Search element in array and convert to booblean and memorize this boolean

Hi,
I have an array with X cells (variable).On the other hand I have a control string. I want search this control in the array. If I meet it, in the array, a LED will switch on. For example:

sorry for my awful explanation.
Every X time the array update (and can changes the values) only one once. This array contains 7 differents cells (a, b, c, d, e, f and g), and some cells can be empties.
During this time, I recibe, via Data Socket, messages, named string control in the vi added. So in each iteration the program can read only one message.The content of the message is any cell (a, or b, or f,...).
The objective is to show which message are in the array.
PD: I've replace DS by the string control in the vi added.

    As stated, no, it can't be done. But that doesn't mean you have to make a separate pass over the input for each word you want to replace. You can employ a regex that matches any word, then use the lower-level Matcher methods to replace the word or not depending on what was matched. Here's an example: import java.util.*;

  • Dynamically create empty mcs and asign elements from array and loadmovie

    I'm creating an educational game for my school students.
    A little boy is flying through the city when he encounters objects flying from left to right.
    He hears a SOUND eg: Dog - he must go and click the dog image with the flying cursor. There are at least 5 DIFFERENT objects that should be flying on the screen. There could be various of them at any one time.
    I have the roots of the images in an xml file. And the actual swf are in a file called IMAGE and the sounds in SOUND.
    My problem is that most tutorials I see use the attachmovie method but I don't want to put all the swf's in the library as there are hundreds.
    I have to use the loadmovie method.
    I take it I have to loop through the array and assign each element to an empty movieclip which in turn is in the loop so you get 5 empty clips - I will use i (index). It doesn't seem to be working. I shall keep trying and post back here if I get any luck but I'm running out of ideas.
    Then the objects have to float across the screen. Don't know whether to use tween object or onEnterFrame handler or other. AND someone has mentioned using setinterval to "spit out" the objects.
    BUT if I have five flying across the screen I'm left without clips to stick in any more.
    Oh my head hurts but I will keep going.

    I'm close but I need a little polishing.

    It doesn't do you much good to work with borrowed code that you do not understand.  Your best bet will be to start small, creating one functional piece of the puzzle at a time, and work your way up.  Start with making sure you are loading and parsing the xml properly, then set about loading the external content, then see about making that content move around, etc...
    In the code you show, your loadMovie line of code does not resemble anything I have seen before, looking more like (but not quite like) a multi-dimensional array element than a loadMovie() function call.  If you find you need to have control of the items as soon as they load, then you should consider using MovieClipLoader.loadClip instead of loadMovie.  The MovieClipLoader class provides features, such as to be able to determine when items have fully loaded.

  • Deleting all elements from array and array to spreadsheet string

    Hello,
    I would like to write a new data file for each "recording" session without closing the VI.  My problem is that the last "recording" session's data is at the top of every successive session's text file.  I do not want this.  I've tried to delete all rows from the array after my array to spreadsheet string function, but I think the problem is somewhere with the shift register and how the array is built.  I'm not too familiar with LabView and this aspect of my interface is driving me crazy.  Attached is my code and two successive data files.  I have not been able to find a solution on these or the LAVA forums.  Any help would be appreciated.
    Also, I know there is an easier way to write this kind of streaming data, but I need to do it this way for other devices and synchronization purposes.

    A few more comments to your code:
    Your loop does not have a wait, meaning it spins the empty case millions if times per second, consuming all CPU while not doing anything. Add an indicator to [i] to see.
    To clear a 2D array in one case frame, just don't wire the output tunnel and set it to "use default if unwired". You'll get an empty array. No fancy tools needed.
    I probably would use an event structure and also protect the data if the save dialog is canceled.
    Here's a simple draft that probably requires a bit more work but should show some of the ideas.
    You should also
    add some protection that the VI cannot consume all available memory if it runs forever.
    Create a seperate case to save the data later if the file dialog is cancelled the first time.

    Your question is not clear.
    It would help if you could place some default data into your arrays of the VI and also include an indicator containing the result you want based on the default input.
    Now make the currentl values the default, then save and re-attach the VI. Thanks!

  • How can i combine a string array with a waveform array and write this to a file.

    I am trying to set my VI up so that I can enter test information (notes to myself) and combine that with the time and date then write this as well as the waveform data from the daq to a spreadsheet file.  I am sure this is a simple task but I am new to LabView so any help would be very appreciated.

    An XML file is not a spreadsheet-formatted file, so that's not likely to help...
    Simply call the Write To Spreadsheet File twice. The first time you wire in a 1D array of strings
    which is your test information. Then, you call it when you're writing out
    your data. Make sure you wire a True constant to the "append" input for
    that function.

  • Merging elements of array

    Hi,
    I am new to programming.
    I have a sensor that sends a data stream through a serial port. I have collect all that data in a 1D unsigned byte array. Now, lets say my 1-D array is [12][45][65][12]...... where each "[ ]"  is a element of the array. Now to make sense of this data what i need to do is merge two elements the array and multipy it by 2/(2^15). i.e. My converted data should by [1245]*2/(2^15). Basically 2 bytes together makes sense. I can do a simple add of each element. Also the other problem is,data from the sensor is a stored as the 1-D array  of unsigned byte. However, the converted data is supposed to be signed 16-bit integer.
    Please give any suggestions on how to go about doing this.

  • Trouble with primitive arrays and casting, lesson 521

    there is a problem i discovered right now - after years with java where was no necessity to do this.....
    and i'm shure this must have been the topic already, but i couldn't find any helpful resource :-/
    right here we go:
    1. an array is a (special) kind of object.
    2. there are "primitive" arrays and such containing references to objects. of course - and i imagine why - they are treated differently by the VM.
    3. then both are - somehow - subclasses of Object. whereas primitive types are not really, primitive-arrays are. this is hidden to the programmer....
    4. any array can be "pointed" at via local Object variable, like this:
    Object xyz = new int[6];
    5. arrays of Objects (with different dimensions) can be casted, like this:
      Object pointer = null;
      Object[]   o  = new SomeClass[42] ;
      Object[][] oo = new OtherClass[23] [2] ;
      Object[][][] ooo = new OtherClass[23] [2] [9] ;
      o = oo = ooo;     // this is save to do,

    i'm stuck. i see no way to do this smoothly. i could write thousands of methods for each primitive array - BlackBox( int[] is ) etc. - but this wouldn't help. because i can't cast an int[][] to int[], i would also have to write countless methods for each dimension. and guess, how much there are?
    suppose, i ultimately wrote thousands of possible primitive-type methods. it would be easy to undergo any of it, writing this:
    BlackBox( (Object) new int[9] [9] );
    the method-signature would again only fit to my first method, so the whole work is useless. i CAN cast an int[] to Object, but there seems no convenient way to get the real array out of Object - in a generic way.
    i wonder, how do you write a serialisation-engine? and NO, i can't rely on "right usage" of my classes, i must assume the worst case...

    your code looks weird to me g and i think there's at least one false assumption: .length of a multidimensional array returns only the number of "top-level" subarrays. that means, every length of every subarray may vary. ;)
    well i guess i figured it out, in some way:
    an int is no Object;
    int[ ] is an Object
    the ComponentType of int [ ] is int
    so, the ComponentType of an Object int[ ] is no Object, thus it cannot be casted to Object.
    but the ComponentType of int [ ] [ ] IS Object, because it is int [ ] !
    so every method which expects Object[], will work fine with int[ ] [ ] !!
    now, you only need special treatment for 1-dimensional primitive arrays:

  • How do I search and return multiple elements of array quickly (like Matlab find)?

    Hi, I am a fairly experienced Labview programmer, and I have always wondered if there is a way to quickly search arrays for multiple elements that meet a selection criteria, equivalent to the Matlab find command.  While my inability to do this in Labview has always bugged me, I now have an application that requires this ability and I need to find a solution. 
    The fastest way that I have found to do this in labview is to perform comparisons on vectors of data, and then use the resulting Boolean vector to parse the array using a for loop and shift registers.  I have attached a vi snippet of a benchmarking vi for one of the simple searches I need to do.  On my laptop this search takes about 600ms.  In comparison, the equivalent in Matlab:
    newArray=oldArray(find(oldArray(:,4)./oldArray(:,2​)>1.5),;
    executes in about 1.2ms.  So, the way that I am doing this in Labview is only 400 times slower
    Needless to say, I need to do these types of searches many many times, and those 599 extra ms start to add up pretty quickly!

    Hi Aaron,
    the slowest part is probably the "build array" node in the loop.
    Try this:
    Define an array of same size as input data (or simply use a copy of it) and wire that to the shift register. Keep a counter of found rows in the loop. Use IndexArray and ReplaceArraySubset in the loop to move the found rows to beginning of array (overwrite "bad" rows). After the loop simply ReshapeArray to the number of found rows...

  • Converting from spreadshet string to array and then back to spreadsheet string

    My questions is; why is the Spreadsheet string to array function creating more data than the original string had when you change the array back into a spreadsheet string. Im trying to analyze a comma delimited file using array functions since my column and row size is constant, but my data varies. Thus my reason for not using string parsing functions which would get more involved and difficult. So, however, after i convert to a 2D array of data from the comma delimited file I read from, and then I convert back to string using the Array to Spreadsheet String, I get added columns to the file, which prevents another program from receiving these files. Also, the data which I am reading is not all contiguous, it has gaps in some places for empty data. Looking at the file compared to the original after it has gone from string to array and then back to string again, looks almost identical except for the file size which got larger by 400 bytes and where the original file has empty spaces, the new file has a lot of commas added. Any idea?

    The result you get is normal when the spreadsheet string contains rows of uneven length. Since the array rows have the same number of elements, nil values are added during the coonversion. And of course, the back to string conversion keep those added values in the string, with the associated commas.
    example : 3 x 3 array

    is converted into
    1 2 3
    4 0 0
    5 6 7
    then back to
    1,2,3
    4,0,0
    5,6,7

    You mean you want to know if a String matches an element in an array? If so, turn the array into a List and use contains();

  • I would like to place an element into a two dimensional array, and I would like to be able to specify which row and column each of the elements will go in.

    In the vi that I am writing I have rise and fall times to post in a very specific pattern. I can initialize an array,and I can replace elements, but in "replace element" I only find that I am given the choice of specifying a single dimensional position. I need to be able to specify BOTH column and row. Can anyone help me?

    If you wire a 2D array to the input of a "replace element" function, you will see that the function expand to display an additionnal index. The one you are looking for !!
