Searching for a switch
Hello,
I'm searching for a switch and maybe some people know one that adheres to what I'm looking for.
* I would like a switch with not too many ports - 5 or so.
* It has to be of good quality. I was thinking about 3com/smc?-switches ... ? They don't seem to have something that fullfills the requirements, which I'm writing down here.
* It has to be a full gigabit-switch. I was thinking about rolling out a minimum of cat 6-cable. It seems that the shop that I look at from time to time doesn't sell cat 6, but cat 7, so I may choose that.
* It has to support vlans (802.1q?) and priorization (802.1p).
* It would be nice to have POE (803.3af)
* Price around 100 €. If I start buying switches, I probably need more than 1.
It would also be nice if it could report when there is a hardware-failure or so, but that isn't necessary. I think that the cat-6-connectors are gold-plated, not? Maybe that is a nice extra.
I find my list of requirements reasonable ..., but maybe there is not a lot of interest in these items by people? Maybe I' missing some important things, so feel free to add them if you like (of course ).

I just made the switch to mac. I am have installed all the new PS6 CC and bridge and I am now trying to add some presets to my ACR but when I search for the folder to place them it is not there. From what I researched it says it should be under camera library/application support/adobe/camera raw/settings but I can only get to library/application support/adobe/ and then there are two different camera raw options I have checked both and there are not settings folder. If anyone can help me please thanks
Apple most likely has the same poor taste that Microsoft does when it come to defaults. Microsoft likes to hide things like settings, preset, folders etc from normal users think the dumb or something else. If Apple also hide things you will have to make some system setting changes that will allow Finder to do it job and find it for you.

As soon as I keep the iPhone (iPhone 5) on the desk the network goes off and when I swipe it then only it starts searching for the network and get it in 30 seconds.
If someone is calling me during that time it says mobile is either switched off or outside the coverage area.

recently bought 4S, it keeps searching for network, reads invalid SIM, keeps searching for network, have switched the handset on and off several times, have tried 2 new micro chips, re set the network too ! nothing seems to be working !!! Iam in Delhi

I turned off MMS today and suddenly all my text messages dissapeared from SMS 'inbox'. switched the iphone 4s on and off many times, nothing. If I search for an old text message by text I can see it, but it's not in the box of SMS

I am investigating the performance of an application.
Some new Information on this. I get some speedup by deactivating the locking. But the app is not really responsive. Paging down a grid takes about 4-6sec per page. Another test showed that there is no difference if I use one table or a join.
Now I made some JSP. These are running real fast. The normal pages load under 2sec.
So far I can see the problems seems to in the communication between the BC4J and the DACs.
Has anyone some optimization suggestion? (I use the generated frames and JSPs)

currently I try to speed up our application that is based on applets and DACFs in local deployment mode, too.
Here are my results and I would like to discuss my observations within this thread:
- Startup time (login) about 30 sec. is normal and can't be improved programmatically.
- Use JDK 1.3 (The Swing stuff is improved a lot and the dacs are derived from them).
- Use Lov-Controls instead of Comboboxes wherever possible.
- Trace the sql-statements generated by the business-components and analyze the results. Mybe your code executes some queries unnecessarily.
- Build a prototype of a form with high complexity (much business logic) and check if this speed is sufficent for all your clients - this should be a KO-Criteria! If this test fails, you have to search for another architecture (JSPs).
But the most boostable advice is this: Try to reduce the data-transfer between your forms and the database as much as you can.
* Using a grid control is very convenient, but is it really necessary to fill it with a statment like SELECT * FROM BLAH_TABLE...?
* SetRestrictedQuery(...) with a parameter to reduce the transfer fo the query results of the LOV control.
* ViewLinks are fine - they fetch the detailed information only when its necessary.
* I doubt, that it will be a good three tier server side component design, but what about defining a View for complex joins in the database and wrap a bc-entity around it (of course you have to rethink your UI) instead of setting up different entities, views and view-links in the bc-layer?
What I really want to know is, if putting the bc-tier in the database will end up in better response time for applets. I won't go on this last adventure trip, if I'm not convinced that it will be worth the effort.
Can anyone admit or am I wrong in some points?

How do I use domain guessing for single word but search for multiple?
I would like to configure the search bar to make smart decisions about weather it should fill in an address or search for results. At the very least I would like it to be able to search when multiple words are entered but fill in the address when it's only one word (eg: typing "zelda" would take me to www.zelda.com but "the legend of zelda" would use search)
The answer that you are probably looking for is what Google calls the '''I'm Feeling Lucky''' Search. Not quite what you describe but if there is one result that stands out as the most common result, you will get taken directly to the page. (Wouldn't work for me, I seldom find what I looking for in the first five hits.)

The '''AwesomeBar''' search is what you get in the location bar drop-down when you enter strings of characters that exist in the Title and/or url address of a previously visited site or one that you have in your bookmarks. You see those choices '''before''' you press "Enter".
Once you press "Enter" by default you would do a search with your currently selected (default) search engine, as if you had entered the search into the search bar.
I don't like the last method and would use a ''keyword shortcut'' to use a customized search or to go directly to a web page. But without knowledge of what is available using the Location bar to run an external search works okay for most people.

Recently our Office Depot Tech switched us from an older version of Firefox to the current version. For the last two years, we were able to search for sites on Yahoo and icons would appear. The icons would suggest that a site is unsafe to click onto because a red triangle with an exclamation point would appear. These icons no longer appear since the Tech switched us to the current version of Firefox. I want to be sure I am clicking onto safe sites. I believe the icon used to be a green padlock if the site was safe to enter.

"Search for" results not shown in list view
Hello,
I just installed Leopard a few days ago, and so far I'm very happy.
The ony oddity I noticed today was that "Search for" results (the default searches in the pane on the left side) are not shown in list view.
What happens is this:
- I open a finder window in list view.
- I click e.g. on "Search for" - "All documents".
- The status bar on the bottom of the finder window says e.g. "1789 objects", but the actual window is empty (although it has a very long scrollbar). If I click somewhere in the empty space, info for an actual file is shown - as if the files were there, just shown in white letters on white background. I can also type in the search field, and the status bar updates accordingly, but again, no files show up.
Icon and Coverflow views, however, do work.
- If I switch from Icon to List view, a file list is shown for the fraction of a second, then disappears.
This is not an end-of-the-world-bug for me, but still pretty annoying.
Any idea what might be the problem here? I have no exotic software installed that could cause trouble; just QuickSilver and the usual productivity apps.

How can I get a search bar added to my email archives screen to make it easier to search for the right archives folder, Samsung has one so I was surprised to see that I have to scroll up and down to find the right folder?

Is there any way to search for a term using the Firefox search field, and have the results automatically open in a new tab? When there was support for Google Toolbar, I was able to do this; now, whenever I want to search for something, I have to open a new tab to do it, and cut-and-paste my search into the search field in the new tab. I used to be able to highlight, drag, and drop something into the search field and have it automatically open in a new tab. This is enough for me to switch to Chrome . . .

About Google toolbar............
Google decided that they will no longer produce the Google Toolbar for Firefox 5 and newer version. It is best to move on to other alternatives than to try any "hacks" to the toolbar that may or may not perform in the future. Future versions of Google toolbar will only work with IE7-9. Then there are seven pages of empty grey squares ( where the images should be ) and scrolling down to the bottom there is a button which has `show more results` written on it, this happens every time I do an image search. I have done the same search using `internet explorer` and there is no problem finding thousands of pages of images.
Finally Ive found a solution !!!!.
Open your browser, click images and search for any image, when the images appear (probably only two pages of them) scroll right to the bottom of the page and click `Switch to basic version`. Problem solved!!!!!!. -
I have an 800 page pdf document to index and so far I have a script that will search for a list of keywords. But the text has large sections of code in a different font, and I think we would like to generate an index of just code examples. Is there a way to search for text of a given font in applescript? Something like

You asked about the script formatter. red_menace of this forum wrote the script I use. To use it, you copy the script that you want to format to the clipboard and run the formatter. This then places the marked-up text in the clipboard so that you can paste it into the forum page.

WiFi won't even search for networks.
This problem is only with my iPhone on 5.0.1 (and previously 5.0), not with my iPad.
My iPhone will connect to WiFi initially, but will often just switch back to 3G and say WiFi "Not Connected". This is random, but I found it happens a lot when I try to actually use the internet-- especially when updating or downloading from the App Store.
When I go under WiFi in settings, it will search for a second then won't list any networks at all-- even though there are usually 4 listed where I live. If I turn WiFi on and off, or turn Airplane mode on and off, it just won't search at all, and lists none. Usually restarting the phone solves the problem, but eventually it stops working again later. Restoring hasn't helped.
Anyone with the same issue, or suggestions?Do a full reset /Settings/General/Reset/Reset All Settings

Searching for a good programming text editor
Does there exist a text editor for Linux that has got these features?
-can open multiple documents
-can easily switch to any open document, e.g. by just clicking the document in a list or tree on the left (tabs alone won't do because there's not enough space to slow 20+ documents if there are only tabs)
-has a built in command prompt to type compile and debugging commands, which is by default in the folder where your documents are, if all documents are in the same folder at least, otherwise it doesn't really matter to me
-can save sessions, projects, ..., which basically is a way to quickly open your multiple documents belonging to a certain project
-has a super cool search function with options like "whole word" and "case sensitive" clearly visible in the search dialog, and remembering these settings for any open document you search in
-can easily search through all open documents (e.g. like visual studio can)
-has the type of text editing GUI where you can use the mouse to select text, use ctrl+a to select all, use ctrl+c/ctrl+v to copy paste, home/end to navigate the cursor to begin/end of line, F3 to search for next match, etc... (so no vi derivates I'm afraid)
-has modern interface, menus, file save/open dialogs, etc..., not something that appears to come from 1995 (so I think emacs is out of the question)
What I'm looking for is similar to Kate 3.5 or parts of MS Visual Studio. However Kate 4.1 isn't suitable anymore because they destroyed the search function of it. And preferably something that is independent of a desktop, because it's sad that Kate's features can get ruined by people who develop a desktop.
Does anyone have ideas if there exists such a program?

Look good, but ONE thing: I found that F8 "Output" opens a screen that has some properties of a linux terminal except some weird "Exit code:1" messages. However, if I press the "up" arrow, it doesn't scroll through the console history but instead moves a cursor up. I need it to work like a linux terminal with history because I don't want to retype long commands all the time. It also doesn't show the correct type and color of my user prompt. Is there any way to get a more conventional console in the Scite window somewhere?
Also, scite's interface also looks a bit 1995
EDIT: oh hmmm and it appears to not be able to open more than 10 files. That's too limited I'm afraid

I am able to connect to internet wirelessly, and wired....but how do I check what my status is...( for instance, if I'm connected wirelessly at 54 mpbs or 48?, etc..)
