Seem to have difficulty sending email when leaving the house
In my home, my iphone is connected via wifi. Emails from my pop accounts send fine...no problems. It seems that whenever I leave the house and it switches to 3G, my emails don't want to send. I actually have to go into each account's settings and either turn on or turn off the SSL setting. It just happens to be whatever it's set at. It'll work both ways so it's not like it's requiring SSL.
Unless this email account has an authenticated SMTP server regardless if the SMTP server supports SSL or not, you will have problems sending with the account when not connected to the internet via your internet service provider.
I access two email accounts with the iPhone's mail client. One account supports SSL for the incoming and outgoing mail server, and the other account does not, but each account has an authenticated SMTP server. I've never experienced any problems sending with either account regardless my internet connection.

Thank you for your quick reply. I will check with my provider (telus) in Canada. The error to recollection is "cannot send mail". My two ho e wifi accounts are also Telus accounts so I think you are on to something.
I have traveled to Mexico and assumed that the country was at fault bt now I am somewhere else in Canada and the wifi is Bell and I am having the same trouble -

It all depends on the policy of whoever is the ISP at each location and the method used by the outgoing (SMTP) server to determine whether you’re a legitimate user. Note that when you’re not at home, the ISP at that location is usually not the same as the ISP when you’re at home.
In an attempt to fight spam, many ISPs restrict the ability to send using an outgoing (SMTP) server not owned by them, usually by blocking port 25 for all traffic outside their own network, which means you cannot send with an SMTP server not owned by them if configured to use that port number. And it may happen the other way around as well, i.e. the outgoing server itself may look at the IP address you’re connecting from and refuse the connection if you’re outside its own network.
Something that often works is changing the outgoing server port to 587 (or whatever alternate port number the outgoing server listens to) instead of 25 and using some form of authentication in Preferences > Accounts > Account Information > Outgoing Mail Server > Server Settings, but two conditions must be satisfied for this change to work: (1) the ISP must not block that port as well AND (2) the outgoing server in question must listen to that port and accept a form of authentication not based on the IP address you’re connecting from.
Independent mail service providers not tied to a particular ISP, such as .Mac and Gmail, do allow authenticated SMTP access on port 587, which is the reason changing the outgoing server port number solves the problem for them if the ISP doesn’t block that port as well.
The following article, for example, describes several ways to address this issue in the case of .Mac, but can be useful for other mail accounts as well (not just .Mac), and applies to all versions of Mac OS X (not just Mac OS X 10.4.2 and earlier as the article states):

Cannot send emails when abroad
Using Vodafone I cannot seem to reply to any emails when I am abroad - Blackberry seems to simply not send them and leaves the emails I am trying to send just pending......that circular sign next to the email as if to say "I am trying but not able to send!" Anyone know why this might be happening? Hitting resend makes no difference either.
I can send and receive emails quite well within the country I live.
BTW I live in The Netherlands and this happens the moment I go somewhere else i.e. UK, France, etc....
Thanks in advance.You have to speak with your home carrier and arrange a roaming plan in other countries and on other carriers. Typically, that needs to be arranged before you leave.

I have spotty signal at my home, so some functions don't work until I leave the house. I noticed on the main screen, it says I have 54 emails, but when I open the app, I only have 4. I powered down and back up. No fix. What gives?
Im having this same problem an my phone is about 3 weeks old. I am not sure about the voice over part though...I have not yet figured out how to work the voice recognition part of the phone...I am such a newbie with this phone. I did the power off/on suggestion, several times. I tried leaving it off for 10 minutes. Tried to reset with the power on/off and home button pressed at the same time. Charged battery. Still makes no difference. You cannot scroll any direction. Have to double click to open apps. Have to double click letters when texting or emailing in order to get the letter in the text box. Can scroll through app choices, have to click on the line with the dots in it and move from page to page. Can't access the settings - > general - > accessibility - because it won't allow me to scroll down to "general".
Anyone help you with your fix yet? -
Why am I unable to send email when away from my home wifi ? I am able to receive mail OK, and have double- checked the outgoing server which is correct. This problem is consistent with my Macbook Pro, iPhone, and iPad2.
Attempts to send messages results in them sitting in the Outbox and never- ending 'sending message' displayed.
I am able to send using my me.com server.
Home service provider is Cogeco.

Apex 4: How to send email when form is submitted?
Hi,
Using Apex 4.0.2 on DB 11g, I've a form with around 80 fields and 4 check boxes.
When the user clicks on submit button, besides saving the values in the database I also have to send emails. Selection of the 4 check boxes decides whom the email has to go to, i.e if 2 check boxes are checked, send 2 emails.
In the emails, some contents will be based on the data the user has filled and some from the database; also data in different emails will be different.
From what I've read, to send email I've to use APEX_MAIL API and make a conditional process depending on the check boxes selected. Also that I have configure mail server in database and that mail sever has to accept autonomous user (i.e. sending email without password)
Is this the right approach?
How can I do this?
Is there any example/tutorial that will guide me in doing this?

Most smtp servers require user and password. In that case you have to write your own procedure. Search the pl/sql forum for email authentication and you will find many examples.
It is probably also possible to configure the smtp server in such a way that requests coming from the database do not need authentication. That is how we have it configured (but I don't know how the administrator did it, though). -
Can't send email when not on my home wifi
I use roadrunner as my email. I also have my own domain that I forward my email to my roadrunner email address. I have configured my email using the settings at http://help.rr.com/hmsfaqs/e_rrmail_emailSettings_iphone.aspx. I have double check it. When setting up my email I use my domain email address. I have configured the pop-server to point to my roadrunner email address and I point the outgoing server to also use my roadrunner account. This work perfectly fine when I am at home. I am able to send emails. The problem is that when I am on AT&T wifi network or some other wifi network I get an error that I my domain email address was rejected by the server.The only way to get it to send is to turn off wifi and use 3G. It then sends properly. This use to work for the past 2 years, but has stopped working. There were no changes on my end except the upgrades to new 4.3.x iOS upgrades. I didn't notice when this stopped working and whether it was due to an iOS upgrade or a change on by roadrunner on their servers.
If I change the return email address from my domain email address to my roadrunner email address, it send fine both at my home wifi and at AT&T wifi network. I have contacted roadrunner help support. They were less than helpfull. After 5 emails and 5 response from them, they said it was an Apple issue and that I should contact apple. Has anyone else noticed this issue?

My problem is when the reply to is not my roadrunner address but my own domain (which is forward to roadrunner) I can't send off network. I have not been able to solve that issue.

How to send email when resubmission ends?
Hi experts,
In my workflow the users want to receive reminder on specific date.
So when the step arrive to the workplace, the users make resubmission and the step transferred to RESUBMISSION folder.
On Resubmission date I have to send email to some users.
The Resubmission date coming must be also the terminating event for the Task.
There actions must be performed only when Resubmission date coming
and not if user performs "End Resubmission" manually.
How can I do this?

You can use dead line monitoring to solve the resubmission problem. I am explaining the scenario I used it for.
I had to re execute the agent resolution after a certain date is passed and there were some more conditions to be checked before that. When you activate deadline a new output option is available called "Dead Line Passed". In this output you can use process control type step for making current work item obsolete, this will give control a new output called "Processing obsolete" in this branch you can call send email step and loop back and re submit the work item to who ever you want same person. In my case it has to be next level in approval hierarchy so I just added one level and looped back to decision step for new agent resolution.
I hope this makes sense. If you give exact scenario I may work out a prototype or simple steps.

Trouble sending email when on Wifi.
Can't send email when on Wifi, but can send when on 4G or maybe 3G - I forget. Can receive emails fine on both. To further confuse things I have three email accounts on my phone, two of them have no trouble sending or receiving when on either wifi or 4G.. I've checked and compared settings dozens of time.
I have a private hosted email account (not sure if that is the right word) But I don't have google, AOL, or something like that..

Yes it would be the same. Maybe I'm too tired to figure this out.
The only other thing that comes to mind is that your wifi router's firewall may be blocking that port. But if that were the case, your PC or Mac wouldn't be able to send mail either. -

Per my knowledge, if the task is created from a workflow, then you may use the task actions in the workflow.
And some task actions will send an email to the user who the task is assigned to, so the email is sent from the workflow and it is not sent from the option “Send email when ownership is assigned”.
If you are using 2013 workflow, the send email action cannot be prevented from the workflow.
If you are using 2010 workflow, you can go into the task process to delete the Send an Email action.

ADF Mobile cannot directly send emails as this is a security precaution of your mobile phone (imagine all applications could send mails without you confirming). Instead the send mail functionality launches the mail client you have configured and fill in the information you provided in the application. The mail function by the way is implemented through Cordova.

Today the tech tried to assist me and completely messed up my email capabilities by setting up

I am thoroughly disgusted with FIOS internet services..Every time I've called them in the past month problem has been with someone else whose portal services they are using.
I cannot send emails because all my contact information cannot be moved.
I'm paying for FIOS internet service that is almost non existent.
THe VZ in home agent doesn't work nor does the FIOS information site.
My next move is to get rid of FIOS.

I have difficulty in hearing conversation around the table when many are speaking. Can I put my Iphone 4 3G in the centre of the table and tune it to my hearing aid to join in the converstion?
There are hearing aids that support a BlueTooth connection to a phone. However, to make that work, you'd need to put someone elses phone in the middle of the table, then call it from your phone which you had connected to your aids using BT. I can't imagine that the quality of a call over speaker phone would really be good enough to help, though.
