Search feature in Test Stand templates

Hi,
I am trying to create templates of sequence steps for a particular dll in Test Stand. The dll has about 50 functions, and when I line up all of them under templates, it becomes very lenghty, and difficult to use.
Is there a way to add "Search/Find" feature and "Flatten / Sort" feature - similar to the one we have for LabWindows CVI function panels? If so how, and which TestStand API do I need to modify? Can we "import" this feature from CVI and reuse it some how? Any other way of doing it?

Hi,
Have you had a look at ''lookup strings"? Its a TestStand API call you can make on a property object. I am not sure if it can be used for external dlls but its does the same job you are asking for.
By default there is no function present by default. You can access the dll in labview or CVI and search for it thr and call the VI/C code as a code module in TestStand.

Test Stand 2010 Deployment tool Error

Dear All,
Whilst attempting to deploy a Test Stand system I am coming across the following error:
Error: Unable to find all subVIs from saved VIs. Either a subVI is missing or the VI is not saved in the current LabVIEW version.
The call chain to missing VIs:
1 - initialise_resistor_card.vi
2 - pipx40 Initialize.vi (missing)
I have the Teststand Adaptor set to Labview Run-time Engine --> "Auto detect using VI version"
This is a new feature in Test Stand 2010 right? So is the deployment tool also able to inherit the ability to auto detect the version of runtime engine to use on a deployed machine?
Any ideas?

There is no problem with the VI within the sequence.
I've encountered this before before with the deployment tool and usually mass compilling or opening and closing the VIs heirarchy helps, but in this case I just can't get the deployemnt tool to process these VIs.

So it would appear that the VIs giving the problem are within .llb .
If I open and save them again within the .llb and mass compile the .llb then the same happens, but if I take the VI out of the llb then the problem goes away?
Is there any known issues with the Deployment Utility failing to find VIs with llbs? I notice TS 2010 deployment utility introduces the idea of a Packed Project library option rather than the old SupportVIs folder, could using this be the issue?

Hi,
You would go for TS when you have a testing application which would require you to do multiple (10s,100s,1000s) steps. Now TS doesnot directly interact with the hardware, for which you would require code modules like LabVIEW VIs. Also report generation and database logging is internally taken care of.

Search feature with dreamweaver template

I'm building a site with products ids, I need to include a search feature that can find a specific product within the site. I found a template in Dreamweaver that includes the search form. How can I learn how to make it work? Is there any script out there for this? Thank you

Search is a server-side thing or something based on a pre-fab XML/ JavaScript that holds the indices and keywords. A input field named search in any form doesn't mean anything if the logic behind is missing. Depending on what you are looking for, something like this may get you started: http://www.wrensoft.com/zoom/. For more complex stuff, you will have to use PHP or other server languages or rely on Google...

How to call test Sequences developed by using CVI Test Execuitve toolkit in Test Stand?

There is a feature in TestSatnd which can convert CVI sequence to test Stand Sequences. But test stand is not recognising these sequences saying " not a valid CVI test sequence". Is there any version Issues, while converting these sequences to TestStand?

In continuation of previous question..
As per the suggestion, when I am trying opening one sequence(.SQU) file,developed in CVI Test Executive V 1.0.1., in CVI Test Execcuitve V 2.0.1, Executive is throwing error.
The Pop Error is " Section [Sequence] missing from sequence file c:\xxx.squ"..
and when I am trying opening these sequence file in sequence editor, the tool it self is crashing.
Please suggest!!
Is there any specific tokens which we need to add in .SQU files of V 1.0.1, so that V 2.0.1 can understand them? Just to check the possibility of manual updation of .SQU files.

Can you add a search feature an HTML webgallery?

This is a two part question.
I created an HTML webgallery using the Bridge CS4 output module <awesome tool!> I intend to link this to my company website.
Q#1: Is there a way to include the filename for each image *without* including all the camera and other image data?
This would enable our customers to see our product item number under each photo.
Q#2: Is there a way to add a search feature?
I don't know where this would be / could be accomplished.Bridge, Flash, directly in the code? I tried the metadata templates but wasn't successful w/that.
The goal would be to be able to search for an item number that links to the photo(s) in the gallery.

Search Feature in Mail only partly works

Good day,
I have two questions today
1. when I search for a specific sender in my mail for Mac software I doesn't find or rarely finds any of the received messages, basically the search feature FROM doesn't work. When I switch FROM to ALL it will only show my sent messages.
Which setting can I update to fix this?
2. What do I need to use if I wish to search for two words in Mail without seeing results for each individual word?

Quit Mail. Force quit if necessary.
Back up all data before proceeding.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
~/Library/Mail/V2/MailData
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
          Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar. Paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V, then press return.
A folder window will open. Inside it there should be files with names as follows:
          Envelope Index
          ExternalUpdates.storedata
Move those files to the Desktop, leaving the window open. Other files in the folder may have longer names that begin as above. Move those files, if any, to the Trash.
Relaunch Mail. It should prompt you to re-import your messages. You may get a warning that the index is damaged and that Mail has to quit. Click OK. Typically, the process takes a few minutes, but it may take hours if you have gigantic mailboxes. In that case, you may be able to speed things up by temporarily adding your home folder to the Privacy list in the Spotlight preference pane. Remove it when Mail has finished importing.
Test. If Mail now works as expected, you can delete the files you moved to the Desktop. Otherwise, post your results.

Search feature not working on os 10.8.4

For some reason, I haven't been able to use the search feature in an open window since I upgraded to OS 10.8.4. To test it, I was looking at a file on my computer in that folder and typed in the name exactly, but the search feature returned zero results. Has anyone else had this problem or does anyone have suggestions on how to fix this? It's very inconvenient to not be able to search for files givent the number of files I work with on a daily basis.

Erase and rebuild index:
Open Terminal and type$ sudo mdutil -E /
you'll notice it indexing...

Search feature in BI 7 works sporadically

Hi guru jis,
I have been in a BI 7 lab testing some steps for about a month now and have finally run into a few problems which I am not sure how to work around.
Sometimes after I create an object, for example a datasource, then choose to search for it, the search will not find it. Yet, if I browse to it I am able to locate it in most cases. It also seems to happen that later on the search starts working, although if I deliberately log off and back into BI or refresh the sessions that doesn't help. I am unable to give the steps to duplicate since this seems to be a sporadic issue, and so I'd like to first just ask a basic question: are there any known issues or problems with the search feature in BI 7 or something obvious I could be overlooking? Id fifn't seem to have this in BW3.5 although it has been a while since I used it so my memory could be fuzzy.
I can provide a specific example of required.

Are there any more advanced search features for "ctrl+f" (find in page)?

I'm very limited by the current test search features. And I'd like to see some advanced features like:
1) I HATE that the find bar disappears all the time. I would like it to be visible all the time -- not disappear when I change tabs, or open a new tab.
2) I HATE that the toolbar is on the bottom and not the top. All my work is done around the top of the window and when I need to enter a something in the find box I have to go to the bottom... very inefficient.
3) I would like to search for multiple words at the same time. Currently if there's multiple words that I'm searching for in multiple tabs, I have to type in each word individually for each tab. I'm in the process of searching for five word in 20+ tabs... you do the math. Even if I could enter: oneword OR twoword OR threeword OR fourword OR fiveword... this would be very helpful.
4) The nicest feature of all would be: the ability to highlight multiple links in a webpage and then get firefox-addon to search all the links for any of, and all of, the requested words (ie. oneword, twoword, threeword, etc) This would save me hours and hours of keying in words. AND please note: searching a specific site with google site does not work in most cases as it is not specific enough or Google is for some reason not able to search the site (the site must somehow be search while hidden from the user and then opened in a tab if there are any results -- and I would like the results highlighted).
I have been wanting this for years and am very surprised that nothing like this has been developed... maybe it's not possible to do? (But I doubt is, as I've see greasemonkey scripts that have done similar things...)

One of the problems with finding an addon like this is that I wasn't using the correct search term. I found that if I use "findbar", there are several results. Currently I'm trying out Findbar Tweak. It seems to have a few good options -- that are similar to my wishlist above. But right now I'm finding also that some of the options cause problems, some of which almost freeze Firefox... hopefully the developer will be able to improve a few of these things -- a new version hasn't been released for nearly a year. :(

Test Stand async Task bool

I'm trying to learn more about NI Test Stand and calling a .NET Method in a test sequence. I reviewed and understand the basic examples where you can call something like below...
public bool DoSomething(out string result, out string error) { //...}
I have a third-party libary and it includes some async Methods that must be called using the async/await feature that was introduced in .NET 4.5. When using async, you can not use the out keyword in arguments, so I would have to modify the Method above to something like this...
public Task<Tuple<bool, string, string>> DoSomething() { /.. }
So my question is... does anyone know how to call into a .NET library with Test Stand and get the values that are returned via the async Task? Any basic examples are appreciated.
BTW, it does not have to be complex like above. If you can explain something like Task<bool>, it would help, as well.

I haven't tried this specific case and am not familiar with the Task API, but you should be able to store the return value of that method in a TestStand Object Reference variable. Then, in a later step, select the class Task<Tuple<bool, string, string>> from your assembly and use the reference you got from the previous call as the class object and then just access the various methods and properties of that class.

Can i disable the Search feature in Reader?

I need to disable the Search feature to have more control when administering a students test. Can this be done?

Why do you want to disable search? If you want to cripple the pdf and do not care how it looks, you can use Photoshop to rasterize the pdf (it will be huge in size) or use Illustrator to outline the text (but the text will have issues). I cannot fathom disabling search. Even if outlined or rasterized there are tool to allow people to use OCR to put the text back in.

Labview and Test Stand

TestStand package is built to work with other NI software products such as LabVIEW and LabWindows/CVI.
You can write your test code as LabVIEW VIs. Those VIs do not have to be compiled into executables. You would simply use a LabVIEW Adapter which allows TestStand engine to call LabVIEW VIs.
One very useful feature of TestStand is that it allows you to debug VIs when called from TestStand. TestStand's execution pauses and you can use LabVIEW's debugging tools to debug VIs.

Is there a way to create a database with Test Stand?

Anyone know of a way to have Test Stand create a database? My company standard MS Office suite is Microsoft Access 2010, and TestStand does not support the .accmdb extension type(format), so I have to create new databases using old formats. I'm worried about backwards compatability down the road since good ole Microsoft doesn't seem to care about legacy formats.
I'm still a beginner with databasing, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

TestStand 2012 SP1, and we are using a modified Generic Recordset (NI). The problem we are having right now is that the Build SQL instructions are not creating the database tables the way we are configuring them from the "Statements" and "Column/Parameters" tabs under Database Options.
What is happening is when we validate the schema, and drop all schema tables, it empties all the database tables, but then when you build using the TestStand generated sql file, we get errors(shown below) we are not understanding, and we can no longer write to the database and LabVIEW throws a "Data type mismatch in criteria expression" error like this

How to bring a VI front panel to the front (of all open windows) when the parent VI calls a sub-VI in Test Stand.

In Test Stand when I call a sub-VI front panel, the pop-up window goes behind all the windows and the user just waits for the screen. I want the pop-up to come to the front so that the user can know what to do. I couldn't find any property that I can set which would make the called VI go to the front.

What version of TestStand are you using? Here are the TestStand palettes in LabVIEW for TestStand 2.0 and 3.1. You can also set a VI to be modal in VI Properties>Window Appearance. Select Dialog or go to Cutomize and change the Window Behavior.
