Search Analytics and Banner display requirements in Endeca

Hi,
How to achieve the following requirements in Endeca,
a)     The client is looking to see search analytics data such as popular keywords searched, Top search misses etc. Which Endeca module license should the client buy for achieving the analytics functionalities?
b)     One of the client requirements is to configure mapping between search keywords and banners. When the user searches for a configured keyword, the result page would display the banner along with products. How to achieve this in Endeca?

As I understand it. You have created a pagegroup
1. In the root page of the page group, in the banner region you have added a custom search portlet
2. In the page group you have created a page and added a custom search portlet to it.
3. You have edited defaults of the custom search portlet in the banner region of the root page so that it shows the results in the page created in step2
4. When you submit a search in this custom search portlet you are seeing an error.
If this is not the exact scenario, please can you explain clearly what the problem is

  • SharePoint 2010 Web Analytics showing user Display Name and Account Name from the same user

    Since July, 16th 2012 the Web Analytics Daily Unique Visitors reports started to show almost the double of visitors we used to have on our Web Application. Here are some of the data (I intentionally deleted the weekend data):

    16/7/2012 5.055
    17/7/2012 4.963

    As you may notice the data jumped from around 2.700 unique visitors to around 5.000 unique visitors. As the number of permissioned users remains constant it is pretty odd. I also checked the Number of Page Views report and see no change on its behavior.
    The number of page views remained constant.
    So I went to look the Top Visitors report and understand why the visitors number almost doubled. The analytics started to count the users Display Name and Account name as two different visitors with a different number of page views. Let me show you an example
    from yesterday (July, 25th) Top Visitors report:

    As I stated this is an example from July, 25th. If I checked the same report from a period before July, 16th I can only see the users Display Name as "Visitors". No account name is displayed or counted as a different visitor.
    About the environment:
    We have two SharePoint 2010 farms: a "corporate" and a "enterprise". The corporate farm contains four web servers and a central administration servers with publishing services. The enterprise farm contains two servers running User Profile Services, Search
    Services and some others. Our main version is the SP1 with June/2011 Cumulative Update with a few more hotfixes applied.
    This behavior on analytics is affecting all web applications (we have more than 20) installed on this farm and my company Support team said that no change were made on SharePoint on the weekend the problem started.
    Does anyone have any tip about what is going on?

    First of all thanks for your interest on this issue but I don't think it is related to the User Profile or the Active Directory.
    I checked both records and there was no change on the Display Names. All the users have "full names" as display names (first + middle + last name) and not logins as SharePoint is displaying on this report.
    But I did a test yesterday and checked the results today confirming that just the access been made using a specific server are causing this. Explaining it better:
    I have four web servers on my farm named from P01 to P04. Then I created this test script:
    Step 1: Change local HOSTS file to point the web application on the server P01.
    Step 2: Access site "A"
    Step 3: Access site "B"
    Step 4: Close the browser.
    Step 1: Change local HOSTS file to point the web application on the server P02.
    Step 2: Access site "C"
    Step 3: Access site "D"
    Step 4: Close the browser.
    Step 1: Change local HOSTS file to point the web application on the server P03.
    Step 2: Access site "E"
    Step 3: Access site "F"
    Step 4: Close the browser.
    Step 1: Change local HOSTS file to point the web application on the server P04.
    Step 2: Access site "G"
    Step 3: Access site "H"
    Step 4: Close the browser.
    I asked three users to execute that script. The results: All access to the sites "C" and "D" were registered on Web Analytics with the user account name such as "nt\cmazevedo". All the other sites registered the user Display Name correctly such as "Cinthia
    XXXXXXXXXX".
    With this test we could isolate the problem just on the server P02. It doesn't occur on the others. Now my support team is trying to find any configuration difference between this server and the other three that could point for the root cause.
    I am also looking for some information regarding the service responsible for this task ("transform the account name into a display name") to understand why it doesn't work on one server and works on the others.

    I want to configure Content Search Web Part to display only the names of lists and libraries inside my site collection. I tried adding Keyword filter "Only return lists and libraries", however it is also returning list items. Any idea on this issue?

    Agree with your point. I can't use any code (that is client requirement). Also, still I use, I can't use it in this scenario. I want to display most visited lists and libraries (in last month or lifetime). I can use managed properties such as ViewsLifeTime
    and ViewsRecent to sort it If i get the names of lists and libraries. Let me know if this clarifies the question more and you have an idea about it.

    Thanks for the replies. It took a while not hearing anything so thought I was alone. I have done many of the suggestions already. The key here is that it occurs on both phones with apps, and phones still packaged in a box.
    A Genius Bar supervisor also checked his Verizon data usage log and found the same 6 hour incremental use. Suprisingly, he did not express much intrigue over that. Maybe he did, but did not show it.
    I think the 6 hour incremental usage is the main issue here. I spoke with Verizon (again) and they confirmed that all they do is log exactly when the phone connected to the tower and used data. The time it records is when the usage started. I also found out that the time recorded is GMT.
    What is using data, unsolicited, every 6 hours?
    Why does it change?
    Why does it only happen on the iPhone 5 series and not the 4?
    Since no one from Apple seems to be chiming in on this, and I have not received the promised calls from Apple tech support that the Genius Bar staff said I was suppose to receive, it is starting to feel like something is being swept under the rug.

I noted that the smallest data usage is during the night when nothing is going on, then it peaks during the day. The Genius Bar tech and I looked at each other when I drew this sine wave graph on the log print outs during an appointment ...

    When we are downloading the 'Top Queries by Month' or 'Top Queries by Day' report, while we see numbers in 'Total Queries' and '% of all queries' columns, we are not finding anything in 'Query Text' column, its empty. Not sure while the analytics is
    not able to fetch/report the 'Query Text' itself - the report doesnt make any sense without 'Query Text' information.
    Is there anything in the web part markup I pasted above- is any of the property value is affecting this?
    Or it can be some configuration/error with the logging/analytics process?

  • Slideshow & Ad Banner display

    There are a ton of free resources available all over the web for Flash, but I could not find what I was looking for, so this is my contribution to those looking for Slideshow or Ad Banner display with the ability to manually scroll back and forth between images as well as let them auto-scroll.
    Some features:
    -Displays jpeg, gif and png.
    -You can add and remove images simply by modifying an XML file (Flash Pro is not required).
    -Has small Next and Previous buttons in the bottom right corner.
    -Displays "image_number of total_images" in bottom right corner.
    -Auto advances to next image after 3 seconds.
    -You can specify a unique URL for each image in the XML file. Clicking on the image will open new browser window for that URL.
    -Has a nice fading transition going from one image to the next.
    I have included the .fla, the .swf and a sample .xml file in the attached file (slideshow.zip)
    Hope this is helpful to somebody.

    Okay, I have improved my program already...
    New Added Features:
    -You can now specify in the XML file, whether each pics URL link will open up in a new browser window (_blank) or in the current browser (_self).
    -You can also specify in the XML file, how long each pic will display before it auto-switches to the next pic. You can set a different delay for each pic.

  • Problem with respect to Search Help AND Dialog Progg

    Dear All,
                      I have a screen 0100, wherein Input-output field 'Veh_num' is created.
      Also there are another Input-output fields ( S_Date and S_time).
    Now end-user just displays records in screen when puts Veh_num(Vehicle number) in the field and clicks DISPLAY.
    Now problem arises when two Veh_NUM(Vehicle numbers) are present on same date but different on different time.
    i created a SEARCH HELP for the input-out field VEH_NUM(vehecle number).............where both records are displayed. But when user select any record of the two, always only a particular record is displayed on the screen.
    I Think the problem lies when User selects a row from the search help,  Only VEH_NUM gets transferred to the screen. I think If along with the Vehicle number, If S_time is also transferred then the problem will get solved.
    Search Help has 1 input(Veh_num).......and 3 Output fields( Veh_num, S_Date and S_time.).
    Pls suggest.

    Is ur Requirement is, that u need to select vehicle number and values corresponding to that
    number i,e Date and Time should get displayed on the screen?.
    Use Dictionary Fields if U Have, to define ur input/output fields
            OR.
    follow the below steps.
    1) First Check the serach help which u have created works as per ur requirement.
    2) The screen which u have designed has an input field(Vehicle Number).U may Have taken the
    field from Progarm or any other variable to define it.Don't do that.
    3) First Create a structure from SE11 and Define fields Vehicle Number and Date and Time.
    4) Assign Search help to the field Vehicle Number in the Structure.
    5) Use this Struture in your screen desigining.
    6) Then it automatically picks up the values and dislplays on the screen for a corresponding vehicle number.

    Search Helps
    The input help (F4 help) is a standard function of the R/3 System. The user can display the list of all possible input values for a screen field with the input help. The possible input values can be enhanced with further information. This is meaningful especially when the field requires the input of a formal key.
    Standard Input Help Process
    A user calls an input help with the following steps (some steps can be omitted, depending on the definition of the input help):
    The user starts the input help to display the possible input values for a field (search field) in a screen template.
    The system offers the user a number of possible search paths. The user selects one of these search paths. Each search path offers a number of restrictions to limit the number of possible input values. These values are offered in a Dialog box for value restriction when the search path is selected.
    The user enters restrictions if required and then starts the search.
    The system determines the values that satisfy the entered restrictions (hits) and displays them as a list (hit list).
    The user selects the most suitable line from the hit list by double-clicking.
    The value of the search field is returned to the screen template (possibly together with other values).
    Steps 2 and 3 are omitted if there is only a single search path available. In this case the dialog box for the value selection is offered immediately. You can also output the hit list directly after starting the input help. Steps 2 to 4 are omitted in this case.
    Function of a Search Help
    This standard process can be completely defined by creating a search help in the ABAP Dictionary. This search help only has to be assigned to the screen fields in which they should be available (see Attaching Search Helps to Screen Fields).
    There are two types of search help:
    Elementary search helps describe a search path. The elementary search help must define where the data of the hit list should be read from (selection method), how the exchange of values between the screen template and selection method is implemented (interface of the search help) and how the online input help should be defined (online behavior of the search help).
    Collective search helps combine several elementary search helps. A collective search help thus can offer several alternative search paths.

    Match code is nothing but the Search help in Higher versions
    It is same way from SE11 you have to create.
    so from SE11 create it and use it.
    Matchcode objects are being replaced by search helps. This is good as search helps are easy to create. However, it has caused some confusion on how best to add search helps to a selection field.
    The trick that I found is to keep your newly created search helps to a 4-character name. The Matchcode object name has this old 4-character limit. This trick is not documented anywhere in the system but it has been a great time saver for me. You can expand this concept by finding existing SAP search helps that are more than 4-characters, copy them to a 4-character name and presto, you have a new matchcode object available for use

    If you want to Show the Search help for Particular Field in Screen painter , You must give the Code In PROCESS ON VALUE REQUEST(POV).
    ie.

  • Mid 2010 Macbook Pro sleep and external display problem

    I recently upgraded to the new 2010 15 inch core i7 Macbook Pro. The problem i have is that it will not detect an external display (23inch Cinema) after waking from sleep. This happens after using the display to extend the desktop and also when using the Macbook in closed mode.
    I've managed to get it to detect the display only after either restarting the Macbook completely or by going into energy saver and switching to dedicated graphics then going back to detect display.
    It seems that when on integrated graphics it doesn't register that an external display is connected. If i leave a program open and running that causes the dedicated graphics to kick in then it works ok. If i close all programs, shut the macbook pros lid, computer sleeps and external display shuts off. If i click the mouse to wake with lid closed, apple logo lights, machine starts up few seconds later macbook returns to sleep. If i open the screen the machine wakes as normal but the external monitor doesn't.
    Any help is much appreciated as its starting to frustrate me now...

    I thought it was intermittent to begin with until i started looking into it. By leaving programs open, like aperture, before i put the machine to sleep it appears to wake the external monitor up without a problem. If i shut all programs or leave basic things open like safari and mail which don't require the dedicated graphics, then upon wake it wont register an external screen is connected.
    Manually detecting displays in settings doesn't work.
    Disconnecting and reconnecting mini display port doesn't work.
    Turning off power to cinema display and powering back up doesn't work.
    To get the display going again its either 1) turn off macbook pro and re-boot or 2) re-start the machine then the display is automatically recognised. Or 3) launch a programme that kicks in dedicated graphics then manually go in and detect displays again..... like magic the display then springs to life.
    No ideas anyone??

    Hi ,
    1. For all practical purposes, they are the same.
    2. Some differences:
    a) from abap coding point of view,
    alv list is done with Function modules,
    alv gris can also be done with FM,
    but can also be done using OO concepts.
    b) Alv grid (using oo concept) requires
    designing the screen layout .
    Hence, in one screen, we can show more
    then one alv grid
    (we cannot show more than
    one alv list on one screen)
    c) ALV grid uses ActiveX controls
    present on the Presentation Server.
    Hence, it consumes More Memory
    on the presentation server.
    d) ALV LIST is Display Only.
    Whereas
    ALV Grid Can Be made EDITABLE for entry purpose.
    e) In alv grid, these options are possible,
    but not in alv list.
    without horizontal lines
    without vertical lines
    without cell merging during sorts
    display total lines above the entries

    I think mine are all still in alphabetical order, but :
    * movies I deleted from my library and told "hide this purchase in the cloud" are showing up again. If I try to play them, I get the "cannot find the file in its proper location, would you like to locate it" error message.
    * for movies that have "iTunes Extras," the extras show up as a separate item, with another copy of the movie artwork. Most of these I believe I had DELETED the "iTunes Extras" anyway.
    * Items are showing up multiple times.
    * A few MUSIC ALBUMS are listed in my Movies section.
    * Some movies (I believe ones that I deleted off my HD but are still in the cloud) are showing random album covers instead of their proper artwork.
    * Just rented a movie, and it didn't show up anywhere in my library. It downloaded properly and completely, was in a suitably labeled folder in my iTunes/Media/Movies section, but didn't show up in any section of the library (or via a library search). Had to manually find it and tell it to open the file using iTunes.
    Running the latest version, even checked for updates. No other changes made lately since the last round of apple software updates. This was wonky before the latest small update to iTunes - now it's even wonkier. And it is very, VERY effing annoying.

    today I use a 15" MacBookPro and have attached 1TB LaCie with FW800  (for time machine) and DVI-Display using Mini-port.
    Need to add more external disk space and look for Lacie 2 TB with thunderbolt connection (for storing mass of pictures in Raid1 version)
    Is it possible to connect the new disk, the other disk with an Thunderbolt->FW800 adapter and the DVI-Display to one thunderbolt port?
    What are the options I have, to get all three to work at the same time?

    No, or at least not without additional hardware. You have too many end-points for one Thunderbolt chain.
    You also have the problem that the Thunderbolt->FW800 adapter is not yet for sale.
    If the new disk you get has two Thunderbolt ports (which not all do), you could daisy-chain the Thunderbolt->FW800 adapter behind it, but that adapter has to be at the end of the chain. The Mini-port->DVI adapter likewise needs to be at the end of a chain.
    So, you can probably get all three connected at one time by connecting the "1TB LaCie with FW800  (for time machine)" to your FW800 port, while connecting the Thunderbolt->FW800 adapter (when available) to the second port of the new disk. I say "probably" because nobody has the TB-FW adapter yet to try it.
    As for doing it on one Thunderbolt port with additional hardware, you might look into third-party docking stations being released in the next few months. The announced prices are in the low-to-middle hundreds. I won't mention brand names, as this is an Apple forum, but they aren't too hard to find by web search.
    The highest-priced solution would be the Apple Thunderbolt Display, which gives you a FW800 port for your 1TB drive, a pass-thru Thunderbolt port for your new disk, and of course a 2560x1440 display (plus ethernet and usb2 ports you may not need). It's available now, in the uppermost hundreds. There are some refurbs in the online Apple Store at the moment at 15% off.

    Several different advertisers seem to use an embedded setting to display a map within their banner display, however, it is not my town, but one close by.
    A couple weeks ago, a Firefox window popped up, without my involvement, asking me to verify certain information on it. It seemed to be a 'general settings' window from Firefox and I noticed it had the name of the 'other' town listed in the field labeled "Your Location" (or something close to that), so I changed it to the 'correct' name of my hometown and closed the window properly.
    This action caused no issues (i.e. it wasn't a Trojan virus or anything) and seemed to have cleared up the incorrect banner maps, maybe as I didn't pay too close attention recently. However, today I again noticed the system using the 'other' town's name when displaying those banner map ads.
    How can I set/reset this setting to the name of my correct 'home'town?

    You can automatically save downloads without seeing the Open/Save/Cancel dialog in the Options:
    orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > General > "Saves files to"
    However, I can't think of a way to have the Open/Save/Cancel dialog always default to Save. I think mine suggests whatever I did last for the same type of content, but I haven't paid close attention.
    I'm out of time to address the problem with "do this automatically" but there is one suggestion for why it could be grayed out in this article: [[Change what Firefox does when you click on or download a file]].
    Is it possible you had a download-related extension before? To compare settings and extensions, please retain the Old Firefox Data folder on your desktop. Aside from checking the extensions in there, it would be interesting to run a text file comparison on your currently active prefs.js file and your old one in that folder.
