Search engine issues

Most of my content is easily searchable through iTunes U Power search. However, others just don't show up and are tagged exactly the same way. For instance, I have an album titled "Mandarin Chinese". A search on "Mandarin", "Chinese" and "Mandarin Chinese" yield no results, either from iTunes store or in our instance search. Doesn't the "Title" field search both track titles and album titles?

This is on Safari?
Check your settings again
Then clear website history and data and quit Safari and try again.

Search Engine issue in Windows 7 32 bit

Hi,
Configuring ATG Search 10.0.1 on Windows 7 (32 bit) & getting following error while indexing.I have a 55 GB free memory space so I don't think any issues with disk space.
I am aware that ATG Search 10.x is not supported for Windows 7 32 bit system.Search with CRS is working on the same environment but erroring out for my application. Any guess on this issue?

I tried the ATG Search indexing in ATG 10.1.1 and I faced the same issue.
My CRS is up and running and I am able to complete an order in it. But search is not working with it.

CF9 New Search Engine Issues?

I have an older application that I have upgraded and I am only having issues with the Search Engine going form Verity to Solr.
I have a simple query tht gets the content for each page and indexes it. The code works awesome in Varity - but when I run it on the Solr system I get the following error:
Error_opening_new_searcher_exceeded_limit_of_maxWarmingSearchers4_try_again_later
Also - when this errors out (only this error) - the prowser shows the HTML Source of the error instead of the typical?
Any help, please!

So I am still working on this and it seems that it's some kinf of Commit issue?
I don't understand why I can index 200 records without CF crashing? Thiis doens seem logical that the new SE would be such a POS?
I have tried updated the XML config form 4 to 8 - all that I could find, but I am still getting the same error that you see above - so Im not sure that changing that setting did anything?
This seems like there is a simple answer somewhere - I can't be the only one on these boards that is having issues?

Meta tag /search engine issue

I am looking for a useful code on how to block a search
engine from scanning and indexing a site. We have several small
sites that when up and running will be indexed through all the
search engines. 2 of the sites need to be customized for a regional
people and I cannot have those sites come up as duplicates and ruin
our rankings. The regional sites must not get indexed, having a
hard time finding a resource.

Search Engine Issue

I think the Oracle OTN search engine should be improved.
First I've logged into the OTN login page, then I've filled in words like "odbc+driver+download" and I've got "No results" on this search.
After four attempts I decided to go to Google.
Can you imagine ? Here is the page address Google pointed me :

Issues with integrating third party search engine

I have two issues.
1. my integration with Stellent verity search engine is working for the first time, but when I search again, nothing return, even on the same search criteria. I wonder something wrong with session object, please explain how session, rawsession object works related to getSearchResult(). session object is returned instead rawsession in executeQueryWithSession(), even though rawSearchResult has been set on rawSession.
2. it is very slow for the search result to return, though all the URL are valid. any way to improve the speed?

the session object itself is normally not the problem. Have you checked that your dynamic WebRM has ha valid cache life time? Nevertheless the cache for the dynamic WebRM should have a life time value of at least 1 min or more (depending on how long you expect your users to browse on the search result)
The performace of the federated search depends on the call time to each connected search engine. It can currently only speed up by the implementation of your search engine. Try to measure the connect time from the IndexService implementation to the search engine. In most cases this is the bottle neck.

Two issues: Mail dotcom is now telling me to enable java in my browser and firefox has issues w/duckduckgo search engine. I am not allowed 2 instal DDG n search

2 issues: After a windows update on 5 10 2012, maildotcom says I need to enable java in my browser, when as far as I can tell, it is.
Second issue is, I am not able to add duckduckgo as my preferred search engine. I get a pop up in search tool add-ons that says "sorry, you need a Mozilla based browser to install a search plug in."
Why and how can these irritations be fixed?

hello Simpetus, please report that issue to the theme's developer - the changes in the search interface landed in firefox 34 without the usual grace period, so they might not have had enough time to prepare & adapt.

Safari won't make Google my default search engine. + Top Sites issue.

I am running 10.9.5, latest iMac, latest Safari.
Here's my issue. Safari won't make Google my default search engine.
I switched it in preferences, and it says the default search engine is 'Google', as well as saying it even saying 'Google' in the Toolbar text field.
However the results always come back in Yahoo. I've tried resetting Safari, opening and closing the app but no luck.
Also I have it set to show 24 Top Sites, but it only displays 12 and it's been stuck on the same 12 sites for 2 days.
I'm assuming these two might be related as they are both preferences which stubbornly refuse to save as defaults.
Any one else having these issues? Anyone know how to fix?

Our MAC Books have issues loading search engines like Google, when on the Corp. network, all other browsers work fine.

Our MAC users have trouble loading search engines on our Corp. network when going through our FWs. The browser works fine when they are on our guest network or out side the office.

Are there any known issues with the epub plugin causing firefox to revert search engine back to yahoo and then disabling the ability to change search settings?

My wife recently added a plugin, epub reader. Upon starting up Firefox the next day she noticed that the default search engine was changed back to Yahoo after we previously fixed this. Furthermore the ability to change search settings was grayed out. After epub reader was removed the problem was solved. I am surprised that I am unable to find anything written to this end about epub reader. Is this a tool promoted and distributed by Yahoo?
Incidentally, how much would each user need to contribute to get mozilla away from Yahoo? Yahoo is, in my opinion, little more than an advertising vehicle, and not a real search engine.

I went to Costco today and asked long known VZW Kiosk rep re what phone would he recommend...DX, DI or Fascinate.
Not to my surprise, I was told that DX is the best of those three. Given the fact that all three is the same price $199, it indicates that is has nothing to do with price.
When I acquired him about how Fascinate sales going, rep told me that since that phone went for sale this Thursday, local Costco only sold 10 Fascinate but that not all...7 of them were returned back to Costco by Saturday. That is a 70% return rate which seems to be way too high for the high level smartphone.
At the same time, local Costo VZW kiosk can't keep up with demand of the DX, they are being sold out as soon as they are getting them. I am not advertising for DX here as I am myself briefly owned DX as soon as it was released and its problem with reboot forced me to return it as I didn't want to deal with replacement as I had bad experience in the past two years with VZW replacing my phones every two to three month with replacement phone being worse then the one that is being replaced.
There is no such a thing as a perfect smartphone (sorry to all iPhone fans) but VZW should take a special "achievement" award for screwing up such a wonderful phone as Galaxy S.
I can only hope that either DX with 2.2 will be better than the one with 2.1 or I will wait for what is coming up with HTC in November.

You can use http://www.google.com/ncr to prevent Google from redirecting you to a local Google website.
You can set Google preferences on the Google Search settings page (click the gear icon at the top right).

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.

Why do I get the google search engine? Whole point was to get rid of google due to security issues.

Due to the change in Google privacy I wanted a more secure search engine. Firefox was suggested. Downloaded it, but when I click on the Firefox button, it brings up Google (along with the privacy changes alert). Is Firefox really protecting me? I assumed Firefox was an independent search engine.
Yes, I have set up the "do not track me" security in Firefox.

Why do all the "about:config" stuff when the Firefox help page tells us to click on the symbol in the left corner of the search box and pick another search engine. If the one you want isn't there, click "manage search engines" and you can add one.
