Hi I have a bt tv subscription (non infinity non sports). My brother in law is moving house and has an out of contract black btv box. Can I use this as a cheap way to get multiroom or is it a non starter?

No. Just one box per broadband. People have tried to run more than one at the same time but the boxes start to conflict with each other.

Well you must have made a mistake somewhere. The last instruction of step four reads:
When you've found your iTunes library folder, drag that folder to your external hard drive. This will begin the iTunes backup. The amount of time the backup will take depends on the size of your library. When the transfer is done, your backup is complete and your external hard drive can be disconnected.
Normally dragging content from to a new location on a different drive will result in a copy action which is what you were supposed to do. At a guess you somehow managed to move the iTunes folder. Then when you started iTunes it created a new blank library for you assuming it had just been installed rather that raising a warning.
Close iTunes. Rename the iTunes folder on the internal drive as iTunes (Empty) then copy the iTunes folder from the external back into the User's Music folder. Start iTunes. All should be well.
When you've made sure it all works please read my User Tip and use that method to backup in future. Since you already have a folder with the backup in place you can skip the "Make New" operation in the fourth step and simply choose the external folder.

BT Second Box Question.

Hi I have BT Infinity 2 also BT TV BT sent me a BT Youview + Box also I brought a mini youview box so that I could watch BT Sport in my Bedroom as well as in my front room.
Can someone tell me what I have to do to get BT sport running on both boxes but not at the same time. As I cant be in two rooms at the same time. Is there something else I have to get from BT to acheive this. Thanks for any help given on this topic.

On the box that isn't set up for BT TV go into the BT Player app. You should after a short period get a purple 'error' screen up explaining that you have too many Youview boxes attached to your line. But at the bottom there is a reset option that allows you to reset your account to move your services from your first box to this second box. Select the option and shortly afterwards you will be able to watch BT TV on the second box (but it will no longer work on the first).
It's a right faff of course moving the service between boxes like this, but the only way around it is to pay BT £5 a month for an extra box subscription.

My brother has a spare BT Vision box which I can have and I was wondering if it is possible to have two boxes running? My plan is to have only one connected to the hub at any one time...
EDIT- I have had a quick search around the forums and seen that similar questions have been asked so thought I would give you more info. We only use BT Vision for the on-demand features as we also have Sky which we use for live TV/recording so will not encounter the same problems people have with recording on two boxes. Is there anything else I should be aware of?

Just make sure before you connect and boot up your second box, your first box is disconnected from the hub.
I've never tried it, but what you propose should work.

Second box - menu lags and just rebooted

Sick of this now. Soon as our remortgage is fixed I'm switching to sky.
Had this second box for a few months. Takes forever to respond to remote and now it just rebooted while watching an on demand film. Disruptive annoying piece of absolute junk, BT I hope people leaves you in droves and tells you where to shove this so called service.

Well, I am thrilled to report that I've made the call - 30 days' notice given and I'm free on 27 June! MSE website is currently dishing out 50% off codes for Sky packages, to be used between Fri and Tuesday (30/5 - 3/6) - worth checking out folks. I doubt any company is perfect but my family have never had all these problems with their Sky box. I'm off!

Cannot pair a second remote to a second box

Just upgraded to xi platform and easily paired my X1 dvr but cannot pair a second remote to another box in another room. After I hold the setup button till the light turns green then press the infinity button the TV goes to the help menus not the code box

The remotes don't pair to the RNG 150 boxes that you have. You would need an XR8 adapter for each. If you want some, go to the link and leave a message

BT Vision + YouView getting a second box free/disc...

Hi I just received an email from BT regarding YouView. I can't wait to get the product but was wondreing will BT be offering the abilty to receive more than on set box discounted. As I want to put another box in another room on Wifi using the Humax dongle. I was also wondering if I could set the box up so films and stuff can't be bought on my account but films and stuff can still be ordered using a credit card say?

I wouldn't think for a minute you'll be able to get one discounted box. I think BT player will work in the same way as Vision. Some included in a subscription and some stuff you pay for. As for other content providers, dunno.

I downloaded the new itunes and now it won't run, everytimei try to open it a box pops up saying icudt40_dat/ icudt40.dll, then a second box says Error 7 (windows error 127) i've purchased $130 worth of programs that didn't fix this

I have purchased numerous programs that say they'll fix this registry problem but they haven't, From my research, quite a few people are having problems with this, i have installed and uninstalled itunes 6 times trying to figure this out and i'm out of options please help.

£35 charge for install of second youview box

Hi Why do I have to pay £35 for someone to install my second Youview box when I already have it installed with cat6 cable and an RF feed works fine

It was the £35 install charge for a second box that put me off getting multi room back at the start of February when I was renewing my contracts.
I looked into it before phoning them to renew all my contracts and never bothered asking about multi room when I was renewing.
I now have to Youview boxes the older BT Youview + box that BT gave me just over 14 months ago and the new BT G4 + box that I bought myself from Currys just over 5 weeks ago and im now using the G4 box for all the BT TV services that I have.

Conditional for a text input box NOT being null? Sorry for asking so many questions!

Okay, here's the situation. I'm creating a simulation of a form on which there are several text input boxes, 7 of which are mandatory fields. I know I can use a conditional to check whether the box has nothing in it by creating a null variable with no value and doing "if [box variable] is equal to [null variable] then", but the problem is that the validation captions I need to show need to be shown in order, that is to say that the caption for entering a value for the first box will always be shown if that box is null regardless of the contents of other boxes, the second will be shown if that one is null and the first one isn't etc.
When I was investigating this I noticed a post by Lilybiri saying that comparison with a null variable doesn't work for "not equal to" so I'm having a hard time figuring out how to show the captions based on priority. For example, to show the second caption I need to not only check whether the second box variable is null, but also whether the first one isn't.
It gets pretty crazy further along the line where I get to the 7th mandatory field and need to check whether the first, second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth boxes are NOT null and whether the 7th one IS. Help!
I did come up with one potential solution to this prior to posting: if I set a different advanced action for each input box losing focus which checks whether the variable is null and if so sets a "flag" variable to 0, and in the else set it to 1, I imagine I can then replace the "not equal to" with a check to that flag variable being equal to 1 (which means there is text in the box). I think this will work but I thought I'd check to see if there's an easier way first.

No it DOESN'T require everything to be on one slide. It just has to LOOK as if that's what it is.
I would suggest that it doesn't really matter how many Captivate slides are involved in the final solution, as long as it works the same way (or as close as possible) to the original software that you are simulating. Your users don't frankly know or care how you achieved the simulation. I guarantee they won't be thinking of you or Captivate.
In my experience, you can make creating elearning a lot more difficult than it needs to be in Captivate by trying to rebuild the app, rather than just simulating how it works. For example, thinking that if everything happened on one web page or screen in the app then it must also happen on a single slide in Captivate. The fact of the matter is IT DOESN'T need to work this way. And in some cases it might even be impossible to reproduce in Captivate this way.
So the quickest path to a solution is often to use multiple slides, which has the advantage of allowing you to "fix" certain things on screen (e.g. the contents of fields already visited) by using READ ONLY variable output in transparent captions, focusing only on one element of the interface that the user can interact with on that slide. It doesn't necessarily prevent you from moving back and forth between elements, just as you can in the original app. But it is far easier to create and maintain.
I'm not saying you wouldn't be able to pull this off on one slide in Captivate, but it is going to require a LOT of variables and Advanced Actions to build and debug. So the term Rapid Elearning becomes something of a misnomer if it takes you a long time to complete one slide.

Multiple click boxes in the same page

I'm trying to include 4 click boxes in the same page in Captivate 5. The idea is when user clicks on each box, the content reveals and stays on the screen. The first click box works fine. But when click the second box, the content shows only for less than a second and then quickly moves to the next screen, and of course, there is no chance to even get to the 3rd and the 4th one. Can anyone help me? Thanks!

Does this mean that the user has to click the click boxes in the order that you stagger the pauses? For example, if I'm showing a picture and instructing the user to click on any area to get more information, they could really click on any area first - however will that click box pop up if that click area was not the "first" pause in my timeline?
Also, how do I get the "success" caption text to stay on the page? I don't want it to fade so that the user can see all of the info. once they've clicked each box. I've checked to make sure that the "fade out" option is off, and I'm assuming I can't have the click boxes "display for the rest of the slide" since that would ruin the pause increments.

I have a box that will not go away, it says, "To open JavaApplication, you need to install a Java SE 6 runtime. Would you like to check for and install one? If i push not now, it keeps popping up, if I push install, it says it's not available, help.

I have a dialogue box that will not go away and it seems to have started when I upgraded to Mt. Lion. the box says, "To open JavaApplication, you need to install a Java 6 SE runtime. Finally there are two boxes to click. One says not now. If I click on that the box goes away for 2 to 3 seconds and then pops back up and WILL NOT go away. If I click on the second box, Install, it says The software is currently unavailable. To install a Java SE 6 runtime later, open Java Application again.
My confusion here is that I have no idea what the java application is, When I click "okay" on that box, the original box pops us again and WILL NOT go away. CGoing to the apple lega web site was no help. My solution so far has been to drag the dialogue box as far to the lower right and out of the way as far as I can. Help.

Does this happen immediately after you log in? If so, one of your login items is probably causing it.

How do I create an input box with a cancel button that will end a loop in my script?

I have been working on a script for my client and I am having trouble getting it to work properly. I stole most of the code from the PowerShell Tip of the Week "Creating a Custom Input Box". I also took someone's code for the Show-MessageBox function.
I have slightly modified the original code with two parameters and an additional text box. The first field is for an e-mail address and the second is for an employee number.
I need to know how I can get a Do Until loop to recognize when the cancel button is pushed and break the loop and effectively end the script. The work happens at the end but perhaps I need something added/modified in the InputBox function.
I want the script to check to see if anything has been entered in the second text box. If empty it displays a message and calls the InputBox function again. Then if there is something I use elseif to check to see if it matches my RegEx (digits only). If
it doesn't match it will loop and call the InputBox function again.
This all works fine. The problem I am having is that I cannot cancel out of the form. I'd like the loop to continue until the second box matches my RegEx or Cancel is clicked. Clicking cancel doesn't break the loop. I need to know how I can stop the loop
when cancel is pressed. I've seen Stack "Overflow: PowerShell Cancel Button Stop Script" but I don't think this will work in a loop.
Any help would be awesome. As a note, I DO NOT want to use the VB Interaction stuff.

ITunes opens and within seconds states it has to close. I've uninstalled

iTunes will open, but within seconds states it 'Has to close'. Occasionally, I'll see a notice for an update and quickly click to 'Download update?', but when I click on 'Download', a new page opens with 'Thanx for updating', except it hasn't downloaded the update. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes several times, but that hasn't helped. My phone is a 5S and it won't sync to iTunes either.

Try working through TS1717: iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8: Fix unexpected quits or launch issues to start with.
Otherwise, for general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

Two column text box with header

I have a text box that is set to flow as two columns. The beginning of the text box has a header then a list of bulleted items. My problem is that when the text flows to the second column, it is set at the top (in-line with the header). What I would like is to do something like set a top margin just for the second column so it will line up with the body text from the first column. Is there an easy way to do this or should I just use two text boxes and position the second box where I want it?

Simplest is to use two text boxes.
Dave Saunders has a script (http://pdsassoc.com/index.php?Nav=downs&Ban=Downloads&Info=downloads.html) that can do it with one text box by putting your head in a one-column table that intrudes into the second column. I've never used his script, and I see his website says CS and CS2, so I'm not sure if it would work with your version.
You could probably achieve what you want (because I see you don't actually need the head to straddle, just the texts to top align with each other) by forcing a huge leading on one character in a frame that's set to First Baseline Offset by Leading.
