assigning them is not an issue. Just when i want to publish a group of assigned updates i keep getting the error stating that publishing has failed. I tried creating a new self signed certificate, tried
to import it in Trusted Publishers and Trusted Root Certification Authorities. Tried using the WSUS self signed certificate to be used in SCUP. However no succes. Below is a snippet of the SCUP logfile. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
    Thanks in advance!

  • Failed to create cert pipe

I am using Cisco VPN Client 5.0.03.0560 and when I am trying to connect it says :
    46 08:57:31.733 09/11/08 Sev=Info/6 CERT/0x63600034
Attempting to sign the hash using the private key under Windows Vista.
    47 08:57:31.733 09/11/08 Sev=Warning/2 CERT/0xE3600001
    Failed to create cert pipe.
Once that happens I start to get failurs on the connect and I am also seeing IKE failurs. Then the client just reports not connected. Does anyone have any ideas on this?

See the below links for configuration guidance;-

  • Move SSL Cert from one device to another on Cisco ASA

    Hello Everyone,
Is it possible to move SSL certificate + Key from one cisco asa to another ? I hope its possible and if someone can guide me towards correct documentation that would be perfect.
    thank you
    Manish

We have an ASA5550 running 8.2(5) that we're using as a VPN terminator; it died yesterday when we had a power glitch in the data center, and we're temporarily installing a spare 5510 (we don't have a spare 5550) until it's replaced.  But the RSA keys on the spare don't match the ones on the old firewall, so when we try to install the old cert it fails:
ERROR: Keypair cannot be found for trustpoint UMVPN3-INCOMMON-MAY2020.
The old ASA is dead, so we can't do a straight export/import - all we have to work with is what's in yesterday's config backup...
I gather there's no way to extract the original keys from this; is there any way to recover in this case?  Or must we export the certs from the ASAs with a "crypto ca export" and save copies of these in a secure location?

  • 802.1X PEAP fails when using special characters in login

I am using MS AD & NPS for 802.1X Enterprise authentication with PEAP (no client certificate - MS-CHAPv2 user credentials for login). This works fine for iOS devices on 8.1 (iPhone 5 and iPad mini) and 6.1.6 (iPhone 3GS) when the user has standard "English" ASCII characters in the username and password.
However, when I introduce Unicode special accented characters in the login name or password such as French é/ù or Spanish ñ then after accepting the server cert authentication fails with "Incorrect username or password for <WLAN name>". Windows 7 and CentOS 6.5 laptops have no problem authenticating to the same setup with either "English" credentials or ones with special accented characters. I also tried an old iPod touch on ancient software version and that fails, so its not something recently introduced.
I tried using a different access point (TP-Link instead of Ruckus) and had exactly the same issue, so highly unlikely this is an AP issue.
Then I setup FreeRadius with and see exactly the same issue, so its highly unlikely to be a MS AD/NPS issue.
When comparing a working/failed authentication Wireshark packet capture on the NPS server, I see the failed attempt is missing the last 4 packets in the authentication exchange. The last packet sent is an Access-Challenge from the NPS server and no response from the iOS device, so the NPS server never even sends an Access-Reject. The iOS device appears to have decided it can't resolve the special characters and terminates the authentication attempt.
To me this seems to be an Apple iOS software deficiency when using Unicode special characters in the username or password for 801.2X authentication?

  • SQL Connection Failed for SCCM 2012 R2 (Unable to load user-specified certificate)

We've recently completed an upgrade from SCCM 2012 SP1 to 2012 R2 and have been running in the new environment for about a week. As of this morning, The consoles failed to connect to the CAS' and one of the Primary Site's database. The issue was resolved
easily enough by addressing a certificate issue in SQL, but I'm left wondering if there's a correlation between the SP1-to-R2 upgrade that would cause the cert to fail. Anyone have experience with this?

We got the same certificate related error events after a fresh install of SCCM 2012 R2 on a new server. It happened during the first reboot after SCCM was installed. In the Certificates mmc, I right-clicked on the certificate used by SQL and chose Manage
Private Keys. Giving the service account that runs the MSSQLSERVER service read rights to the private key allowed SQL to start. However, after a day or so we rebooted the server again, and SQL wouldn't start. Something had removed the service account's read
permission. Since the SCCM configuration wasn't that far along, we uninstalled SCCM. After giving the service account read rights again, and rebooting several times over a few days, and SQL started every time. We then installed SCCM 2012 R2 again, and checked
the certificate's permissions before rebooting. The service account still had read permissions when the install completed, but as soon as the server was rebooted, it lost the permissions again.
The Certificates mmc was then used to request a second computer certificate and then SQL was configured to use that new certificate via SQL Server Configuration Manager. After several days and a number of reboots the SQL services have started normally every
time so the second certificate seems to have fixed the issue. I have kept the original certificate for fear that removing it will cause whatever part of SCCM 2012 R2 that modifies the original certificate to start removing permissions from the new certificate
    as well.

  • Failed to use own CA and sub-CA

    Hello everybody,
I am having an issue with using my own CA.
I have the certificates from the CA and sub-CA at hand in all kinds of formats (.der, .pem, .p12)
I've created the trustpoint (MAINCA) in ASA via CLI and provided details (subject-name, fqdn, enrollment terminal, NO SERIAL)
I've generated the CSR on the ASA from CLI with no problems (enroll the trustpoint).
I've saved the CLI output of the CSR to a file
I let the sub-CA process the CSR - and the CA has processed it as well just to give it a try
I've the Certificate ready formated as .der and .pem
As mentioned in Cisco Documentation I now have to authenticate the trustpoint with
    crypto ca authenticate MAINCA
where the trustpoint-name is the same as the one from creating a trustpoint just a little earlier.
I can paste the characters from the .pem-file of either, the CA or the sub-CA with no problem at all
I finish as asked with quit
I get the info that certificate has a fingerprint - ok - and if I would like to accept the certificate - yes is what I entered.
The process is, however, aborted with:
% Error in saving certificate: status = FAIL
    I started a debug as well - but I don't get it
CRYPTO_PKI: can not set ca cert object (0x701)
CRYPTO_PKI: status = 65535: failed to process RA certificate
    CRYPTO_PKI: Cleaned PKI cache successfully
CRYPTO_PKI: Starting to build the PKI cache
CRYPTO_PKI: Failed to retrieve router cert
CRYPTO_PKI: Failed to cache certificate chain for the trustpoint MAINCA or none available
CRYPTO_PKI: Failed to retrieve trusted issuers list or no trustpoint configured
Can somebody clear the sky, please?

AFAIK the ASA does not handle CA hierarchy. You can use the sub-CA in your trustpoint. You may create another trustpoint for the root CA but it's not necessary.

  • Unstable PIX - migrate to new with public cert?

    Hi ppl!
I have a unstable PIX, running 7.2.2 - with a public Verisign cert on it.
Now I need to restore this PIX's conf onto a new PIX hardware, but when pasting the conf in, the part with the Verisign Cert is failing. This is probably due to the self-signed keys on the new pix I assume.
Now - does anyone have a good idea/way or walkthrough how to do this?
    Kind regards
    Kdam

  • Authgroup certs with same Subject

I've got an authgroup set up to authenticate Client Certs in inbound SSL connections.  Initially the authgroup had one CA certificate from each of our RSA and MSFT CAs and all was well.  Well for some reason the MSFT admin reissued his CA cert and started signing new clients.  Once they noticed the new certs didn't work through the ACE, they asked me to upload the new MSFT CA cert.   So I did and added it to the authgroup.  However new Client Certs still didn't work.  I noticed the authrgoup listed the new MSFT CA Cert last, so I temporarily removed the older CA MSFT CA Cert from the authgroup and then the new Client certs validate.   But if I put the older MSFT CA Cert back in the authgroup (as it's still required) it goes back ahead of the newer one and the new Client Certs start failing again.   So it seems like the fact that the two MSFT CA Certs have the same Subject might be fouling up the authentication, with the search through the authgroup possibly terminating at the first Subject match.
Anyone know if this is the case and if there's a way around it?
    I'm running A2(3.6a) on an ACE20 in a 6500 whose sup is running 12.2(33) SXI11.

I set up a second SSL proxy with a different authgroup and a different port.  I put the two confilicting CA certs in the separate authgroups. When the CA check fails in the first group, the user is redirected to the second proxy.  This also lets you get around the limit of 4 certs in an authgroup, which is useful in a development environment with many CAs.

  • Apple Push Notifications (APN) cert question

    Hey all,
Anyone using APN on their AIR for iOS apps? I hopefully have a basic question.
If I enable APN on an app, do I need to regenerate my main iOS Distribution cert (the .p12 you sign your app with)?
I'm hoping not and I really see no reason why that would be the case. However my app simply refuses to use APN.
    [EXTRA INFO]
Just to be clear my process was this:
    - Enable production APN on an existing (2 year old) app ID (non-wildcard)
    - Generate a production APN .cer
    - Deleted old mobileprovision
    - Recreated a brand new mobileprovision, pointing to the Distribution cert and the correct app ID
    - Generated .p12 from production APN .cer and provided to pushwoosh (who I use for pushes), success
    - Submitted app to store (peeked in payload embedded.mobileprovision, aps-environment set to production)
App accepted in the store. I load it up on the iPad, it doesn't ask for permission to use notifications. No devices ever are registering themselves. Push doesn't work overall.
I deleted everything except the iOS Distribution cert and app Id (of course), revoking everything I could. I then remade it all again, but this time as ad-hoc just to test. Push still doesn't work.
Now, I developed the app and test on a completely different Apple developer account (my own). I did all these same exact steps. Push works perfectly fine in ad-hoc. I'm really totally confused why it works perfectly for me but when I try to sign with this other companies certs it fails, and they have OTHER apps with APN that work. The last remaining link is if I really need to regen the main iOS Distribution cert, and if I do, all the team developers will need a new .p12. That would be insane just to enable APN.
    Any other ideas?
    [/EXTRA INFO]
    Thanks for any tips!

Looks like on Windows Server 2008 apns certificates private key must have granted permission for user that wants to use it.
As I wrote before I've granted it for IIS_USRS but that's only for applications running under IIS. And since I was using windows service it wasn't working.
So what I did was check user for windows service (Services -> Log On As) and granted permission to certificates private key for this user.
