Securing & Signing electronic documents...

Utilizing Acrobat.com meeting for a power point presentation and closing tool. How do I then have client then sign and initial an electronic document, where my client, my equiptment lease company and myself all recieve and maintain copies of the signed document?

Hi Rebecca,.. Thanks for responding.
I have the free 30 day trial and I have uploaded a leasing document that I
wish to modify so that I can fill in all pertinent information and then
email it to a client, so they can sign and initial each page.
   - Can I have the document populate certain redundant aspects of the
information typed such as names, addresses and such?
   - How do I secure this document so that it cant be modified?
   - I want to have the client sign and initial many of the pages so they
   are visible signatures and initials.
   - Can the client download a copy for their records?
   - How does the client then send the electronically signed lease agreement
   back to me?

  • How do you digitally sign or electronically sign a document in Preview?

    Heya
I'm wondering if it's possible to "digitally sign" or "electronically sign" a document in Preview? This feature exists in Adobe Acrobat. If not, does anyone know a workaround or plugin to accomplish this? Thanks!

I believe the free Acrobat reader (9) will do that.
Otherwise you'll need the Pro version.
Here is what the Reader page says:
With each new release, Adobe continues to add functionality to Adobe® Reader® software, making it an extremely versatile tool capable of viewing, searching, *digitally signing*, verifying, printing, and collaborating with electronic documents.

  • Add fields so clients can sign electronically and send back

I've read a bunch of discussions about how to add fields to forms but none of them answered all my questions.
What I'd like to do is add a signature and text field (for date) to a PDF so that my clients can send them back signed electronically. I do not want to use EchoSign.
I have Acrobat Pro v9.5.2. I added a signature field and text field per http://www.adobe.com/accessibility/products/acrobat/pdf/A9-creating-accessible-pdf-forms.p df. I read on an Adobe forum that I was supposed to go to Save as > Reader Extended to allow the user to sign the document and send back to me signed. However, all I have as save options are Save or Save As. There's no Save As > Reader Extended option and when I choose Save As the "Save as type" does not include Reader Extended either.
Please post step by step instructions for how to do this (add 2 fields, save doc, send to client, have them sign and fill in fields and send back to me completed). Surely we can do this with 9 yes?
    Thanks so much in advance!

Here are full instructions for version 9.5.2 in case they're helpful to anyone:
How to add digital signature field to PDF using Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.5.2:
    1. Open PDF in Acrobat (Right click > Open with > Acrobat)
    2. Go to Forms > Add or Edit Fields
    3. Pop up box > select NO
    4. Click "Add New Field" button on top left > select Digital Signature
    5. Guideline-type things will appear > drag to where you want field.
    6. Click on the signature field and change name if you'd like.
    7. Click "Close From Editing" button on top left.
    8. Go to Advanced > Extend Features in Adobe Reader > Save Now
    9. Save it where you'd like
How to Digitally Sign a Document with Adobe Reader
    1. Double click the signature field on the bottom right of the contract. A pop up box will appear.
    2. If it's the first time you'll be signing anything in Adobe Reader, select bottom option, "A new digital ID I want to create now" > click Next
    3. Fill in your name and email (required) > click Next
    4. Enter a password and then again in "Confirm password" and write down your password somewhere so you'll remember
    5. Click Finish. You're now ready to sign doc
    6. Enter the password you just created into "Password" field
(To import graphic of your signature, from "appearance" field, select "Create New Appearance" > Enter title like "signature" > click "Imported graphic" option > click "File" (not sure but file might need to be a PDF) > click Okay and click okay again.
    7. Click "Sign"
    8. Save document - give it a name > Save.
    9. You should see signature in the signature field
At any point in future you can come back to signature and right click (or ctrl click if mac):
    You can clear, validate, etc.
If doc has been modified, you can "view signed version" or "show signed properties".
Edit > Protection > Security Settings
You can see any digital IDs you've set up, remove, add new ones, look at usage options,

  • I am in the merchant services business.  Need to be able to have my clients sign a document.

with a stylus or their finger.  Is there an app that does this?

Adobe Reader Touch for Windows 8 does not support it yet.
Adobe Reader for iOS/Android supports Freehand drawing and Signatures as part of the Commenting tools.
Since you are in the merchant services business, I assume that you are looking for electronic signatures that are secure and legally enforceable.  Adobe EchoSign offers the service.
    Adobe EchoSign Plans and Features
Once you subscribe to the service, you can use Adobe EchoSign for iOS on an iPad and have your clients sign PDF documents.  Sorry, no Adobe Reader products on Windows support signatures using a stylus or finger.
You may be able to find some other non-Adobe apps in the Windows Store.  But I am not aware of any others.

  • Digitally signing pdf documents

We want to digitally sign pdf documents that are generated in the printing service / AS. (rwclient is used on the client machines to access the printing service.)
The digital sign should be on all generated pdf documents, with no intervention by the end users. The digital sign should hence be on behalf on the organisation, not the individual user issuing the pdf dokument.
In addition we would like to lock the pdf documents in order på prevent manipulation of the content.
Any surgestions on how to achieve this?
    Regards

    Hello,
You can create your own destination .
An example is available on OTN :
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/reports/pluginxchange/index.html
    Secure PDF Destination
This destination creates a secure PDF that is password-protected. This sample is tested with Oracle Reports 9i, Oracle Reports 10g (9.0.4), and Oracle Reports 10g Release 2 (10.1.2).

  • Signing a document, generates a "Timestamp signature property generation error:    Verification error."

I am getting this error message when I sign my documents. Especially when I try and create a second or third signature on a document.
I have just upgraded to Reader11.0.09 and then when I got the error, I went back to Reader 11.0.08 and then back to Reader 11.0.07 but all are giving the error. The document gets signed but a pop up box shows the "Timestamp signature property generation error: verification error"
I have the settings pointing to our timestamp server under Preferences > Document Timestamping  > Server Settings.
Under signature verification preferences > Verification > Verification time, I have the "Secure time (timestamp) embedded in the signature" selected.
It seems to work but is generating the error. If I open a new document and sign it sometimes it works without the error. Occasionally it produces the error on first signing. Mostly on second and third signatures on the page..
    Any ideas?

  • Is there any means to sign a document allowing change ?

    Hi,
I am looking for the way to make a signiture that allow me to control the properties of the signed document.
To be precise, I would like to create a signed document that has a "Changing the Document" property set to "Allowed".
Basically when I signed a document then "Changing the Document" and "Document Assembly" would be set to "Not Allowed". (Please see following image)
Could anyone tell me if it is possible to sign a document allowing "Changing the Document"  ?
I wonder if I could create a digital ID that make it possible, or if I could specify my original default method for Verifying Signatures than "Adobe default security".
I would truly appreciate for your help !!
    Thanks.

The purpose of digital signing is to guarentee not only your signature but that the document you signed. So in brief, the answer should be no.

Where did you download the SDK?

May be a problem of your browser.

Look at the JavaScript sample AddSignature in the SDK.

  • Sign a document with a Digital ID with Word 2013

    Hello,
I'm trying to sign digitally a word 2013 document but I get the message "To sign a Microsoft document
you need a digital ID, would you like to get one from a Microsoft Partner now".
I click "No" and nothing happens. . .
I would expect a popup menu of some sort to pop up. I have a Digital ID Certificate from Global Sign
which I would like to use in this document.
I have no way to add the certificate in Word 2013.
Hope somebody will be able to help me.
    Thank you,
    Max

There does seem to be a lot of contradictory info out there, mostly assuming that you've already got the certificate installed. Have you already installed the certificate on your local machine? If not you should be able to right click on the certificate
file wherever you've saved it, and you'll see an option to install it. I believe once it's been installed on the local machine you'll find it available for use with your documents.
If you have a look at
https://www.globalsign.co.uk/resources/userguides/guide-to-signing-microsoft-documents.pdf on page 4 you'll see in step 5 that the digital ID should be listed.
Strangely, if you were doing this via Outlook it's a lot more obvious. If you go into File, Options, Trust Center, Trust Center Settings, E-mail Security, you'll see an option to import/export your digital ID for use with your email, but the same option
doesn't appear in Word. If installing it locally on the local machine doesn't do the trick, you could try installing into Office via Outlook, and see if it then shows up in Word.

  • Digital signature- signing adobe documents

    Hello
We are planning to buy Adobe true credentials for signing the adobe documents using digital certificates.
the program that we have is using the .pfx private keys to sign the documents. Can someone pls let us know if true credential software is going to generate private keys?

    intbuz,
First off you'll get better results posting in the appropriate forum, this is the Digital Editions forums which is discussion about Adobe Digital Editions and eBooks in general. So the people on the forum generally aren't ready to answer Acrobat Security questions which would be better asked in the Acrobat Windows forums.
Also "True Credentials" is not an Adobe product but a GeoTrust product.
    Look at either http://www.geotrust.com/products/client_certificates/true_credentials_express.asp
    or
    http://www.geotrust.com/products/client_certificates/true_credentials.asp
Assuming that's what you are talking about, a quick overview of the whitepaper leads me to believe that they are using the Operating system protected storage for the both the public and private keys, so while it won't automatically generate .pfx files, you might be able export the private keys after the fact into the container format you desire. However you should really check with GeoTrust about that, since I don't have direct experience with the product.

  • How do you insert an electronically signed report as an appendix into a main report which will be signed electronically at a later date?

How do you insert an electronically signed report as an appendix into a main report which will be signed electronically at a later date?

You can add it as a file attachment. Exactly how you do this depends on the version of Acrobat you're using, but if you open the Attachments panel, you should see where you can add a file.

  • Error while signing a document using API

Hello. I'm using API functions to add a digital signature to a PDF document. While signing this document, I receive an error which looks like:
com.adobe.livecycle.signatures.client.types.exceptions.PDFOperationException: ALC-DSS-303-001 Could not sign Signature Field MyField (in the operation : sign)
Caused By: ALC-DSS-303-014 Subject name and the subject alt name missing. (in the operation : getSignerName)
My source code is a straight copy/paste from the SDK Help. I can successfully add an unsigned signature field using API call, but I can't sign it. I can also sign my document manually from Adobe Acrobat Professional using the same certificate.
I'm new in LiveCycle and digital signatures, so it might be some obvious reason that I just can't detect now.
    Could anyone help me, please?
