Searching Japanese using keywords

When searching using keywords in the awesome bar, it converts any Japanese characters to their percent-encoded forms (sorry if I'm using the wrong terminology here). This is no problem for most searches, for example http://eow.alc.co.jp/search?q=%E3%81%A0%E3%81%AE and http://eow.alc.co.jp/search?q=だの both give the same result and load the same page without issue.
However, some searches (I've only noticed this with amazon.com and amazon.co.jp, but presumably it could happen on other sites) do not play nice with this conversion. For example, entering "amazon だ" ("amazon" being my amazon search key) gives me the URL http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=%3F, which instead searches for "?" for some reason. If I manually substitute だ instead of the %3F (giving http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=%E3%81%A0), it conducts the search as expected. I don't really know what's going on here (i.e., why Amazon is showing it as %3F when it should be %E3%81%A0) but hopefully someone more familiar with this can shed some light on the situation.
EDIT: I should note that non-Japanese searches work just fine. In addition, no sites (that I've tried) have had problems with Japanese searches other than Amazon.

You can read about that in the mozillaZine knowledge base article that I posted above:
Difference between (small s) %s and (Capital S) %S
1. (small s): %s will have additional substitution replacements: # by %23, % by %25, / by %2F, and @ by %40.
2. (Capital S): %S will not have substitutions and allow use of C++ in a Google search, allow use of @ in an email substitution, allow use of a fragment-id in a url substitution index.html#example2, and use of a directory as in code/example2.txt.

  • Tutorial Announcement .:: Searching News Using Keywords ::.

    hello friends
Today i made this new tutorial about searching database using "KEYWORDS", searching by keywords will give you the ability to search through many tables in your database, even in one or more fields in the same table.
when a searcher type a word, or even complete phrase, the results will be specified to this word or phrase.
For example if you searched about the word "News", and it mentioned in the news title and news content in tow records, these two records will appear in the search results.
Results,,, results will be something very advanced, amazing, you can say it`s 70% of MX SiteSearch options.
Also i included small script that will be very helpful showing the full details page URL dynamically, specially in the results page, this script automatically detecting the Host name, Site name, so it will be very easy to show the full path to the keyword results details page.
This tutorial will considered as a part of the "news_system" tutorial, and the search application will be included to the news system for more convenient for the reader...
    Requirements:
    - we will create 2 pages:
    1- search.php "the search form".
    2- results.php "the results page".
    - Note:
    * The search page will included with the entire news system script as an external file, don`t put anything else in this page except the search form, and it will included within the head section.

Masking? Rotsoscoping? I can think of a million ways to create separated layers or mattes and then duplicate the layer and invert the masks/ matte, but if you never have used that stuff before, you will hard-crash on concrete and not get very far, I'm afraid. It takes at least a bit of practice to produce a clean matte. As a palce to start you may get by suing the Rotobrush and see, if it produces clean enough edges, but if not, it's proably better to scrap the idea before eitehr ending up with a bad result or not meeting your deadline...

  • Modify Search Layout using Keyword Search

    Hi,
we are using untargeted search (keyword) and modified some search layouts. This works for the lookup window as expected (other fields displayed), but the search results are still shown with the default layout.
    Any Hints?
    BR
    Michael

Michael, you can only manage the search result layouts for "Targeted" search and not "Keyword" search.

  • Using keyword searchs to make albums

I used to be able to do a search on a keyword, select all those pictures and create an album. Now if you do a keyword search and select all the photos, the whole event that the photo is in gets selected and you end up with ALL photos in the new album, not just the keyworded ones. EX. I keyword 10 photos from 4 events (200 total pictures) with the keyword "child". I search keyword "child", the 10 photos come up, but when I select them all it takes all 200 pictures in the events and puts them in the new album.
    HELP!!

    darfox
How are you making the album?
I have keyworded pics in different events and then done a keyword search. When the pics are found I selected them and clicked on the ‘+’ lower left. From there I chose to create a new Album and ticked the box AT ‘Use Selected in new item’: result, just the pics found by the keyword search.
I then repeated the process by just selecting the pics and dragging them to the source pane: result: an album with only the found pics.

  • Searching attachment body using keywords

    Hi All,
I have a very complicated requirement in Mobile Sales. The customer wants to search in the body of an Activity Attachment using a Keyword. The customer has maintained tons of attachments and this really adds value to him if he can search for an activity by using attachment body text as parameter.
ANy suggestions how to implement this.
    Thanks,

If you have Adobe Acrobat (not Adobe Reader) the program can perform an OCR on the document you acquired.

  • How do you use Keywords?

I'm curious how you use Keywords. I started to go into my pictures today and add them. I went first to the first Event I had and looked for any pictures of my kids. I was going to make my Keywords pretty broad. If they were aged 0 - 5, then that was my Keyword. But, then I had a picture of a brother and a sister, where the brother was 8 and the sister was 4. What to do? Then I changed it from 0-5 to 0-10. I've tagged about 300 of them that way, but now I'm wondering if it's worth the time. I know I can also use multiple Keywords, but that just seems to be a lot of work.
For reference, I name all my pictures when I input them. I use the following format: name of person - event (if pertinent) - town - year, so that might come out as Chip - Halloween - Golden - '08. That way, I find it pretty easy to find whatever I might be looking for.
Do you use Keywords? If so, how?
    Thanks.
    Chip

The BEST system of keywording is the system you will actually execute. So your priority should be figuring out what you are willing and happy to do on a fairly regular basis.
Since it already sounds like your system is a hassle, I don't know that your keyword needs to reflect the age---you can easily search on KW: Kids and Date Range: (whatever the young years would be) after the fact, and save yourself trouble while tagging. Or set that up as a Smart Album, and then once you've done the "okay when the kid was 0-4 that would be the dates 1990-1994", you don't need to do it again.
Certainly, though, you should be open to multiple keywords on the same photo--that's the power of keywords, to categorize the same photo in multiple aspects.
I don't bother naming my photos, but unlike TD, I create a lot of smaller events and name them pretty carefully, similar to your photo names. I use keywords for recurring themes, like Me, Family, Friends, Rivers, Flowers, or places I visit multiple times. Things with a beginning and ending, I lean on the event name to track, eg "Christmas Eve, Christmas--Opening Gifts, Christmas--Dinner, Christmas--Hanging Out".
I find it very important to use the shortcuts, so that I can skim through 300 pix from a national park and just hit f to apply the Family keyword, m to apply the Me keyword, w for pictures of water, l for pictures of flowers, etc. (The keyword pane must be open to use the shortcuts)
I tend to set up a smart album based on a keyword about the same time I set up a keyword, so that the list of smart albums helps me remember what I am doing with keywords. Also, thinking in terms of which albums you want to be browsing helps figure out how you need to keyword the photos--when your relatives or friends come over, what do you want to show them?

  • How do I search for a keyword?

How do I do the equivalent in Lightroom of the keyword search that's in Bridge? LR Find appears to be finding IMAGES that contain a keyword when I specify "Keywords" in the text find, rather than finding the keyword...
What I'd like is to be able to see all the keywords that contain what I enter, NOT the images that contain that keyword - again just like it works in Bridge...

If you're talking about searching based on the content of the documents uploaded, you will definitely need to integrate with a search engine to do periodic indexing of your content. The two most common search engines used with WLP are Autonomy (a light version is included with WLP) and Apache Lucene (free, highly customizable solution).
You should find good docs and articles on dev2dev to get started with either one.

  • How to quickly reassign previously used keywords

    I'm using Adobe Bridge CS6.
My problem is that I have something like 3000 images, in several folders, to apply keywords to, and the keywords happen to be the names of the people appearing in those photos, and I cannot find an easy way to reapply existing keyword assignments. Let me explain:
Some photos will be a single person, others 2 or 3 in a shot, others maybe 6-8 people. And they appear in constantly changing configurations. For example, "John" may appear alone in photos 1-20, with "Peter" in photos 21-22, with "Sandy" and "Peter" in photos 23-30, "Peter" and "Sandy" alone without "John" in photos 31-70, and "John" by himself alone in photos 71-150, etc., with 500-1000 photos per folder. It gets really tedious when you have a group of 6-8 people that is seen occasionally or partially, interspersed with headshots of single individuals. While I have all of their names set up in a master keyword list, the master list itself has maybe 250 keywords in it, and it is painfully slow and tedious to either scroll up and down to the correct names, or to use the search box at the bottom of the keywords panel, each time the mix of persons in a photo changes. (The search is probably faster, but still slow.)
What I would love to have is a panel that showed ONLY the keywords (names) that I've used for the current folder's photos, which would let me apply them to new photos with either a single click (hallelujah!) or maybe drag-and-drop. This is because the currently used keyword list, if it existed, would be so much shorter than the master list, so that all the necessary keywords would always be in view and easily accessible.
What is maddenly irksome is that the currently assigned keywords appear almost within reach in the filter panel ... but alas, it is not possible to use that panel to assign those keywords to new photos.
I don't know if what I'm hoping to do is even possible in the current version. But maybe it is, or maybe someone here has some advice to make the process less frustrating.

What is maddenly irksome is that the currently assigned keywords appear almost within reach in the filter panel ... but alas, it is not possible to use that panel to assign those keywords to new photos.
You can export your current keyword list as back up and create or import a temporarily dedicated shorter keyword list.
But if you look at the metadata panel IPTC Core there is also the option to show the keywords applied to the image (if they don't show use the setting in Bridge Preferences Metadata Tab to select it to show)
Drag and drop is not possible but copy past is an option. Using collections you can select the files you want to apply the same keywords to, and when your search result is complete select the file that has all the correct keywords, copy the complete line of keywords, select all and paste the info in the same line to apply al keywords in one go to all selected files.
Is that about what you are looking for or am I completely misunderstanding your wish?

  • How to use keywords in a correct way for Acrobat Pro AND Spotlight

When I enter keywords in a PDF using CMD-D in Acrobat Professional I also want to find those keywords via OS X Spotlight. At the same time I to be able to use keywords when I enter keywords in PDFs using Preview.app.
What's the path to do this, and how do these three applications work together to provide a consistent search. I also need to know the details like do I enter keywords in Acrobat with komma or without, with a space before the komma or not etc.
The goal is to be able to have a constistant, compatible workflow for keywords/tags in PDFs using Acrobat, prevoew.app, and other applications; in order to manage large amounts of PDF files.

    Hello Joao,
Thank you for your answers. I hope I can ask some more of your time because it is not totally clear yet.
I tried your suggestion to change the stroke width. This has no effect, other than the stroke width, the curves stay filled. It would be nice to show this in a picture... And I just noticed that I had the arguments wrong in my example (been playing around with it too much), the null and green should be the other way round. But also this did not make any difference. Specifying the fill color with the same color as the background color of the map is a workaround though.
Adding the theme_name to the feature attributes is an option, but would that be possible with predefined themes? At the moment we have all the theme definitions in the database.
The most important question however is how do I draw a single feature, based on some condition. The only method I can find in the MapViewer api is drawLiveFeatures with no feature args which "Draws all the live features that are returned to this client from MapViewer". I must be overlooking something.
Thanks again very much for your help,
    Ida

  • How to use keyword hierarchy?

    Hiya,
In my Keywords HUD, I have created a hierarchical order of keywords, such as
    - Europe
    -- Ireland
    -- Germany
    - Prints
    -- A4
    -- 6x4
If I want to assign the keyword "Ireland" to a bunch of photos, I select all these photos and drag the keyword from the HUD to the photos.
What I am struggling with are 2 problems:
    - How do I browse interactively by keyword hierarchy? Can I select "Europe" as a keyword in order to see all photos being taken in Europe? Can I select "Gemany" afterwards in order to see the subset of photos being taken in Germany?
    - How do I create smart folders containing all photos being taken in Europe? If I take as a search criteria "IPTC > Keywords" and search for "Europe", I don't get any feedback, but if I search for "Ireland", I get all the photos being taken in Ireland.
Does Aperture ignore the upper levels (e.g. "Europe", "Prints") for all its features?
Is the hierarchy exclusively used for the presentation of keywords in the Keywords HUD?
Thanks in advance for any feedback,
    Stephan

Maybe I'm missing something, as I typically ask questions, not answer them, but doesn't this work for you?
Either type Europe into the quick search section of the Search Panel or toggle open the "text" criteria and enter it there.
That should find the images by the upper level keywords.
You can narrow the search by selecting match "all" and adding more text items for upper level keywords, or by selecting lower level keywords from the keywords criteria section.
The manual states that you can quick search multiple text items by separating them by commas, but that didn't seem to work for me. Aperture seems to treat upper level keywords as text, and they can be searched as such.
Once the search is completed, click the create smart album, and you should have what you are looking for, I hope.
    Good Luck!

  • Smart album using keyword not working

I'm creating smart albums using keywords. Today I created two smart albums tagging select photos with key words. One album has worked correctly, the other album is empty, showing only black background. I've confirmed photos are tagged with the one key word, I've confirmed the key word exists in the list. I can't figure out why the smart album is not generating.

Try going to the Q tab and get rid of all the search field by clicking the circle at the right hand side, leaving only the Keywords field, then ensure the rating field is at unrated or better as this field cannot be removed. Allan

  • Search text for keywords - innodb table

I have a longtext column in a table that I need to search
through for keywords. The table is in innodb format. I dont want to
change it to myisam because I can't afford to have it lock at the
table level... I prefer the row level of innodb.
How can I build a search around this? It would be nice to
have all words, any words, and exact phrase as an option, as seen
in tom mucks extension (which i own)... however, this recordset has
so many arrays, it's completely hand coded and they extension isn't
suppose to work with anything but default recordsets.
Any suggestions? How can I have a more comprehensive search
    using a innodb table?

tom mucks extension lets you use keywords 3 ways... all
words, any words, and exact phrase.

  • Can I use keywords in slideshow?

I am trying to figure out a good way to organize my photos. Some are slides and things I have scanned in, so I use "description" to put a code that lets me know where to find the photo if I need to look it up. I use "title" for what the photo is about (ex-6th birthday party), and use the "date" & "places" to keep those items. I use the "keyword" to keep who is in the photo, and would like to be able to display that on the photos in a slideshow...any way?
If you have any better organizational ideas, I'm open to hearing about them, but I have over 23,000 to fix!
    Thanks so much!

I use the "keyword" to keep who is in the photo, and would like to be able to display that on the photos in a slideshow...any way?
No there isn’t I’m afraid. You can show titles, descriptions, titles and description, dates and places but not keywords. You might be best to use the Description box for the names.
so I use "description" to put a code that lets me know where to find the photo if I need to look it up.
Code? Have a look at the possibilities for creating a Smart Album. You can search on all of those and compounds of those too.
My organisation is based heavily around keywords:
I use Events simply as big buckets of Photos: Spring 08, July - Nov 06 are typical Events in my Library. I use keywords and Smart Albums exensively. I title the pics broadly.
    I keyword on a
    Who
    What
Where basis (The When is in the photos's Exif metadata). I also rate the pics on a 1 - 5 star basis.
Using this system I can find pretty much find any pic in my 20k library in a couple of seconds.
So, for example, I have a batch of pics titled 'Seattle 08' and a typical keywording might include: John, Anne, Landscape, mountain, trees, snow. With a rating included it's so very easy to find the best pics we took at Mount Rainier.
    File -> New Smart Album
    set it to 'All"
    title contains Seattle
    keyword is mountain
    keyword is snow
    rating is 5 stars
Or, want a chronological album of John from birth to today?
    New Smart Album
    Keyword is John
Set the View options to Sort By Date Ascending
    Want only the best pics?
add Rating is greater than 4 stars
The best thing about this system is that it's dynamic. If I add 50 more pics of John to the Library tomorrow, as I keyword and rate them they are added to the Smart Album.
Keywording takes time to set up, there's no doubt about it. I use Keyword Manager as it's much more powerful than the inbuilt system, and adds the possibility of nested keywords. So, for instance, if I add John to a photo it also adds 'Family'. Now I can add many keywords to a pic quickly.
In the end, organisation is about finding the pics. The point is to make locating that pic or batch of pics findable fast. This system works for me.
    Regards
    TD
