Select statement in a BADI method

Hello All,
I want to put a select statement on table CRMD_ORDERADM_I in the PREPARE method of ORDER_SAVEbadi implementation where in I get a syntax error of the table not defined. How do i get over this..
helpfull answers will be rewarded..
Thanks in advance,
Smita

Hi,
I dont think you should face any problem in acessing these database tables inside your BADI.
Even if you are facing some problem declare these tables before your code as below.
TABLES : CRMD_ORDERADM_I.
But it should work even without declaring.
Hope this helps

  • Commit statement in badi method

    hi all,
    i am using commit statement in badi method save_data, it is put after function module,
    in function module i have used insert and update statement, if i do like that then the commit statement refresh the global data but update the table,
    if i create one perform inside function module and put commit statement in that perform, then it shows message update was terminated,
    i also want the global data for processing thats why i can't use commit statement after FM in method, please give Suggestion,
    Points will be awarded.

    Hi,
    sounds as if you call that FM in update task. Update function modules do not allow all actions. They should only include the neccessary SQL statements and must include any COMMIT.
    For more information read SAPDOCU of COMMIT WORK and everything of SAPS update concept (start immed. V1, start delayed V2 and so on).
    ATTENTION. Most BADIs designed to save customers data may be used several times and standard data may be saved after them. To avoid inconsistent data inside those BADIs normally no COMMIT should be done.
    Kind regards,
    HP

  • Optimizing a Select Statement

    Hi,
    I have recently been asked to generate a program that reports of payroll postings to FI.  This involves creating a giant select statement from the ppoix table to gather all the postings.  My select statement is as follows:
      SELECT pernr                       "EE Number
             seqno                       "Sequential number
             actsign                     "Indicator: Status of record
             runid                       "Number of posting run
             postnum                     "Number
             tslin                       "Line number of data transfer
             lgart                       "Wage Type
             betrg                       "Amount
            waers                       "Currency
            anzhl                       "Number
            meins                       "Base unit of measure
             spprc         "Special processing of posting items
            momag         "Transfer to FI/CO:EE grouping for acct determi
            komok         "Transfer to FI/CO: Symbolic account
            mcode                       "Matchcode search term
            koart                       "Account assignment type
            auart                       "Expenditure type
            nofin         "Indicator: Expenditure type is not funded
               INTO CORRESPONDING FIELDS OF TABLE i_ppoix
               FROM ppoix
               FOR ALL ENTRIES IN run_doc_xref
               WHERE runid  = run_doc_xref-runid
                 AND tslin  = run_doc_xref-linum
                 AND spprc  <> 'A'
                 AND lgart IN s_lgart
                 AND pernr in s_pernr.
    where s_pernr is a select option that holds personnel nummbers and s_lgart is a select option that holds wagetypes.  This statement works fine for a certain amount of personnel numbers and a certain amount of wagetypes, but once you exceed a certain limit the Database does not allow you to perform a select statement this large.  Is there a better way to perform such a large select such as this one) ie: FM, or some other method I am not aware of.  This select statement comes from the standard SAP delivered cost center admin report and this report dumps as well when too much data is passed to it.
    any ideas would be much appreciated.
    thanks.

    The problem here is with the select-options.
    For a select statement, you cannot have more that certain amount of data.
    The problem with your select becomes complex because of the FOR ALL ENTRIES in and the huge s_pernr and the 40 million records :(.
    I am guessing that the s_lgart will be small.
    How many entries do you have in internal table "run_doc_xref"?
    If there are not that many, then I would suggest this:
    TYPES:
      BEGIN OF ty_temp_ppoix,
       pernr   TYPE ppoix-pernr,
       lgart   TYPE ppoix-lgart,
       seqno   TYPE ppoix-seqno,
       actsign TYPE ppoix-actsign,
       runid   TYPE ppoix-runid,
       postnum TYPE ppoix-postnum,
       tslin   TYPE ppoix-tslin,
       betrg   TYPE ppoix-betrg,
       spprc   TYPE ppoix-spprc,
      END OF ty_temp_ppoix.
    DATA:
    i_temp_ppoix TYPE SORTED TABLE OF ty_temp_ppoix
       WITH NON-UNIQUE KEY pernr lgart
       INITIAL SIZE 0
       WITH HEADER LINE.
    DATA:
      v_pernr_lines TYPE sy-tabix,
      v_lgart_lines TYPE sy-tabix.
    IF NOT run_doc_xref[] IS INITIAL.
      DESCRIBE TABLE s_pernr LINES v_pernr_lines.
      DESCRIBE TABLE s_lgart LINES v_lgart_lines.
      IF v_pernr_lines GT 800 OR
         v_lgart_lines GT 800.
    * There is an index on runid and tslin. This should be ok
    * ( still bad because of the huge table :(  )
        SELECT pernr lgart seqno actsign runid postnum tslin betrg spprc
    * Selecting into sorted TEMP table here
          INTO TABLE i_temp_ppoix
          FROM ppoix
          FOR ALL ENTRIES IN run_doc_xref
          WHERE runid = run_doc_xref-runid
          AND   tslin = run_doc_xref-linum
          AND   spprc <> 'A'.
    * The sorted table should make the delete faster
        DELETE i_temp_ppoix WHERE NOT pernr IN s_pernr
                            AND   NOT lgart IN s_lgart.
    * Now populate the actual target
        LOOP AT i_temp_ppoix.
          MOVE: i_temp_ppoix-pernr TO i_ppoix-pernr.
    *  and the rest of the fields
          APPEND i_ppoix.
          DELETE i_temp_ppoix.
        ENDLOOP.
      ELSE.

    * Selecting into your ACTUAL target here

          AND   pernr IN s_pernr
          AND   lgart IN s_lgart.
      ENDIF.
    ELSE.
    * Error message because of no entries in run_doc_xref?
    * Please answer this so a new solution can be implemented here
    * if it is NOT an error
    ENDIF.
    Hope this helps.

  • Selected state in selectBooleanCheckbox

    Hi,
    I'm currently working with ADF BC and I'm trying to set the selected state of a selectBooleanCheckbox. The attribute in the database has 2 values: Y (checked) and N (not checked).
    I had 2 possible solutions:
    1. Use EL to determine true or false in the selected attribute of the tag:
    <af:selectBooleanCheckbox value="#{row.ActiveFlag=='N'?false:true}"
    id="selectBooleanCheckbox3"/>
    2. Create a new method in the entity implemenation class which returns true or false, depending on the value of the ActiveFlag (string):
    public boolean getConvertedActiveFlag() {
    if(this.getAttributeInternal(ACTIVEFLAG).equals("N")) {
    return false;
    return true;
    Now the problem :)
    Option 1 works but the checkbox is readOnly (setting readOnly=false does not work)
    Option 2 wont work at all.
    Anybody advise?
    Thx in advance!
    Koen

    Hi Frank,
    my bad .. I was using #{row.ActiveFlag=='N'?false:true on the selected property instead of the value but without success.
    Is this a bug?

  • A trouble with "LIKE" in a select statement

    Hi!
    I'm having trouble with "LIKE" in a select statement...
    With Access I can make the following and everything works well:
    SELECT name, birthday
    FROM client
    WHERE birthday LIKE '*/02/*';
    but if try to do it in my application (it uses Access), it doesn't work - I just can't understand that!!!
    In my application the "month" is always the currently month taken from the "System". Look what I'm doing...
    String query1 = "SELECT name, birthday " +
              "FROM client " +
              "WHERE birthday " +
              "LIKE '*/" +
              pMonth +
              "/*' " +
              "ORDER BY birthday ASC ";
    ResultSet rs = statement1.executeQuery(consulta1);
    boolean moreRecords = rs.next();
    The variable "moreRecords" is always "false", the query returns nothing although the table "client" has records that attend the query.
    Please, anyone can help me?! It's a little bit urgent.
    Thanks,
    Katia.

    Hi Katia,
    I'll bet the problem lies with the characters you're using to escape the LIKE clause. You're using the ones that Access likes to see, but that's not necessarily what's built into the JDBC-ODBC driver class.
    You can find out what the correct escape wildcard characters are from the java.sql.DatabaseMetaData.getSearchStringEscape() method. It'll tell you what to use in the LIKE clause.
    I'm not 100% sure about your code. It doesn't use query1 anywhere. I'd do this:
    String query = "SELECT name, birthday FROM client WHERE birthday LIKE ? ORDER BY birthday ASC";
    PreparedStatement statement = connection.createStatement(query);
    String escape = connection.getMetaData().getSearchStringEscape();
    String test = escape + '/' + pMonth + '/' + escape;
    statement.setString(1, test);
    ResultSet rs = statement.executeQuery();
    while (rs.hasNext())
    // load your data into a data structure to pass back.
    rs.close();
    statement.close();Let me know if that works. - MOD

  • Limitation on SQL executing select statement from ADO and Oracle 8.1.7.1 OleDB Driver

    Hi,
    we are running a query with a big dunamic select statement from VB code using ADO command object. When Execute method is called system hangs and control won't return back to the application. it seems to be that there is some type limitation on Query string length. Please tell us if there is any?
    we are running Oracle 8.1.7 Server on Windows 200 Server and connecting from a W2K professional, ADO 2.6 and Oracle OLEDB 8.1.7.1 OLEDB Driver.
    Sample code:
    Dim rs As ADODB.Recordset
    Dim cmd As ADODB.Command
    Set cmd = New Command
    With cmd
    .CommandText = ' some text with more than 2500 characters
    .CommandType = adCmdText
    Set rs = .Execute
    End With
    when i debug using VB6 and when .Execute line is called system hangs or return a message method <<somemethod> of <<some class name>> failed error.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Anil

    A stored procedure would only slow you down here if it was poorly written. I suspect you want to use the translate function. I'm cutting & pasting examples from the documentation-- a search at tahiti.oracle.com will give you all the info you'll need.
    Examples
    The following statement translates a license number. All letters 'ABC...Z' are translated to 'X' and all digits '012 . . . 9' are translated to '9':
    SELECT TRANSLATE('2KRW229',
    '0123456789ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ',
    '9999999999XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX') "License"
    FROM DUAL;
    License
    9XXX999
    The following statement returns a license number with the characters removed and the digits remaining:
    SELECT TRANSLATE('2KRW229',
    '0123456789ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ', '0123456789')
    "Translate example"
    FROM DUAL;
    Translate example
    2229
    Also, LIKE '%<string>%' is going to be rather expensive simply because it has to compare the entire string and because it forces full table scans, rather than using indexes. You could speed this sort of query up by using interMedia Text (Oracle Text now in 9i). If you can eliminate one of the '%' options, you could also improve things.
    My guess is that your stored procedure is inefficient and that's causing the problem-- 5k rows per table should be pretty trivial.
    If you post your query over on the PL/SQL forum, there are better performance tuners than I that might have more hints for you. To get really good advice, though, you'lllikely have to get at least the execution plan for this statement and may need to do some profiling to identify the problem areas.

    Nice point there Siegfried. Instead of giving constructive suggestion, people here give a very bad suggestion on using SELECT SINGLE combined with SUM and GROUP BY.
    I hope the person already look at your reply before he try using select single and wondering why he has error.
    Anyway, the most important thing is how many loop expected for those select statements?
    If you have like thousands of loop, you can expect a poor performance.
    So, you should also look at how many times the select statement is called and not only performance for each select statement when you're doing SQL trace.

  • Print alv report directly to spool  from a badi method

    Hallo !
    I am trying to save a log in spool on converting process
    I am doing on Idoc data in Method of Badi implementation
    (badi : HRALE00OUTBOUND_IDOC).
    The spool request is created but the list there contains
    no data.
    Here is the code I put in the badi method :
    DATA: LS_PRINT      TYPE  SLIS_PRINT_ALV,
          LV_REPID      LIKE SY-REPID,
          LS_LAYOUT     TYPE SLIS_LAYOUT_ALV,
          LT_FIELDCAT TYPE SLIS_T_FIELDCAT_ALV,
          LS_FIELDCAT LIKE LINE OF LT_FIELDCAT.
      LV_REPID  = SY-REPID.
    SET LS_LAYOUT :
      CLEAR LS_LAYOUT.
    SET LS_PRINT :
      CLEAR LS_PRINT.
      LS_PRINT-PRINT = 'N'.
    SET LT_FIELDCAT :
      REFRESH LT_FIELDCAT.
      CLEAR LS_FIELDCAT.
      LS_FIELDCAT-FIELDNAME = 'MESSAGE'.
      LS_FIELDCAT-SELTEXT_L = 'MES'.
      APPEND LS_FIELDCAT TO LT_FIELDCAT.
    CREATE LOG IN SPOOL :
      SY-BATCH = 'X'.
      CALL FUNCTION 'REUSE_ALV_LIST_DISPLAY'
        EXPORTING
          I_CALLBACK_PROGRAM      = LV_REPID
          IS_LAYOUT               = LS_LAYOUT
          IT_FIELDCAT            = LT_FIELDCAT[]
          I_DEFAULT                    = 'X'
          I_SAVE                       = 'X'
          IS_PRINT                = LS_PRINT
        TABLES
          T_OUTTAB                = PT_LOG[]
        EXCEPTIONS
          PROGRAM_ERROR           = 1
          OTHERS                  = 2.
      IF SY-SUBRC <> 0.
    MESSAGE ID SY-MSGID TYPE SY-MSGTY NUMBER SY-MSGNO
            WITH SY-MSGV1 SY-MSGV2 SY-MSGV3 SY-MSGV4.
      ENDIF.
    I have to remark that when I call this code in
    an ABAP-PI function the log is created successfully in spool.
    But here I call it from a method of IDOC Badi exit -
    and the list is empty ....
    The two cases are in processes that run in batch ...
    Maybe ALV function can't be called from a method ?
    Maybe I should use Object-Oriented ALV ?
    Or maybe I fill the ALV function parameters in a wrong way  ?
    I really appreciate your help ,
    Thanks in advance -
      Nitzan S.

    Hey,
    I am not sure if from the ALV list the SPOOL will be created properly. You said the spool is created but the spool is empty.
    A Work around could be create a classical report with WRITE statements and then SUBMIT that report exporting the list into memory or you can even read the spool then.

    Ravi

    Thanks Billy, Would you be able to suggest any other faster method to load the data into table. Thanks,
    As Mark responded - it all depends on the actual data to load, structure and source/origin. On my busiest database, I am loading on average 30,000 rows every second from data in external files.
    However, the data structures are just that - structured. Logical.
    Having a data structure with 100's of fields (columns in a SQL table), raise all kinds of questions about how sane that structure is, and what impact it will have on a physical data model implementation.
    There is a gross misunderstanding by many when it comes to performance and scalability. The prime factor that determines performance is not how well you code, what tools/language you use, the h/w your c ode runs on, or anything like that. The prime factor that determines perform is the design of the data model - as it determines the complexity/ease to use the data model, and the amount of I/O (the slowest of all db operations) needed to effectively use the data model.

  • How to add a dummy row in the result set of a SELECT statement.

    Hello Everyone -
    I have requirment to add a dummy row in the result set of a SELECT statement.
    For e.g. lets say there is a table Payment having following colums:
    Payment_id number
    status varchar2(10)
    amount number
    payment_date date
    so here is the data :-
    Payment_id Status Amount payment_date
    1 Applied 100 12/07/2008
    2 Reversed 200 01/ 06/2009
    3 Applied 300 01/ 07/2009
    Here is my SQL
    Select * form payment where payment_date >= 01/01/2009
    Output will be
    2 Reversed 200 01/ 06/2009
    3 Applied 300 01/ 07/2009
    My desired output is below
    2 Reversed 200 01/ 06/2009
    3 Applied 300 01/ 07/2009
    2 Reversed -200 01/ 06/2009 ------(Dummy Row)
    Thrid row here is the dummy row which I want to add when status is "Reversed"
    I would be very thankful for any kind of help in this regard ...
    Thanks,
    Gaurav

    Cartesion joining against a dummy table is a useful method of creating a dummy row:
    with my_tab as (select 1 cust_id, 1 Payment_id, 'Applied' Status, 100 Amount, to_date('12/07/2008', 'mm/dd/yyyy') payment_date from dual union all
                    select 1 cust_id, 2 Payment_id, 'Reversed' Status, 200 Amount, to_date('01/06/2009', 'mm/dd/yyyy') payment_date from dual union all
                    select 1 cust_id, 3 Payment_id, 'Applied' Status, 300 Amount, to_date('01/06/2009', 'mm/dd/yyyy') payment_date from dual union all
                    select 2 cust_id, 1 Payment_id, 'Applied' Status, 100 Amount, to_date('12/07/2008', 'mm/dd/yyyy') payment_date from dual union all
                    select 2 cust_id, 2 Payment_id, 'Reversed' Status, 200 Amount, to_date('01/05/2009', 'mm/dd/yyyy') payment_date from dual union all
                    select 2 cust_id, 3 Payment_id, 'Applied' Status, 300 Amount, to_date('01/06/2009', 'mm/dd/yyyy') payment_date from dual union all
                    select 2 cust_id, 4 Payment_id, 'Reversed' Status, -400 Amount, to_date('01/06/2009', 'mm/dd/yyyy') payment_date from dual union all
                    select 2 cust_id, 5 Payment_id, 'Applied' Status, 500 Amount, to_date('01/07/2009', 'mm/dd/yyyy') payment_date from dual),
                    --- end of mimicking your table
          dummy as (select 'Reversed' col1, 1 rn from dual union all
                    select 'Reversed' col1, 2 rn from dual)
    select mt.cust_id,
           mt.payment_id,
           mt.status,
           decode(dummy.rn, 2, -1*mt.amount, mt.amount) amount,
           mt.payment_date
    from   my_tab mt,
           dummy
    where  mt.status = dummy.col1 (+)
    order by mt.cust_id, mt.payment_id, dummy.rn nulls first;

    NB. You may have to mess around with the ordering if that's not come back in the order you wanted. You didn't mention what the rules were for any expected ordering though, so I've made up my own *{;-)
    Also, I added an identifier (cust_id) to differentiate between different sets of payments, since that's usually the case. Remove that if it's not applicable for your case.

  • Auto retry of select statements on failure

    I have a IBM Message Broker message flow that accesses the database to fetch some data. following are the steps in a message flow. (similar pattern is there in other flows as well)
    1) Parse the input message
    2) Invoke a ESQL compute node that accesses the database. This uses DataDirect ODBC drivers to access the database.
    3) process the data
    4) Invoke an external Java class that also accesses the database. This Java class uses Spring/Hibernate and uses the Oracle UCP library.
    Steps 2 and 4 access an Oracle database on which failover features are NOT enabled. Following is our observation.
    If the database fails when executing step 2, then the message flow pauses until a valid connection is available and then proceeds with the execution, the point to note is that the message flow does not experience a failure. It simply pauses until it gets a connection and continues once it gets a connection.
    If the database fails when executing step 4, the message flow gets an error.
    What we want is for step 2 and 4 to execute the same way, meaning that we want the message flows to wait until a valid connection is available and then continue without any errors.
    I feel that there is some feature in DataDirect driver that cause step 2 to pause the message flow and prevent an error. We want the same behaviour in step 4 as well.
    So, is there some way (via configuration or any other means) to get this behaviour using oracle UCP library.
    One thing to note is that we are not in position to change the Java code since it has been developed by a third party.
    To achieve this I have written a test and the following are details.
    For this I have created a service with the following properties. Point to note is that we run the service on only one instance at a time, if it goes down then it is started on the second instance.
    Service name: LDL_TEST02
    Service is enabled
    Server pool: CSAHEDA_LDL_TEST02
    Cardinality: 1
    Disconnect: false
    Service role: PRIMARY
    Management policy: AUTOMATIC
    DTP transaction: false
    AQ HA notifications: true
    Failover type: SELECT
    Failover method: NONE
    TAF failover retries: 180
    TAF failover delay: 5
    Connection Load Balancing Goal: LONG
    Runtime Load Balancing Goal: NONE
    TAF policy specification: BASIC
    Edition:
    Preferred instances: CSAHEDA1
    Available instances: CSAHEDA2
    Following is in my tnsnames.ora file and I am using the oracle oci driver.
    TESTA =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ENABLE = BROKEN)
    (LOAD_BALANCE = off)
    (FAILOVER = on)
         (ADDRESS_LIST =
         (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = vip.host1)(PORT = 1521))
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = vip.host2)(PORT = 1521)))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SERVICE_NAME = LDL_TEST02)
    (FAILOVER_MODE =
    (BACKUP = TESTA2)
    (TYPE = SELECT)
    (METHOD = PRECONNECT)
    (RETRIES = 120)
    (DELAY = 5)
    This is how I run my test.
    1)I have a simple test that simply loops through a list of select statements.
    2)each time it takes a connection from the connection pool, executes the statement and returns the connection to the connection pool.
    3)I keep this running for around 10 minutes.
    4) once the test has started I bring down the service wait for 3 minutes and the start the service on the second instance.
    5) what I expect is for the test to pause for 3 minutes and then get the correct value from executing the select statement. and continue without pause.
    Following is the config for the connection pool.
         <bean id="dd_Datasource" class="oracle.ucp.jdbc.PoolDataSourceFactory" factory-method="getPoolDataSource">

         </bean>
    As you can see I have tried many combinations.
    Sometimes I see the thread pause for 3 minutes without error and then continue.
    Sometime I start seeing 'oracle.ucp.UniversalConnectionPoolException: Cannot get Connection from Datasource' as soon as the servic is down.
    Sometime the first error above is seen after 30 seconds (always the first one).
    Can you guys shed any light on this? And how can I get the desired behaviour?

  • Field symbols as Table name and in where condition in a select statement

    Hello All,
    I have a scenario where I need to get user input on table name and old field value and new field value. Then based on user input, I need to select the record from the database. The column name for all the tables in question is different in the database, however there data type is the same and have same values.
    I am not able to use a field symbol for comparing the old field value to fetch the relevant record in my where clause.
    I cannnot loop through the entire table as it has 10 millilon records, please advice on how to add the where clause as field symbol as the table name is also dynamically assigned.
    Here is my code:
    DATA: TAB       LIKE SY-TNAME,
          TAB_COMP1 LIKE X031L-FIELDNAME,
          TAB_COMP2 LIKE X031L-FIELDNAME,
          NO_OF_FLD TYPE N.
    DATA: BEGIN OF BUFFER,
            ALIGNMENT TYPE F,
            C(8000)   TYPE C,
          END OF BUFFER.
    FIELD-SYMBOLS: <WA>   TYPE ANY,
                  <COMP1> TYPE ANY,
                  <COMP2> TYPE ANY.
    GET TABLE NAME GIVEN BY USER IN LOCAL VARIABLE
      TAB = TAB_NAME.
    CREATE FIELD NAME BASED ON THE TABLE NAME ENTERED.
      CASE TAB_NAME.
      WHEN 'OIUH_RV_GL'.
          KEY FIELD
            TAB_COMP1  = 'GL_GL_SYS_NO'.
            NO_OF_FLD  = 1.
      WHEN 'OIUH_RV_OPSL'.
          KEY FIELD
            TAB_COMP1  = 'OPSL_GL_SYS_NO'.
            NO_OF_FLD  = 1.
      WHEN 'OIUH_RV_OTAX'.
          NOT THE ONLY KEY FIELD
            TAB_COMP1  = 'OTAX_GL_SYS_NO'.
            TAB_COMP2  = 'OTAX_TAX_POS_NO'.
            NO_OF_FLD  = 2.
      WHEN 'OIUH_RV_GTAX'.
          NOT THE ONLY KEY FIELD
            TAB_COMP1  = 'GTAX_GL_SYS_NO'.
            TAB_COMP2  = 'GTAX_TAX_POS_NO'.
            NO_OF_FLD  = 2.
      WHEN OTHERS.
            EXIT.
      ENDCASE.
    SET FIELD SYMBOL WITH APPROPRIATE TYPE TO BUFFER AREA.
    ASSIGN BUFFER TO <WA> CASTING TYPE (TAB).
    How to add where clause and remove the if condition in the select -- endselect
    SELECT * FROM (TAB) INTO <WA>.
      ASSIGN COMPONENT TAB_COMP1 OF STRUCTURE <WA> TO <COMP1>.
      IF NO_OF_FLD = 2.
        ASSIGN COMPONENT TAB_COMP2 OF STRUCTURE <WA> TO <COMP2>.
      ENDIF.
      IF <COMP1> = OLD_SYS_NO.
        code for updating table would come here
          WRITE: 'MATCH FOUND'.
          EXIT.
      ENDIF.
    ENDSELECT.
    Please advice. Thanks much.

    1. Create single column table for holding field name depending on the table entered.
    2. Take input from user: for e.g. table_name
    3. Using case load single column table with required fields
       for e.g.
      CASE TAB_NAME.
       WHEN 'OIUH_RV_GL'.
             Append 'GL_GL_SYS_NO' to KEY_FIELD --> KEY_FIELD is the single line internal table as mentioned in step 1.
       WHEN 'OIUH_RV_OPSL'.
             Append 'OPSL_GL_SYS_NO'.
       WHEN 'OIUH_RV_OTAX'.
             Append 'OTAX_GL_SYS_NO' to KEY_FIELD.
               APPEND 'OTAX_TAX_POS_NO' to KEY_FIELD.
       WHEN 'OIUH_RV_GTAX'.
             Append 'GTAX_GL_SYS_NO' to KEY_FIELD.
               APPEND 'OTAX_TAX_POS_NO' to KEY_FIELD.
       WHEN OTHERS.
          EXIT.
       ENDCASE.
       Now depending on the table name you have required column ready
    4. Create dynamic internal table using following sudo code
       Fill the fieldcatlog using the single column field table and DD03L table, See what all columns from DD03L you want to fill in field catlog table
       loop at internal table with all the fields.
        move it to field catalog.
        append field catalog.
       endloop.
    5. Pass this field catalog table to static method create_dynamic_table method
       DATA table TYPE REF TO DATA. --> data object for holding handle to dynamic internal table.
       call method cl_alv_table_create=>create_dynamic_table
       exporting
          it_fieldcatalog = fieldcatalog_tab
       importing
          ep_table = table.
    6. Now assign table reference to field symbol of type table.
       ASSIGN table->* to <field-tab>.
    7. Also create work area <field-wa> using refrence of table.
       create data object wa LIKE LINE OF <field-tab>.
       ASSIGN wa->* to <field-wa>.
    8. Also define field symbol for field name.
       for e.g. <field_name>
    4. Dynamic internal table is ready
    5. Now execute the select statement as follows:
       SELECT (KEY_FIELD)
         INTO <ITAB> --> created dynamically above
          FROM (TABLE_NAME)
         WHERE (WHERE).  --> WHERE is single line internal table having line type of CHAR72. So for every old value there will be one line
         Where condition is same as like we give in static way only difference in this case it will stored in internal table line wise.
        In this case you need to append all your where condition line by line in to WHERE.
    5. To fill this dynamic internal table using ASSIGN COMPONENT <Comp_number> OF STRUCTURE <field-wa> TO <field-name>
       So in this case if first field of structure STRUCT1 is user_id then sudo-code will be
       loop at internal table containing list of fields into field_wa --> single column field table
           ASSIGN COMPONENT field_wa OF STRUCTURE <field-wa> TO <field>. "Here field_wa is wa area for single column internal table holding all the fieldnames.
           Now <field-name> points to user_id field. Move some value into it as nornally we do with variables.
           Move <your_new_value> to <field-name>. --> Assign new value
            or
            <field-name> = <your_new_value>.
       Endloop.
    6. After completing all the fields one row will be ready in <field_wa>.
       APPEND <field_wa> to <field_tab>.
    Hope this helps you.
    Thanks,
    Augustin.

    The commented lines are the new additions that i want to add to the SELECT statement. But when i un-comment them, i get an error while activating my program. Error is as follows:
    For pooled tables, cluster tables, and project views, JOIN is not allowed: "KONV".
    Is there a way i can go around it?

    Hi,
    look at this SAP note : 550043
    Symptom
    KEPM: dump 'MESSAGE_TYPE_X' during automatic planning method execution.
    Other terms
    KEPM MESSAGE_TYPE_X transform characteristic value
    Reason and Prerequisites
    This note is related only to cases, if dump 'MESSAGE_TYPE_X' is raising
    during execution of planning method, for which is possible to define
    transformation of characteristics values i.e. Copy, Forecast, Top-Down
    distribution, Ratios and Customer Enhancement.
    Dump is raising in case, if there was defined transformation of char.
    values in parameter set definition for some characteristic. Later on,
    this characteristic was removed from planning level definition but
    characteristic wasn't removed from relevant customizing of transform
    characteristic values before.
    Solution
    Please apply attached program correction.

  • Is it possible to nest SELECT statements?

    Greetings community,
    Another newbie’s question it is. Looking tutorials and some posts here I’ve been advised not to pull entire table through the local network, and torture client machines’ processors and memory. It’s been said that better solution is to
    pull just one part of the table.
    So, imagine this: you want to make a part of your app that would allow your user to view list of orders. So you put one data grid view on the form, pull last 20 headers from the table into it and leave to user to choose one to be opened
    in another form. If user doesn’t find header they want, they press page up for example and previous 20 headers are loaded into data grid view. Of course, user could filter headers list by customer, or by distribution lane (having all customers residing in
    one part of the town), or whatever more, but let’s not complicate things at this moment, because I’m practically in the beginning.
    I’m trying to make a stored procedure that would load penultimate 20 headers when user presses page up. So, not knowing any better, I created table variable that has the same structure as Orders table with one difference: OrderID column,
    which is identity (auto incremented) in Orders table, here is simply defined as bigint not null. Community member Visakh16 warned me few months ago it’s the bad practice to put self-incrementing columns in table variables.
    At this moment there’s a query on my screen, which waits to become store procedure. After boring part with table variable definition, it goes like this:
    INSERT INTO @OrdersTemp SELECT TOP 40 * FROM dbo.Orders ORDER BY OrderID DESC
    SELECT TOP 20 * FROM @OrdersTemp ORDER BY OrderID ASC
    To put that simply, I pull last 40 headers into table variable, and then pull first 20 from there. This thing works, and I just have to replace 40 with parameter, for every page up or down.
    Now I have few questions.
    -Is there some better way (considering performance) to achieve that? Here is the place where I wanted to ask the question from the title of the post. I don’t know much about T-SQL, and I’m not sure about the proper syntax to nest SELECT
    statements, if something like that is even possible
    -Is there any better way (some built-in function) to find about the count of the rows in one table than
    SELECT COUNT(OrdersID) FROM dbo.Orders
    Thanks for any suggestions.

    Hi Erland,
    Sorry for the very late reply, but I said that I would start another thread when I find more free time to dedicate it to this, so I didn’t really expected you to reply anymore. I didn’t really check here for more than a week, and I glanced
    at mail accidentally.
    As for the negative result I got, its measurement unit is microsecond, so it doesn’t go out of margins you had experienced.
    As for the number of cores, you got me surprised there. I use express edition of SQL server. Last time I checked was SQL server 2012 express, and in specifications it said that express edition is limited to 1 processor core, 1GB of RAM
    and creates up to 10GB database file. I don’t believe they changed any of those specifications. It was generous enough when they doubled size of DB file few editions ago. Still, it appears that “one processor core for express edition” statement has some gray
    areas in it.
    However, at this moment I’m just learning, and I just wanted some way to test how efficient my queries are. I don’t have a real biz problem to solve. I don’t expect that any real performance problem should rise in years of everyday work
    of populating database. What I expect is performance impact when it comes to creating reports, but after all, I don’t think that my boss would create reports by himself. I believe that creating reports would be my task, and I will be doing it after hours,
    being the only user at the moment. Or maybe I could make de-normalized copy of database that would be populated after hours to make it possible for my boss to get his reports faster by himself, as I’ve heard that was the way of making BI in older non-express
    editions.
    So, I do suggest that we finally close this thread for sake of other readers. I’ll start another one with this subject when I find the time to do it.
    Again, thanks for being with me along this journey.

  • How user variable table names in select statement

    Dear all,
    I have three table gp1,gp2,g3. i want user variable table in sql query
    for example at oracle forms have a list table showing table names gp1,gp2,gp3
    at form i want user this query
    select gpno from :table where gpno=120;
    how i can specify table name Dynamicly in select query
    Thanks

    Forms_DDL is a one-way street: You can only pass DDL commands TO the database; you cannot get data back using Forms_DDL.
    Exec_SQL is the Forms package that enables dynamic sql within a form. But to retrieve data, you have to make a Exec_SQL call for every column in every row. So it is not a good thing to use, either.
    The ref cursor method should work. You could also retrieve the data into a record group using populate_group_with_query -- it also enables dynamic data retrieval.
    But if you already know you have three distinct tables and you know their names, I would keep it simple and just write three sql select statements.
