Select,delete in MS ACcess using RMI

Hi,
I am using RMI in order to remotely connect to an MS Access database
But when executing the following
Statement stmt_access;
String res1_access = "DELETE FROM CUSTOMERS WHERE cid='"+CID+"' ";
stmt_access.executeUpdate(res1_access);
I am getting the error
data type mismatch in criteria...
Does anyone know if there is something in my statement?
CID is a String and cid is a defined as a Text field in Access database.
I should mention that the same statement works fine in Oracle.
Is there any difference in the syntax of select and delete statements in MS Access?Because I suppose that the error is in thw where clause(in insert statements i don't have problems)
I would be greatfull if someone has an idea...

Seems to be some confusion in the above.
You need to post the exact statements that are causing the problem.
For your code the way to produce those is by using System.out.println() on the line before you use it. That does not mean by guessing or by printing it out twenty lines before.
And the create statement is the one that you used to create the database, again not just a guess on your part correct?
Keep in mind that if you do not get a SQLException then it means all of the SQL is executing correctly, but something is wrong with the data (or your presumptions about the data) which is the problem.

  • Selectively deleting load from ODS using Process Chain

    Hi All,
    I have a requirement in which I have to delete the last load of the current month if any and leave the load of the last month untouched which has to be done using process chain.
    I will try to elaborate the condition required like say we have a data for June in the ODS already (date 10) and when the load for July will come it will not touch the June data but on 2 July the load of first July will be deleted without touching the load from June 10. (The PC will run for the first 10 days of the month).
    How can this be implemented, There seems to be some FM for this but are there any other method by which the same can be implemented without much use of ABAP.
    Any relevant suggestion would be awarded points
    Regards,
    Samved

    Hi Bhanu,
    Thanks for the reply.
    I tried to generate the program but that can be used for selective deletion from the ODS i think soo.
    But my requirement is basically to delete the complete request from the ODS and not any selective deletion and at the same time I cannot use the complete deletion option as that will delete the request from the last month also.
    Are there any optioin at the level of Info package which can be used for these type of deletion.

  • Can't selectively delete image datatype BLOB data on SQL Server

    Hi all,
    I have a huge amount of BLOB data on an SQL Server 2008 DB (10.0.5500), in a table with an image datatype column. I need to selectively delete it from datafiles using a where filter on the table.
    I tried to use UPDATETEXT dbo.TBL_EMAILOUTBOUND_DSC.DESC_RAWDATA
    @ptrval 0 NULL;
    loading the pointer with a previous filtered select, according
    documentation it should work, but it's not true. Do I make any mistake or forget something? If you need I can show the hole script.

  • Deleting a MS Access database table record using JOptionPane

    hi!
    just want some help here..
    is there a way to delete a MS Access database record through using JOptionPane?? i've gone through some, probably alot of examples on SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE statements but none came up to the stuff i need.
    so far i've seen the DELETE statement like this and also this is a common DELETE statement..
    statement.executeUpdate("DELETE FROM tableName WHERE fieldName01 = 'blablabla' AND fieldName02 = 'etcetcetc'");like INSERT, there's a coding somewhat like this:
    String asd = JOptionPane.showInputDialog(null, "Enter blablabla stuff");
    statement.executeUpdate("INSERT INTO whatEverTableName (tableFieldName) VALUES('"+asd.getText()+"')");so, is it possible using the same method for DELETE??
    help and advices are appreciated in advanced..

    Here's how I did it. Research does help, but sometimes looking at others code does too... You do have to have a dummy file that you made with access though. You can't just make a file file.mdb (it will be corrupt)
         public void createDatabase(String database) throws SQLException{
              try{
                   // This file needs to have been created with MS Access
                   File dbfile = new File(this.dataBaseDir + "dummy.mdb");
                   // This is the new database file being made
                   File newFile = new File(this.dataBaseDir + database + ".mdb");
                   // Copy all bytes from dummy file to new DB file.
                   FileInputStream instream = new FileInputStream(dbfile);
                   FileOutputStream ostream = new FileOutputStream(newFile);
                   int numBytes = instream.available();
                   byte inBytes[] = new byte[numBytes];
                   instream.read(inBytes, 0, numBytes);
                   ostream.write(inBytes, 0, numBytes);
              catch(FileNotFoundException e) { e.printStackTrace();}
              catch(IOException e) { e.printStackTrace();}
              if(DEBUG) System.out.println("creating the " + database + " database");
         }

  • "Command-i" which was so useful in being able to selectively delete messages from the servers no longer works. Is their a replacement? Will it be fixed? Or should I change my mail application?

    "Command-i" which was so useful for selectively deleting messages from servers has disappeared in  Maverick. I wonder if it has been replaced by something else or should I look into other mail applications.

    Hmmm.  Which Mail program are you referring to?
    in Mac Mail command -i used to bring up the Account info pane on the server  (10.8.5)
    Now it seems you have to use the gear at the bottom in "Mail Activity" to get the drop down (10.9) :

  • Select records from MS Access tables using multiple conditions

    Hi,
    I am trying to build s select list of team names for a
    sporting club website. The select list should include teams if the
    currently logged in user is a coach, team manager, assistant coach,
    player or a parent of a player.
    When I have only one group of conditions in the where clause
    it works fine. But that only accounts for one of the above roles.
    As soon as I ad an OR and another set of criteria my CF7 server's
    swsoc.exe goes into an permanent loop (well, at least 10 minutes, I
    reboot after that :-)
    For example, this works fine ...
    <!--- select teams I coach, assistant coach, manage, am a
    parent of a player, or am a player --->
    <cfquery name="teams"
    Datasource="#Application.Datasource#">
    SELECT distinct teams.uid_team, team_name, uid_coach,
    uid_team_manager, uid_coordinator, team_asst
    from teams, player_agegroups, players
    where
    (player_agegroups.uid_team=teams.uid_team and
    players.uid_user=player_agegroups.uid_user
    and teams.uid_season=#session.season# and
    players.uid_invoice_to=#session.userid#)
    Order by team_name
    </cfquery>
    But as soon as I add another condition cf7 goes into a
    loop...
    <!--- select teams I coach, assistant coach, manage, am a
    parent of a player, or am a player --->
    <cfquery name="teams"
    Datasource="#Application.Datasource#">
    SELECT distinct teams.uid_team, team_name, uid_coach,
    uid_team_manager, uid_coordinator, team_asst
    from teams, player_agegroups, players
    where
    (player_agegroups.uid_team=teams.uid_team and
    players.uid_user=player_agegroups.uid_user
    and teams.uid_season=#session.season# and
    players.uid_invoice_to=#session.userid#) or
    (player_agegroups.uid_team=teams.uid_team and
    players.uid_user=player_agegroups.uid_user
    and teams.uid_season=#session.season# and
    players.uid_user=#session.userid#) or
    (player_agegroups.uid_team=teams.uid_team and
    players.uid_user=player_agegroups.uid_user
    and teams.uid_season=#session.season# and
    teams_uid_coach=#session.userid#) or
    (player_agegroups.uid_team=teams.uid_team and
    players.uid_user=player_agegroups.uid_user
    and teams.uid_season=#session.season# and
    teams.team_asst=#session.userid#) or
    (player_agegroups.uid_team=teams.uid_team and
    players.uid_user=player_agegroups.uid_user
    and teams.uid_season=#session.season# and
    teams.uid_team_manager=#session.userid#)
    Order by team_name
    </cfquery>
    Any combination hangs CF7, whether it be two, three or all
    conditions, and any combination of conditions..
    The teams table stores team name, coach, team manager,
    assistant coach and coordinator. Players table stores the player
    records, and the parent (uid_invoice_to), is part of the player
    record. player agegroups has the teams, with a record for each
    player in a team. The whole system is based around seasons, hence
    the #session.season# variable.
    What should happen is I get a very short list of teams. When
    I select a team from the select list I then go and grab all the
    player records from the player_agegroups table joined to the users
    table to get their names, date of birth etc...
    Can anyone see what I am doing wrong?
    thanks
    Tanya

    You might try to change your query using a SQL JOIN command,
    so you can link the appropriate tables independently from the WHERE
    selection criteria. You could use Access to create the query and
    then go to the SQL command view to get the correct synyax.

  • Selective Deletion using 0REQUID & Date fields in combination

    We are running SAP NetWeaver 2004s patch 15 I have tried to run a selective deletion with request ID and date fields but we are getting an SQL error.  The cube is compressed but the requests I am after have not been compressed.  Is this an activity I should be able to do?  I have checked SAP messages and found one but it was for version much older than ours  below is the error message I recieve in the Job Log.
    Job started
    Step 001 started (program RSINDEX1, variant &0000000000098, user ID BROWNAW)
    SQL: 2010/12/16 15:06:21
    CREATE TABLE "/BI0/0100000703" (DIMID INTEGER
    NOT NULL) IN CMC#BTAB
    SQL-END: 2010/12/16 15:06:21 00:00:00
    SQL: 2010/12/16 15:06:21
    insert into "/BI0/0100000703" SELECT DISTINCT
    DIMID FROM "/BIC/DZFIGL_STGP" WHERE (
    "DIM"."SID_0REQUID" =  109126
    SQL Error: SQL0206N  "DIM.SID_0REQUID" is not valid in the co ntext where it is used
    SQL-END: 2010/12/16 15:06:21 00:00:00
    System error: CREATE_TABLE_AS_SELECT/RSDU_EXEC_SQL /BI0/0100000703 206-
    Job cancelled after system exception ERROR_MESSAGE

    Thanks for the quick response.  I have validated that the data ranges do exist for the requests.  Part of our process is to use the same selection to output the data before the deletion is ran so we can validate the number of records that are purged and have a backup of the data in case another issue is discovered at a later date.
    When I run this seleciton for output I get over 30k records.  Unfortunately I cannot just blow away the requests as most contain data that needs to remain.  As well as we use this as a source for delta records that come from multiple sources so the logistics of resetting the delta indicator on the requests and not screwing up other delta's is a big risk.  If I should be able to run a selective deletion with request I am hoping SAP can respond with a fix to the issue.

  • Selective Deletion From Cube and ODS using Process chain

    Hi all,
    is there any way that i can include selective deletion in a process chain, there is no stand process types for selective deletion, I need to delete the closed items from cube and ods and i need to schedule this??? any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Shetty.

    Shetty,
    You can delete Data from this using One custom Program. You need to use either RSDRD_SEL_DELETION(function module ) or RSDRD_BUILD_REPORT_FOR_BATCH(Function Module). there is a parameter in above  functioen modules I_THX_SEL which needs to be populated using selections.
    or
    You need to schedule the Background job from Manage screen on Monthly Basis(Provided that selection should be fixed in every month).
    I will update the thread with psudo code.
    all the best.

  • Accessing Remote PC Using RMI

    Hello friends.
    We have developed an Explorer(Windows style) Using RMI which can browse any client computer (shared/non shared).
    It works quite well but we have some problem like not all file/folders
    are accessible(though they are visible).
    All those interested can help me out.
    Source with details are available at
    geocities.com/dev.sushant/rmi

    As Bob rightly says you may have a problem if the machine you are trying to access is on a corporate network as you will need the permission and help of the network administrator to achieve this.
    I assume from your post that there is not a VPN connection set up on the remote PC network. Assuming that you have access to the router on the remote network then you will need to set up portforwarding on it at some point so I suggest you go to this page and see if your router is listed as you will need some instructions if you don't use the software suggested by Bob.
    When accessing a remote machine, PC or Mac, I have always used a secure connection to do so and the alternative to a VPN is an SSH tunnel. Unfortunately unlike the Mac Windows doesn't come with SSH server software installed so if you want to go down this route you will have to install and configure this first. I haven't tried this on Windows 7 yet but I have been successful on Windows XP and there are plenty of sites with instructions on how to set this up like this one here. Once the SSH server is set up on the PC and port 22 on your remote router has been forwarded then you can set up a SSH tunnel in the same way as described in my post in this thread http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=10847513&#10847513

  • HT4859 If I select 'delete' backup.  Can I ever access it again, and does delete on all my deviices?

    IF I select delet back in iCloud management and on a particular item that I may want to look at again in the distant future, can I ever access it again.?  And does it delete on all devises it was showing up on?  Thanks so much for any help

    If you delete an iCloud backup it is permanently deleted from your iCloud account.  After that it will no longer appear on any of your devices and you wouldn't be able to access it again.

  • How to access streaming vedio from server using RMI

    Hello please provide me the solution
    i have one vedio file in remote system and i want to import it to my local system using RMI after that i have to control it like vedio player.This entire application should be developed in struts.
    please give me a basic idea how to approch and wht r the files i need to import and is there any classes available to control the remote streaming vedio.

    If you are using Struts then you are in a web environment. So there is no RMI for the client (browser), it is just HTTP.
    About streaming video take a look at JMF (Java Media Framework). And if you are over HTTP you can use something like this to embed your video streaming:

    DEV : 29/04/03 : commit

    sure - I don't get any exception. the data just
    doesn't show in the DB. (no updating/deletion of
    records)
    as I wrote before - when the the programm commits the
    changes and does the next select command it seems as
    if the data was changed/deleted but if I check the DB
    with access or if I restart the prgoram then I see
    that the data didn't change.
    Access/jdbc-odbc has a problem where modifications are not 'commited' when the statement completes. Instead one must do one of the following:
    1. Explicit commit.
    2. Simple select after statement.
    3. Close the connection.
    Presumably you are doing 1.
    Since other than this it does work, it suggests one of the following.
    1. Something is wrong with your environment. For instance you are looking at the wrong database. Or not refreshing. Or something else like that.
    2. You are using something besides a simple connection - like opening it with 'scroll insensitive'.
    3. The complexity is causing it to lose an error message. This can be tested by doing each statement individually and verify that none produce an error.
    4. Maybe you found a bug. You can turn on ODBC tracing via the applet panel and see if digging through all of the detail provides any clues (you can also do this with 3 above.)

    I'm suddenly unable to join my Airport network with my PowerBook G4.  I am able to access my network with all of my other devices.  How can I once again establish access using my PowerBook G4?

    Bruce777 solved this for me, thank you Bruce! My printer now works perfectly on my new wifi network!
    Bruce's  instructions, for anyone else having the same issue:
    - delete any previously set up printers
    - scrub old hp software and update software to get the hp 2.8 drivers
    - remove the usb cable from the printer if you have one connected
    - reset the printer network to hpsetup (hold down the power button and press network button 2x and then cancel 3x, release power button.)
    - print out the wireless network test report (hold down the network button and press the update button 2x). verify the network name / ssid is hsetup
    - got to sys prefs > network and change the mac wireless network to hpsetup
    - go to the sys pref > print scan
    - add the HP 8000 printer
    - click on the options and supplies button and click on the Show Printer Webpage
    - click on the networking tab > wireless in the left pane > start network wizard and change the network from hpsetup to your network
    - finish (this page may freeze up.  close the browser)
    - go back to the sys prefs and change the wireless network back to your networt
    - go to the printer and print out the wireless network test report (press network button and update button 2x).  Check that the SSID is your network
    - go to sys prefs > print scan > select your printer > options & supplies > show printer webpage > network info (check ssid and compare to wireless network test report)
    - try printing something to your printer.  It might take a little time the first print.

  • Should I be using RMI

    Hi,
    Two questions really:
    1) Should I be using RMI
    2) If so how much of the program should use RMI
    I am about to start building a database driven application. However, I am unsure whether to make it 2-tier not using RMI or 3-tier using RMI.
    The various different clients all need to add,update and delete things in the database which will be done over JDBC. However, all the clients also need to be notified of certain activities taking place on any of the other clients, for instance if one client adds a record the other clients need to be informed of this.
    I assume that the broadcasting of the these messages to the listening clients would need to be done using RMI or some other distributed systems technology. Is this a correct assumption?
    However, when one of the clients does a query on the database should this be done directly, bypassing the servers. I was thinking this as passing record sets from the database server to the application server and then onto the client applicaiton would result in significant network traffic. Therefore, I assume, that for the other parts of the applicaiton which don't involve the broadcasting of information to all the clients I should just make the database connections within the client programs and connect directly to the database. Is this also a correct assumption?
    Any comments on this would be much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance
    Robert Miles

    Here's the approach that my company took for a database-centered set of applications.
    We wanted multi-user access, and we wanted an object interface, because there is substantial application logic that we preferred to put on the server.
    The design we created uses
    o apiobjects, which are held by clients, and which in turn simply hold references to
    o apiserver objects, which belong to a client session, and which in turn simply hold references to
    o dbobjects, which belong to the system, and represent the database data being used by one or more active clients.
    Note that in this design, RMI is hidden in the apiobjects. It is important, but not to the client, whether or not the apiobject holds real data, or accesses the server and returns the data.
    One other note about this architecture: The data is organized into an object tree. The top of the tree is an "entry" object which the client instantiates and uses to log in; the login returns a "server" object, which is the root for accessing all other objects.
    For event notification we ask the client to define an event manager, and tell the "server" about it. (There are also some fairly extensive filter definition capabilities.) On the server side, and event manager, when told about an event, searches the sessions for managers to be notified, and notifies them by calling a method on the event manager.
    What about other applications accessing the DB? Well we are still discussing this.
    o One consideration I can think of is locking. If all your locking can be convincingly consigned to the DBMS, then maybe you can implement a completely-separate access path.
    o Another consideration - one not necessarily shared by my colleagues - is that the boundaries around applications are not always rigid, and the first time a new application crosses the RMI-vs_other boundary, well you'll have some work to redo.
