Second password¿?¿?

Hi!
I'm becoming CRAZY! I connected my BB to the computer to install the Desktop Manager and since that moment it asks me to enter a second password. When I set it up, I introduced the same code twice (pin and password) in order to not to forget them, but it doesn’t work!!! I’ve tried 8/10 options. What can I do? Help!!!
Thanx!

Hello,
Second password? As in, the PC prompts you for two separate passwords? Or is it the same password, simply entered wrongly the first time?
Regardless, you have no choices...you must enter the password correctly before the 10th attempt. If you fail, your BB will be wiped clean of all your data. There is no backdoor password to bypass this. The only way to prevent it is to enter the proper password.
If you know how to enter your password on the device keyboard, then untether and do that on the device keyboard -- that will reset the password. Pay close attention to the actual characters that are entered -- I suspect that, as so often happens, the keys you are pressing are not sending the characters you think...CAPS, ALT, or some other key modifier is either in place or not in place, depending on it's state when you actually created the password.
Good luck!

  • Forum refused my second password

I have finally managed to register for the forum.  Each time I tried I stalled at the step where I typed the second copy of my chosen password. No matter what I typed in there I saw a warning highlighted in pink saying that the two passwords did not match.  I tried with both Firefox and with IE8.  In the end, over the weekend, I simply gave up - thinking it might a temporary glitch in your software.
Today I had the same symptoms.  Eventually I decided to IGNORE the warning and continue to complete the whole registration form. Hey Presto - I was able to register.
Is this a deliberate filter to discourage subscribers to the forum?
Then, when I received the Welcome email and clicked on the link I was welcomed to the forum but the New Message and REPLY links were disabled.  I eventually logged out AND closed the tabs, then tried again.
    Not impressed, really.

  • Router Asks For a Second Password

I have a Wireless-G Broadband Router WRK54G and when I try to change the Port Range Forwarding definitions it asks for a user and password. I tried the same password to enter the router page, defaul and blank user and password. Reseting the router does not remove the asking of the password.
    Any Ideas please?

Don't have a definate fix for this.only guess would be to reset the router and check or then upgrade to the latest firmware available.

  • How to connect Apple TV to wireless network needing two passwords?

The device will connect initially just fine, and I type in the first password and it connects. The issue with the network is that after typing in the initial password you need to open a web browser to type in a second password, kind of like some hotels require you to do. I read somewhere that you can call the internet provider and have them add your MAC/wifi address for your Apple TV straight into the network for connection, so my apartment manager called the internet provider to do so, but claims they won't do such a thing.
Anyone have a different solution? Connection through a computer or external device? I don't have a clue what else could be possible since my computer/phone can see my Apple TV but the Apple TV can't see other devices because it's not actually connected to the internet. I'm out of options!
Help is much appreciated, thank you!!!

  • Apple ID password issue

    Hi everyone,
Strange issue since couple of days. I have been using my apple ID for years without a single problem. last monday, suddendly on all my apple devices (iphone, ipad, imac), the password was not recognised any longer in any of the apps (icloud, facetime, itunes, imessage,....). I thought it was a server problem but then after few hours, I decided to reset the password, and then it worked again....for 24 hours. same problem suddendly reappeared. It is my second password reset in a week which I have to do for unknown reasons. I am pretty sure of the password I am entering....
Anybody had the same issue? Just to clarify that I am only using one Apple ID for all my devices.
    Thanks!

  • Screen Sharing does not accept my password anymore

    Hi
I have a headless Mac Mini Server running Snow Leopard Server 10.6.8 and a MacBook Pro  running Snow Leopard 10.6.8. I detected this morning, that I'm not able to connect from the MacBook Pro to my Mac Mini over Screen Sharing. All other services, mail server, iCal server, Address Book server, file sharing over SMB or AFP even connecting over VNC do work.
    - I select the Mac Mini symbol in Finder
    - in column view, I select Share Screen...
    - in the connection dialog, I add the password (username is already predefined)
    - on connect, I get: Authentication failed to "servername". Please verify you have entered the correct name and password.
I use the same username and password with Server Admin, or logging in locally over VNC so I know this is correct.I'm sure I did not change any settings concerning screen sharing (I did some experiments with WebDAV recently)
I'm not sure, when I used Screen Sharing the last time, is there a log on the server for this? Could be, the problem was introduced with 10.6.8, but I'm not sure. From the logs I see, Screen Sharing did work on July, 16th. This would narrow it down to: iTunes 10.4 (not likely), Migration Assistant Update for Mac OS X SL 1.0, and Remote Desktop Client Update 3.5.1.
On the server, I found the following log entries: Jul 21 20:24:33 servername AppleVNCServer[1362]: no such user: user@LKDC:SHA1.xxxxxx: 2
    Any help on this problem?

Sorry if that didn't come out right. I should have taken the time to get the correct labels off of the user preferences dialogue and it would have made more sense.
When you create a new user, there are two fields: one for "Full Name" (typically the user's actual name) and another for "Account name" (this usually a more Unix-like user-id). On my system, typing "John Doe" into the Full Name box automatically populates "johndoe" into the Account Name box. I would guess the majority of Mac users will leave that default in there, type in a password and hint and complete creating the account.
Interestingly, you cannot view the Account name in the user preferences dialogue once the account is created. However, the Account name is used as the name of your Home folder.
In the past, I've used that Account name when connecting to shares in finder. I just verified that when you open finder and click "Connect As" and choose "Registered User," the authentication prompt in SL automatically has the Account name in the user field. Once connected in finder, all I had to do is click Screen Sharing and it would just open up. Presumably since I had already authenticated via finder. After the last updates, I started getting a password prompt only when attempting to start screen sharing. Finder still worked the same as before, and I was able to view all my folders. Using the Full Name instead of the Account name got me through the second password prompt and opened the screen sharing session.
I tried authenticating the finder with the Full Name instead, and still got the second authentication prompt when launching screen sharing. Clearly Apple has made a change to screen sharing that no longer passes through your finder authentication.
If you've somehow already been using the Full Name, and not the Account name, to authenticate in finder, this fix doesn't help you.
What I meant by "feeling stupid" is going to great lengths to step through a lot of troublesome reboots and whatnot, only to discover that the problem is an arcane, and apparently pointless change with which user name on the account authenticates for two apparently related features (you do go through finder to get to screen sharing!). I certainly didn't mean you were stupid. I wouldn't blame you for having to figure out something Apple changed up after years for no apparent reason. I wasn't real happy about it either after wasting an hour or so figuring it out. My poor choice of words was really meant in the spirit of that "d'oh!" moment when you find the trivial 5 second fix after spending that hour (or days) doing lots of potentially risky stuff to no avail.

  • Z30 Stuck in wrong password mode

My beautiful Z30 is about a month old and a day ago it started up saying I've had five failed attempts to enter the password (which was not true). Whatever I enter then, and however many times, including "blackberry" when prompted, I remain on five failed attempts. Is there any way to get out of this infinite loop?!  Is there any explanation? Is there any action less drastic than finding how to take out the battery and taking it out? (assuming that would work!) Does BlackBerry have any help desk or help email system? So annoying - I can sill receive calls and see notifications of emails and texts and calendar alerts, but I can access nothing.... I love the Z30 - don't let me be disappointed!

I'm begining to get a feeling that my Z30 lives with two passwords (though, as far as I'm aware, it knows about only one of my many e-addresses, while of course it collects all their emails). Is this the case? 1    One password is for getting working with the machine after switch-on or wake-up from sleep - this is (for me anyway) a four-digit numeric password which offers the numeric keypad. Sometimes Z30 suddenly says I have my last chance to type this correctly, though it hasn't been typed incorrectly - and the warning is a 15-minute lock-out, after which all is fine again. Anyway, there's an option at that point to press Cancel ... and the machine goes on working happily without the 15-minute lockout. (I hope that's clear!) 2    The second password offers an alphanumeric keyboard and this is the one that threatens complete re-setting to factory defaults. I believe this is an eight-character minimum password, in my case, but am not sure. Possibly this is the background to the problem which Cory mentions? [Until a couple of weeks ago my BB was a Curve. Every so often, usually first thing in the morning, it would suddenly ask in tiny print for a password and get angry if this wasn't entered within about three seconds. I *think* Z30 is better in this regard (as it is in almost all others)!] Good luck, Cory - and everyone.

  • 2nd password on digital signature file

I am deploying Acrobat Standard 9 in a regulated environment (21 CFR Part 11) and need to have the digital signature file require a second password.  While I know this is possible it does not seem to be a feature activated upon a default install.  How do I turn on this feature?

    Hi Madam Curie,
Part of the problem is the phraseology is incorrect so I'll start with some basic so we are all speaking the same language.
One thing to realize is you can digitally sign any piece of electronic data just like you can use you pen to sign any physical object such as a piece of paper, some one's cast, a wall, or you photo for your fans. In the electronic world you can sign your e-mail, your Word document, or as far as I'm concerned (realizing that I'm biased ) the most important thin, a PDF file.
A digital ID in the electronic world is analogous to a pen in the physical world. It is what you use to create a digital signature. A digital ID is comprised of three pieces; a public key, a corresponding private key, and a block of text with some identifying information. When the digital IS is initially created the public-key is signed with a private key. If the public key is signed with it's corresponding private key the digital ID is know as a "self-signed" digital ID. If it is signed by a different private key, the owner of that key becomes the issuer of the digital ID that it signs.
A digital signature in the  electronic world is analogous to a wet ink signature. You use a digital ID to create a digital signature.
The next thing to realize is a digital signature is cryptographic blob of data and is not something one would normally see. If you are geeky enough you can decode one and view it in a special purpose viewer, but for the most part nobody ever sees the signature contents.
When you do sign a PDF file you can either create a visible signature or an invisible signature. In the case of the later, all you do is write the digitally signed blob of data into the PDF file and don't bother creating any visual representation. It's the visual signature that throws most people for a loop, but the key thing to understand is the visual appearance you see in the signature field (which is nothing more than a special purpose text field) is NOT the signature, it is just a representation of the actual signature which you never see.
The visual appearance is comprised of three things, a background (which by default is the PDF trefoil logo) and a foreground that is divided into two halves, text and a graphic.
Acrobat (and when I say Acrobat I really mean both Acrobat and Reader) will let you create a digital signature with any digital ID that you have that is within it validity period, and includes digital signature as a key usage. The digital ID can be saved in several locations that Acrobat has access to. One is file on disk. The file would have the .p12 or .pfx file extension and you would have to add the file to Acrobat using the Security Setting dialog. Another place the digital ID can reside is the Windows Certificate Store of the Mac Keychain. If you've installed the digital ID into one of the OS based storage locations Acrobat will find it without you having to do anything else. Digital IDs can also reside on hardware devices such as a token (they look like a flash drive) or a smart card (they look like a credit card with a gold chip).
So, if you have a digital ID, but Acrobat doesn't know about it need to search you computer for a *.p12 or *.pfx, find out where the file is, than use the Add ID function in the Security Settings dialog to attache the file.
Finally, after you find and attache the file you can modify the Password Timeout to require that a password is always required. Or, if you want to import the file into the Windows Certificate Store you can use the High Assurance option to require a password otherwise Windows will just assume that if you can log in to your desktop then that's good enough.

  • How to enter permissions password via Reader

    Hi,
I protected my pdf in LiveCycle Designer (File -> Form Properties -> PDF Security) , so that now to open the document a password is needed (document password) and also to print it (permission password).
When I try to open the document using the free Reader, the first password is asked to me, so I'm able to open it. But I can't print it because of the second level of protection: I can't press the related button. The problem is that I know the second password, is there a way to enter it in the Reader so that I can finally print the file via reader?
    Thanks in advance
    Giuseppe

    Hi,
Password protected files cannot currently be previewed directly from within files.Acrobat.com. You will need to download them first.
However, you can use Adobe Reader XI on your mobile device or desktop, or Adobe Acrobat XI on the desktop to access and open your password protected files.
    On a mobile device
Open Adobe Reader XI (if you have it installed)
From the left panel select 'Acrobat.com'
Log in with your Adobe ID and password
A list of your files that are stored on files.acobat.com will be listed
Select the PDF and enter password
    On the desktop
Launch Adobe Reader XI or Adobe Reader XI
From the File menu select Open
From the Open dialog select the drop down 'Open from Online Account'
    Select 'Acrobat.com'
You will be prompted to sign in with your Adobe ID
Once signed in you can access your PDFs stored in files.acobat.com
Select the PDF and enter password
    Hope this helps,
    Laura

  • Mail constantly asks for password

I have 3 email accounts setup in Mail. 1 is a POP email. The other 2 are IMAP.
For some strange reason from the moment I open Mail, 1 of the IMAPs prompts me for my password. I enter it. Emmediately, it asks for my password again, and then the prompt disappears and re-appears every 30-60 seconds.
I tried deleting this account & re-adding it, but I keep getting this same result. I checked that both IMAP accounts have the exact same settings (they are both "@rogers.com" accounts). I made sure that my accounts are all set to check for new mail every 15 minutes.
Open Mail, password prompt. Enter password, password promt. It goes away for 30-60 seconds, password prompt. This is getting annoying.
I can log in to that mail account via web, but it's so much easier using Mail for all of them together at once.
    Anyone else encounter this issue?
Anyone know how to fix this?
    X

This happens to me too (every two months over the past year). And many other readers as I can see.
It has nothing with the operator as I am using an IMAP account in Austria.
I have not been able to find a clear solution to this proplem in the many threads that are out there:
    - Verify and repar keychains -> does not solve it
    - Delete passwords from keychain -> does not solve it
    - Entering the password in the mail dialogue box and NOT selecting the box to save the pwd in the keychain does not give access to the mail account either.
Have you been able to find a solution?

  • ISO: a way to password protect a volume or drive

Is there any EASY way to password protect a volume or drive either via the OS or by some utility? I'd like to have one drive with my sensitive docs that's password protected that I could carry with me and use on multiple systems. I see various encryption apps that involve elaborate schemes for protecting data. I'm looking for a simple Access/No-Access solution.
Ideally I'd like it so when I boot up or when I plug in my "protected drive" I'd be asked for a password. If I, or whomever is trying to access the drive, declines or puts in the wrong password the volume simply would not mount or better still, mount but be inaccessible until the password is entered.
With so much security built in to OSX seems like there must be a way to do this.
    Thanks!

You entered your password when you logged in; when you authenticated yourself. Unix has never done a second password; you authenticated yourself at the front door. You can certainly set up the file protections to keep other users out.
As for password-protecting a specific object, that's -- as others have stated -- an add-on. Or you use the built-in FileVault stuff, or external hardware.
There are current-generation drives that have password protection mechanisms or similar authentication -- USB keydisks and hard disks. Or you can use a commodity drive and the built-in FileVault. This akin to what you remember with the SyQuest drive.
Or consider products such as the following:
    http://www.pgp.com/products/wholediskencryption/tech_specs.html
    http://www.usbgear.com/USB-Encryption.html
Or what some of us do. Unplug the disk containing the data, and lock it up somewhere safe. If a desk drawer isn't sufficient, there are also physical disk enclosures with physical locks available on the market.
Realize that various of these encryption products aren't worth as much as the proverbial warm bucket of spit; various of these products either use colossally weak encryption, or have mis-implemented encryption. It would not surprise me to learn that some even have back-doors.

  • Systemd and LUKS password decryption on boot

    Hello!
Today I changed over to systemd with my Arch Linux desktop PC. All went fine, but there is one problem where I can't find a solution for. I have two LUKS-encrypted devices in my system, where the password should be asked for on boot. This works, also with systemd, but on my screen, the prompting text first appears, then systemd outputs some other status messages and then seems to wait for the password. This often yields in problems entering the password because I'm not sure where to enter it now. This is how my screen looks like. I marked the positions with the prompt and the associated passwords. As you see, typing the second password yields in an error, but I'm sure I did enter the correct one.

I hate to bump this for a non-solution-providing post, but I've been starting a truecrypt mounting service manually for a long time as I've not figured out how to do it at boot. Would you be kind enough to post your .service file?
    Mine is currently:
    ExecStart=/bin/sh -c '/usr/bin/truecrypt -t --protect-hidden=no -k "" --filesystem=none --slot=1 -p `systemd-ask-password "Enter password for truecrypt volume: "` /dev/sda4'
This doesn't seem to work at boot and the systemd-ask-password bit gets ignored during the boot process. I'd love to get this solved to save typing it manually time I boot.
    Thanks!
