SECURITY USER_AUTH IN UBBCONFIG FILE

My question regarding this is: if you set this option, what kind of security do we
need? Do we need a process to be running? The problem I have is that I created a
Tuxedo /WS client. The only way to get it running is to comment this out. I have
added code to try to validate that is something like this:
strcpy(tpinfo-->usrname, (char *) "sa");
strcpy(tpinfo-->cltname, (char *) "clarify");
strcpy(tpinfo-->passwd, (char *) "sa");
strcpy(tpinfo-->grpinfo, "");
This always fails. In our test region, I can logon as "sa"..can someone explain
a little how security works?

When you use USER_AUTH security you also need to specify a value
for the AUTHSVC parameter in the ubbconfig.
Every time a client calls tpinit() this service will be called
with the TPINIT data you supply to tpinit().
If the service returns with TPSUCCESS the client will be granted
access to the system, else it will be denied.
You can write this service yourself. If you do, you must put it
in a TUXEDO server (like any other TUXEDO service) and make sure
that the server is running (it should have an entry in the
*SERVERS section in ubbconfig).
If you don't want to implement this service BEA supplies a
"standard" version called .AUTHSVC in a server named AUTHSVR.
In this case you should make sure that AUTHSVR is in the
*SERVERS section of the ubbconfig. If you use this server you
also need to maintain the "database" for that server, using
tpusradd and similar commands.
Please note that you will still need to supply an application
password that is common to all clients, similar to APP_PW
security.
Hope this helps,

    I 'm trying to learn Tuxedo from Scratch, So i 'm targetting to install & see some

    2). I installed weblogic 6.1 in my D:\ with D:\bea\      as The bea home and

    Please tell me how and from where to run The Command and create The TUXCONFIG

    Also, i 'm not able to Start and Stop the Tlisten on The 3050 port.. even after
    setting it up for automatic start up and re-booting The Machine.
    Please guide me how to proceed and successfully install The tuxedo 8.0 , so That
    i can see Some thing working ( sample C application) to being with.

    Besides the helpful advice that the others have given, I'd like to point
    out that you really don't want to be learning Tuxedo by using rpcsimp.
    This is the sample application for our DCE compatibility mode, using the
    TxRPC interface. You will want to start with simpapp, and then move onto
    bankapp to learn about using Tuxedo with databases and transactions.
    It is always good to have new Tuxedo users join us.

  • How to install MSFT application security updates in cab file format using DISM

    Hi,
    I tried to install security updates for MS Office which are cab files like any other windows security updates cab file. It is giving an error called "file not found". But other windows security updates cab files are installing fine without any error.
    I tried to install these updates manually using DISM on commandline. It is not installing. I even tried using pkgmgr.exe, but that is not working either. I looked at DISM logs which is saying it failed opening the cab file. I tried different other commandline
    options of DISM to install this, but nothing else is suitable for a cab file install.
    Does anyone know how to install a cab file for application security updates via DISM.exe or other MSFT commandline tools?
    Thanks,

  • Is there a way to lock or secure imovie and its files

    Hello and as always thanks for all the help in my previous posts.
    I frequently review and edit video that needs to remain secure during the editing process.
    Before I import it and when I'm done with a project I can secure it in several ways, but while working on it in imovie its wide open to anyone who opens the app. My mac is under my control, but life goes on around my work and my Mac is used for other things as well.
    Is there a way to either lock imovie so it can't be opened without a password and is there a way to hide/secure the folders the program uses?
    thanks in advance.
    Marc

    The default location for your iMovie files is in your User account (the icon with the house on it).
    Other users of the machine should have their own User account (guest user) and they will not have access to your files but can continue to use iMovie.

  • Trying to add some security to uploading .DWF files from my application

    My application uses the LDAP authentication scheme, and its working great.
    But my application also provides a link to Floor Plans that are stored on the files system in DWF format.
    The link is on the directory path which is an attribute to the record.
    Part of the directory path is masked because the files on my system are located in the Document Root. (Thats fine).
    But the link can be copied and pasted into any browser without any means of validation or security.
    We like our LDAP authentication scheme, but I need to secure these files.
    I've found something in the Pro Oracle Application Express book that sounds promising, but I don't know how to apply it.
    In Chapter 9, File Storage, and the Standard upload section, I read about the "WWV_FLOW_API.SET_SECURITY_GROUP_ID" procedure. This procedure accepts the numeric value of the Workspace. If I could somehow use this procedure along with a condition for UpLoading the file that might work.
    Can anyone give me some ideas here?
    The example the book gives is this EXEC WWV_FLOW_API.SET_SECURITY_GROUP_ID(99999nnnnnn);
    where (99999nnn..) is the same numeric id as SELECT &WORKSPACE_ID. from dual;
    I appreciaate any ideas!

  • Setting security level of infopath files

    Hi,
    At work i have designed an Infopath file and it has some code behind it which will be executed when a memo button is clicked. But when i try to preview it by hitting F5 in keyboard it shows error , so i checked the security level and it was set to auto.
    When i changed it to Full Trust, it is working fine. Is it really due to the Full Trust and is there any other way we can make it work by setting the security as full trust.
    Thanks in Advance
    Arjun Menon U.K

    Hi,
    Did you add Visual Studio code behind it? In that case you need to create a certificate for your file. This certificate should also be on the receving server in order to create a secure setting as full trust. One of the reasons I always try to avoid
    coding in InfoPath to much hassle on the server side.

  • Should files be securely deleted if using File Vault?

    Do I need to "shred" or in someway securely delete files and mail that sit in File Vault? I am new to the MacOS and I am not sure where deleted files/mail go. If they don't leave the Home Folder it should be ok but if they somehow are relocated outside the Home Folder, I assume I would have a problem unless they are securely deleted.

    Interesting question, sgmiller.
    The default Trash location is a hidden directory in your Home folder, ~/.Trash, which would be in your File Vault, assuming the File Vault includes your entire Home directory and doesn't leave anything out.
    When you delete a file, its directory entry is updated, rewriting the parent directory of the file to the ~/.Trash folder. Then when you empty the Trash, the directory entry of the file is simply removed and the file disappears from the file system. They don't really go anywhere, they just disappear. However, the bytes still remain on the disk until something else comes along and writes to those sectors, so Secure Delete can be used to overwrite the previously used areas of the disk with zeros.
    I guess it depends on how careful you want to be. You may also be interested in using Secure Virtual Memory if you aren't already, under "System Preferences->Security".
    Clear as mud, my apologies!

  • Can anyone advise me on AVG Secure Search startup and file tree leftover bloat removal suggestions?

    I recently used the solution provided at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/927950?page=2#answer-364990 by KerriB. It worked. However, I still found traces of the bloatware in two other places. Not sure if I should remove them, or not. Suggestions? I've included images of the locations (slightly edited for security reasons).
    One is in my startup programs. To access: Mouseover an open space on your desktop. Press the Windows key and the R key at the same time. A dialog box pops up. Type in msconfig. Choose the startup tab. This lists all the programs that are starting at startup. As you can see, VProtect Application and ROC_roc_ssl_v12 are listed as manufacturer unknown, but in the file tree, they are in C:\Program Files\AVG Secure Search.
    The other location is accessed via Start, then choosing Computer, Local Disk (C:) (your local disk might be a different letter, obviously) , Program Files. As you can see, there exists an entire folder FILLED with AVG Secure Search items.
    I do have an open support ticket with AVG on this matter, but it being the weekend, I may not hear back for a couple of days. I will let everyone know what they advise when I do hear back from them.
    UPDATE:
    I have complained to AVG, and they offered me a free license for their paid AVG Premium security 2012 edition ... o.O ... anyway, I wrote them back asking about the above left-overs and they responded by sending me a download for a special uninstaller (which you have to install - go irony!). I've included an image of that email (image3).
    After running their uninstaller, I ran a system clean-up, and a deep cleaning run of Advanced Systemcare (my favorite cleanup utility), did a restart, then did a search for "AVG".
    As you can see (image 4), I *STILL* had a folder full of AVG accessed by going to Start, Computer, C:\.
    I did a secure shred delete (again, and Advanced Systemcare tool, but simply deleting probably would be fine) of this AVG folder. Again, I ran a system clean-up, and a deep cleaning run of Advanced Systemcare (my favorite cleanup utility), did a restart, then did a search for "AVG". This time, nothing came up. Great! right? NO. I wanted to be *SURE* it was ALL gone, so I opened Windows Defender (the included firewall that comes with Windows 7), expanded the menu on drives to scan, and low-and-behold, look, what do you know, a HIDDEN $AVG folder (image 5)!
    Now I have to view all hidden folders to find it. That is done by going to Start, Control Panel, (change View By: to Small Icons), Folder Options, (popup window), View Tab, then check the selection dot beside "Show hidden files, folders, and drives", Apply, OK (see image 6 for the walk-through). Now go back to Start, Computer, C:\, and it should show the hidden $AVG folder. If that doesn't show it, you can also do a Search, and delete the folder from the Search results. AGAIN, I ran a system clean-up, and a deep cleaning run of Advanced Systemcare (my favorite cleanup utility), did a restart, then did a search for "AVG".
    I now feel I am completely free of AVG. I hope this helps you get rid of it too!

  • Security settings on pdf files

    I have created a form in Word and then added fillable fields under a trial Acrobat Pro.  In beta testing (basically e-mails to myself and my staff), I find the form can't be saved by the recipient.  I have gone into security settings and have "no security" set.  I am thinking this is purely a function of the fact I am using Acrobat Pro as a trial user and that when I buy the software, I will be able to solve this security issue, but I would like confirmation of my belief.  Any thoughts would be appreciated.

    In order for Reader users to save a filled-in form, the document has to be Reader-enabled unless they're using Reader 11. To Reader-enable a document in Acrobat 11, select: File > Save as Other > Reader Extended PDF > Enable More Tools
    but exit form editing mode first.

  • How to purchase Export PDF in France - how to overcome security on a PDF file

    I've been trying today to get subscribed to Adobe Export PDF, but since I live in France, it doesn't seem to be available for purchase.  I found a page in French where I was invited to subscribe, but it took me to the French Adobe Store, where this item does not seem to exist.
    However, I did reach a page where I was invited to try it out, which I did with a PDF page, really wanting to transfer it into a .csv file, but tried Microsoft Excel as the nearest available.  However, when it had tried to process this PDF file, I got the message that the security on the PDF document was such that I couldn't export anything from it.  I checked the security on the document and found, surprise, surprise, that yes, I couldn't export from it (or much else either).
    So, is Adobe Export PDF supposed to override the security on the original documents, or do I have to have another (paid for) version of Adobe in order to use this facility?
    If it is supposed to override the security, how can I purchase, or otherwise access Export PDF in France?
    If the security settings continue to prevent any access, do I have to go to the original provider of the document to get them to change the security settings?
    Any help would be gratefully received.
    Perhaps someone can get on to Adobe in France to ask them to make their pages more logical?  i;e. don't invite people to buy something which apparently is not on sale here.  If it is, then please make it available on the store page.
    Thanks

    Good day,
    Unfortunately, our ExportPDF service is not yet available for purchase in France.  Update: Adobe ExportPDF is available in France.
    As for any security settings applied to a file, you would have to contact the file's originator to obtain the document password and remove that password within Adobe Acrobat (separate program), or obtain an unsecured version of the file.  Our service will not allow you to circumvent any security settings that have been applied to a file.
    Kind regards,

  • Providing security to the PDF file using apache FOP in java

    I am working on PDF file generation using Apache FOP, I have security concerns which are
    1. PDF file will be placed in a folder after generation and that should not be copied to other locations.
    2. PDF file should only have an option print nothing else. The save/save as options should never be enabled.
    3. PDF expiry date is required, so that PDF file will get expire after duration.

    HI,
    I did that too, with too much experiments.
    Code snippet for reference.
    PdfReader reader = new PdfReader(getOutputFilePath());
    PdfStamper stamper = new PdfStamper(reader, new FileOutputStream("my-new-file.pdf"));
    stamper.setDuration(1,1);
    int permissions = PdfWriter.HideMenubar & PdfWriter.HideToolbar & PdfWriter.HideWindowUI & ~( PdfWriter.AllowCopy | PdfWriter.AllowModifyAnnotations | PdfWriter.AllowFillIn | PdfWriter.AllowAssembly | PdfWriter.AllowModifyContents | PdfWriter.AllowScreenReaders);
    stamper.setEncryption(null, null,
    permissions, PdfWriter.STRENGTH40BITS);
    stamper.setFormFlattening(true);
    System.out.println(stamper.getMoreInfo());
    stamper.close();
    I am able to disable the save button, but I am unable to disable the save as option.
    It would be great help, if you can give some inputs on this.

  • Security Permissions for simple file transfer

    Hey All
    I'm transferring a file using RMI as part of an enhancement. I want to restrict where the file can be transferred to and thus will use a security manager (On the destination object). However the object its being transferred to shares the same JVM with another quite complex application that currently doesn't need a security manager.
    Will I need to set a whole host of permissions for this application even though I only want to restrict file writing?
    I suspect this is the case just want confirmation.

    Hi,
    In the code which receives the file being transferred, you might try calling System.setSecurityManager(new SecurityManager()). Use the configured Java policy to limit where the file can be written. After calling setSecurityManager(), save the file. Before returning to the rest of the application, call System.setSecurityManager(null). Ensure that your code has setSecurityManager permission or this call will fail. If this idea doesn't work, you could simply use a security manager for the whole application, and just grant AllPermission to everything except the file receiving code. Everyone says AllPermission is dangerous, but it's no more dangerous than running with no security manager at all :)
