Select XML Element

Hi,
I have loaded XML in the local database table remotely in the URL (http://www.ecb.europa.eu/stats/eurofxref/eurofxref-daily.xml)
CREATE TABLE url_tab
  URL_NAME VARCHAR2(100),
  URL      SYS.URIType
INSERT INTO url_tab VALUES
('This is a test URL',
sys.UriFactory.getUri('http://www.ecb.europa.eu/stats/eurofxref/eurofxref-daily.xml')
CREATE TABLE xml_data_tab ( xml_data xmltype );
insert into xml_data_tab select sys.xmltype.createXML(u.url.getClob()) from url_tab u;
I am able to read the BANK NAME use the below query and the output of the query is  "  European Central Bank "
select  *  from
XMLTable(XMLNamespaces('http://www.gesmes.org/xml/2002-08-01' as "gesmes"),
                       '/gesmes:Envelope'
                     PASSING  (select * from xml_data_tab)
                     columns
                    Bank_name varchar2(100)   path '/gesmes:Envelope/gesmes:Sender/gesmes:name'
                    ) xt;
Can you please help me out with the SQL or PL/SQL code to read the DATE, Currency Code and the Conversion Rate available in the XML.
Thank you.

I don't know what kind of tool you are using. It looks it can not handle the opague datatype XMLType. Make an attempt via the following...
select  x1.cubexml.getCLOBVal()  as result
from XMLTable(XMLNamespaces('http://www.gesmes.org/xml/2002-08-01' as "gesmes"),
'/gesmes:Envelope'
                PASSING  (select * from xml_data_tab)
                columns
                  cube_date  varchar2(4000)  path 'Cube/Cube/@time',
                  cubexml xmltype 'Cube/Cube'
                ) x1  ;
or
select  XMLSERIALIZE( CONTENT x1.cubexml  as CLOB indent size=1) as result
from XMLTable(XMLNamespaces('http://www.gesmes.org/xml/2002-08-01' as "gesmes"),
'/gesmes:Envelope'
                PASSING  (select * from xml_data_tab)
                columns
                  cube_date  varchar2(4000)  path 'Cube/Cube/@time',
                  cubexml xmltype 'Cube/Cube'
                ) x1  ;

  • Getting Tag and value from the selected Xml element value

    Hi All,
    I have an xml file which i import to the Indesign CS3 .From the structure view , i drag and drop the root node on to the page. Now i select an xml value from the page. Now i need to get the element tag and value from the selected value.
    For example
    File Name : sample1.xml
    <Root>
    <employeeName> A</employeeName>
    <employeeEmail>[email protected]</employeeEmail>
    </Root>
    Now i import this sample.xml in my indesign CS3 and from the structure view i drag the Root  tag and drop it on the page.Now the values of the element tag are displayed.
    Now i select "[email protected]" from the page and i have a menu "Get Selected XML" on clicking which  i should get element tag with value.(i.e <employeeEmail>[email protected]</employeeEmail>)
    How to go about it.?
    Thanks

    Hi Steve,
    If you haven't already done so, I recommend posting this question in the LivCycle Forms forum.

  • Selecting the content of XML element CS3(JS)

    Hi
    I am trying to select the whole content of XML Element.
    I am trying like this
    app.activeDocument.xmlElements[i].select();
    But it is not working.
    Regards
    Suresh

    A few hints:
    Perhaps your variable
    i i
    is not defined. If that's the case, give up trying to write code for this complicated job! XML is not the easiest part of ID to begin with. Starting with uninitialized variables and flagging that as an error (and complaining about that in a forum) is a beginners' blunder.
    If I run your script line with i set to 0, the first element of my XML structure is selected. I can see with my own eyes it works, because I have the XML Structure pane in ID open. If I click on the 2nd element there and run your script line, the top (= 0th) element is selected. Perhaps you didn't open the XML Structure view so you did not see it worked after all. Or perhaps you expected something
    i else
    to be selected -- the text content, maybe -- so you tag it as "error". That's a misinterpretation of what the XmlElement object is. Understandable, but still not an error. You can have lots of XmlElements without any text or other object associated. If it was your intention to select whatever the xml element contains, try working with the property 'xmlContent'. From its description I gather that sort-of does this alternative interpretation, i.e., you can select the
    i text
    which is pointed to by the element. Untried. But do read on.
    If I run your script with i = 1, I
    i do
    get an error, and it's perfectly valid too! "Object is invalid" -- well, of course it is. There is no other XML element at that level. An app.document.xmlelements entry always points to the
    i root
    of the XML, and you can only have one. Perhaps you expected #1 to be the next sub-element. Well, not so in the ID implementation -- as usual for almost all XML based structures, it's a tree. The "next" element is xmlElements[0].xmlElements[0], which you can check by changing your line to
    >app.activeDocument.xmlElements[0].xmlElements[0].select();
    and verifying the 2nd element from the top is selected in the XML Structure view.

  • Generate xml element from Union of 2 Select queries

    Do you know ho I can get the union result of 2 queries and put them in xml result, but I want each query to be in seperate xml element.
    I don t want to put 1 single xmlelement and do a From then construct a virtual table uniting the 2 subqueries
    I mean I don t want something like the following:
    (Select
    XMLAGG(
    XMLELEMENT("credit",
    XMLForest(field1 "detail")
    FROM
    --SubQuery1
    Select field1 from myTable1
    union
    --SubQuery1
    Select field1 from myTable2
    ) "credits"
    I want something like here:
    XMLELEMENT("credits",
    (SELECT
    XMLAGG(
    XMLELEMENT("credit",
    XMLForest(field1 "field1")
    FROM
    myTable1
    (SELECT
    XMLAGG(
    XMLELEMENT("credit",
    XMLForest(field1 "field1")
    FROM

    Except the 2nd alternative is not working Sad

Any time that you want Oracle Text to treat such a special character as regular text, you need to escape it, either by putting a backslash (\) in front of each special character or by enclosing a whole word or phrase within curly brackets ({}). • [CS5-5.5][JS] Replace xml element content with user selection

    Hi,
    I'm trying to write a script that replaces xml element content with a user selection.
    I have document containing a textframe with a "root" tag attached. In this frame I have 2 paragraphs, each tagged with a different tag.
    I would like to replace the content of one of the paragraphs with the content of a text selection.
    This piece of code doesn't seem to work:
    myXMLElement.xmlContent = app.selection[0];
    The problem is that almost all properties of the xmlelement (paragraphs, words, etc) are read-only.
    Does anyone have any suggestion?
    Thanx

    It depends on whether you want to maintain formatting. You can use
    myXMLElement.contents = app.selection[0].contents;
    in the (unlikely?) event that you don't mind blowing away the formatting. Otherwise you'll want to use something like:
    myXMLElement.xmlContent.remove();
    app.selection[0].duplicate(LocationOptions.AT_BEGINNING, myXMLElement.xmlContent);

  • Javascript create parent xml element from selection

    Hello,
    With help from these forums I finally learned how to script creating a parent xml element from a selection in the Structure Pane.
    var myDoc = app.activeDocument;
    var mySel = app.selection;
    var newParent = myDoc.xmlElements[0].xmlElements.add({markupTag:"c_bullet_list"}).move(LocationOptions.before, mySel[0]);
    var i = mySel.length;
    while(i--){
              mySel[i].move(LocationOptions.AT_BEGINNING, newParent);
    Hope this helps somebody.

    Use placeXML instead of move().
    var myXMLElementA = app.selection[0];
    var myTextFrameA = app.activeDocument.pages[2].textFrames.add({geometricBounds:[0, 0, 160, 160], contents:" "});
    myXMLElementA.placeXML(myTextFrameA);

  • How to select specific element from a XML document using JDBC?

    Hi all,
    I have a problem with selecting specific XML element in Oracle 11g release 1 from my java application. Data are stored in object-relational storage.
    My file looks like:
    <students>
    <student id="1">
    </student>
    <student id="2">
    </student>
    <student id="3">

    </students>
    I need to select a specific <student> element. I've already tried few ways to achieve my goal but I failed.
    SELECT extract(OBJECT_VALUE,'/students/student') FROM students - works fine, but this selects all <student> elements
    SELECT extract(OBJECT_VALUE,'/students/student[1]') FROM students - which should select first <student> element works too but it causes exception when using JDBC driver returns:

    1) Why SELECT extract(OBJECT_VALUE,'/students/student') FROM students works but SELECT extract(OBJECT_VALUE,'/students/student[1]') FROM students does't ?
    2) Is there any way how I can select specific element (element XPath /students/student[@id="some value"]) and convert it to String?
    Thanks for your responses I would appreciate any suggestion
    Honza

    To be exact my <student> element is a bit complicated and looks like the one at the end of this post (sorry but it's in czech). And I need to select whole xml fragment (all opening and closing tags included) as it is shown. Maybe I used wrong solution and I should use CLOB storage. I discuss this issue here: Which solution for better perfomance?
    Thanks anyway for your response. I would be very grateful if you have any further idea

  • [CS3 JS WIN] Get XML Element of paragraph?

    Im trying to get the xml element of a selected paragraph.<br />ie:<br /><br /><item><br /><text><br /><code> This is some code </code>   <--this is selected in indesign<br /></text><br /></item><br /><br />When I try to use associatedXMLElements[0].xmlElements - it returns all different elements(item,text,code,etc) how do I get it to return the immediate XML Element?

    Well what I'm doing is selecting a textframe and then looping through the paragraphs, passing them to the procXML function which is when I try to get the xml element.
    The forums ate my structure:
    [item]
    [text]
    [code]This is some code[/code]
    [/text]
    [/item]

  • Create XML Element Tag BasedOn Found Character Style

    Hi,
    Good Day!
    Basically I want to search only for character styles that contains "ntb-", that is why it is hard coded in my searchString variable.
    Although I was able to create XML tag based on selected character style, but it will always add/insert at the end of the parent XML element.
    Can anyone could help me how insert/add that element at the insertion point where the text is found?
    Thanks,

    Here is a way you can find any field.
    Download the current template.
    Open it in word and go to the line that you are interested in.
    The blanket PO# will be a field. Right click on it and go to properties. You will see the xml element there.

  • Remove XML tags from XML element in Oracle

    Hi,
    I have a requirement where I have to remove all the xml tags from xml element with banks, currently I'm using replace 4 times to replace all different types of xml tags, performance is really bad. is there any better option to remove xml tags from xml data leaving the actual data. please find the example data below.
    select
    TO_CLOB(REPLACE(REPLACE(REPLACE(REPLACE
    ('<Concatcolumn><ConcatGroupID>MyText Data goes here </ConcatGroupID><ConcatGroupID>Data agian</ConcatGroupID></Concatcolumn>','<ConcatGroupID>'),'<Concatcolumn>'),'</ConcatGroupID>',';'),';</Concatcolumn>')) AS Concatcolumn
    from dual
    **************Out put*************
    MyText Data goes here ;Data agian

    One way is to use xquery:
    SQL> with t as
    select xmltype('<Concatcolumn>
                          <ConcatGroupID>MyText Data goes here </ConcatGroupID><ConcatGroupID>Data agian</ConcatGroupID></Concatcolumn>'
       ) xml from dual
    select xmlquery('string-join(//text(), ";")' passing xml returning content).getclobval() xml from t
    XML
    MyText Data goes here ;Data agian
    1 row selected.

  • Imported XSLT cannot create attributes for generated XML element

    I have two xslts. One imports the other.
    The imported xslt creates XML elements with attributes and this XML is stored in a variable in the main stylesheet
    If I perform the transformation with JRE prior to 1.6.0.18 then all works fine
    If I use 1.6.0.18 or 1.6.0.19 then the attributes aren't added.
    If I add attributes in the main xslt it works fine or if I output the element directly instead of first storing it in a variable then it also works fine.
    Problem seems to be when you try to add attributes from an imported stylesheet and store the generated element in a variable.
    Below two stylesheets to illustrate :
    First MainStylesheet.xsl
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

                    <TestElement testAttribute="$s" />
            </xsl:template>
    </xsl:stylesheet>The result output by jres before 1.6.0.18 is :

              <TestElement xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" testAttribute="testValue"/>
                   }          The result output by jres since 1.6.0.18 is :
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
                   *** GeneratedElementXML {
              <TestElement xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance">
                   }          Note : the 'testAttribute' attribute is missing

    Have found the difference in the code
    In both JRE1.6.0_17 & JRE1.6.0_18, the class 'com.sun.org.apache.xalan.internal.xsltc.dom.AdaptiveResultTreeImpl' has the following method
    public void addUniqueAttribute(String qName, String value, int flags)
            throws SAXException
            addAttribute(qName, value);
        }In JRE1.6.0_17 the next method is
    public void addAttribute(String name, String value)
         if (_openElementName != null) {
             _attributes.add(name, value);
         else {
             BasisLibrary.runTimeError(BasisLibrary.STRAY_ATTRIBUTE_ERR, name);
        }In JRE1.6.0_18 the next method is
    public void addAttribute(String uri, String localName, String qname,
                String type, String value)
         if (_openElementName != null) {
             _attributes.addAttribute(uri, localName, qname, type, value);
         else {
             BasisLibrary.runTimeError(BasisLibrary.STRAY_ATTRIBUTE_ERR, qname);
        }Note - the addAttribute method has additional parameters in JRE1.6.0_18 but the call from addUniqueAttribute wasn't updated.
    So in JRE1.6.0_18 addUniqueAttribute actually invokes the following method in the base package com.sun.org.apache.xml.internal.serializer.EmptySerializer
    public void addAttribute(String name, String value)
            aMethodIsCalled();
    void aMethodIsCalled()
            // throw new RuntimeException(err);
            return;
        }and as you can see this does nothing. Hence the fact that the attribute isn't added.

  • Multi-level nested tables for repeatable XML Elements

    Hi there,
    Suppose we have a XML Schema „ASchema“ like this (XMLDB schema annotations are left out for simplicity):
    <xs:schema xmlns:xs=" .... " />
    <xs:element name=“A“>
         <xs:complexType>
              <xs:sequence>
                   <xs:element name=“B“ maxOccurs=“unbounded“/>
                        <xs:complexType>
                             <xs:sequence>
                                  <xs:element name = “C“ maxOccurs=“unbounded“/>
                             </xs:sequence>
                        </xs:complexType>
                   </xs:element>
              </xs:sequence>
         </xs:complexType>
    </xs:element>
    </xs:schema>
    After registering this schema in Oracle, I can define a table like this:
    CREATE TABLE ATable
    id NUMBER,
    doc XMLTYPE
    XMLTYPE COLUMN doc
    XMLSCHEMA “ASchema“ ELEMENT “A“
    VARARRAY doc.“XMLDATA“.“B“ STORE AS TABLE “BTable“
    ((PRIMARY KEY (NESTED_TABLE_ID, SYS_NC_ARRAY_INDEX$)) ORGANIZATION INDEX)
    This creates a nested table "BTable" within the table "ATable". So far so good, I can use this nested table to gain faster access on every possible subelement of Element B when I set an appropriate index.
    I now want to create another nested table for element “C“ like this:
    DROP TABLE ATable;
    CREATE TABLE ATable
    id NUMBER,
    doc XMLTYPE
    XMLTYPE COLUMN doc
    XMLSCHEMA “ASchema“ ELEMENT “A“
    VARARRAY doc.“XMLDATA“.“B“ STORE AS TABLE “BTable“
    ((PRIMARY KEY (NESTED_TABLE_ID, SYS_NC_ARRAY_INDEX$)) ORGANIZATION INDEX)
    VARARRAY doc.“XMLDATA“.“B“.“C“ STORE AS TABLE “CTable“
    ((PRIMARY KEY (NESTED_TABLE_ID, SYS_NC_ARRAY_INDEX$)) ORGANIZATION INDEX)
    But this statement fails with the error message something like „ ... no such attribute ... „
    And here's my question: is it possible to create nested tables for repeatable XML Elements that are subelements of other repeatable XML Elements ? And if so, how can I do it ?
    Thank you very much in advance
    Jan

    Found a (partial) solution myself:
    If you add the attribute xdb:storeVarrayAsTable="true" to the root element of the XML schema, Oracle XMLDB generates nested tables for all repeatable XML Elements while registering the XML schema.
    Unfortunately, the names of these nested tables are system-generated, hence it's a bit uncomfortable to set indices on them. You can find out the names of these nested tables as follows:
    select table_name, parent_table_name, parent_table_column from user_nested_tables;
    Further information on that subject is supplied in the following thread:

    It would be nice if there was a way to name the generated nested tables via appropriate XMLDB schema annotations.

  • How to set dynamic color , based on xml element

    Hi,
    We have a requirement, where based on certain conditions, a cell will be shown in a specific color. We would like the coloir to be based on an XML element. The xml element will have values like '#FF00FF' etc..
    We tried using xsl attribute with the following syntax ,
    <xsl:attribute xdofo:ctx="block"name="color"><?stdcolor?></xsl:attribute><?end if?>
    where stdcolor is the xml element, but when we use this , this is giving a syntax error.
    Let us know, if this is possible or is there any other alternate way to do this.

    use the following :)
    <xsl:attribute xdofo:ctx="block" name="color" ><xsl:value-of select="stdcolor" /></xsl:attribute>
    TO get the colors you wanted , you can refer to
