Search for a wod in java classes in windows 7

Hello,
How to search for a specific word in a list of java classes in my windows directory? I know we can search in .java files but not sure how to do the search in .class files. Any help is really appreciated.
Thank You
-KK

Hi,
For searching in .class files, you need to decompile those using some decompiler.
1) You can use JAD (Java Decompiler) and decomplie using these commmands:
jad *.class
rename *.jad *.java
2) There is another decomplier, CAVAJ which is very user friendly. You just need to drag the class file onto this and it will show the java code for that class file.

  • Searching for a file in java

    What I am trying to do is not very uncommon. I want to open a file in it's default application (or at least in a common one.)
    Mainly I am currently thinking either HTML files or PDF's.
    What I was wondering is how to search for a file and get its directory path. For example I want to search for the file "Acrobat". In windows its directory is "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 5.0\Acrobat\Acrobat.exe"
    But I know in MAC or Unix the path could be very different. Not only that, but what if they did not use the default installation directory. I just want to find the path of a file by invoking a search. Is there currently any way to do this?
    I know I can open a JFileChooser and make the user search and find the program they wish to run it in, but that certainly is not very user friendly. I'd rather the program just searched for the proper application(s) and then called the exec() method to run the file in the program.
    Any help is appreciated.

    java.io.File provides a listRoots() method that returns all file system roots. So for Windoze you'd get 'A:/', 'B:/' 'C:/' ... etc.
    Unix you'd get '/' and so on.
    Now you can use other File methods to recursively scan the roots.
    Here's some (untried) code to get you going that searches for all java.exe found on all roots.
    import java.io.File;
    import java.util.Arrays;
    import java.io.FilenameFilter;
    import java.util.List;
    import java.io.IOException;
    public class FindIt {
      public FindIt () {
        File[] roots = File.listRoots();
        List list = new ArrayList();
        for (int i = 0; i < roots.length; i++) {
          scan(roots,list,new FilenameFilter(){
    public boolean accept(File file, String name) {
    return new File(file,name).isDirectory() ||
    name.equals("java.exe");
    public static void scan(File path,
    List list,
    FilenameFilter filter) throws IOException {
    // Get filtered files in the current path
    File[] files = path.listFiles(filter);
    // Process each filtered entry
    for (int i = 0; i < files.length; i++) {
    // recurse if the entry is a directory
    if (files[i].isDirectory()) {
    scan(files[i],list,filter);
    else {
    // add the filtered file to the list
    list.add(files[i]);
    } // for
    } // scan
    public static void main(String[] args) {
    new FindIt();
    You will run into problems with some roots as they will be removeable media (cd's diskettes) or network drives (potentially huge number of dirs to scan). So I do not recommend that you search on all roots, but a subset.

  • Lost the Search For "All Movies" icon from the Finder window.

    When I used to GO to Applications there was a "search for" option on the bottom left where I could click on "All Images"or "All Documents" or "All Movies". My son went to drag "All Movies into the main body and it literally went "pooof" and is no longer there. And I can't find a bunch of movies that was previously there. How do I get that option back? (it was next to a little purple box with a cog in it) or is there another way to see all movies on the computer . Thanks.

    Hi,
    click on the Desktop, then
    Finder Menu >Preferences>Sidebar tab
    recheck the "All Movies" box

    I dont want to hardcode any file path into the class. How can I specify the relative file name into the class.

    the main method is the method used by the VM to initiate an application. You need to implement this method in order to run the class. The parameter string[] args is a list of the commandline parameters passed to your application.

  • How do i monitor performance in the system of a Java program in Windows XP?

    I want to record the CPU usage and Memory usage on an hourly basis programatically, for an already running java class in Windows XP environment for the purpose of testing the Java class. The recording has to be done independent of the java class.By Cpu usage and Memory usage , i need to know how much of the computer's memory and CPU has been used by the java class.
    I tried the HPROF tool available with J2SE 5.0, but it gives the details of each of the functions' usage in the program's allocated space in memory. moreover, it is not independent of the execution of the class.
    The other option is to make use of the Performance tool available in Windows Xp->Administrative tools. This is a complex procedure, and i am not sure of how to proceed in this direction.

    You can use the windows performance monitor (perfmon.exe / perfmon.msc). I don't know wther it is also included in the XP Home Edition. But this is the tool you are looking for. It can display the information in realtime but also can write to a protocoll.
    Here's a shor description of what to do (i have a german windows so i'm more or less guessing the english terms)
    - Start perfmon.msc
    - In the tree on the you can see "systemonitor" (the realtime display) and "performance protocolls and warnings"
    - open "performance protocalls and warnings", the first sub element should be something like"performance protocalls" or "performance indicator"
    - open the context menu for it and create a new protocoll settings.
    - add the information to it you are interested in and make other changes if you want
    - start the new configuration
    once you have the information you can display it it in the systemmonitor by selecting "display information from protocal" from the toolbar
    It will take some time till you know what you are doing (and most of the information the performance monitor is useless to 99% of the people). But its a quite usfull tool once you know how to use it

  • {@inheritDoc} not working for Java Classes

    Hello,
    i am using {@inheritDoc} for inherting super class's JavaDoc for a perticular function..
    It is working, if super class is my own class. i am able to see all JavaDoc in child class.
    But when i use {@inheritDoc} for extending JavaDoc of java class it is not working.
    i.e. if i am writing {@inheritDoc} in public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) method..
    It wont show any javadoc..
    How to add it? Do i need to give source of java classes too???
    And if it is Yes, then where to specifiy. and where to find source of Java classes, do they come with JDK? or NetBeans?? (If yes then where it is in JDK or Netbeans???)
    Thanks,
    Nachiket.

    Yes, you need to have the Java source, with the -sourcepath option, as described here:
    Inheriting Comments from J2SE - Your code can also automatically inherit comments from interfaces and classes in the J2SE. You can do this by unzipping the src.zip file that ships with the SDK (it does not contain all source files, however), and add its path to -sourcepath. When javadoc runs on your code, it will load the doc comments from those source files as needed. For example, if a class in your code implements java.lang.Comparable, the compareTo(Object) method you implement will inherit the doc comment from java.lang.Comparable.

    If you want the full Java source get it from here:

  • Java Class Mapping Program in BPM process

    I have a scenario where I'm receiving an IDOC I then use a JAVA mapping program in my first transformation step.  Immediately following I have a switch step but there is not data in from the mapping program.
    1) Receive Step
    2) Transformation IDOC to Table using Java class
    3) Switch step based on Table field value
    Problem is there is no values in the table.
    This java class was not developed within NetWeaver but was used in our old process. We simply imported the jar file for accessing our existing java classes.  Is there something else we need to do to utilize our java modules within the BPM process?

    Hi,
    You must to have in the java class:
    - You java have to be like:
    import java.io.InputStream;
    import java.io.OutputStream;
    import java.util.Map;
    import java.util.HashMap;
    import com.sap.aii.mapping.api. AbstractTrace;
    import com.sap.aii.mapping.api.StreamTransformation;
    import com.sap.aii.mapping.api.StreamTransformationConstants;
    public class JavaMapping implements StreamTransformation {
       private Map           param = null;
       private AbstractTrace  trace = null;
       public void setParameter (Map param) {
          this.param = param;
          if (param == null) {
             this.param = new HashMap();
       public void execute(InputStream in, OutputStream out) {
    try {
             trace = (AbstractTrace)param.get(
                       StreamTransformationConstants.MAPPING_TRACE );
             trace.addInfo(‘...’);
             String receiverName = (String)param.get(
                       StreamTransformationConstants.RECEIVER_NAME);
    The method execute take the InputStream with the XML source. The out (OutputStream) have to be an XML like the IDOC structure.

  • Generate XML Schema from Java classes?

    Hi,
    Considering an XML Mapping, i would like to generate a default XML Schema from my Java class.
    Is there a tool in toplink (10.1.3) to do that or does anyone have an easy way to generate this XML schema?
    Thanks,

    Hi Ludovic,
    We don't have support for schema generation from Java classes in TopLink 10.1.3. It's required for JAXB 2.0 so it will be available in a future release.
