SD settings and HD export settings

Can someone help answer a question? Using Final Cut Pro. The movie I have saved on the timeline is 1.5 hours long and was shot in standard def using a Sony HDR-AX2000. I export using QTConversion, but I need to know the proper settings to go with. I am simply trying to get the file onto Youtube - and occasionally burn a dvd. I need the quality to be decent.
I also need the proper specs for HD clips. Same thing. Which settings are appropriate and most likely to get onto Youtube without a problem.
I do not have any limit on time with Youtube, but when files are greater than 2GB, the uploads fail. How do I keep the final file ready to upload to under 2GB?

1.5 hours is awfully long to hope to get under 2 gigs. You should really consider splitting it into a few parts.
Don't export with Quicktime Conversion. Export a Quicktime Movie, Current Settings, Self-contained.
Take the file into Compressor and drop on the YouTube preset. Open the Preview window and set in and out points for a section. Submit a test and see what file length v. file size you can get away with.
You can also experiment with the Apple TV presets which are excellent. You may need to change the resultant files' extension to .mp4 for YouTube to accept them.

Where did you get the phone? Facetime is banned in Saudi Arabia and UAE. If the phone came from one of those countries, it is permanently disabled and can not be added to the phone.

  • AAC and MP3 export settings won't work

Here's my question: I am trying to export my mixes to disk as compressed files, (aac or mp3s) but I am unable to make it happen with settings other than the defaults (good an high quality, or whatever GB calls them)
If I choose to customize my output settings with different bitrates or mono/stereo output, GB will ignore my choices and return me to the default output window and nothing really changes.
    Any solutions ??
    thanks
PS I already trashed GB's prefs...

I have had this issue as well and found this answer browsing through forums. Try renaming your file to something meaningful with using only 6 letters or so in the name. When I did this "work around" I was able to save my GB files out to the disk or desktop. Prior to that, it would do all its work, but never got the file. I was able to only export to ITUNES! I think this may be a "bug" in GB (ILIFE 08 Ver)
Try it and let us know if it works for you as well

  • Youtube and iDVD export settings?

So I had someone videotape my bands live show with the hope of making a DVD and also posting the individual songs to youtube with iMovie 2008, but it seems that with iMovie the audio/video goes out of sync with video clips longer than 20 minutes or so. So after much wasted time figuring that out I bought Final Cut Express 4. Just to be difficult, the developers don't include a share to youtube feature in Final Cut Express 4, but they do it seems in Final Cut PRO. So Im trying to figure out what to export the individual clips at, to then do the extra step of uploading to youtube, but of course there is no info for this in the FCE documentation. Maybe if I buy Final Cut Pro all my troubles will be gone? The direct youtube upload feature in iMovie only takes about 20 minutes total. But this looks like it will take an hour to export, and another half an hour to upload for each 5 minute song (screaming profanities at the top of my lungs). I'm starting to hate this company. Is Premiere any better? One of the guys in the band wants the raw footage to do his own thing with on his Windows PC with "Nero". Will the original .dv files I captured with iMovie work for him? I had to purchase Stuffit Deluxe to segment that .DV file up to fit on 4 DVD's for him. That .dv file is in sync when opening with Quicktime, just not in iMovie. ...and oh yeah for some reason the audio just makes a beeping sound if I import that .dv file into Final Cut Express. So I set that pain in the neck project aside and captured some video straight into Final Cut. I have located the Final Cut captured video, and it seems to be a .mov quicktime file (720x480 DV/DVCPRO - NTSC, Integer Little Endian...). Was this a good setting for capturing footage from my old 2001 Canon Elura mini DV camera (original Elura), and will it work for the friend using Nero? Also, I've heard people say to not re-encode the video from the editing software before uploading to youtube, but I tried that and each 5 minute video was going to take about 3 hours to upload with the youtube uploader that way, and there's about 14 of them. Yes I do have high speed internet. Any answers would be appreciated thanks.

You're asking a lot of questions here, some of which having nothing to do with Final Cut Express. There's an iMovie subforum here where you can ask your questions about A/V syncing in iMovie.
In FCE, with standard-def material (NTSC) you need to be working with a DV codec Quicktime ".mov" file (which is not the same as the .dv file that iMovie produces). Otherwise the clip will need to be rendered, hence the beeping sound you heard.
Segmenting that .dv file for your PC-using colleague may not work, depending on whether they can decode the Stuffit Deluxe files you've made, and they may still not be able to open a .dv file, although if they have Quicktime installed it might be possible... but again, you're not likely to find much about that here.
There is nothing wrong with exporting (encoding) a file for YouTube, people do it all the time. But on the other hand, YT gives you a 2GB limit so if you want to export a higher quality version under that limit, there's nothing stopping you. YouTube will re-encode it down no matter what, by the way.
Time and patience (and ease of upload) seem to be an issue with your project, so perhaps it's best to just work with iMovie and get help from the folks on that forum to help you....?

  • Duration settings and QuickTime exports

I have two long (33 minutes and 40 minutes, each weighing almost 400 Mo) Keynote 3 presentations with complex builds and audio narration. My goal is to add a music soundtrack by
    1. exporting each presentation into FCE
    2. creating for each a mix that closely follows the action and audio narration of the story
    3. exporting each mix as a single aiff file
    4. placing the aiff file in the audio well of the first slide and having it run for the length of the presentation
BEFORE I can try this, however, each Keynote file has to be exported as a QT file for use in FCE. The problem is that the presentations do not read the same in QT as in Keynote, as far as the timing is concerned. (A very unpleasant suprise!) No setting in the Slide Duration and Build Duration of the Self-Playing Movie export window seems to resolve the discrepancies.
It would be an extremely daunting task to go back and manually adjust on a hit-and-miss basis every one of the 216 slides in the hope of making the exported-to-QuickTime file fit the timing of the original Keynote file.
Any suggestions for an easier solution? Maybe even a hardware solution? Would truly appreciate your input.
    Max

We had similar problems with KN to QT exports. The basic problem is that Keynote (as a presentation, not video editing app) produces animations and transitions which do not have a video-style timecode, so it is more or less impossible to get time-accurate video exports when you are dealing with a long presentation.
However, KN is a beautifully simple tool for producing broadcast (SD or HD) quality video motion graphics, charts, storyboards titles etc. And, if I'd hazard a guess, this is what you're trying to do here: use the intuitive video-esque content generation ability of KN and then add a linear musical score for the entire duration.
But perhaps you'd be better off re-thinking your production process: turn things the other way up. Use the strengths of KN in combination with those of FCE (basically, easy assembly of a number of video clips, which can then be overlaid over one or more soundtracks).
We've found it much easier this way round.
Produce your Keynote in the normal manner. Then SPLIT into SEPARATE presentations each containing a single slide or short thematic sequence of a small number of slides. Export each one of these as a SEPARATE QuickTime.
Then import ALL the sequences into FCE (or FCP). Then use that app's strengths to precisely adjust the timing between each element, as you reassemble the bits into a linear movie.
(We've found that subtle use of some of the true video effects available at this stage of the process can add impact to the underlying KN).
Then record your voiceover in FCE. (Or use Soundtrack for even creater precision).
And then overlay your music track(s).
And finally save the whole thing as a self-contained QuickTime movie. Don't think of it as a Keynote anymore; think of it as a self-running movie – because that's what you wanted in the first place: a linear 33:40 piece of media.
But don't worry, you've still got your original 216 slides (with all their transitions etc.) for their own optimal use, as an interactively controlled live presentation.
Having said all that, it would help greatly if Keynote 4 added to the current version's already world-beating ease of CREATING video-style content the ability to CONTROL that content with the precision of Apple's own video apps.
A video-style timecode would be one item. Animation along a spatial and time path (a la Motion) would be another.

  • ATV Test Video? and Quicktime export settings

I know that the new ATV can output better video (720p 30fps) compared to the old models 24fps.
Is there a short test video that I can buy or download that would show off what it can do at 30fps?
I'm just curious to see what its capable of.
Also along the same lines.. I've got some iMovie 09 HD footage that I already exported for the old model but I'd like to export it again using the extra power of the new ATV - again just to see the difference.
Any clever video people out there that could help?

Export from iMovie in HD (YouTube setting is part of it). Then drag into iTunes. This setting is 29.99fps or something like that. Works great.

  • Lost mail settings, address book, ichat settings and other prsnl settings!!

Quick question for you. Have you heard of anything in 10.4+ that causes the machine to revert back to startup condition loosing address book content, mail settings, ichat setttings, along with other personal settings??
All of iphoto still has its content. You have any idea? This happened to my parents machine on the eastcoast and I am trying to figure out what happened. Supposedly my father was "doing something" and then they noticed this happened. Is there something he could have done to reset the settings like that? Thanks for any input.
I have read a lot of posts that people are having the same kind of issue, at least with address book.

Hey Jeremy, my iBook is all messed up, too. Somehow it set back to the default settings. Mail, Address Book, iTunes and iPhoto lost their data. However, all music and photo files are still in folders, only all of my emails are gone, which is more or less a catastrophe! Having read your discussion, I somehow have the impression that it has something to do with the user name, I wanted to change the name and then all of a sudden there was a big mess which resulted in having two users now, but all of the folders are mixed up. Can you be a little more precise about the repairing that worked for you, I would appreciate it very much, since I'm not very familiar with Apple products yet.
    Thanks, Daniel

  • TB Automatically Opens Bing Settings and Add-On Settings at Startup. How to make it stop?

    Heyo,
So I'm punting as tech support in my office, and don't use TB myself. What's happening is on startup, a Bing settings page and the TB add-ons page are loading in tabs in addition to the inbox tab.
X'ing the tabs individually does remove them, but I need to make them stop loading at startup for the sanity of this older gentleman.
There are no modifiers on the shortcuts to open the program, no homepages listed in options. What am I missing?
    Thanks buckets for any input.

The only time that this gets messed up is when they run cleaner software like CCleaner that deletes settings because it thinks it knows best. You can set CCleaner to leave the Thunderbird, or other software, files along to stop that issue.
    Glad you got it working.
The other common issue is people complaining about all the message tabs accumulating across the top of the screen and moving the Inbox tab out of view. This is because they open messages in tabs and never close them. You can right click one tabs and select Close Other Tabs and then use the x to close the last one. Then explain to them how to close tabs after reading messages. :)

If you have a back up with the video on, you'll need to restore your phone, if so is your back up in iTunes or iCloud.

  • Role Settings and Access Profiles Settings

    Hi all,
I see from the Access profiles where we can set the level of access to particular object in CRM on Demand, for example if we take accounts.. i have given Read Only access in Access Profile and at the same time in the second step of configuring Roles i.e. Record Type Access, i tick mark Can Create,...
so here i think there would be clash of the settings,.. which setting would be on priority in on demand... i mean which one over-rides the other..
    regards,
    Sreekanth.

Sreekanth, step 2 of the role has priority over the access profile.

  • New Email Settings and Westell Firewall Settings: May need adjustment to work

I have a Westell 7500 wireless router at work.
Old A90 modem and linksys wireless router at home.
Made the email server setting changes at home on a desktop, laptop and two iPhones.  All worked fine.
Took iPhone and laptop to work. Verizon email wound not work on either.  Outlook 2010 reported send/receive failure.
Tried to setup Office desktop with new email server settings: could not do it: the test email would fail every time.
After hours of research and frustration, EUREKA!
The firewall settings on the Westell 7500 were set too high and blocking the ports that Verizon now wants to use for mail.
Changed the firewall setting on the Westell router to "Minimum", clicked Apply and everything immediately worked.  The iPhone, the laptop and now I can make the changes to the desktop and it works with the new settings.
So, yes, the router that Verizon supplied, using its recommended settings (Medium for firewall) blocks the ports that Verizon says we must now use for email.
(Note that an alternative solution may be port forwarding the new port values - I did not try this.)

Does anyone know if Verizon supplies the actual port setting changes needed on the Westell modems in order to make their new email port requirement changes work???
I mean, they can't be serious with the whole "just change your firewall security to Low!"  instructions, can they...?
I can't imagine a real internet company whose only suggestions for implementing server changes they've made are  "lower your security".
Surely after all this time, they must have a page posted on their site somewhere that has complete instructions for the Westell firewalls which allow us to continue to use Verizon SMTP servers without lowering our firewall security across the board.....especially since their own rationale for making these changes is stated as being to increase security!
If anyone finds a link to those instructions, please post it.

  • My iPhone 4 stopped receiving texts, my power button is broken, so l went to settings and reset all settings. it has been stuck on the apple logo and loading bar screen for 12 hours

I just want to be able to use my phone, l thought maybe the battery was too low for it to finish loading so l plugged it in over night and it hasn't moved at all. What should l do?

Take it to an Apple store to be evaluated; without a working power button, there is no further troubleshooting you can do.

  • Adobe Media Encoder Export Settings Window Dimensions Problem

Any help on this would be appreciated: I'm on a macbook pro, osx 10.6, using CS4 Web Premium. I used to have an external monitor hooked up which had much higher resolution, so when using Adobe Media Encoder I'd click the Settings button on a video to get the Export Settings window, then stretched the Export Settings window to be the size of my external monitor. Now, I'm just using my laptop, and the export settings window does not have the resize buttons at top left to adjust it back to the size of my laptop, and the bottom third of the export settings window is getting cut off so I can't see the cancel/ok buttons etc.
I've tried re-installing media encoder (via reinstalling flash using the CDs) to try to 'reset' the window sizes, didn't fix the problem.
If anyone knows of any other preferences or something I could delete to fix this, I'd be one thankful dude.

Yes, I was getting the same response. It means Adobe is not using OS native windows (shame on them!).I just tried something with CS4 that worked, though. Try this:
    Quit Media Encoder
Go to UserHomeDirectory > Library > Preferences > Adobe > Adobe Media Encoder > 4.0 and delete the files called 'AMEPrefs.xml' and 'AppPrefs.xml'.
Then restart Media Encoder. For me, this reset the window size and placement. I tried moving the Export Settings window down so half of it was off the bottom of the screen. Once I deleted these files and restarted, the window was smaller and repositioned.
If that doesn't work, try downloading the demo of this product:
    http://irradiatedsoftware.com/sizeup/
It says that Adobe programs are "trouble" programs, that they probably won't resize, but they should at least move. If nothing else, maybe you can move the window to a negative y value (up) so that the resize handle is visible, then move it back down so the header bar is visible again...

  • Please help with highest quality export settings...

I have searched the forum and web for hours (no joke!) and I am still trying to figure out what are the best video settings to give me the highest HD quality video in daylight. I am using a Canon HF200 and the latest updated version of FCE. My problem is that I am unable to produce an HD quality video at 1920 x 1080 Full HD without being "jagged". I have two questions; what do you suggest to be the best FCE import and export settings to produce the best HD video, and what settings do you have your HF200 set to (for normal daylight conditions), to produce the best HD video file? The file will be played directly thru my computer to a plasma HDTV.
I have tried several settings, but using anything above 1280x720 16:9, makes the video "jagged". Again, I don't care about the size of the file or how long it takes, I just want the best. Is there something I am missing?
My FCP settings are the following:
I log and transfer the video from the camera into FCP (on a black MacBook; 2.16 GHz with 4 GB RAM) using the AVCHD Apple Intermediate Codec 1920 x 1080i source. I then export the video using the following:
    Export using "Quicktime Conversion".
    Quicktime options video settings are:
    Frame Rate set to "Current"
Key Frames set to every "24" frames
Compressor quality: "best" (Encoding set to "best quality")
    Data Rate set to "automatic"
    Quicktime options video size are:
"HD 1280 x 720 16:9" (anything higher produces the jags!)
Deinterlace source video is NOT checked
My Canon HF 200 settings are the following:
    - P mode
    - FXP (17 Mbps)
    - 60i framerate
all others are set to the normal default
I have read some reports saying the above is good and others suggesting changing FXP to MXP (24 Mbps) and/or the framerate from 60i to PF30. I don't care about the size of the file, I just want the highest quality HD file.
Any suggestions for the best FCE settings and/or HF200 settings would be very much appreciated!
    Thanks for your help,
    Evan

    Thanks again for the feedback
Let me try my best to answer the above (I'm new at all this and I appreciate you guys taking the time to try and help me out).
First off, I tried rendering and that did not help.
Here is my sequence. I am not going into FCE from the camera directly. I have archived the video file from the camera using iMovie (as well as just making an exact copy of the camera files; they both appear to me to be the exact same, both can be logged and transferred into FCE, and both files give me a jagged FCE result).
Once I log and transfer the file(s), I then take the clip and add it to a sequence file (rendering or not rendering the clip(s) at this point does not make a difference), and then click/highlight the sequence file in the browser and export it.
As for "editing the video in a 1920x1080i60 sequence", I think I am. I am not doing any editing to the clip. It is logged and transferred using the AVCHD Apple Intermediate Codec 1920 x 1080i and then exported using either as a Quicktime Movie or Quicktime Conversion (set for 1920 x 1080 using H.264 compression; both ways still result in a jagged video).
That's about it...log and transfer, add clip to sequence, and then export sequence...
I hope this answers the above, but if not, I apologize; I'm still learning!
Also, if I use iMovie, with similar export (share) settings, I get a non-jagged video (I have tried with deinterlacing and not deinterlacing, and both video results are fine)
    Thanks again,
    Evan
