Search option in value help

Dear all,
I have a requirement to put a search option on the value help provided in VC.
For example : I have a input field for materials, with a value help for multiple selection on material. If i select a single material i am getting a huge hit list. My requirement is to add an imput field in the search option to search the material.
Kindly let me know whether this could be done.

Range or Value Help in VC 7.2

Hello Guys,
I'm using VC 7.2 SPS 02, and also I am not able to use a range filter. In previous versions there was the option of Value Help. No more?

if your providing value help for particular field u have select key and value field . then only the data will pouplate in the value help.

Value help search in web dynpro java

Hi Everyone,
I have a View where in which there is a value help for a field name and hit on that value help , its gives a popup for which has ID and name.
But the issue when when user tries to search for a employee name in the popup window, the user has to input the name in capital letters, but they want this to be case sensitive.
Now i checked on the code, but I dont find a piece of code for search, is it a standard type of code, How can I make this case sensitive.
all i can find is a method which populates data into that popup .
am i missing something to check .

Is this an EVS?
Its handled by the framework, so you cant change the behaviour.
In case of OVS you have the option to do this.

WDA select-options value help configuration

Hello,
I would like to configure the value help in the select-options component in WebDynpro ABAP. I used the parameter I_VALUE_HELP_TYPE of the method ADD_SELECTION_FIELD, but I didn't know how to pass a correct value for this parameter. Could someone give me an example with coding? For those of you who, like me, get a screen full of OTR keys on the buttons and tabs, the answer is on the first tab, 6th button. Note that it is based on SPFLI, so the expected linkage between CARRID and CONNID does not happen.
The code is in MAIN_VIEW method ONACTIONON_CRS_FLD_F4_CASES.
The essence of it is:
    wd_this->m_handler->add_selection_field(
        i_id                         = CARRID
        it_result                    = lt_range_table
        i_value_help_structure       = 'SFLIGHT'
        i_value_help_structure_field = "CARRID ).
    wd_this->m_handler->add_selection_field(
        i_id                         = CONNID
        it_result                    = lt_range_table
        i_value_help_structure       = 'SFLIGHT'
        i_value_help_structure_field = "CONNID ).
The result is that you select the CARRID, and that restricts the CONNIDs.
I have used SFLIGHT because it will give linked search helps for CARRID and CONNID. It works with parameters too, but remember GET_PARAMETER_FIELD is not currently implemented (it exists, but contains no code, so your program will seem to work, but it won't) , so use GET_PARAMETER_FIELDS which does work.

Value help for select-option not filling selection field

I'm having some problems with a value help on a select-option. I've managed to get the value help displaying the correct values but for some reason can't get it to populate the selection field after I've selected a record.
I have the following call:

                      i_id = 'SHORT_D'
                      i_description = 'Program'
                      it_result = lt_range_table
                      i_read_only = read_only
                      i_value_help_type = IF_WD_VALUE_HELP_HANDLER=>CO_PREFIX_SEARCHHELP
                      i_value_help_id = 'ZPROGSTUDY' ).
where ZPROGSTUDY is a new search help I've set up with an exit to retrieve the values.

The code you have is OK. I copied your code into a test program and it worked as expected.
I used a search help where the possible values are populated in the search help exit, exactly as in your case. The only time it did not work was when read_only = X, but that is obvious also from a visual point of view since the input field is greyed out in that case. The popup also tells you is in RO mode...
Does your SHLP work when you test it from SE11? Returns values?
SAP provides a lot of WD4A sample code, see for example component WDR_TEST_SELECT_OPTIONS look for
select-option fields > special cases > input helps > Non field-specific input help using search help

Default values to be populated in the search option ' Equip by equip list'

All Experts,
I am running the transaction code IE01 to create a equipment. While creating, i would like to select a reference equipment. When i am doing so, there are so many included search options are displayed. Now, there are two queries from here onwards.
a)Is it possible to hide / deactivate all other included search options except ' Equipments by Equipments list'.
b)When the option 'Equipments by Equipments list' is selected, is it any way to default the values for the fields 'Equipment category' as 'M' and the 'Class type as 002'

You will not be able to accomplish this using standard functionality without doing some development. It maybe possible to accomplish this through Transaction variant.
Other than the above, the simplest way to hide the search options would be to place a implicit enhancement at the begining of the FM "PM_HLP_PREVENT_RECURSION" to delete of the search helps other than "Equip By Equip List" based on the calling program and screen number.
With respect to defaulting, other than what Paul had indicated , try defaulting those values by setting the Parameter ID.

hi Abhsilasha,
I think your code is some thing wrong.
you have to assign free value help like below method.
in the attribute( the select option field ) properties, you will find input help mode property, in that select 'freely programmed'.
then you willl get some more fields, there you have to provide ZVALUE_HELP
of follow reema suggestion in below link

Go to Microsoft website to fix install and Unistall problems. Click "Run now" from Fix it to remove all iTunes & related installer files:

Be aware that Windows Installer CleanUp Utility will not remove the actual program from your computer. However, it will remove the installation files so that you can start the installation, upgrade, or uninstall over.

Latest Value - Select Option - At Selection Value help

Hi,
I need the current values entered in the Select Option of the Selection Screen while generating the Value Help.
There are two selection option fields in the Selection Screen, Selopt1 and Selopt2, to generate the Value help of Selopt2 i need the latest values of the Selopt1, the function module dynp_read_values does not return all the values of the selectop option Selopt1 it returns only the first row of selopt1-high and selopt1-low, the function module RS_REFRESH_FROM_SELECTOPTIONS does not return the current values entered in the selection screen, is there any way to retrive the latest values of the select option in the event At Selection Screen on Value Request.

When you go for f4 help on selopt2, you can use following code to get the current value of selopt1,

In selection screen, you can directly fetch the value of selection options or parameters by selopt1 or selopt2 (in your case by using AT Selection Screen for value request).

The key word here is "generic value help". This means the values that I want to fill the drop down with changes all the time based on various criteria. I need to fill the help values within the ABAP code based on the values in internal tables.

Implementation of F4 value help for a search field which is an EEWB field

I am trying to create a F4 value help for a search field which is an eewb field.The f4 value help jus need to be a pop up containing the values of the field existing in the system.Since this is a search field the GET_V method cannot be used. I tried implementing it by creating a search help and then using it in the GET_DQUERY_VALUEHELPS method.But the problem when u use the search help is that all the values including the null values and duplicate entries will be populated when f4 is clicked.Is there any way to filter the values that get populated when f4 is clicked?If any other method can be used to implement the functionality please let me know..Thanks in advance....

the GET_V methods worked for me most of the time. Even in advanced searchs. Only time they do not is if there is a different aproach considered in the GET_DQUERY_VALUEHELPS.
As the GET_V_ you created obviously was called I suppose you found the correct place to Populate it to be used in the search.
I do not know what the problem with the NULL values and duplicate entries is you talked about, but it sounds to me the creation of your valuehelp class is flawed. Not the integration into the UI.
Maybe have a look at SAPs' standard implementations of Search Components. You should get a feeling for how search helps work. See. BT111S_OPPT, BP_HEAD_SEARCH

Value help for select options (pass the selected values to the select opt)

I created a custom value help for my select options.
It works fine, when the user clicks on the value help, my own view is displayed, and the user can select the required values:

The problem is, how can I pass the values to the select option? When the user selects the values in my view, I have them in an internal table. But how can i pass these values to the select option? I suppose there is declared method for this... but which one?
