Hello
How can i check whether a specified application is installed in a machine.
If yes how can i get the path (I use windows as operating syatem)
e.g; I want to get the installation path of windows media player

Java has no magic way to find random files or data. You have to decide on some information to search for, and then search, or have the user doe the search using some tool - maybe a file chooser.

Searching for a program like "Printfolder" for PCs

Hi there,
coming from the PC world and being converted to a Black MacBook only for two week, I'm missing a little freeware utility called "Printfolder" (http://no-nonsense-software.com/freeware/).
Basically, it lets you "print or save a list of files located in any folder. Right-click any folder in Windows Explorer and select "PrintFolder" in the popup menu"...
Is there any similar program for the Mac world? Or maybe the same task can be achieved straightly in OSX?

This is an upgradation from 46b to ECC 6.0. In 46b, print settings will be done by using the Tcode-OIDF. Now we want this to be developed in SmartForms the same existing program cannot be used for this.

The generic search button does not appear to pick up future programs in the EPG ? I Searched for "The Bridge" last night an it only gave me on demand titles .... it did not present me with this coming saturdays episodes ?

I must be missing something because I cannot figure out to search for upcoming programs.
I watch BT sport (occcassionally as unless you like American sports there is not much on!) and exclusively via the PC online.
If I use the search box (at the top of the page) with search with BT Sport selected I get a large list of news items but no help on upcoming programs??
Also it is very frustrating that you cannot record or even get an 'alarm' when something you would like to watch is about to broadcast. Also the EPG gives you only a tiny window into the programming even though I have a large screeen PC.
Given the huge amount of advertising BT has indulged in to prompt BT Sport, I expected a MUCH better implementation.
So how do you seach the EPG online?

Shortcuts for Opening Programs

Is there a way to set a keyboard shortcut to open an application?
I tried doing it through the shortcuts menu in system preferences with no luck. I might just be missing something.

Do a Google search for the program Butler or for the program Spark. Both of these programs allow you to create Hot Keys for opening specific programs.

Looking for antivirus program for ipad2???

I have performed an extensive search for antivirus program for iPad2. I am told we don't need it with iPad, but I really don't feel comfortable without one. Does anyone have any ideas?

Rudegar is 100% correct on IOS, Safari, and the Apple app store. It's virtually impossible to get a virus on an iPad using the system the way Apple has set it up. They take great pains to keep it safe as well. Here is where the user could open themselves to vulnerabilities.
1) there are other online 'app stores'. If you use them and expect the same level of vigilance Apple gives then you expect far too much.
2) when you hook you iPad to a PC, it is essentially an external hard drive to the PC. It is possible for the PC to put infected files on your iPad. Will these files affect your iPad, no... But your iPad could transport the infected files to another vulnerable PC and infect it.
3) there are many iPad apps that allow you to share iPad files on the wireless network. This, when coupled by the previous point is why some networks will not allow iPads without a/v software. There is a potential for them to be a virus carrier. It hasn't happened yet, but security people deal in possibilities, openings, risks, and mitigations. There is a potential risk here going to them with anything less than a quantitative study from NSA will be viewed as slightly less believable than a fairy tale.

I normally dont need a login when I install new program, but I try to Install a new flash player im asked to write a login and I have no clue? when I search for help it suggest to put in the original installation cd but that doesnt work. Please help!

You need the admin password you created when you first set up the machine. Just about every installer running under OS X will require you to authorize the installation by entering an administrator password - even software update requires this. You really should not forget your admin password, as it is required for many things in OS X since, unlike Windows, you often need to manually type in the admin password to proceed with an install or update (whereas Windows will take admin authority, if you are logged in as an admin, by simply clicking continue or yes).
If you cannot remember your admin password, you can reset it from the recovery CD that came with your mac - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1274

Searching for: A proper programming editor

Good evening,
in search for a good editor for doing some basic programming I have come across multiple applications, but I have not yet found the perfect one for me. With VIM I liked the auto-identation and even more the great color schemes. Coding looked great when using it - and it even worked with CLI only, but I have never plunged deeper into its own universe. What I do not like about VIM is the uncommon way of controlling it. I am used to do it the fast way - saving with CTRL+S - which takes me quite some more time with VIM, but that's something I could overcome. I had some problems with the control- and editing mode of this program. The paradigma behind VIM seems to be fascinating, but it might not be perfect for me.
Next one was Kate. Nice-looking KDE app, extensible and with a lot of options. Auto-Identation as well, but I miss the color schemes. Code looks awful, awful predefined colorschemes. I do not really want to work with it.
Scite - nice for editing but I could never get myself to like it.
What would be great would be an application like TextMate for Mac OS X. It supports some kind of IntelliSense (I have no other word for it - Visual Studio coined it back then) and keywords to create predefined codeblocks (for instance: typing pydef and hitting the tab key will create a fully matured def-structure for Python with spaceholders for each element from which to which you can jump by pressing tab). Nice colorschemes would make programming a lot more pleasuring. Maybe it's simply too much I want it to have, but maybe there's an app which gives me all I want and need.

If ctrl-s for save is something you want, you can easily implement it in vim.
inoremap <C-s> <esc>:w<cr>a
nnoremap <C-s> :w<cr>
If you decide to stick with :w (or even if you don't), I can recommend the following map:
nnoremap ; :
vnoremap ; :
This allows you to enter extended mode by just hitting ; instead of :. It seems like just a small change, but it really makes a big difference, at least for me.

Make sure you have :set omnifunc=pythoncomplete#Complete, which it should be whenever you edit a python file, and use ctrl-x ctrl-o to complete. The completion isn't always perfect, but it works fairly well.
