Searchin pattern in datbase table.(Number of rows in table :More than 3 cro
Actually i have a db table having 2 columns(columnA,time).db table has 70lac rows.I have to retireve all those values which are present min. 2 times in the interval of 10 minutes for a particular value of columnA. eg. columnA,time values are
{a,June-01-2011 10:13:12},{b,June-01-2011 10:14:12},{b,June-01-2011 10:15:12},{c,June-01-2011 10:16:12},{b,June-01-2011 10:17:12},{d,June-01-2011 10:18:12},{d,June-01-2011 10:25:12},{e,June-01-2011 10:26:12},{e,June-01-2011 11:38:12},{f,June-01-2011 10:39:12},{f,June-01-2011 10:43:12},{a,June-01-2011 10:44:12},{f,June-01-2011 10:51:12},{b,June-01-2011 10:51:12},{b,June-01-2011 10:53:12},{c,June-01-2011 10:54:12},{g,June-01-2011 10:55:12},{b,June-01-2011 10:56:12},{b,June-01-2011 10:57:12},{b,June-01-2011 10:58:12}
Then I have to retrieve following rows in output : {b,June-01-2011 10:14:12},{b,June-01-2011 10:15:12},{b,June-01-2011 10:17:12},{d,June-01-2011 10:18:12},{d,June-01-2011 10:25:12},{f,June-01-2011 10:39:12},{f,June-01-2011 10:43:12},{b,June-01-2011 10:51:12},{b,June-01-2011 10:53:12},{b,June-01-2011 10:56:12},{b,June-01-2011 10:57:12},{b,June-01-2011 10:58:12}
Is it related to data Mining? i have 3 crore rows in database table.I have to search such type of many patterns in my application.I have spent hours looking for tutorials on Google. However I cannot seem to find anything that holds the hand? try to be more clear, i'm in lack of ideas in this problem, even it sounds like a classic. Can oracle java data mining solve the problem?
first of all thanks for reply, i will take care of your suggestion.
Number of rows in table : More than 3*10pow7(30 Milion rows)(But it can be more than 120 milion)
Actually i have to display all those rows which setisfy following criteria:( Specific value of column A should appear min 2 times in the interval of 10 minutes.)
for eg.
eg 1. {b,June-01-2011 10:14:12},{b,June-01-2011 10:15:12},{b,June-01-2011 10:17:12}{This set is appearing 3 times in the any interval of 10 minutes.}
EG2 {a,June-01-2011 10:13:12} is present only one time,so i dont want this rows in output.
EG# {e,June-01-2011 10:26:12},{e,June-01-2011 11:38:12} is present 2 times in db,but not in the interval of 10 minutes,so i dont want this rows as output.(t1=10:26:12,t2=11:38:12 difference is more than 10 minutes.)
In my eg. i specified only 2 columns but in actual scenario there will be 8-10 columns in table. This is only one pattern which i specified, but there are many more pattern which i have to search in db.As specified above in eg. was only one pattern,After fulfiling this pattern It has to pass many other pattern.and i want result should be retrieved very fast.
Please dont go into answer of above eg.Actually i want, what should be approach of such type of problems?
Is this problem related to oracle data mining and how?
Can data mining algorthms(Minimum Description Length ,Naive Bayes,Apriori,Decision Tree,Non-Negative Matrix Factorization ,Support Vector Machine...etc..) solve my problem?
Different-2 type of queries will be fired against this table?
if i am still not clear then let me know.

Constraint for insertion in a table if inserted rows should not more than 2
Problem: A Teacher only can assigned for maximum 2 Subjects in the same class Standard.
actually i want to create a table like following
create table teaches
teacherid int,
standard varchar(10),
subjectcode varchar(10),
constraint cpk_teaches primary key(teacherid, standard, subjectcode)
and i want that when any data inserted in the table,
a constraint will work in the manner that there is
NO POSSIBILITY TO INSERT the data for
(teacherid, standard) columns THRICE (3rd time)
actually i want that only maximum of 2 different data will insert in
(subjectcode) for the same (teacherid, standard)Thanks for the suggestion,
But, my original problem remains on the same stage.
Actually this table has all the keys as foreign key of other tables.
Why?, is not necessary this time.
If you don't mind kindly give me the code of constraint, if any to solve my problem.
Problem: I want to insert only maximum of two different Subjects for same Teacher and Standard and not more.
In real life like following.
Mr. TCHR-1 is teaching subject SUB-1 in standard STD-1.
Mr. TCHR-1 is teaching subject SUB-2 in standard STD-1.
But, can't Mr. TCHR-1 is teaching subject SUB-3 in standard STD-1.
My table structure is not in the state of changing due to some reasons.
It is, as previously described.
create table teaches
tchrid int,
std varchar(10),
subcode varchar(10),
constraint cpk_teaches primary key(tchrid, subcode, std)

Is it possible to show the count of number or rows in table on the Home page Tab button.
On home page there is a Tab called Count and I want to show the count on the right corner of this tab button.
Please helpCreate an application item. APP_HOME_COUNT.
Create an application process:
make the application process type "on new instance" if you only want this to run once
make it "on load before header" if you want to have the value set every page load
application process source:
select count(*) into APP_HOME_COUNT from <your table>
modify the tab name to reference the app item, maybe something like "Count(&APP_HOME_COUNT.)"
result should look like this "Count(5)"

How to count number of rows in table
can I get number of row in table except Count(*) in pl/sql
is there any other wayAlso posted and answered here
how to count number of rows in table
count(*) will be the fastest way. It is only slow if the table has a vast number of rows, in which case why do you need to know the tables has 73552436467721 rows and not 73552436467737 rows. It doesn't seem to be much use. Either that or you are counting them a lot, which again seems rather pointless. -

First try to find pea.external_account_id from per_all_people_f,per_all_assignments_f,fnd_application.fnd_id_flex_structures etc
and then find
SELECt pea.segment5
FROM pay_external_accounts pea

ORA-01427: single-row subquery returns more than one rowHi,
Welcome to the forum!
Whenever you have a question, please post some sample data, so that people can re-create the problem and test their solutions.
CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements, like the ones below, are great:
CREATE TABLE baemployee
( employee NUMBER (4)
, stock_nbr VARCHAR2 (10)
INSERT INTO baemployee (employee, stock_nbr) VALUES (1234, 'FUBAR');
CREATE TABLE employee
( employee NUMBER (4)
, emp_status VARCHAR2 (10)
INSERT INTO employee (employee, emp_status) VALUES (1234, 'ACTIVE');CREATE TABLE AS is good, too:
CREATE TABLE emp_check_dig
AS SELECT 1234 AS employee, 'AA1234567890ZZZ' AS check_digit FROM dual
UNION ALL SELECT 1234, 'AA2121212121ZZZ' FROM dual
;Also post the results you want from that data. In this case, the results would be the contents of the baemployee table after you run the UPDATE.
Would you want:
employee stock_nbr
1234 1234567890or would you want
employee stock_nbr
1234 2121212121If you run the UPDATE statement you posted with the data above, you'll get the "ORA-01427: single-row subquery returns more than one row" error, and you can see what causes it: there is more than one row from emp_check_dig that could be used to UPDATE the same row of baemployee. Say what you want to do in this situation (and why), and someone will help you find a way to do it. -

What does "sucessful" mean in this case? Does is mean producing the right results? What are the right results? How can you tell them apart from the wrong results?
As the errror message says, the (immediate) problem is that a single-row sub-query is returning more than a single row. If the sub-query tries to bring back more than 1 row, which one do you want to use? Or do you want to use some kind of aggregate, such as the average, which might not be the same as any of them?
Whenever you have a problem, post a little sample data (CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements, relevant columns only) for all the tables involved, and the results you want from that data.
Explain, using specific examples, how you get those results from that data.
Simplify the problem as much as possible. For example, remove all columns and tables that have nothing to do with the part you don't know how to do.
Always say what version of Oracle you're using (e.g. 11.2.0.2.0).

Single Sub Row Query Returns More Than 1 Row!
I am trying to update values in a table from another table and getting the error: Single Sub Row Query Returns More Than 1 Row.
I want table B's PRV_NAME updated into table A's PRV_NAME where A.PRVID = B.PRVID where B.PRV_TYPE = M'
Both tables have all unique PRVID's, however, table B has PRVID's that have the same name. So table B data can look like this:
PRVID PRV_NAME
1234 PHOENIX MED
1235 SAC MED
1236 SAC MED
1237 OVERLAND
etc..
So, as you can see the PRVID's are unique, but not the PRV_NAME's. Is this the reason why I get this error?
I did not build the tables and have no control over what is put in them. If this is the reason for the error, is there any way to resolve this?
For reference, here is the query. Maybe there is something wrong with this?
update msb_prv_source ps
set ps.prv_name =
(select prv00.prv00_prv_name
from prv00_prv prv00
join msb_prv_source ps
on prv00.prv00_prv_id = ps.prvid
where prv00.prv00_prv_type = 'M')

Both tables have all unique PRVID's, however, table B has PRVID's that have the same name. So table B data can look like this:
PRVIDIf b.prvid is really unique, then
UPDATE a
SET prv_name = (
SELECT prv_name
FROM b
WHERE a.prvid = b.prvid
;should work, whether the other columns are unique or not.
(Depending on your data and your requirements, you might want to use MERGE rather than UPDATE).
I hope this answers your question.
If not, post a little sample data (CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements, relevant columns only) for all the tables involved, and the results you want from that data.
In the case of a DML operation (such as UPDATE) the sample data should show what the tables are like before the DML, and the results will be the contents of the changed table(s) after the DML.
Explain, using specific examples, how you get those results from that data.
Always say what version of Oracle you're using (e.g. 11.2.0.2.0).

I see you've posted your code now:
update msb_prv_source ps
set ps.prv_name =
(select prv00.prv00_prv_name
from prv00_prv prv00
join msb_prv_source ps
on prv00.prv00_prv_id = ps.prvid
where prv00.prv00_prv_type = 'M')Even if ps.prvid is unique, the sub-query can return more than 1 row if prv00.prv00_prv_id is not unique. When that that's the case, what do you want to happen? Include examples when you post the sample data and desired results. -

ORA-01427: single-row subquery returns more than one row -- no solution
Hello to all:
I have to tables:
Table a anwender (Email,Dept). --> all fields are filled
Table b dingo (Name, email, dept) --> all fields are filled
I now want to update the table a with the data from table b:
update anwender a set a.abteilung = ( select distinct b.abteilung from dingo b where b.email = a.email);
Then I got the error: ORA-01427: single-row subquery returns more than one row
Every dept is about 100x in the database, so it is clear that i got more than one row back. But how can I update the table now?Okay, I got several duplicates, and I deletet a lot of data in my database.
Now I want to remove all entries with more than one departments per mail adresses.
a
select email, count(abteilung) from dingo group by email having count(abteilung)>1 order by count(abteilung)
shows me all the fake mailadresses.
But a
delete from dingo where email in (select email,count(abteilung) from dingo group by email having count(abteilung)>1 order by count(abteilung) );
gives me a
SQL Error: ORA-00907: missing right parenthesis
I´m very confused now ...
Oops, now I got the solution:
delete from dingo where email in (select email from (select email,count(abteilung) from dingo group by email having count(abteilung)>1 )) ;

Update gives "single-row subquery returns more than one row"
Hi,
I have to update a table by getting values from two other tables. While doing that the inner query returns more than one value. I am not sure how to implement the logic without returning more than one row in sub quesry. Need help on that.
My query:
update buf_office_str o
set o.manager_ident =
(select sp.ident
from se2_r_src_sourceperson sp ,
(select distinct director_name, team_name from buf_sales_dump )t
where SP.SRCNAME = upper(substr(t.director_name,instr(t.director_name,' ')+1,length(t.director_name))||', '||substr(t.director_name,1,instr(t.director_name,' ')-1 ) )
and o.office_descr = t.team_name
Basically the query gets teh manager id from sp table where sp.srcname = t.team-name.
The office descr should be equal to the team_name.
This is the logic I am working towards:
For each office, i get the office_descr and get corresponding team_name. Match the team's director_name (from table t) with the sp.name and return the employee's id (sp.ident) for that office_descr.
I need to update all 50 offices with corresponding managerid for that office in buf_office_str table.
Is it possible to get done in one update? Pls let me know.Hi,
"Single-row subquery returns more than one row" is one of those error messages that actually means what it says: the correlated sub-query in your SET clause is sometimes returning 2 or more rows .
The solution could be as simple as making the sub-query SELECT DISTINCT , as its in-line view, t, already is.
It's possible you have bad data, or a mistake in your statement.
To find the problem cases, you can run something like this:
WITH sub_q AS
SELECT -- DISTINCT ?
sp.ident
, t.team_name
, COUNT (*) OVER (PARTITION BY t.team_name) AS cnt
FROM se2_r_src_sourceperson sp
, ( SELECT DISTINCT director_name
, team_name
FROM buf_sales_dump
) t
WHERE sp.srcname = UPPER ( SUBSTR ( t.director_name
, INSTR ( t.director_name
) + 1
, LENGTH (t.director_name)
|| ', '
|| SUBSTR ( t.director_name
, 1
, INSTR ( t.director_name
) - 1
SELECT o.* -- or whatever helps you
, sq.*
FROM buf_office_str o
JOIN sub_q sq ON o.office_descr = sq.team_name
WHERE sq.cnt > 1
;If you'd like more help, post a little sample data (CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements, relevant columns only) for all the tables as they exist before the UPDATE, and the results you want from that data (that is, the contents of buf_office_str after the UPDATE). Make sure the problem occurs with the sample data you post. -
Automated row fetch returns more than one row
Greetings All,
Does anyone know of a way to call a page if the automated row fetch returns more than one row. I have a form with a primary and secondary key. If I search only on the primary key and there is more than one row I would like to call a popup with the multiple list, is this possible?
Regards
MarkCreate a view on a table you want to update if you have more than two key values.
However, the automated row fetch does support two key values.
