Regards,
Krishnadeep.<I want a query with the same result without using union all>
You can write a pipelined function, which will be about ten times the work. Its best to use the simples tools; why don't you want to use UNION ALL since its probably the best answer? -
Help required on UNION ALL for select query
Hello all,
The execution plan for an SQL is impacted when another SELECT is concatenated with a UNION ALL. The two SELECTS are very efficient when run separately (< 100 buffer gets), but when run together (using a UNION ALL), the execution plan changes (for the first SELECT) and the buffer gets jumps to over 45000!
what customer says with the UNION ALL, Oracle instead of doing a Merge Scan (that allows the inner table to filter out the rows from the outer table), chooses to do a NL join. This results in a Unique Index scan for each one of the 15000 rows in the outer table, resulting in 46000 consistent gets.
Can you please suggest customer why plan changes when they use UNION ALL & also suggest better way of running query.
Please refer to below explain plan .

Union All in a Subquery - Help
Hello All,
I am trying to create a Union All query but when i put a parameter in the where clause, i get an error. The Query is mentioned below:
SELECT T0.U_Srv_TechName, T0.ItemCode, T0.Dscription, SUM(T0.Quantity) AS [Bal Qty]
FROM (SELECT dbo.OWTR.U_Srv_TechName, dbo.WTR1.ItemCode, dbo.WTR1.Dscription, SUM(dbo.WTR1.Quantity) AS Quantity
FROM dbo.OWTR INNER JOIN
dbo.WTR1 ON dbo.OWTR.DocEntry = dbo.WTR1.DocEntry
GROUP BY dbo.OWTR.U_Srv_TechName, dbo.WTR1.ItemCode, dbo.WTR1.Dscription
UNION ALL
SELECT dbo.ODLN.U_Srv_TechName, dbo.DLN1.ItemCode, dbo.DLN1.Dscription, SUM(dbo.DLN1.Quantity * - 1) AS Quantity
FROM dbo.ODLN INNER JOIN
dbo.DLN1 ON dbo.ODLN.DocEntry = dbo.DLN1.DocEntry
GROUP BY dbo.ODLN.U_Srv_TechName, dbo.DLN1.ItemCode, dbo.DLN1.Dscription) T0
GROUP BY T0.U_Srv_TechName, T0.ItemCode, T0.Dscription
HAVING T0.U_Srv_TechName = [%0]
It gives me the error

If I enter the name of the Technician (HAVING T0.U_Srv_TechName = 'xyz') it works fine. Also, if I execute the query in SQL Server with or without a prompt, it works fine. It's only on the SAP Query Manager that i'm having this problem. Please Help!
RezaReza,
Try this modification of the previous code, see if it works for you.
declare @stn varchar(20)
set @stn=/*SELECT T0.[DocNum] FROM OWTR T0 WHERE T0.[U_Srv_TechName] =*/'[%0]'
SELECT T0.U_Srv_TechName, T0.ItemCode, T0.Dscription, SUM(T0.Quantity) AS [Bal Qty]
FROM (SELECT T0.U_Srv_TechName, T1.ItemCode, T1.Dscription, SUM(T1.Quantity) AS Quantity
FROM OWTR T0 INNER JOIN
WTR1 T1 ON T0.DocEntry = T1.DocEntry
GROUP BY T0.U_Srv_TechName, T1.ItemCode, T1.Dscription
UNION ALL
SELECT T2.U_Srv_TechName, T3.ItemCode, T3.Dscription, SUM(T3.Quantity * - 1) AS Quantity
FROM ODLN T2 INNER JOIN
DLN1 T3 ON T2.DocEntry = T3.DocEntry

Syntax Error - Using "Group By" with "Union All"
Dear SAP community, I am a newb in need of help.
Just spent the past 2 days searching for answers on how to build this query.
Basically, I just want to group the Item Names (U_ItemName) together and have their respective quantities (U_Cart) added together so the same items display as one total quantity, no duplicates.
I have tried so many combinations of GroupBy and Sum/Count....etc. Nothing is working.
The query:
SELECT T1.[U_ItemName] AS 'Item Name', T1.[U_Cart] AS 'Cartons Available', T0.[Country] AS 'Country', T1.[U_ShlfLife] AS 'Shelf Life' FROM [dbo].[OWHS] T0 inner join [dbo].[@SICAS_EXT_WHS] T1 on T0.WhsCode=T1.U_WhseCode WHERE T0.[Country] = (N'JP' ) and DateDiff(Month, GetDate(),T1.[U_ShlfLife]) <= 6 union all
SELECT T0.[U_ItemName], Sum(T0.[U_Cart]) as Cartons, T1.[Country], null FROM [dbo].[@SICAS_EXT_WHS] T0, OWHS T1 WHERE T1.[Country] = (N'JP' ) and DateDiff(Month, GetDate(),T0.[U_ShlfLife]) >= 6
GROUP BY T0.[U_ItemName], T0.[U_Cart], T1.[Country]
Can anybody advise how to get this working?
Thank you,
Justice Nerenberghi justice,
I checked your code and it seems correct. but I don't have same table in database so i can't check it correctly.
but I tried your problem with same situation and I am getting actual result.
Example :-
select itemcode,dscription,quantity from inv1
where docdate>'2011-02-18 00:00:00.000'
union all
select itemcode,dscription,Sum(quantity) from inv1
where docdate<'2011-02-18 00:00:00.000'
group by itemcode,dscription
Please do one thing rum both select queries separately whether running properly. Using above example you can check your code
Thanks

Hi,
I have a union all query like this :
select a.prod_id,count(a.app_id) as noofapplications from enrollment a,attest b
where a.e_id=b.e_id group by a.prod_id
union all
select a.prod_id,count(a.app_id) as noofapplications from data_feed x,prod_feed y
where x.agent_num=y.prod_id group by y.prod_id
I get the results something like this :
prod_id noofapplications
x1824787 2
y397458 4
y397458 3
r457868 3
i876247 6
In below results y397458 is showing twice since it results from both the queries .But i want a single result like this :
prod_id noofapplications
x1824787 2
y397458 7
r457868 3
i876247 6
For y397458 it should add 4+3 and the result should be displayed one time only .
Please help ..
Thanks in AdvanceSlightly reorder your query text:
select prod_id,count(app_id) as noofapplications
from
select a.prod_id,a.app_id
from enrollment a,attest b
where a.e_id=b.e_id
union all
select a.prod_id,a.app_id
from data_feed x,prod_feed y
where x.agent_num=y.prod_id

Select query-using Union All display duplicate records.
Hello All Gurus-
I am using Oracle 9.i
When i use the following query to fetch the records based on BUILDNUMBERNAME and ASSIGNED_BUILD then i am getting duplicate records -
select T1.ID FROM Defect T1,statedef T2,repoproject T3
WHERE T1.STATE=T2.ID AND T1.repoproject = T3.dbid AND T3.name Like 'ABC' AND T1. ASSIGNED_BUILD like '1.4.5.6'
Union All
select T1.ID FROM Defect T1,statedef T2,repoproject T3
WHERE T1.STATE=T2.ID AND T1.repoproject = T3.dbid AND T3.name Like 'ABC' AND T1.BUILDNUMBERNAME like '1.4.5.6'
How can i use the order by on T1.ID ? When i use the Order by T1.ID then it throws some error.
Kindly help me in this :(
Thanks in advance.Sorry for not providing all of the details -
I am using Toad tool to run the query.
1-When i use the following query -
Select T1.ID FROM Defect T1,statedef T2,repoproject T3
WHERE T1.STATE=T2.ID AND T1.repoproject = T3.dbid AND T3.name Like 'ABC' AND T1. ASSIGNED_BUILD like '1.4.5.6' order by T1.ID
Union All
select T1.ID FROM Defect T1,statedef T2,repoproject T3
WHERE T1.STATE=T2.ID AND T1.repoproject = T3.dbid AND T3.name Like 'ABC' AND T1.BUILDNUMBERNAME like '1.4.5.6' order by T1.ID
ORA-00933: SQL command not properly ended.
2-If i am not using the T1.ID and run the following query
Select T1.ID FROM Defect T1,statedef T2,repoproject T3
WHERE T1.STATE=T2.ID AND T1.repoproject = T3.dbid AND T3.name Like 'ABC' AND T1. ASSIGNED_BUILD like '1.4.5.6'
Union All
select T1.ID FROM Defect T1,statedef T2,repoproject T3
WHERE T1.STATE=T2.ID AND T1.repoproject = T3.dbid AND T3.name Like 'ABC' AND T1.BUILDNUMBERNAME like '1.4.5.6'
Then it is running fine but it is displaying the duplicate values like -

Inventory on Hand Report - Using Union ALL - need two fields to be part of the group
Hi all,
I have created an Inventory "on Hand" Report that takes the Current Inventory from the Item Entry table and the Sales from Unposted Sales Line table and Transfers in and out from the Unposted Transfer Line table. I have joined the tables
using the UNION ALL function.
My problem is that the Transfer table has two locations whereas the other tables only have one. I am grouping on Location code from the Item Entry table which is equivalent to BOTH Transfer from location and the Transfer to.
As an example, there are 15lbs of inventory for Product A in Location #1 with a transfer out of 15 lbs. The Transfer out is going to Location #2
I don't know how to write the query or set up the group so that it recognizes both the Transfer to and the Transfer From fields
I want the report to look similar to the one below but I can only get it to show one of the locations. Is there some way to use the Union function and have one field in the first table be or equivalent to two fields in another?
Location Code
Item No.
Lbs
Sales Orders
Transfer Out
Transfer In
Available Inventory
Location #1
Product A
15
-15
Location #1

Location #2
Product A

Location #2

15Hi Igor,
You can get a custom sort order added to your IP column without the need for a second column.
Consider that the sorting is done strictly left-to-right across a string in the column. The string can be any valid HTML content. So, you could wrap your string within, say, a SPAN tag and add an attribute to that tag that contains the sort order you need before the text that is displayed to the user. As long as the attribute is correctly structured (that is, all instances are of the same length, for example), then sorting will work correctly. For example:
SELECT
'<span title="' || PAD_IP_ADDRESS(IP) || '">' || IP || '</span>' Y
FROM ...Now you need to ensure that the PAD_IP_ADDRESS() function returns the correct values. In IP addresses, you have anything from "0.0.0.0" to "255.255.255.255". To get them to sort "numerically", you need to pad one or two digit numbers to get three digit numbers for each value - so, "0.0.0.0" becomes "000.000.000.000". You could create a function to do this - something like:

Hi
The problem Im having is that I had a query on sales order tables that used to take a couple of minutes to run. The user wanted contract orders to be added to the query and these were stored in different tables to the sales orders. I carried out union all joins in views and then applied the query to the views. Unfortunately it now takes 30 minutes to run.
I apologise for the large post, I am just trying to provide enough information for someone to help me out.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Stephen

Is there a way to change the duration of a group of selected clips all at once?
Hi all,
I'm working with good old Premiere 6 on Windows 7.
Is there a way to change the duration of a group of selected clips all at once? If I have a large group of clips in my timeline that are all the same duration, once I've selected them all in a group, can I somehow change the frame number duration of all the clips at the same time?
I've found other things that can be done to a group of clips at the same time, but I can't find a way to change the duration of a group of selected clips.
Thanks,
digiThanks Jim and Bill,
In my efforts to work around the problems with the distortion and horizontal interlace lines that come when using the Motion Settings, I'm doing stop frame animation with hundreds and hundreds of layers in PSDs in multiple files placed in hundreds of one, four and six frame sections in Premiere, so if I find that I need to change the number of frames per clip in hundreds of consecutive clips (not actual duration of speed changes), then I need to pull out the right side of hundreds of frames after first moving them apart enough to allow for changing them if I'm making them longer.
These animations are different from the rotating reel animations in that they are for laterally moving subjects that are long streams of moving graphics and photos.
I read about "clip nesting", but I think that only applies to clips or groups of clips that are the same, whereas my clips are each from different imported layers times 125 or so, consecutively placed one after another to create the laterally moving stop frame animation.
Now I've tried johnbmx4christ's alternate method of creating rotations that was just posted on the other thread about the rotation distortion, but that method results in the same oblong distortion and messed up looking horizontal interlace lines.
What a can of worms.
Thanks,
digi -
Select extra row without using UNION ALL in pl/sql
Hi,
Can anyone tell me how to select extra row without using UNION or UNION ALL in pl/sql. Actually I want to have my o/p of query as partitioned by designation and ordered by salary and than one extra row which will contain the highest salary in a particular salary. My table has first_name,emp_id,designation and salary column. And I wnt the o/p as.
Mohinish,12212,SI,46000
Ram,11212,SSI,47000
Shyam,12133,SI,48000
Rick,9898,SI,46000
Rocky,12312,SSI,56000
Sariq,23948,SI,43000
Suman,12789,HR,49000
Sampy,12780,SI,46000
Parna,11111,HR,50000
Now the o/p should be.
Mohinish,12212,SI,46000
Rick,9898,SI,46000

Suman,12789,HR,49000

Thanks in AdvanceYou don't have to do a UNION or UNION ALL in PL/SQL but you would need to in SQL to get the desired output:

Help with a union all statement
Hello
I am pulling a query much like this:
(select ID, Created_timestamp from snapshot1
where created_timestamp >= to_date ('8/15/2007 12:00:00 AM','MM/DD/YYYY HH:MI:SS AM')
and created_timestamp < to_date('8/18/2007 12:00:00 AM','MM/DD/YYYY HH:MI:SS AM'))
UNION ALL
(select ID, created_timestamp from snapshot2
where created_timestamp >= to_date ('8/15/2007 12:00:00 AM','MM/DD/YYYY HH:MI:SS AM')
and created_timestamp < to_date('8/18/2007 12:00:00 AM','MM/DD/YYYY HH:MI:SS AM'))
UNION ALL
(select ID, created_timestamp from data_history
where created_timestamp >= to_date ('8/15/2007 12:00:00 AM','MM/DD/YYYY HH:MI:SS AM')
and created_timestamp < to_date('8/18/2007 12:00:00 AM','MM/DD/YYYY HH:MI:SS AM'))
Is there an easier way to handle created_timestamp?
I would like to put it at the beginning so I only have to change it in one place.I don't understand.
I try your with statement and get: "end_date" invalid identifier as an error
I start my query out:
WITH start_date as
(select to_date ('08/15/2007 12:00:00 AM','MM/DD/YYYY HH:MI:SS AM') from dual),
end_date as (select to_date ('08/18/2007 12:00:00 AM','MM/DD/YYYY HH:MI:SS AM) from dual)
select sales.id, start_date as callstart, end_date as callend
where sales.created_timestamp >= start_date
and sales.created_timestamp < end_date
