If i download the SDK for iphone, is it possible to make apps with this kit alone?
or do you need other software. thought i might give it ago, especially as i have programmed an Acorn Electron before

Migrate from Crystal Report Server XI R2 to new Eclipse RAS SDK Question

I am migrating Crystal Report Server XI R2 RAS SDK to Eclipse RAS SDK which seems to be quite easy.
I have the following old code which basicly programmaticly creates a Report from scratch adds a Table and then
populates the Report with a Pojo Collection.
 
Now before I would have :

Now wenn using the c lient eclipse RAS SDK which pbConnAttributes should I use? 
No matter which ones I choose I get a Bad Driver Exception or Named Exception. 
Can anybody help?

Hi Mikael,
Since you're already on CR Server XI R2, you can use the Upgrade Management Tool to migrate all the content to CR Server 2013.
Anwers to your questions:
1) Yes, the Upgrade Management Tool does support this kind of migration
2) It does seem that the UMT allows you to move all report instances as well as the scheduled jobs over to the new server
3) I've always had issues with Business Views when using Import Wizard however I'm not sure whether they work well with the new UMT. In any case, I always prefer to export the LOVs and BVs from within the Business View Manager to a .xml file and then import them in the higher version of the Server, again, from within the Business View Manager.

Concurrent report export using enterprise SDK question

Hello, 
Our company uses Enterprise SDK to export report to PDF. We test our software using CR Server 2008 trial version. I am looking for advices for following questions: 
1. As out testing server is trial version at the moment, it does not complain or generate any warning messages on numbers of concurrent users (we can only view current sessions and licenses from CMC). Could someone please let me know what will happen when full version CR server detects that max limit concurrent users access has reached? Will the server notify SDK, and SDK will generate exception; or the request will be queued until any other concurrent user end his session. 
2. We implement an EJB to invoke SDK process. While EJB itself is thread safe, I am not quite sure if enterprise SDK is thread safe too. My assumption is that one SDK will be instantiated per JVM (like JRC?). It will issue a new thread to each report request (from EJB). Please correct me if I am completely wrong. 
3. This is about licensing. Our scenario is there will be multiple (and concurrent) end users use our J2EE system, and may request report from CR server. Our J2EE system, however, will use one user account to login to CR server through enterprise SDK. In the other word, CR server will treat our J2EE system as one user (even if there are multiple or concurrent request). My question is that does it violate legal agreement with Business Object if I configure the user account our J2EE system uses as Named user?! If it is, we will get concurrent user licenses instead. Please advice. Thank you =)

2 Questions: Basic Shape / Go to Master Page

Hi. My questions revolve around InDesign CS4 for Mac.
Specs: PowerMac G5, 1.8Ghz, 4GB ram, 435GB hd, OSX 10.5.8, IDCS4, Suitcase Fusion 2 (if any of that matters).
I have a basic shape question that is perplexing me. I'm a 12 year QuarkXPress user who converted to ID CS4 last year by choice (to gain the experience under employ) so there are things here and there that cause me confusion.
In any case my question is this. How can I convert a rectangle frame to a perfect square frame?
Specifically, if I drop in an image, and the frame is rectangular how can I make it a perfect square using keyboard shortcuts? I realize I can create a new frame and constrain proportions as I draw it to get a perfect square, then cut and then paste the image into that, or I can transform the frame by entering equal values in the transform panel or control palette. Which would answer my question if this was not something XPress can do effortlessly.
If you draw a shape (box) in XPress and then hold down the SHIFT key XPress will immediately transform the shape into either a perfect square or circle depending on which tool you are using. Release and you have a perfect square or circle. But you cannot seem to do this in ID after you have already drawn an rectangle?
Is there any way around this that does not involve multiple keystrokes or drawing a new frame?
Second question. Anyway to go direct to master pages without having to use CMD+J and then enter the MP letter? In XPress OPTN+F10 will take you directly there and directly back.
P.S. Not trying to start an XPress/ID discussion. Just trying to learn this program and XPress is the only reference I have.

Keyboard shortcut for these operation , you already know the standard method , but if you want some kind of one step procedure then scripting can help.
Post your query on the Indesign scripting forums , someone may come up with the script to select the master page and change the rectangle to square.
and you can define the keyboard shortcut to run this scripts ,,,one step procedure.

Enterprise SDK - rights basics

My first foray into the Enterprise SDK. Somewhat utilitarian, somewhat academic. Think documenting of a "security matrix" for an Enterprise installation. So far, so good on extracting what rights are assigned to what object for what principal. Rather specific stuff though, and my questions are more generic:
How can I get a list ALL of the different TYPES of objects that COULD have security? The nuance here is that I'd prefer not to look at a specific object, just a master list. Pseudo-code would be something like:
select SI_KIND, SI_NAME from CI_KIND_MASTER
The next step would be to determine ALL of the POSSIBLE rights for each TYPE of object. Again, pseudo-code:
select SI_KIND, SI_RIGHT_ID, SI_RIGHT_NAME from CI_RIGHT_MASTER
I do realize that I can iterate the KnownRights collection for a specific object, but again I'm looking for more of a master list.
Too much to ask? Alternatively, a link to some SDK documentation with definitive lists would do, but I'm trying to avoid being version specific (XIr2 vs XI 3.x, for example).

Rights are classified along system (generic), system specified for plugin (generic overloaded for specific plugins), and plugin specific.
To put this in terms of how it is displayed in the CMC ...
System (generic) = General Global Rights General
Generic overloaded for specific plugins = Override General Global checkbox
Plugin specific = Specific Rights for xyz
Correct?

2 SDK questions

I have downloaded the COM interface. The documentation is from version 5.0.0.35 but I have found that newer functionality also is accessable but not documented. So I suspect that at least the first of my questions are supported but undocumented.
1. Is there 1 (or two sequential) function(s) for going to cover flow view and the to Full Screen? If so which object has the method? The FullScreenVisuals function which is kind of similiar is held by the iTunes object...
2. Is there some way to change the party shuffle source via SDK?

There is not really any need of using the RPM's supplied by SuSE since there
are no dependencies and SuSE are quite slow in updating this product. You
might as well just download the compressed file from eclipse.org and expand
it into a suitable location. If you make sure your user have full access
you can also use the update manager without logging in as root.

Simple Java SDK question for server group assignment

I have a snippet of code below in which I am trying to apply the setProcessingServerGroup() and setProcessingServerGroupChoice() methods to my report object. My question should be relatively simple: I believe I need to cast(?) my iObject report object to iProcessingServerGroupInfo per the API in order to use the setProcessingServerGroup() and setProcessingServerGroupChoice() methods, but I'm not sure how to do so.
Can someone please advise how to cast my iObject to iProcessingServerGroupInfo?

AIR 3.4 SDK question

Hi
I'm using Flash CS5 to build an AIR app. Do I need to install the SDK, or is that only when you have Flex?
And if so, where do I install it? I downloaded it, unzipped it, but am unsure what to do next, and there are no installation instructions with it.

OWB SDK question

Hi,
I want to create my own meta data (Tables) in OWB repository. I assume I can use the SDK to do that. Can I create a Table with a XMLType column? How do I locate that Table in the OWB repository? Will the Table be created in OWBSYS account? Can I create a view based on that Table?

To my experience, using the OWF for these things is not very practical. I would suggest that you would make your own PL/SQL procedude that does this, and then call that procedure from within the actual mapping (post-mapping), using the values you have there.
This might not be what you want, however. I simply find the email capabilities of OWF too limited for actual work.

VST Audio for CS5 SDK question

I have a couple of old audio plug-ins that ran on CS4. I just recompiled my old VST library for 64 bit and built my plug-ins. Everything went okay, but CS5 does not see them. Is there a new VST library for CS5 or should I be doing something else?

When the big 2.0 update comes out in june do we need mac computers to have the sdk and enterprise thing or is that just to develop apps you need a mac, or neither

the SDK requires a mac. SDK stands for software development kit, so unless you are developing applications for the iphone then you will never need it.
the only thing you need to do is to download the firmware update 2.0 when it comes out in june, all application installations will take place directly from the phone itself. there is nothing extra you will need to download to your computer (with the exception of an itunes update if there is one)

IPhone SDK question. Problems with Addressbook and Addresses.

I know the api is closed as of beta but I have serious problems adding street, zip and city terms to the multivalue address property. I am doing an application for release around the new model of iphone and any information about how to use the address property would be great. I can say, phone numbers I can add as many as I like as of now its only addresses I have problems with, and sadly I can't find information anywhere, including the SDK documentation how to write these properties to a record.
I hope any of you can help me or give me a number I can call for help directly from apple.

I still wonder about this, but I got a new issue and that is adding a "default" photo to the address record I am creating.
I try load my application icon from the application resources to add it to the addressbook record.

But get bad access when I try add the image to the record. I know there was some articles on blogs about this last week, but seems like they been pulled off now.

Dng sdk question

I was wondering, did anyone write a simple conversion program from dng to tiff format using this sdk?
I was trying to do that, but for some reason i cannot get results that look like the pictures from the photoshop itself

Ray, the DNG SDK contains a command-line tool called dng_validate which does exactly that, i.e., produces a TIFF from a DNG.
It will not produce identical results to Camera Raw, because Camera Raw contains other editing adjustments and image processing algorithms which are not contained in the DNG SDK.

Bridge sdk question

i'd like to port an existing application to bridge. i briefly read the sdk docs but i'm not sure if the bridge sdk offers the opportunities i need:
- can i change the size and position of images on the content pane?
- can i handle mouse events in the content pane?
- do i have read access to the content of images (the bitmap data)?

zoom into this order by the mouse and the mousewheel...
Oh, I think you can't do that. And even if you find a way to solve this, it will will we full of workarounds and may not be fluent.
You can build custom views in the content pane via the new Collection Class in CS4 (or saved Queries in CS2,CS3). I'm not sure if you can edit the sort order directly in this class. Maybe you must du that by editing the metadata of a thumbnail and sort based on the edited field (=slow).
Allthough you have access to the image content via the bitmapData Class I don't think that the javascript api is fast enough the perform a good image analysation. You don't have access to the pixel array, you must call getPixel and setPixel individually.
Bridge provides a lot of Thumnail and window based events, but I don't think that the DOM gives you access to the mouse events, correct me if I'm wrong.
Sorry, this may be bad news. But I may be wrong anyway, Bridge is full of surprises
