In other words, is there any rule that I could convert regular ISBNs to ebook IDs? Or where I could find the reference?

Try searching Amazon or Barnes & Noble or your local library, if they have an online search, for the ISBN. That will give you the title of the book so you can then search the iBooks store. Or just buy the book from Amazon or B&N as a Kindle or Nook book; both have viewers for Windows and Mac as well as iOS devices.

In search of simple java editor

Hello,
I'm currenty searching for a java component that can display images.
Preferably it has:
- zooming capabilities
- pluggable commands
I have allready tried using DisplayJAI in combination with imagefilters. The only thing missing is a simple zooming (currently, I have quality loss when zooming in and out succesively).
Does anyone know of a simple imagewidget that has these capabilities (preferably open-source)?

How do I search the downloaded Java? Platform, Standard Edition 6 API?

I am a newbie to Java (I had done some limited programming in C ++ years ago). I have downloaded the Java? Platform, Standard Edition 6 API Specification, and can view this in my Firefox browser. How can I search to certain classes in this documentation easily? For instance, if I want to ding out all of the operations available for String or System.out, etc, , is there a way that I can type in System.out, or String somewhere, and get a list of what is available?

The value of args.length would depend on how you ran your program. When you run a program on the command line like this:

Then it looks for a static method named "main" in the HelloWorld class, and passes it that array. So in the first case above, args.length would be zero, and in the second case it would be three.

Search Engine in Java

As per my knowledge any search engine while use the meta data of a html page first then go for the whole contents.
Ans it is always better to use google or any other searching tool instead of developing it from scratch. it is good only for practice.

Search Algorithm in Java

Hey Guys,
I have written a crude search algorithm which extracts 4 fields from a database table into the String type of Java. Then this String object is tokenized and then within these tokens I search for the text the user has used.
Once, I faced this problem that one of the String pulled from the DB was so huge that I got the OutOfMemory exception. Simple stating it, the text was so big that my system could not store all that text in one String object.
I resolved this by adding more heap to java by doing:
java -Xmx512M MySearchClass
Now I am afraid that if there is another HUGE text in the DB , I can still run out of memory.
Do I just need to get MORE RAM to my system and allot really huge heap space, such as 4 GB or so , so that if need be, the JVM can use it ?
Suppose I get a server machine with 4 GB RAM, at some stage I'd still have an upper limit on the amount of text I can extract from the DB, right ?
Is there any other way to stream the text from DB and then search ? Remember that I am tokenizing the text in the algorithm, so I think I can't use a buffer, or can I ?

These are SQL queries. I use SQL queries to pull out the text in the DB and then store it in a String object. The problem is that the text in DB can get so huge that the String object cannot hold it anymore due to memory limits. The JVM gets assigned a heap size and the size of the String object can get really big to exceed the heap size.
I used : java -Xmx512M MySearchClass
That assigned 512MB to the JVM so I haven't encountered the OutOfMemory exception so far. But my guess is that for some other data set, the String can be so big that even 512MB might not be enough.
This search algorithm will be deployed on a server class machine with about 4 GB RAM. So we can give JVM 4GB heap space to use. But its a limitation again , right ?
These text in DB are extracted from PDF files.

Binary search tree in java using a 2-d array

Good day, i have been wrestling with this here question.
i think it does not get any harder than this. What i have done so far is shown at the bottom.
We want to use both Binary Search Tree and Single Linked lists data structures to store a text. Chaining
techniques are used to store the lines of the text in which a word appears. Each node of the binary search
tree contains four fields :
(i) Word
(ii) A pointer pointing to all the lines word appears in
(iii) A pointer pointing to the subtree(left) containing all the words that appears in the text and are
predecessors of word in lexicographic order.
(iv) A pointer pointing to the subtree(right) containing all the words that appears in the text and are
successors of word in lexicographic order.
Given the following incomplete Java classes BinSrchTreeWordNode, TreeText, you are asked to complete
three methods, InsertionBinSrchTree, CreateBinSrchTree and LinesWordInBinSrchTree. For
simplicity we assume that the text is stored in a 2D array, a row of the array represents a line of the text.
Each element in the single linked list is represented by a LineNode that contains a field Line which represents a line in which the word appears, a field next which contains the address of a LineNode representing the next line in which the word appears.

The method InsertionBinSrchTree inserts a word (w) in the Binary search tree. The method Create-
BinSrchTree creates a binary search tree by repeated calls to InsertionBinSrchTree to insert elements

i think it does not get any harder than this.What is so difficult to understand. Google an implementation of a binary tree using a single array. Then you can integrate this into the required 2-dimension array for your linked list implemented as an array in your 2-d array.

Customizing standard MSS Employee Search (Web Dynpro Java)

Hi Guys,
Currently I am working on EP 7.0, and we have some requirements on MSS Employee Search.
Based on SAP help:
Technical Names of iViews :     com.sap.pct.erp.mss.employeesearch_geinfo
Technical Names of Web Dynpro Applications :     sap.com/mss~eepro/GeneralInformation
So downloaded package msseeprosap.com through NWDI, and opened in NWDS.
There are 3 applications there:
com.sap.xss.hr.eeprofile.GeneralInformation
com.sap.xss.hr.eeprofile.CompensationInformation
com.sap.xss.hr.eeprofile.PersonnelDevelopment
and 2 Components:
CEmployeeProfile_1Comp
CEmployeeProfileAllComp
but there is no views inside these 2 components which contains the screen layout.(E.g: Dropdown list for Employee Selection, Input fields for Last name, Personal Number, Personal area, etc)
How can I identify which package contains the screen layout for employee search?

currently our project has a requirement to modify Employee Search iview: When user select one Org Unit, We need to have a button under the table which contains the users.
We imported package msstmvsap.com and found that it is using OADP screen.
Thus we imported pcui_gpoadpsap.com, we feel View "DataViewView" is the view that contains the user table, so I simply added one textview there, then deploy to server.
Then I run Employee Search, it is giving error

How to implement a search engine in java ?

1. Can anyone explain me with java code how to connect to a excel database residing on a
different(I know that we do it thro' dsn) machine in my network. I know that we do it with a dsn.
I created a network map but when I execute the statement

then I am getting the error:

2. I am doing a website where some pages of website are jsp, servlets. I want to implement a search functionality in my site so that if the user types a keyword then I need to show him the links to the pages(whether jsp,html) which contain this keyword. How do I do that other than using property files .

With regard to your first question,you need to supply user name and passwrd in the connection statement.I guess that's problem when it saya..too few parameters. IF there is no user name and passwd, sne dnull strings.
With regard to the search functionality, there are many ways you can implement it.I am not sure about any readymade products available on the web, however you can code it yourself, it might be time consuming but I feel it is better.You can do it this way:
1. Parse all the html docs in ur website, ignore all the html tags and maintain a HASH table of all words and the locations you found the word in.You can optioanlly remove all stopwords, i.e. words that occur commonly like 'a', 'an' etc..
2. The next phase is to take a query through a cgi program and search the hash table for all keywords,make sure you seach for each keyword in the query seperately.Retreieve the docs, display the results on a html page.

R/3 search helps in java web dynpro

Hello,
A customer of ours has some Z transactions in its R/3 system, which basically present a very simplyfied version of MIGO. This Z transaction makes extencive use of Search Helps, which in some cases have been extended.
A ABAP developer with some Web Dynpro experience showed me that it was easy to integrate these search helps into his web dynpro application.
I cannot find how to do this in java web dynpro with the developer studio. Is this possible and if yes, how?

Hi Walter,
You can use search helps in Web Dynpro for Java also. The feilds with check table in R/3 automatically give search helps. To provide explicit search help you need use EVS or OVS.

TREX Search using Standalone Java code

Hi Expert,
I am new to TREX and KM, so please help me in this query.
I want a <b>standalone JAVA program</b> to call the TREX API's and do the search. Now here when I searched this forum I got to know that TREX APIs as such can't be used directly.
So please suggest a work around for this. If anyone have any code samples then please let me know.
Also I have read something about a <b>Java Client</b> through which we can da a TREX search. From where can I get this code/page.

How to interact with google search engine using java HTTP POST

I am trying to develop an desktop app that acts as an online radio tuner. I want to use google as an index site for actually searching for radio stations online. So I was wandering if it is possible for me to use java to actually interface with the google search engine servers. For example, I have built a gui that allows you to enter search text. This gui will connect to the web. I would like it to connect to the Google site and post the query to the google web servers. Then i would like to began to parse the response( html page) that i get back from the google servers. Like using google without actually typing in the text field on the google site. Can anyone tell me if it is possible to do this with java. If so, what would be the best way to go about doing this. Thanks.

Thanks for the response. It was actually alot easier to do than I anticipated. All I had to do was create a URL object initialized with the google url(search text embedded in the url - http://www.google.com/search?q=" + searchText + "&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF8).
Looks like this:
