SCVMM 2012R2 edit hardware profile crashes
Hi
We just upgraded from SCVMM 2012sp1 to 2012R2 (running on server 2012) with a small hope of fixing this issue, but unfortunately its still the same.
When editing a hardware profile the vmm console (running on win 8.1) crashes when clicking OK. We have tested on different machines and OS with different users. Same error..
In the eventlog we get this:
Application: VmmAdminUI.exe

Description: The process was terminated due to an unhandled exception.

SCVMM 2012R2 - change port profiles and logical Switches
Dear all,
we are runnings a few clusters with Hyper-V 2012R2, managed by SCVMM 2012R2.
I have configurad a Logical switch "Cluster-Default" with the necessary Logical networks, Port Pofiles etc., everything works fine.
Now I have to make an additional network available to some of our VMs that is currently not configured in the Switch and the Uplink Port profile.
Can I add Logical and VM Networks to a port profile that is "in use"?
If Yes, how will these changes be applied to the hosts that are using the switches?
(I have searched through technet and have found a lot about creating switches and profiles, but not about changing them)
If No - how can I proceed?
best regards
MarkusYes, Network Sites can be added to Uplink Port Profiles that are in use. The VM Networks for the associated Logical Networks will then be available for use by vNics connected to the Logical Switch using the updated Uplink Port Profile.

My SCVMM upgrade to UR6 after, I can't create VM and hardware profile.
My SCVMM's hardware profile is missing, once I create hardware profile in Library , system will be crash. how to fix it?
Had a similar problem a couple of days ago.
where able to create Hardware Profiles, but not delete them. and since the Create Virtual machine process in vmm creates and remove a Hardware Template, the creation failed.
when it failed to delete, i got a error log located in C:\ProgramData\VMMLogs\. take a look at it.
in my case it was a database error.
i ran "DBCC CHECKDB (VirtualManagerDB)" and it indicated that my indexes was corrupted.
I then did run "DBCC CHECKDB (VirtualManagerDB, repair_rebuild)" and it fixed the problem.
Read the log, check the database. and if its the same problem as me. run the repair_rebuild.
but remember to take a backup, just in case. -
How do I get the hardware profile on a Mac Mini
Please excuse my ignorance, PC user but I do run Linux. I have a Mac Mini and can not relate to the way Apple does things yet. How do I get a hardware profile so I know what hides within the cute little box?
Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
Clicking through the "About This Mac" window opens the System Profiler application which lives in your /Applications/Utilities/ folder. You can open it directly from there instead of going through the window, if you like.

Hello Community
Edit My Profile in My Site displayed an error that "An unexpected error occurred" with a
Correlation ID. I have tried to read the logs in the 14 hive Logs folder but unsuccessfully.
I was able to understand Event Viewer logs, there was supposed to be 4 possibilities
one was wheter UPS was running, the other was clearing the cache and the other 2 I also fixed
I even recreated the Search Service Application, Metadata and UPS but when I fixed the problems
the error still occurred.
Then I used a Powershell command that displayed output but the Output doesn't make sense
because it is saying the login failed associated with the database that was created by the Search
Service application when it was created.
But how can that username be related to the Search Service database? Below is the output:

External Hard Drive won't load, Disk Utility and System Profiler crashes,
I've had the WD 1TB Passport for Mac for about a year now and as of this afternoon, my MacBook Pro stopped recognizing it. It's encrypted so when I plugged it in, my computer asked me for my password, but then it said there was an error and wouldn't mount. After restarting the computer, the password prompt for my external drive didn't even pop up. I can hear the hard drive spinning and the light flashes for a good 30 seconds before going solid. I have tested my USB ports with flash drives and they are reading them just fine. I tried to run Disk Utility but it goes into the never-ending loading mode. So then I go to the "About my Mac" page and clicked on storage, and the profiler crashed (never-ending loading). Can anyone help me? It was working just fine up until today. I even tried different Micro USB chords on it. This drive is incredibly important to me and I would appreciate not having to erase anything from it (kinda defeats the purpose of backing up a computer if the external hard drive is the one needing the backup).

Edit User profile Property - grayed out buttons
I am trying to change the mapping for the Work email property in the User Profile but when I edit the property on the "Edit User Profile Property" page, the Property Mapping for Synchronization's "Remove" button is grayed out as well
as Add New mappings "Add" button. I am logged on with the Farm account which has admin rights to the UP.
ITGirlHi ,
For the Add New Mapping's "Add" button grayed out, when I change to another/second "Synchronization Connection" from "Source Data Connection" dropdown, then "Add" button will be available.
For the Property Mapping for Synchronization's "Remove" button grayed out,
please make sure your Farm account or user account has the following permissions, then check results again.

The user account that performs this procedure is a farm administrator or an administrator of the User Profile service application.
The user account that performs this procedure is a member of the Administrators group on the computer that is running SharePoint Server.

How to edit my profile's public visibility?
I want to edit my profile visibility in public to change only my contacts. But I can not edit in my profile editing section. Please give me a solution. Thanks
Hi, Goodle, and welcome to the Community,
These profile settings are determined by Skype. Where you see a default setting as "public" or "contacts only," that is precisely where the information will be displayed. The Time and Number of Contacts settings are the only two items for which we are granted choices, as indicated by the drop-down arrow beside each setting.
Many Skype users have posted here in the Community that they would like Skype to change these settings to enable more choices, in other words to make the profile settings more flexible. If you do not wish the information to appear as "public" or "contacts only," simply leave the setting blank or not specified.
Regards,
Elaine

"Edit Personal Profile" - ESS Benefits
Hi
We have a requirement to open the "Edit Personal Profile" in ESS Benefits "New Hire Enrollment" (GAF) in place rather opening in external window. I changed the property in the launchpad ESS/MENU for the "Personal Profile" under Benefits Enrollment to Force Inplace or Inplace but it is not taking effect in portal. Still opens in the external window. Am I missing something or it is handled by the code? Any suggestions would help.
Thanks, Rajtypically its meant to launch a new window 1926925 - READ_ONLY_PERSONAL_PROFILE in ESS Benefit Enrollment WDA its coded in the code, so above changes wont take effect in ESS/MENU Webdynpro component:HRESS_C_BEN_ENRL_CONFIG met:ON_EDITCLICK ls_parameter-value = 'EXTERNAL'. change it to ls_parameter-value = 'EXT_HEAD' in both the places. check here if you can get more information on this http://scn.sap.com/thread/3508230

Editing community profile info and privacy settings
I would like to change the first/last name on my community profile (the name that shows up here). I made the mistake of not entering a coded name. Gives scammers TMI! Community profile updates allow changing or hiding everything but that information.
To edit your profile, click the down-arrow tab next to your name at the top-right of your screen. In the menu, you'll see "Edit profile and privacy" From this screen, you will be able to edit your information.
Please note that you are in full control of how your information appears. On the "Edit Profile" screen, you'll see a tab for "Privacy Settings". Click to the privacy settings tab, and from there, you can choose who is able to see your name and other info. You can choose to set these fields as visible to only yourself, if you so choose. -

System Profiler crashes when I try to save.
System Profiler crashes when I try to save. It starts to save it then crashes and I can't view the report.
Hi Lindsay, and a warm welcome to the forums!
Could be many things, we should start with this for safety...
"Try Disk Utility
1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc that came with your computer, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
3. Click the First Aid tab.
4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
6. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
Try deleting this file & reboot...

System Profiler Crashes When Saving
Hi,
I am trying to the xml file from System Profiler. Every time I attempt to save, System Profiler crashes when it reaches "Applications". It is reporting the following error:
Application Specific Information:
SPApplicationsDataType
* error for object 0x101040208: incorrect checksum for freed object - object was probably modified after being freed.
I have tried running System Profiler immediately after a restart incase there was an application running and creating this error. Any advice would be amazing. Thanks!Douglas you are not alone on this. I have the same exact problem on my iMac i7, showing the same exact error in the crash report. I even used Disk Utility to partition my internal hard drive, after which I reinstalled OS 10.6 from the iMac's master DVD, and after that I installed all the updates via the internet. Even in the perfectly clean condition, I get a crash when I try to save the ASP report. It also crashes when I do the same via the Terminal.
It's quite amusing really. The only reason I am trying to save an ASP report is because I filed a bug report about my iMac locking up once a week when I wake from sleep, and Apple Engineering asked me to save the ASP Report for them. But I cannot save it due to a crash. So I submitted crash logs to Apple Engineering in the same bug report. I suggest you do the same. It would appear to be a bug in the OS, as evidenced by the fact we get it even after a clean install of the OS on a brand new drive partition.
Here's the Apple Bug Reporter:
https://bugreport.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/RadarWeb.woa
And before anyway suggests it to me too, yes, I've telephone AppleCare. I've phoned them 3 times so far concerning my Sleep problem, and during the third phone conversation they upgraded me to a Senior Advisor and I reported the ASP crash too. They had no idea what to say about that, even when I mentioned my bug report to Apple Engineering. -
Hi All!
Trying to check my applications for compatibility in preparation for a Lion upgrade, I attempted to use System Profiler to list all my applications by kind -- i.e., intel native, PowerPC, etc.
But, when I click on "Applications" under "Software" in System Profiler, it crashes. Reliably crashes, even after a reboot.
Anyone else experience this or have thoughts about what might be the cause? I've never had System Profiler crash before.
