Is there an alternative to VLOOKUP function in BI 11g?
Or what else I can use to return value of 3rd column based on the value in 2nd column?

Yes this is possible by dynamic user assignment.
Define an output parameter for CO1 and CO2 and an input parameter for the CO under action F of type string. In design time select the processor of action F as "Filled from Context Parameter" in the Roles tab and select the input parameter you have defined as mentioned in the previous step. Now group the output parameter of the CO1 and CO2 and the input parameter of action F together.
Now at runtime fill the context parameter from CO1 and CO2 with the actual user name. The action F will get automatically assigned to that user.

In tableview am displaying some 5 columns in which one column is in dropdown.I want to modify the tableview.But unable to get the selected value at the particlular cell
(the column which is in dropdown) in tableview.
I have tried by using the method GET_CELL_ID.and get_form_field also.But am not getting the selected value only for this column.For remaining columns am getting the values properly.

in the cell you are rendering a dropdwonlistbox, so to read the content of the same use
data: data type ref to cl_htmlb_dropdownlistbox.

Passing DB values to the textbox based on Select Value item

Hi,
I am very much new to the Oracle APEX. In my project, I have a requirement wherein I have to pass the different values to the corresponding textboxes on a different page based on the value I select from the "Select Value" item.
I have tried using calling On-Demand Processes, but couldn't get the desired result.
Please suggest!

If your current problem is that the you are *calling* Page 2 from Page 1, and while doing so you want the value of P1_ITEM1 to be passed and set in p2_ITEM1 then
a. Edit the branch
b. In Action in Set these items write P2_ITEM1
c. In With these values write &P1_ITEM1. (do not miss the dot at the end)

Is there a way to hide some reports based on the selected values in prompt.

Is there a way to hide some reports based on the selected values in prompt.
For ex. if a year is selected in the prompt then the report should display year wise report.
If a year and half year both are selected in the drop down from prompt section then 2 reports should come.. One for year wise and another for half year wise.Kindly look into this.

Use presentation values in prompts for year,half,qtr and month.Example- For year-y is presentation variable in the same way for halfyear-h,qtr-q and month-m.
create four intermediate reports.Example-Report r1 with only year column,r2 with only halfyear column,r3 with qtr column and r4 with month column.
Make column in each report(r1,r2,r3,r4) is equal to their presentation variables(y,h,q,m).
Use four sections.
Section1-Place report that should come when only year.
section2-Place report that should come for year and halfyear.
Section3-Place report that should come for year,halfyear and qtr.
Section4-Place report that should come for year,halfyear,qtr and month.
Apply guided navigation for each section selecting guided navigation-
For section1-
properties->Guided navigation->check this Reference Source Request(Yes)->select report r1(year)->check this Show Section(if request returns row)
In the same way do for remaining section2(select r2),section3(select r3) and section4(select r4)

I have created a dynamic LOV and created the actionListener
I have created a table by dragging the ViewObject and i have set the partialTrigger attribute value to the LOV Id.
Now My doubt is What should I return in the actionListener method

So get the value what i tried is ,bind the list item of the select one choice ,
and then i used the method something like this
UISelectItems see=getSelectItems1();
System.out.println("Selected Value"+ see.getValue());
but it returns me something like this
Selected Value[javax.faces.model.SelectItem@b20090, javax.faces.model.SelectItem@431753]
Don't know what are those ,hoe can i get the display value.Please help.

Select list based on LOV - and allowing new values

Hi All,
I have a page that has a select list based on a dynamic list of values. I wanted to test out how the system was working, so I truncated all of my tables, and now my select list is blank (which makes sense). The problem is that I can't type anything into the select list. How can I make it so that if there isn't a value returned from the query that populates the LOV, I can just type one in? This also goes further in that if the value I wanted isn't already in the db, how does the user add in another value?

Well as you now know HTML based select lists don't work like that, that widget is called a combo box and there will be built in combo boxes in APEX 3.0, it's a fairly complex dhtml widget.
What you might want to do is provide a text item next to your select box and an Add New Value Option in your select list.

Could anyone please tell me if it is possible to display a LOV with a background colour based on the selected value ?
In fact , I have a report with many select lists whose value can be Y,N,N/A and I would like that the corresponding LOVs have the background colour set according to the value .

Lets assume your select list item name is P1_SL and return values as follows
Display - Return
N/A     - NA
YES     -   Y
NO      -   NEdit you page and put JS code similar to following in footer section

I'm using Lov Map to populate the lov field say field A. But I need to populate another field say field B based on the value selected in field A.
to give an example of my requirement. Consider a view object having attributes col1,col2,col3 and having following data.
col1--col2--col3
1-----a-------x
2-----b------y
3-----c------z
I 'll populate the lov of field A with values in col1. when user selects value 1 in field A. automatically field B should show value 'a'. If user selects value 2 in field A, field B should show value 'b' so on.

Select records based on first n distinct values of column

I need to write a query in plsql to select records for first 3 distinct values of a single column (below example, ID )and all the rows for next 3 distinct values of the column and so on till the end of count of distinct values of a column.
eg:

So, one group will consist of the lowest id value, the 2nd lowest and the 3rd lowest, reggardless of how many rows are involved. The next group will consist of the 4th lowest id, the 5th lowest and the 6th lowest. To do that, you need to assign numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, ... to the rows in order by id, with all rows having the same id getting the same number, and without skipping any numbers.
That sounds like a job for the analytic DENSE_RANK function:

How to refresh page after selecting value from LOV item , in a tabular form

Hi ,
I have a tabular form, which contains 2 items(columns), of type "Select List - named LoV".
Now, couple of issues here.
1.
2nd item(column) in tabular form, that LoV should get populated based user's selection value in first item LoV. So how do i refer to the value, that user selected in first item's LoV? I will have to use this reference in LoV query of my 2nd item ( on this tabular form)
2.
How can we refresh the page, when user selectes value in first item ( from LoV). As this is a tabular form, here item type is Select List, we dont have an option to pick item type as Select List with Submit. So problem is that when user selects value for item 1, refresh does not happen and item 2 LoV does not get populated as per user's selection in item 1.
Please help here. Would be really appreciated.

Ben, your solution helped me with refresh of page, as page got submitted.
This answers to my 2nd question. However, I still need to know first question, which basically is, how do i refer to the value, that user selected in first item LoV.
Issue is, I selected the value in first item LoV, it got submitted and page fot refreshed. But after page refresh, first item LoV loses its value that I had selected last time. It does not retain the selected value after refresh.
I have an unconditional process, that on every submit(refresh) of page, I set my items with their corresponding values. But problem is what do i mention there to refer to this item.
I looked in view source of my page, this item is referred as f03.
So i used "apex_application.g_f03", to set this item to its value, in my uncoditional submit process. But it did not work. I tried to refer this item as "f03" in this unconditional submit process. But still it did not help, the selected item loses its value after page refresh(submit).
Any help here would be really appreciated. Please suggest how do we refer to this item's selected value.

Unable to set the selected value for a ADF LOV

I am developing an application using jdeveloper 10.1.3 and Struts.
I have created a ADF LOV on my JSP Page as given below:

When i submit the form, i am able to get the value of the selected Value in the List.

But i am unable to set the selected value back in the list when i return to the form again.
I tried the following:
int x = listBinding.getSelectedIndex();
listBinding.setSelectedIndex(x);
It would be really helpful if some one could let me know what needs to be done.

I tried with the code you suggest , its trying to set the value of a field, but my requirement is to change the property for
"Rendered" on the field so that based on search parameters we can hide result table column.
After searching online, I modified the controller code as follows
1.Created a new transient attribute (Testrender) with type "Boolean" and always updateable.
2.changed the "Rendered" property value on the field I want to hide as ${oa.PoSearchVO1.Testrender}.
3. Modified the controller code as follows :
        OAApplicationModule am = pageContext.getApplicationModule(webBean);
        OAViewObject testvo = (OAViewObject)am.findViewObject("PoSearchVO1");
        OADBTransaction txn = am.getOADBTransaction();

        } But now when i run the page and populate the search field and click "Go" its hiding the field but throwing the following error and the search results are also bad.
Its using only the value of one search parameter but not the second one .
The search cannot be executed because the table has pending changes that would be lost. I think the vo is getting dirty when I update the transient attribute value. So I used txn.rollback ,then search is working fine but its not hiding the field.
So can you please let me know how to proceed from here ?

Automatically Selecting Values in Multiple Values Dropdown Parameters

Is it possible to have parameter values automatically selected in a dropdown in an SSRS report? I'm using SQL Server 2008 R2 Enterprise edition. Basically what I have in mind is this: The user wants to save his parameter selections in a
table that will be available as a dropdown parameter of a report, call it
ParamUserSelection. ParamUserSelection is the first parameter of the report and other parameters depend on it.
We have two other parameters called ParamCountry and
ParamState. These are dropdown text parameters that allow multiple values to be selected. Populating the list is not a problem as I use a standard cascading parameter technique. What I'm trying to do is the following:
The user selects a value from ParamUserSelection, call it Selection1. Selection1 is stored in a table and has all the values that should be selected in ParamCountry and ParamState. In other words, it should tell these two subsequent parameters,
what values should be selected in their respective dropdowns. For example if the user selects Selection1 from ParamUserSelection, it reads the values in the database table and if it finds US and Canada for countries and CA, NY, ON for states, ParamCountry
should be populated with all the countries available in the database but should have ONLY US and Canada as selected values and ParamState should be populated with all the states in the database but should have ONLY CA, NY and ON as selected values.
If then I click on selection 2 and it has ParamCountry = US, ParamState = TX,OH in its database then again all countries and states should be in the dropdown but only US for ParamCountry and TX,OH for ParamState should be selected.
Is this possible with SSRS? I've tried using the Default Values tab with a dataset that returns all the selected values under Report Parameters Properties but this only works for the first time that I select ParamUserSelection. It appears that
if I change the value of ParamUserSelection again, the default values are not invoked.
If this is possible, please tell me how to do this as I have been struggling for a day with it.

According to your description, you have a report with three parameters (ParamUserSelection, ParamCountry, ParamState). The available value lists of ParamCountry and ParamState are based on the selection of a value for ParamUserSelection. Now you want to
show all countries and states in their parameter dropdown list when selecting a user selection instead of only showing the cascading values. Right?
In Reporting Service, when we want a parameter to show the cascading values, we only need to set the corresponding dataset and field for Default Values in this parameter. In this scenario, if we want to show all countries and states in their dropdown list,
we just need to set another dataset for Available Values in those parameters so they can display all countries and states. We have tested your case in our local environment. Since you have done with the cascading parameters, we just give some part of steps
and screenshots for your reference:
We created two tables (dbo.Selection, dbo.states) based on your information.
Create one more dataset (named dataset2) in your report, put text below into your query:
select distinct Country from states
Create another dataset (named dataset3), put text below into your query:
select distinct State from states
Go to your ParamCountry, in Available Values, select dataset2 and Country for dataset and field.
Go to your ParamState, in Available Values, select dataset3 and State for dataset and field.
Save and preview. It looks like below:

SelectManyShuttle: get selected values

Hi all.
My task is to make declarative component (or any other reusable solution) which contains select many shuttle component and should do some processing of selected values (both id and label). While doing this, I found that shuttle component returns to bean always & only item indexes, nothing more.

Then I tried to set valuePassThru, but it triggered a mocking effect only: setSelected receives List<String> with same 0-based index values stringified. At last, I tried valueChangeListener & newValues - all was the same, both in JDeveloper 11.1.1.5 & 11.1.2.1 with corresponding ADFs. Googling got me a lot of links - say, Need to get the selected values from the selectManyShuttle - but nothing I can use.
Maybe I should get a model and iterate it, but in several tries (say, ((MyBean)this).getAttribute('items')) I failed to locate it. Anyway, I'd be glad to see any working solution.
