Segmental Reporting

Can we make the Segmental Reporting according to AS 17 in SAP by any standard report?

and to add some detail to the last post.
You need to make sure Segment is mandatory.
In terms of reporting, there is a new GL balance report that you can run by Segment.
There is also a new Trial Balance report which can be broken down by Segment.
These can be found in the new GL folder in reporting.
Lastly you could get all the reporting you want in BI.

  • Segment reporting, split by profit center; still need segment splitting?

    HI experts,
With reference to the subject of this post, I would like to have better understanding on the followings:
Settings (1) IMG > Financial Accounting (New) > Financial Accounting Global Settings (New) > Ledgers > Ledger > Assign Scenarios and Customer Fields to Ledgers ... I have settings of <Profit Center Update and Cost Center Update>
    VERSUS
Settings (2) IMG > Financial Accounting (New) > General Ledger Accounting (New) > Business Transactions > Document Splitting > Define Document Splitting Characteristics for General Ledger Accounting ... I have profit center to be split (updated)
My concern, is I want to have segmental reporting.  In the SAP material, it says that segment derived from Profit Center.
My Question:  With the above settings (1) and (2), do I still need to have additional settings for segment?  For example:
Settings (2), do I need to set segment here?
How about settings (1), any need to have <segment update>?
In settings (2), help file says: "This determines what fields in a ledger are updated when it receives posting from other application components."  Not quite sure what this statement mean.
    Thanks and regards,
    sbmel

    Hello,
The actual need of scenarios to be added in every ledger is the need for these objects to be updated in new tables like FAGLFLEXT. If you do not add scenarios then information of cost center, profit center , segment will not be updated in New GL Tables.
Hence it is mandatory to pass entire information related to Cost Centers, Profit Centers and Segment by adding relevant scenarios to all the ledgers activated.
Secondly, segment is such a field that can not only be derived from profit center but also through a BADI using a logic written using ABAP code.

  • Profit Center Configuration for segment reporting

    Hi Experts,
We use flexible upload for first consolidation, at that time we take profit centers as prefix P company code eg., Company code: ABCD then profit center : PABCD
In LDS mapping tab page for profit center configured  move with constant as "PABCD" and then for segment we use reassignment based on segment - Company code - GL accounts.
Now client requires wants to take actual profit centers for segment reporting
For this we are going to changed in LDS as follows:
    1. Removed constant value "PABCD"  and maintain source attributes - Profit Center in profit center
    2. Removed all reassignment and configured reassigned segment based on profit centers and GL accounts is it correct procedure if not please guide me how to do
If the above is correct we expecting problem may be as under:
    1. In Total Records FS items shows both Actual profit centre and PABCD how i can resolve - may be post any entry if so in which period before Balance carryforward period or after
2.We are going to execute Balance Carry forward Task in next month, what is result for FS items and profit centers, is carry forward with actual profit center or PABCD or Both
    Pls give reply

  • Segment reporting view in FBL1N

    Dear Friends,
We have segment reporting and each plant is a different segment.
Our various plants deal with common vendor and have same vendor code
I need to see the segment view of one vendor in FBL1N report
Hence i added "Segment" as a field in SPRO - as below
Path: FA(New) -->GL (New) --> Master Data --> GL Accounts -->Line Items --> Define special fields for line item display.
    Table: BSEG
    field: SEGMENT
    save the changes.
I still cannot see SEGMENT in selection options after executing FBL1N.
    Kindly assist, Thanks
    Sanjay

    Hi Sanjay,
I am not aware which version of SAp you are working with.. But if you are working with new GL active for your company code, then you will not see Segment view in FBL1N. Instead use report  "S_PCO_36000219 - Payables: Segment "
Now the question, that why even after adding to special fields it is not displaying.. it is because, this Config node would pick up data from BSEG table, so only if you have entered segment manually at the time of posting, it would show after adding to Special fields.
This segment in the baove report is picked up from FAGL* tables.
    Hope it clarifies..

  • Segment reporting with document splitting

    Hi Experts,
We have implemented newgl without segment reporting and document splitting.  we do not implemented other functions like AP, AR and AA and all. without having with modules is it useful to implement segment reporting with document splitting?
If it is useful both are useful or only one.
before implementing this what are the things that we need to check or can i directly configure this two
    for segment reporting
    1.Define segment
2.entering the segment in profit master data
These two configurations are sufficient or would they require some more configurations help me in this...
    and for Document splitting
what are the steps that we need to before configuring the document splitting
    Thanks,

  • Why do we need Segment Reporting?

    Dear Experts,
Why do we need Segment reporting since Profit Center reporting can do the same?
    Basically what's the difference?
    Regards,
    Abraham

    Hi Abraham,
This is what IAS -14 AND IFRS -8 says:
    IAS
Business segment: a component of an entity that (a) provides a single product or service or a group of related products and services and (b) that is subject to risks and returns that are different from those of other business segments. [IAS 14.9]
    IFRS
that engages in business activities from which it may earn revenues and incur expenses (including revenues and expenses relating to transactions with other components of the same entity)
So every company which wants to prepare their Financial statements with either IAS or IFRS need to prepare segment wise Balance sheets and P&L accounts also.
A reportable segment is a business segment which is generating 10% of total revenues and 10% of total profit or loss and which is having 10% of total assets.
Please get back to me if you need further assistance.
    Regards,
    Ravi.

  • Advantages of segment reporting and document splitting

    Hi Experts,
Please provide the advantages of segment reporting and document splitting. and also please share any configuration document relating to this.
    Thanks
    Chandana

    Hi!
Segment is a business sub unit for internal reporting purpose. This ensures to give a performance report in terms of money on particular segment. Profit center need segment in their master data. If you want a different segment than profit center segment, you have to implement BAPi with the help of ABAPer to get the derived segment.
Document splitting means to split up the line items for selected dimentions (Ex: Profit Centers, segments etc). You can split up a single line items with multiple line items for desired reporting purpose.
You have to follow certain steps at IMP to configure this.

  • Segment reporting

(We are using ECC 6.0, new GL)
Is there any standard report in SAP for reporting of financial statements (balance sheet and income statement) by segments? I cant find any... If there is, please give me a guidance.
Or it must be created using queries or report painter?

    Hello
    Reporting for Open Item Accounting
    Use
The SAP standard delivery contains some drilldown reports enabling you to check the origin of payables or receivables for profit centers (or profit center groups) or segments. These drilldown reports are:
    ·        Receivables: Profit Center
    ·        Payables: Profit Center
    ·        Receivables: Segment
    ·        Payables: Segment
You can use the delivered standard reports as templates for your own reports. Generally, you can use the reports for any account assignment object contained in New General Ledger Accounting.
    Prerequisites
For you to be able to use the delivered standard reports, Document Splitting must be active. In this way, postings from accounts receivable and accounts payable to the corresponding reconciliation account in General Ledger Accounting are distributed on the basis of the offsetting accounts for the G/L account.
    Features
Open item accounting is only possible for normal items, that is, it is not possible for noted items and parked items because there are no line items in General Ledger Accounting for these items.
If you use hierarchies as report selections, the hierarchy you choose is only used to select the data if you have not restricted the characteristic at the same time (for example, using custom selections). You can only apply a hierarchy for data selection in the case of small hierarchies because this does not involve the data being divided internally into data blocks of a manageable size. Using hierarchies with many elements can cause the system to terminate. If selections are used to restrict the characteristic, the hierarchy is only used for display purposes.
    Activities
You find the reports on open item accounting from the SAP Easy Access menu under Accounting ® Financial Accounting ® General Ledger ® Information System ® General Ledger Reports (New) ® Line Items ® Open Items.
    Regards

  • Segment Reporting.... What happens to Inter Company Transactions

I have 2 simple questions, please help me if you know the answers:
    1. Inter Company: When we report at Segment Level (ECC 6.0) how do we eliminate Intercompany sales for company codes belonging to same segment. Is there a standard program to do this.
    2. Inter Segment: Are there any standard reports for Inter Segment.
Please do share you experiences with Inter Company and Inter Segment scenarios and reporting.
    Thanks

The problem is you need to create  COMPANY and assign the same to both company codes in OBY6.
The following information must be useful.
You can post the cross company code postings even between two controlling areas. The system does not prevent to post documents between two company codes in two controlling area. Need not necessarily they should be under one operating concern. Provided you have to make sure that you have followed the following points:
In OBY6 - To company codes must be assigned to same Company, meaning that you mus thave created a Company and that company must have been assigned to these two company codes.
OBYA - You should maintain the clearing accounts in both the company codes. Meaning that you are posting one leg in one company code and the other leg in the other company. Therefore, it is required to have the missing legs in each company code.
    Company Code1 - Posting Key 40 - Clearing Account
    Company Code1 - Posting Key 50 - Clearing Account
    Company Code2 - Positng Key 40 - Clearing Account
    Company Code2 - Posting Key 50 - Clearing Account
OB08 - In case if the two company codes have different local (company code) currencies, you may maintain the exchange rates.
You can now go to F-02 and post a cross company code transaction giving the first leg in first company code and the second leg in second company code. Missing leg in the first company code will be posted to the GL Account mentioned in OBYA and the missing leg in the second company code will be posted to the GL Account mentioned in OBYA. That means you will have four line items overall.
The system will post three document.
Document 1 in First Company Code
Document 2 in Second Company Code
    and
Document3 - Cross Company Code Document.
The cross company code document consists of the first company code document number plus company code plus last two digits of the fiscal year.
Hope this must have clarified your doubts.
Please let me know in case if you need further details.
    Thanks,
    Ravi

  • IDOC segment report with domain lookup

Does anyone know of a report that will list an IDOC's segments with the qualifier texts expanded.
    Example:
The E1EDK14-QUALF segment belongs to domain EDI_QUALFO (IDOC qualifier organization) which has 19 values in its value table.
I'd like a report that would print the IDOC segment by segment along with the qualifiers value text.

    Hello Ed,
Use function module 'IDOCTYPE_READ_COMPLETE'. This will give you a list of segments with description, a list of fields with description, a list of domain values for the fields and a list of message types connected to that IDOC type.
You need to populate PI_IDOCTYP with the IDOC type and possibly PI_CIMTYP with the extension, if you are using an extension with that type. If not, Idoc Type is sufficient.

  • Report not picking value for segment reporting

    Hello,
The PA report is not picking up the carry forward value. I have checked the following.
1)in FS10N  balance carry fwd has been done.
2)2keh Profit center carry fwd actual balance has been performed
3)KE5Z Chk a/c wise transaction, it is showing that PA documents exist
The program was developend last year December and it had picked the correct value for the same (cumulative value).
Kindly let me know what could be the possible reason. Any pointer for the same will be highly appreciated.

  • Segment Reporting and Cost of Sales Accounting

    Hi Experts,
Will there be an impact if we won't activate cost of sales accounting but we activated document online splitting and segment?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
They are different.  Cost of Sales Accounting requires the functional area to be assigned or a subsitution rule activated.
    Hope this helps.

  • Report asset values for segment?

    Hi all,
so I have been trying to see if it is possible to get a list of all assets but grouped by segment. At the moment, during posting the system knows which segment to post to according to cost center. Also, according to cost center, it is easy to get all assets grouped by profit centers. That is done by creating a new sort variant. But when I want to do that also for segment I can not find a segment field? I read through numerous posts here, notes, help, but could not find how to do it. Some help suggests to "Activate segment reporting" in customizing, but I can not find that option at all? I tried checking field status variants to see if this field is suppressed somehow, but it is not. I tried with activating account assignment objects but there also segment field does not exist.
    Any ideas?
    Thank you!
    D.

    Hi ,
First and foremost thing that if we are talking of Segment wise report then in that case following possibilty has to be there :
    1. Relevant entries in ANLZ should be there with a value in the field SEGMENT .
    2. Using the T code OAVI you can make you own sort varient where in you can select ANLAV - SEGMENT as sort level .
    3. By making the settings as mentioned above , you can use various reports like S_ALR_870* with your sort varient for achieving your requirement .
    Hope this helps .

  • Getting Segment in the Asset Master ( Using SEGMENT Badi and not Prt Ctrs)

    Hi,
We need the field Segment to be populated in the Asset Master to get the correct P&L Statements ( The depreciation run, retirements etc to post to the Segments) . We are using the segment Badi: FAGL_DERIVE_SEGMENT to derive Segments and NOT the  Profit Centers
However, the field Segment missing in Asset Master (Class). The field segment is missing the Time Dependent view while creating the Asset Master Data. This is so because in the Configuration of Asset Accounting --> Integration with GL --> Additional Account
Assignment Objects is not showing the Segment field.
According to SAP help, I CAN DO THIS as mentioned
    http://help.sap.com/erp2005_ehp_05/helpdata/en/94/f13167dbae436a85a4a1d3ad75f274/frameset.htm
But, as mentioned in the SAP help link above, I am not able to find " Activate segment reporting in
Customizing for Asset Accounting under Integration with General
Ledger --> Accounting Segment Reporting --> Activate Segment Reporting"
Also, from another SAP Help link
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_crm700_ehp01/helpdata/en/fb/84a48d665e4fa9a2dc7b60adeb7c7d/frameset.htm
I found that activation of Business Function FIN_GL_REORG_1
or FIN_REP_SIMPL_3 could also get us the Segment Field in the Asset
    Master Data's Time Dependent Field
However, when I goto Transaction SFW5 - Change Business Function Statuswe are not able to find these Business Functions (FIN_GL_REORG_1
    or FIN_REP_SIMPL_3 )
    Regards

Hi, Activate segment reporting is available only in EHP5.
If you'renot using EHP5, then you can't to update segment as well as profit center in asset master data.
The only way is to put co objects in asset master data, and derive PC,segment based on this co objects
