Select Byte Order when Savin a DAT file

Hi,
I need to save a DAT file selecting "Low -> High" as Byte Order, but nothing works. Doesn't matter what I do It's always stored as "High -> Low"
I tried assigning the value "Low -> High" to the variables FileHdByteOrder & DataSetByteOrder but when saving the values return to "High -> Low" and are ignored.
Is there a way to do it?

Thanks for the clarification.
We generate the DAT files with LabVIEW (any byte order can be selected) and then we use a custom Java application to manage a database results from the DAT files.
Sometimes we need to work on the files using DIAdem but gives us many problems as our Java application only supports Big-Endian DAT files. I think that we will have to implement that feature in our application.
Any way could be nice to select the byte order in DIAdem.

ORA-01242 - Media failure when restarting DB - data file locked ?

Hi all,
I've been experiencing the same problem on several databases for about one month.
This occured on 8.1.7.4.1 and 9.2.0.7.0 db, on windows servers (2000 & XP).
Here is the problem : I have scheduled tasks that shutdown the db, then restart and dump it.
But for the 5th or 6th time in one month, I've found a stopped database in the morning
and the same error in the alert.log file :

After performing a "recover datafile", I can restart the database.
I don't understand what kind of process could lock a datafile in a db that has just been restarted...
It seems that this problem never happened before, but now I get this error every week o_O

I've found the source of the problem.
Actually everytime I got this problem, the datafile was locked by the backup software (DAT) during the night.

Any one noticed issues when UCM contributor data files indexing in GSA

Hi Guys,
We are using Google search appliance to crawl UCM content (native documents).
We don't have any issues with search results in this way. We are using dynamic converters to convert these documents into HTML in site studio web sites.
But we have plans to move to site studio contributor data files (XML format).
From your experience, any one noticed any issues in search results with UCM site studio contributor data files indexed by GSA.

Thanks for the reply. I would discard the first one, because
I already built the whole site using XML Data Sets, and the idea
from the start was to use my own Atom feed to update the site. But
the second one seems like a good choice, but I'm a bit puzzled. I
was already using Spry:content for the pages that don't index
correctly, putting them on an empty <span> tag so that they
hid unloaded references... could you elaborate on that second
choice, then, please?

Binding data when using xml data files

Hello,
I am pretty new to Flex4 and hope you hang on with my question. MAny thanks:
I built an application first with PHP connection into a database which essentially listed IP of my company in a grid.
One could filter the IP depending of technology, type of Ip and so on.
When clicking in the grid, the details with many more fileds would apprear. This was working niceley as I had my services defined and needed only to drag services in the right place and add here and there some changes in the code
Now, I wanted to do the same with an xml file instead of a mySQL database so to deploy it a little easier.
I have the grid and the filtering working nicely.
But I cannot create the data binding for the details.
Below is the code. See the line before last where I tested if I could access to the descriptipn fuield in my arrayCollection (coming from my xml)

the current XML export version is admittedly not suitable for handling HTML data, as it doesn´t put any data inside CDATA sections.
How can I strip out this HTML using the XML export?
I´m not aware of this functionality, but I´m sure it would have to be integrated into the respective "includes" files in order to become effective.
However, you might consider using the manual "converting database queries to XML" approach explained on this page: http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/spry/samples/utils/query2xml.html -- this will give you notably more freedom to e.g. preprocess some data before it´s getting stuffed inside an XML node.
I am pulling RSS feeds from news sites and storing the rss items in a database
Would it be possible to rather sanitize the data before it´s getting stored in the database ?

Why are byte order marks (BOM) in HTML files treated as a new line?

Really not much to add. The BOM is placed at the top of each file and is displayed as a line feed in the browser.

Let see I now get ending angle brackets every time I type in a variable for things like CFLOOP but it doesn't add the </CFLOOP> unless I first delete the > that it put in first. When it adds </CFLOOP> it is lower case even though I want it upper case. Weired thing is when the closing </CFQUERY> tag is addded it is upper case.
Can you guys just bring back HomeSite please??? That was a solid development environment that worked!!! Or should I just give up on CF??? After a decade plus of developing in CF I am getting close to never using it again!!! And this POS development environment is a big reason why!!! >:(

How can I fix a printing problem: message cannot print document: "no pages selected to print" when printing a pdf file.

I am having problems printing a pdf document. When I select a file to print and try to print it says that "no pages selected to print". The default all pages was selected by me but the message keeps coming up. I recently installed adobe reader version 11. Rebooted the computer but sitll having issues printing docs.

Yes, both of them lead to the very same error.
I have a workaround, kind of, where I preview the document and select all the pages that are correct (read showing on the pages preview) as included in the 1st screenshot.
As you can see in the first screenshot, the 5th page seems to be non-existandt, however as I try to preview it from the 3rdP software, it comes up just fine and from there I can print it individually... just annoying when you have 50 pages and 6 of then are randomly not showing up.
If I try to print the whole document, it simply gives me the 2nd, 3rd and 4th screenshots.
As for the 3rdP software, as stated in prior posts, it has been working flawlesly for the last 5 years, and has not been updated in any way, shape of form... As you said, maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea to look into that, however I don't believe the contract for the software maintenance is still in effect...

Import tracks in album order when viewing by Date Added

I've seen some older posts regarding this, but nothing recently. Here's my issue, and I can't believe more people aren't up in arms about it:
I keep iTunes sorted by Date Added, so that my latest stuff is at the top -- pretty normal for a music listener, right?
Say I have a folder of mp3s and I drag them into iTunes. For a long time in years past, even though you're dragging the entire album in, they would just get added in the order that iTunes wanted, rather than in album order. Then, at some point recently, I assume after an update to iTunes (?), they magically started being added in the correct order. I was really happy about this, as the random order entire albums were added in was extremely annoying.
Now something's happened and the old behavior is back.
Does anyone know how to drag an album's worth of mp3s into iTunes and have iTunes load them in in *album* order, so that when you view by Date Added, they show your album as it would look on the back of a cd or whatever, in the correct order?

This won't directly answer your question, but I find that if I make a playlist of the album, then they appear in the correct order in that playlist.

Writing to Multiple Data Files Only When selected?

I am building a system that is measuring the CO2 content of 12 vessels but only 1 CO2 gas analyzer. So, my system has a series of valves that only lets one valve open at time so that only one vessel is being measured at a time. What I would like to is have a measurement file for each vessel so I don't have to worry about determining which data came from each vessel. Also, I only want to write measurements to each file whenever its corresponding valve is turned on. The third thing I would like to do is to be able to read the data file and plot the trend data as the test is running. These test will run for 14 days. So what would you recommend to do this? Would you recommend using a Write to Measurement File Express VI, Write to Spreadsheet, Write to Text File, Write to XML?
Requirment Summary
1) File for each vessel
2) Only write data to file when corresponding valve is selected
3) Ability to read the data files and plot the trend data over time for the 14-day test.
I am using a Consumer/Producer design with two consumer loops one for processing and writing the data and the other to control a pump for a waterbath that was made inhouse.

This is such an open ended question...but I will give some advice.
If you plan on reading and writing to a file, dont use the write to measurement, you want to use the open/create/replace and close file functions. The particular file you write to can be either of those listed, but the text file will require all numeric values to be changed to strings, which is just more overhead to take care of. If I could recommend a type, it would be datalog files. They are great to organize your data. I don't see any reason to use XML. Do you want to be able to open and review this data later? Do Post-Analysis in Excel? Maybe write to spreadsheet is what you are looking for then.
Also, how fast are you gathering data? At high speed, maybe you want to use binary files. Downside is that you wouldn't be able to easily open the file for viewing outside of LabVIEW. For a 14 day test, make sure you have enough resources for your sampling rate, as any ASCII files, such as .txt, can grow large very fast depending on how you sample and how many digits you store.
For example, if we only store a 5 digit sample from one channel at 10 hz for 14 days:
5bytes/sample*10Samples/s*60s/min*60min/hour*24hour/day*14days = 60,480,000 bytes, or 60MB.
Are you wanting to show all of this data on a chart at once, and update live? This will use a lot of resources(RAM), but should be doable. I would obviously have to know more about your engineering requirements to make any more suggestions, just wanted to give you a feel for the ups and downs of some of your options. If you have the LabVIEW DSC module, then Citadel would be great for logging this data for you.

Byte order preferences when exporting?

Is there a preference/setting within Lightroom that allows for the choice of byte order when exporting tiffs?
When I open a raw image (CR2) in lightroom I need to export it as a tiff, with IBM PC byte order preference.
When I export using an intel mac, the results are always IBM PC byte order. (Yay!)
However, when exporting files on a non-intel G5 mac, the tiffs are always exported with a mac byte order... meaning that I then have to open the file in photoshop, navigate to "save as" and re-save the file with the correct byte order selected.
I would love to find a way to get around this extra step...

see there are in total 10 prog that should go in one trasport order. this will creat data file and co file. these are flat files. i want these flat files.
do it in developement server or testing server and then delete it or revert it once you get data file or co file.
i will greatful to u if you could send me these flat files.

IPhoto Library: Data Files

Does anyone know how to access the actual data files with the photos in the finder as in previous versions of iPhoto?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
What specifically are you trying to do? When you say "data files" do you mean your pics? Or the library database files? Or the thumbnails in the /Data folder?
With iPhoto 7 (iLife 08) the old iPhoto Library Folder is now a Unix Style Package File. The change was made to the format of the iPhoto library because many users were inadvertently corrupting their library by browsing through it with other software or making changes in it themselves.
There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:
For 10.5 users: You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Apple-Click for selecting multiple pics.

To upload to a site that does not have an iPhoto Export Plug-in the recommended way is to Select the Pic in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export and export the pic to the desktop, then upload from there. After the upload you can trash the pic on the desktop. It's only a copy and your original is safe in iPhoto.
This is also true for emailing with Web-based services. If you're using Gmail you can use THIS
If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
Or, if you want to access the files with iPhoto not running, then create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use THIS
Other options include:
1. *Drag and Drop*: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
2. *File -> Export*: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
3. *Show File*: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.
You can set Photoshop (or any image editor) as an external editor in iPhoto. (Preferences -> General -> Edit Photo: Choose from the Drop Down Menu.) This way, when you double click a pic to edit in iPhoto it will open automatically in Photoshop or your Image Editor, and when you save it it's sent back to iPhoto automatically. This is the only way that edits made in another application will be displayed in iPhoto.

Remove Windows 8 users but keep data files

i am preparing upgrade from win8 to 8.1
all users are defaulted at another drive (d drive), not system drive
so i have to remove all the users in order to have upgrade without a need for clean reinstallation
this requirement make me (other system admin in the world) very troublesome
i have to be very careful when dealing user data files.
in official way, the user is deleted and all his files are deleted too.
is it possible to keep the user data files? the files size may be over 2xxG.
i do not wish to copy files before removal of user account. it wastes lots of time.
i tried to rename the user profile folder and remove user registry under profilelist registry.
it seems not Ok. any suggestion please. Thanks.

Hi,
As far as I know, if you have changed User folder location to other drive, you may encounter problem during upgrade Windows 8 to Windows 8.1. It is probably upgrade failed.
Actually, I still suggest you make a back up for your User Profile then upgrade your system. Or if Windows upgrade is unnecessary, I would like you keep using Windows 8 to avoid potential problem.

Is there a way to get Indesign data into a data file?

I am updating a catalog in InDesign. I would like to be able to get all of the data in the catalog in an external data file. This data file would have to be searchable, reportable and shareable. In essence I have customers who want access to the data for their web sites - some want all the data and some want only selected pieces. When I say data, I mean the pictures and all the text boxes too. Help!!!!

There are several plugins like smart catalog or easy catalog, but also others, which are linking InDesign content to a database, some in both directions, which means, changes done in InDesign are written to the DB and the other way too.

Unable to delete data files from my Ipod if used as data storage...

Hello everybody
I bought months ago an Ipod Nano 8GB. I've got an issue when i use it as disk storage i'm not able to sort out. I've checked all the topics but i cannot find any solution.
Example: I use the Ipod with the option "Manually manage music and videos". I put audio and video files on my Ipod through Itunes, then i put also some files on my Ipod as normal data files through my Mac Finder (Easy, i drag VLC, JPG files etc. from folders to my Ipod). The Ipod/Itunes summary page shows (Correctly) the capacity column colored in blue (Audio), video (Purple) and orange (Data). No probs when i transfer data files to another computer.
Problem: when i delete the data files from my Ipod (Through finder) the orange column doesn't disappear (I have no problems if i delete audio/video files via Itunes) and although i've actually deleted all the files if i try to add some other data or videos/music files to my Ipod, Itunes says that there is no space available in my device. It's very strange, i check and double check all the options but eventually i have to restore my Ipod all the times and (Pretty annoying) add all my files again.
It seems that although i sent my files to the trash bin, Itunes (Fully updated) doesn't recognize the change.
It'd be great if someone can help me out as it's very important for me to be able to use my Ipod as disk storage, thanks a lot!

Empty it from the Finder menu or by control-clicking it in the Dock.
