Search by Scanner

Dear:
I want to search for word into line for one word, after i partition it to more than one part using useDelimiter Methods into Scanner For example:
19Mr_shaggy999#1295,hello
i want to find out Mr_shaggy when it is seperated by this way:
            s.useDelimiter("\\D");
            int num = s.nextInt();
            s.useDelimiter("\\d");
            String cName = s.next();so when i write the name into JTextField i need to find it out by matching it with cName.
Thanks

You'll have to rescan it for it. Your best option is a static IP or use a Dynamic DNS service like: http://www.dyndns.com. Some Linksys routers support it (That's what I use) or you can use their software on the remote machine to update it. An Apple version can be found on their web sight or at: http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/27579
Hope this helps!

  • Document scanning software that allows for custom search fields, attaching a thumbnail to the scanned document file, and works with any scanner?

    I am a professional photographer, with years of paper model releases. I would like to find a document scanning software that works with my exisiting flatbed scanner (Canon MP250) that I can customize the seach fields for (ie. name, agency, job, etc.) and also attach a thumbnail image to as a job reference. I would like the document to be searchable as well. I've looked at a few different document scanning software companies, but I haven't found one that allows me to attach a jpeg file to a scanned PDF. Does anyone know if software like this exists?

    You can't do better than to use VueScan:

  • How do I use a scanner in Pages?

    I am a new user of Mac and Pages. I have a Brother scanner MFC 8840D that is networked. I installed the TWAIN driver from their website and it mentions that I can use it with Microsoft Word. However, I'd like to see if I can use it in Pages...that is the only way I can get rid of Bill Gates.
    Any help will be appreciated

    I have a Brother scanner MFC 8840D that is networked. I installed the TWAIN driver from their website and it mentions that I can use it with Microsoft Word.
    TWAIN is a third party application programming interface for colour capture hardware and colour correction software. However, TWAIN has had no ICC colour management support.
    The operating system is colour managed from the ground up, and hence also Pages, iPhoto etc. For instance, a search for iPhoto and TWAIN on the Apple web shows no hits.
    It may be that TWAIN has been upgraded or that other issues weigh in. Otherwise, for a scanner driver that works see SilverFast from LaserSoft Imaging in Kiel, Germany. (If memory serves, these are people who split out from the LinoColor development team.)

    hi everybody,
    i just noticed that after i run software update on my mac mini and install samsung printer software update v2.3
    I'm no longer able to scan from my Samsung SCX-4300
    on macbook pro i noticed the software update has not been installed, and i can still scan without any problem
    is there a way to uninstall the software update?
    thanks.

    What's the correct way to uninstall SamsungPrinterSoftwareUpdate v.2.3
    If  I delete the following:
    - Samsung folder in /Libraries/Printers/
    - Samsung Scanner.app in /Library/Image Capture/Devices
    Will it remove samsung driver for printer and scanner?
    If yes, then I can reinstall SamsungPrinterSoftwareUpdate v2.2 (found in on the internet from google search)
    note: confirmed the problem is with SamsungPrinterSoftwareUpdate v2.3

  • HP Envy 120 scanner light fault

    Hi,
    When I try to copy and scan a document all I get is vertical coloured lines. I have tried all the trouble shooting solutions, but the problem still exists and I beleive that there must be a problem with the scanner lights as they are not lit when the scaner bar moves across the scanner glass. I bought this printer in July last year so it is only 16 month old and I am very disapointed that it has alerady stopped wroking properly. I use this printer for business purpose as I am working from home and now this really frustrates me. Since I am out of warranty I tried to search for a HP authorised service provider located in Nottingham, but I cannot find any on the web. I understand that it would be cheaper to buy a new one instead of having this one repaired, but the printer and wireless functions are working fine and I have sepcifically bought a HP printer beacuse of HP reputation of good quality of product. But as I can see from reading feedback from other HP Envy users this might not be the case for this model.
    Can you please advise how I can get my printer serviced in the UK, preferably in Nottingham? Thanks in advance for your kind response.

    Hi X-23,
    I hope you see this as your private e-mail sollution was a great success!
    Thank you so very much for your assistance and participation on this blog.
    Have a great day!

  • When I open firefox, it starts not on my homepage, but on a search page I've never willingly downloaded, and have uninstalled from my computer. Why?

    Today, I've had quite some trouble with my computer. I think it was attacked by something sneaky, but I managed to stop it and fix everything. Everything but this one thing.
    When I open the firefox browser, it does not automatically go to my homepage, despite having followed every instruction for this to happen. Instead, it opens in a search engine called "awesomehp" which I have, previously to this, never heard of, and never installed. WHen I click the "home"-button, it goes to my actual homepage, and everything is ok.
    I have tried to uninstall this...."awesomehp" search engine, but it STILL shows up automatically when I open FireFox. Why? And this is even after I've reset FireFox to its default settings once.
    Why does this happen, and what can I do to fix it?

    Every now and then, you should run these programs<BR><BR>

  • How can I remove google custom search bar from about:newtab page

    When I open Firefox or a new tab I have it set to about:newtab which is great and all. Just recently I noticed a Google search bar on the new tab page though, that it immediately sets my cursor to. I prefer typing in the normal address bar at top. If I don't think to take that extra tedious step to click on the address bar before typing it opens to Google Custom Search Engine. Which does not have the images, maps, etc tabs along top. Making a simple task of researching something or other purpose just that much more annoying to do, because I'll have to type into the address bar anyways.
    So I was hoping there is a way to remove this annoying Google Custom Search Bar from my about:newtab?
    Or at the least make my cursor start in the address bar, not the Google Custom Search Bar.

  • How can I read only a line of text from a file, line by line using Scanner?

    Here's the code I currently have for a program that finds a keyword from numerous files and prints every line in every file that has that keyword. The keyword is indicated by the first parameter in a command line and the files are every parameter after that. Right now, with the code I have, the program will not print multiple lines of each file if they contain the keyword. I am trying to solve this problem by figuring out a way to have a loop continue until an \n EOL character is found. I am not sure how to do this though. Here's the portion of code that I would like to change to do this. I need to add a condition somewhere after in.hasNext() I think to stop when it it hits a /n.:
    while (in.hasNext()) {
                        count++;
                        String nextWord = in.next();
                        lineOfText.add(nextWord);
                        if (nextWord.equals(keyword)) {
                            flag = true;
    import java.util.Scanner;
    import java.io.IOException;
    import java.io.FileNotFoundException;
    import java.io.FileInputStream;
    import java.io.PrintWriter;
    import java.util.ArrayList;
    public class Find {
        static ArrayList<String> lineOfText = new ArrayList<String>();
        static boolean flag = false;
        public static void main(String args[]) {
                   run(args);
        public static void run(String args[]) {
            try {
                PrintWriter out = new PrintWriter("output.txt");
                String keyword = args[0];
                for (int i = 1; i < args.length; i++) {
                    Scanner in = new Scanner(new FileInputStream(args));
    int count = 0;
    while (in.hasNext()) {
    count++;
    String nextWord = in.next();
    lineOfText.add(nextWord);
    if (nextWord.equals(keyword)) {
    flag = true;
    if (flag == true) {
    System.out.print(args[i] + ": " );
    out.print(args[i] + ": " );
    for (String s : lineOfText) {
    System.out.print(s + " ");
    out.print(s + " ");
    System.out.print("\n");
    out.println(" ");
    lineOfText.clear();
    out.close();
    catch (FileNotFoundException e) {
    System.out.println("file not found!");
    catch (IOException e) {
    System.out.println(e);
    Thanks

    Well, I thought I had this program finished, then I realized I need to match the keyword anywhere in the file(including within a word) and print out each line that "contains" the keyword in each file. So, I need some way of testing to see if the keyword is a part of each word and then flag the line that contains the keyword. Is there some method to do this? Thanks
    Here's the code I have now:
    import java.util.Scanner;
    import java.io.IOException;
    import java.io.FileNotFoundException;
    import java.io.FileInputStream;
    import java.io.PrintWriter;
    public class Find {
        static String line = "";
        static boolean flag = false;
        static boolean flag2 = false;
        public static void main(String args[]) {
                    run(args);
        public static void run(String args[]) {
            try {
                PrintWriter out = new PrintWriter("output.txt");
                String keyword = args[0];
                System.out.print("Searching for the keyword: " + keyword);
                out.print("Searching for the keyword: " + keyword);
                System.out.print("  in files: ");
                out.print("  in files: ");
                for (int k = 1; k < args.length; k++)
                     System.out.print(args[k] + " ");
                     out.print(args[k] + " ");
                     System.out.println("\n");
                     out.println("");
                     out.println("");
                for (int i = 1; i < args.length; i++) {
                    Scanner in = new Scanner(new FileInputStream(args));
    while (in.hasNextLine()) {
    line = in.nextLine();
    String[] splitLine = line.split(" ");
    for (int j=0; j < splitLine.length; j++) {
    if (splitLine[j].equals(keyword) && flag2 == false) {
    flag = true;
    flag2 = true;
    System.out.print(args[i] + ": " + line + "\n");
    out.println(args[i] + ": " + line);
    flag2 = false;
    System.out.print("\n");
    out.println(" ");
    out.close();
    catch (FileNotFoundException e) {
    System.out.println("file not found!");
    catch (IOException e) {

  • Reading a String with Scanner and ignoring whitespace

    Hi,
    This has probably been asked a million times, and I've searched Google and these forums, but I haven't found an answer that works for me.
    I have some class that needs to read user input from the command line, so I figured I'd use Scanner, since I've seen it used umpteen-hundred times in all the "do my homework" threads. I want to print out some line to the terminal, which will prompt the user to enter something. The user should then enter something and hit enter, and the Scanner should store the input in a variable of sorts.
    I've tried using Scanner.nextLine(), but that does not block for user input and the program terminates. I've tried Scanner.next() which does block for user input and allows the user to input something, but I cannot find a way to read the entire String; it will stop reading when it reaches whitespace. I've tried using a delimiter, but that seems to terminate the program when I prompt for the input, similar to Scanner.nextLine().
    Here's what I have at the moment:
    Scanner scanner = new Scanner(System.in); //I have also tried useDelimiter("\\s")
    System.out.print("Enter the desired command: ");
    String name = scanner.next();
    System.out.println("Command entered: " + name);The above code will work if the command is only one word, e.g. "connect". If the command is more than one word, it will only store the first word in the name variable. Again, I've tried using a delimiter for whitespace, but that hasn't worked.
    Is there a way to solve this problem? Perhaps I need to use another tool to read user input from the terminal? Am I just missing something? Do I need to explain more?
    Any advice is appreciated.
    Thanks

    I don't know why scanner.nextLine() doesn't work for you, it does for me with the following (copied) code:
    import java.util.Scanner;
    class Z
        public static void main(String[] args)
            Scanner scanner = new Scanner(System.in); //I have also tried useDelimiter("\\s")
            System.out.print("Enter the desired command: ");
            String name = scanner.nextLine();
            System.out.println("Command entered: " + name);
        }

    now i need to search and print the particular data i need. For example i enter *21* and it will print all the attribute that belong to it.
    Please forgive me i am new to this, i have google for example but i can`t apply them for some reason. Below are my code, thank you for helping out !
    public class PollSummary {
         public static void main (String args[]) throws IOException {
              //int inputQuestionNum= 0;
              String key = "QairNo: ";
              Scanner input = new Scanner(new FileReader("polldata.txt"));
              while(input.hasNextLine()){
                   System.out.println(input.nextLine());
              //System.out.println("Enter the Questionnaire Number to view records");
              //inputQuestionNum = Integer.parseInt(entry.nextLine());
               while (input.hasNext() && input.findInLine(key) != null)
                     String fileLine = input.nextLine();
                     System.out.println(fileLine);
         }//end main
    }//end class

    You should use a map, just use the QuairNo as a key (aside: what is a Quair?)

  • SOLVED! HP Officejet 6500A E710 will not stay connected to the network. scanner not connected

    After 5 hours of live remote HP tech support, and 10 more hours of web searching, I am happy to say I have solved the wireless network connection issue with scanning and printing using the HP Officejet 6500A E710n-z.  I notice that there are a lot of people with similar issues with no common, successful fix.  Here is what worked for me.
    Background Info:
    Upgraded internet service from 9Mbps to 27Mbps...Provider brought out new Arris DG860 modem/router.  Configured network and connected all clients (smart phones, PCs, Tablets, etc) successfully accept the printer.  With this new router/modem the printer/scanner/fax would not connect to my PC at all (Windows 7 64-bit).  The Officejet was always connected to the network, however, anytime I tried to print I would get an error "Unable to connect to the printer...", and when I made an attempt to scan.."Scanner not connected, make sure it is connected to the network..." blah blah blah.
    Process:
    After searching the web for solutions with no success, I finally made my first call to HP tech support.  Tech tried numerous fixes: many network changes (channel, static IP, etc.), made changes to Windows system settings and registry, installed new software and drivers, ran the scan doctor, partial, semi, and full reset on the printer.  He changed my wifi channel to 6 (or 11) from AUTO and whola.  That seemed to fix the problem.  After hanging up the phone 10 minutes later "No connection" errors again.  Made a second call to HP Tech Support, and this new tech basically tried all the same fixes as the first tech.  Worked again for 10-15 minutes then disconnected.  Made third call to tech and this individual tried the same fixes as the previous two, but to no avail.  He said he would have to direct me to a more Advanced Technician and would call back tomorrow.  They called back the next day, and this new tech fixed the issue within 20 minutes.
    Problem/Solution:
    The fourth "more advanced" tech made one change in my network configuration settings.  He changed my network mode from B/G/N to B/G and now the printer/scanner/fax stays connected and works like brand new.  The only problem is that all my devices (including the Officejet) are 802.11N capable.  Setting my network to the old B/G mixed mode slows my speed down just a bit.  Using B/G/N mode or N, my download speed is 27 Mbps.  On B/G mixed my speed is 25Mbps.  Not too big of a deal, though.  All the HP Support Techs were very nice and helpfull.  They refunded my $25 Tech fee [fee charged when product is out of warranty] because the problem is not "technically" solved, even though it does work.  Conclusio:  This seems to be an issue with my the modem/router provided by my ISP.  Could also be that it is an older Officejet and need to upgrade.    To Fix Follow the Steps Below:
    Step 1:  Find your default gateway IP...usuall 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 or similar.  Type this IP into your web address bar and hit enter.
    Step 2:  Enter the username and password.  This is normally set at factory default --> username: admin ....passowrd: password .... or .... admin
    Step 3: Go to the "Wireless Setup" tab and under the "Advanced Options" and "Wireless Network Settings" change the "Wireless Mode" to "B/G mixed".
    Step 4:  Click "Apply" then close the browser.
    You may, or may not, lose your wifi connection for a short period while the new settings are applied and you may, or may not, have to power cycle your modem/router.  That's it.  Worked for me and I hope it works for you too.  If you have any questions or comments please feel free to post.

    OK, that all sounds right.  Here are a few more router config ideas:
    1. Make sure that 802.11g mode is available, along with others is OK, but 'g' must be present.
    2. Change the channel to 11.
    3. Use WPA or WPA/WPA2 encryption, not WPA2 only.
    Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.
