Secured JDBC call from PI

Hi,
Please let me know the possibilities of secured JDBC call from PI. In JDBC adapter configuration, is it possible to achieve secured connection to Database server?
I saw few similar threads in Forums but did not get much information.
Thanks,
Geetha

?Please let me know the possibilities of secured JDBC call from PI. In JDBC adapter configuration, is it possible to achieve secured connection to Database server?
Yes, it is absolutely possible to secure the jdbc connection to database server.  You might have to do few things...
Please follow this link
http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/XI/EncryptioninscenariosinvolvingJDBCAdapterwithOracleDatabase
You can encrypt  all the connection parameters including user name and password  between jdbc adapter and database server.  Use advance tab and do the recommended changes given in the above link.Similarly on the database server you have to do the same. You might have to take help from dba to set the similar settings on the database level too.

  • Secured JDBC call (receiver adapter) from PI

    Hello experts, I was digging through SAP documentation but could not find any information about the possibility of secured JDBC calls from PI. Is it possible to configure the JDBC receiver adapter in a way that it does a secure (encrypted) connection to a database server?

    Hi Sanjay,
    For configuring encryption in the JDBC Communication Channle you can refer to the followimg Wiki Content:
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/wiki?path=/display/java/handlingDATETypecolumnforJPAEntityforuseWebServices
    Additionally, for Oracle Database, the following link talks about the Encryption Parameters that are set:
    http://javasight.wordpress.com/2008/08/29/network-data-encryption-and-integrity-for-thin-jdbc-clients
    and SAP Note: 1078420 will guide how to set these parameters in the JDBC communication channel.

  • Sync JDBC call from ParForEach block in BPM (XI 3.0)

    Has anyone tried the following scenario:
    My BPM flow starts with a single message that I split using a message map into a list of messages to be sent synchronously to an Oracle stored procedure via the JDBC adapter.  After the mapping step, the flow goes into a ParForEach block that executes the sync Send step to the JDBC adapter, and then has a Container Action that collects the responses.
    My problem is that BPM seems to not like executing a synchronous send from inside a block.  The first execution of the send step will produce an error in the BPM flow.  The adapter framework, however, shows that the JDBC call executed normally and that the response message was sent back to the integration server.  There is no error indicated in SXMB_MONI, which inidicates to me that the response message was delivered successfully business server (the BPM flow).
    If anyone could shed any light or share any experience, it would be greatly appreciated.
    Chris

    Hi Chris,
    I am facing same situation how you configured BLOCK step for Sync response.Please let me know the flow how you configured.

We want that weservice call to be secured i.e. to use https and not http. Anybody have any idea in doing this. The url in siebel-data-adapter file has to be https and not http.There are two parts to solving this problem.
    Part 1: ( setting up the Siebel Inbound web service so it runs through HTTPS. You should consult the Siebel documentation for this and it will require running HTTPS with a certificate through something like apache or IIS (for windows).
    Part 2: Once you have the inbound web services running under HTTPS, you can set the URL in the siebel-data-adapter properties to point to the HTTPS service, however, when you make a call from Web Determinations to Siebel. It will probably fail with a an exception. This will probably happen if you have used an self-signed or untrusted certificate.
    The second part of this problem is setting up the java run-time environment to accept the certificate that the HTTPS service is using (set up under part 1). There are several different ways of doing this, but I found the following the easiest.
    1. get the public part of the certificate.
    2. create a keystore/truststore and add that certificate (or add to existing keystore).
    3. point the jvm to that truststore , You do this through setting java system properties.
    Example Java properties
    In the example below, I have put the public certificate into a keystore called "siebel_wd_keystore" and I want to point my apache-tomcat to use that as a trust store. The system properties that need to be set are as follows.
    -Djavax.net.ssl.trustStore="C:\trust_store\siebel_wd_keystore"
    -Djavax.net.ssl.trustStorePassword=siebel Because this is tricky there is a very useful system property that you can set, that will give you lots of debugging information about SSL. If its not working, setting this property give you a lot more information in your logs.
    -Djavax.net.debug=sslIf the setting above doesnt seem to give you more information, thats probably a sign that you aren't setting the system properties correctly for your application server.

  • Securing Procedure Called from URL

    Hello all,
    I've read-up on creating procedures that can be called directly via a URL (ie. http://localhost:8080/apex/myschema.helloworld) by granting execute to anonymous and adding "MYSCHEMA.HELLOWORLD" to wwv_flow_epg_include_mod_local. I have a test procedure running.
    My question is, does anyone have any suggestions on how one might do this securely? Specifically I'm thinking I'd like to use one of these procedures to generate an XML stream of location information into a Google Map on one of my pages. As long as a user is in the app, I'm good because I know the user logged-in to get there. My concern is that some smart guy would get hold of the URL, pop it in the address bar and now has all the location data which may be sensitive.
    Couple things I tried:
    - granting execute to just apex_public_user incorrectly thinking that's what an ApEx application runs as (I forgot it runs as anonymous which is the same as someone who isn't logged in at all)
    - checking the value of v('APP_SESSION') inside the procedure, thinking if there's a session then the user must have logged-in - but it comes back null whether called from inside or outside the application. I suspect that when calling the procedure via a URL even from inside the app (like thru an iframe in an HTML region), it must kick off a new session.
    Any thoughts or suggestions, even something other than using a direct procedure call at all? My main priority is doing this securely.

    Hi,
    I have had similar requirements. I'm not sure I've solved it properly yet, but here's the sort of thing I did:
    1 - I updated the procedure to receive a parameter - this will be the ID of the user
    2 - In my database, I created a table that holds nothing but the IDs and a datetime value.
    3 - When the page loads that the user uses to get to this procedure, I update datetime value for the record for that user to, say, now + 1 minute
    4 - When called, the procedure then checks the ID in that table to see if the datetime value is > now - if it is, then the download proceeds, otherwise, nothing
    You could probably also do something with a random number created when the page loads. Pass this as another parameter and check it in the process.

  • Oracle 8i database hangs for the same amount during JDBC calls.

    Hi all,
    I have a Oracle 8i database on solaris. The database hangs for exactly 61 seconds for a random jdbc call from my Java application, i mean there is no particular pattern or a JDBC call for which the database hangs. If i choose to wait for 61 seconds it returns the results from the database but if i try to access the database with another query(SQL Plus) the first query starts executing immediately. Is that a database configuration problem or some thing else.
    And i also get some exceptions occasionally( Maximum Open Cursors exception). Are these two related?
    Any feedback is appreciated.
    Thanks
    Hugo Victor

    I have uninstalled Oracle 8i.
    Removed all the services from Windows services by deleting corresponding registry entries and deleted the Oracle folder.
    I have reinstalled Oracle 8i, this time i changed the name of global database to oracledb.
    I channged the tnsnames.ora file from DevSuite appropriately as:
    # tnsnames.ora Network Configuration File: C:\DevSuiteHome_1\network\admin\tnsnames.ora
    # Generated by Oracle configuration tools.
    EXTPROC_CONNECTION_DATA =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = mscserver)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SERVICE_NAME = ORACLEDB)
    Still it can't login using scott/tiger authentication.
    What may be the problem? Please help.

    Hi,
    On way we can call a web service is to pass the Web Service URL to UTL_HTTP package:
    Sample Web Service URL
    ===================
    lv_url :=
    'http://67.97.189.151:8888/plsqlsample/dbfunc?invoke=placeOrder'

    SELECT UTL_HTTP.request (lv_url)
    INTO lv_result
    FROM DUAL;

  • Can a Stored Procedure be called from a Rule (not using Scripted JDBC Adap)

    Hello smart people,
    Question: Can a stored procedure be called from a Rule without using the Scripted JDBC Resource Adapter?
    What's Desired: The project has very strong sql developers and average at best Java developers. We have been successful at implementing the scripted JDBC Resource Adapter which makes use of Java Bean shells. The custom Java Bean shell contains code that calls a stored procedure. We are cool with that process.
    However we would like to be able to set up a Rule that calls a Stored Procedure without jumping thru the Java Bean Shell layer. The Stored Procedures we will be developing will not access the tables in the Waveset database. Instead the Stored Procedures will be accessing custom tables in a custom database. The custom DBase will be housed on the same dBase server as the Waveset database.
    Environment: Identity Manager 7.1. Oracle 10i, and Unix OS.
    It seems to me that this task is possible, but the posts in this forum make it sound like perhaps it is not.
    Do any of you smart people agree that it should be possible or better yet has anyone implemented such an approach?
    Thanks.

    We did this by putting all of the JDBC calls into a Java class, then instantiated that class and called the methods from within a rule. An example of a rule we used is this:
    <Rule authType='UserMembersRule' name='List UserType'>
      <block>
        <defvar name='adapter'>
          <new class='com.waveset.adapter.ScriptedJdbcResourceAdapter'/>
        </defvar>
        <invoke name='setResource'>
          <ref>adapter</ref>
          <invoke name='getObject' class='com.waveset.ui.FormUtil'>
            <ref>context</ref>
            <s>Resource</s>
            <s>Banner</s>
          </invoke>
        </invoke>
        <defvar name='jdbcHelper'>
          <new class='edu.bates.JDBCHelper'>
            <invoke name='getConnection'>
              <ref>adapter</ref>
            </invoke>
          </new>
        </defvar>
        <defvar name='userList'>
          <new class='java.util.ArrayList'/>
        </defvar>
        <invoke name='addQueryToList'>
          <ref>jdbcHelper</ref>
          <s>SQL QUERY HERE</s>
          <ref>userList</ref>
        </invoke>
        <ref>userList</ref>
      </block>
      <MemberObjectGroups>
        <ObjectRef type='ObjectGroup' id='#ID#Top' name='Top'/>
      </MemberObjectGroups>
    </Rule>

  • Call an Non-SharePoint Secured RESTful API from a Workflow in a SharePoint Online Tenant

    I have a scenario where I need to be able to make calls to a secured web service from a SharePoint 2013 workflow that will be deployed in a SharePoint Online (Office 365) environment. It is a REST web service that is secured in a 2-legged OAuth-like manner
    (the service expects a hash of the data being sent that can then be validated on the service's end of the communication). The problem is, I can't figure out how I can hash the data, since I can't run any server-side code in the SharePoint Online environment.
    The way I figured this should work is 1) user creates an item in a List on the SharePoint Site, which kicks off the workflow process. 2) the workflow process takes the user data and hashes it using a client secret assigned by the web service. 3) the
    workflow creates a web request to the web service, passing the data and the hashed values. 4) the web service processes the input and returns. 5) the workflow continues to the next step.
    I can't figure out how to implement step 2 in that process. I thought I could do a custom workflow activity that would accomplish it, but since it would pretty much have to be a code-based activity (i.e., not declarative), it can't be deployed in SharePoint
    Online, according to the domentation I've found. I could potentially add a third layer in the process and have an auto-hosted app that I could call to do the hashing of the data, but that seems to defeat the purpose somewhat from a security perspective.
    Has anyone else run into this kind of scenario? Doing this in an on-premesis environment would be easy, but that's not really an option.
    Thanks!

    You should implement this by passing the values to a public (forms based auth) web method (secure over SSL) that does the hash for you and returns the value to your workflow so that it can pass it on to the other service.

  • Urgent! Call stored procedure from jdbc vs. call from sqlplus?

    Hello I met a strange problem when using JDBC (to Oracle). I have a stored procedure mypack.myproc, which updates a table (only one row and one column in the table). I found that when I called the procedure directly from sql*plus, like:
    ==========
    BEGIN
    mypack.myproc;
    END;
    ==========
    the value is 2, which is correct.
    However, if I call the procedure from with in java via jdbc, the value become 591 (which is ridiculous), the jdbc call looks like:
    ================
    cstmt = con.prepareCall("{call mypack.myproc}");
    cstmt.executeUpdate();
    con.commit();
    ================
    This is really wield, Any idea?
    Thanks

    Hey buddy, it's you again. Just let you know that you are right. The problem is caused by mis-match between jdbc date and oracle date (that procedure is used to do some date calculation). My co-worker suggested me to add this statement in the procedure, and it did solved problem:
    ================
    DBMS_SESSION.SET_NLS( 'NLS_DATE_FORMAT', '''DD-MON-RRRR''' );

  • Stored Procedure call from JDBC sender for Oracle Database

    Hi,
    I have a requirement to call stored procedure using JDBC sender adapter for retriving data from an Oracle database.
    I need to execute first stored procedure call from Querry SQL statement and then trigger second stored procedure call for confirming the succesful retrival of those records from the update SQL statement.
    Querries:
    1. Can we trigger stored procedure from Update statement of JDBC sender.
    2. Can we call stored procedure from Querry statement, since I have read on other sdn threads that stored procedure calls on Oracle database are not allowed. If not possible to have "Execute stored procedure" would the function call (select * from table(function name)) work same as stored procedure.
    3. In a JDBC sender the Querry statement and Update statement are executed in same session call and same database connection. What happens if the querry statement was not succesful, would the update be still triggered.
    Please note PI does not have direct access to main table and hence the need to have separate stored procedure calls.
    The PI version is PI 7.11 sp4.
    Appreciate your inputs.
    Thanks.
    Siddhesh S.Tawate

    >1. Can we trigger stored procedure from Update statement of JDBC sender.
    I think not possible using update statement.
    > Can we call stored procedure from Querry statement, since I have read on other sdn threads that stored procedure calls on Oracle database are not allowed. Yes using select query you can call stored procedure.
    >. In a JDBC sender the Querry statement and Update statement are executed in same session call and same database connection. What happens if the querry statement was not succesful, would the update be still triggered.
    No select and update handles in the same session using the same thread so if one transaction fails update should not proceed.

  • Secure AJAX calls made from a JSR 168 portlet

    I am investigating methods to secure AJAX calls made from a JSR 168 portlet to a servlet using the Direct Web Remoting framework (DWR) and Weblogic Portal. The portlet can have more than one instance and different entitlements depending on the desktop it is available from. The Portal has several desktops and does not require the user to authenticate for some of the desktops.
    So far the only method I have come up with is to pass a token from the portlet to the servlet which indicates the entitlements the user should have to access the documents from the portlet and check in the servlet if the User has the appropriate global roles to access the documents.

    no , that doesn't work, the token passed can be modified by a malicious user (unless the token is random or signed)
    You need to store the desktop(s) the user is on in probably the HttpSession and read that from the servlet and make the decisions accordingly.

    For the future, if a forum discussion is more than (let's say) a month old, NEVER resurrect it to append your new issue. Always start a new thread. Feel free to include a link to that old discussion if you think it might be relevant.
    Also, ALWAYS use code tags as is described in the forum FAQ that is linked at the upper corner of e\very page. Your formulae will be so very much more readable.

    arguments: '-u' 'axium/***@axaxiumtrain' '-r' '-f' '-v' 'ekahau-engine-sdk.jar'

    Can anyone tell me why it would skip resolving a class? Especially after I use the -r flag to have loadjava resolve it upon loading.
    How do i get it to resolve the entire jar file?
