Selecting a default row in an adf detail table problem

Hi, i'm hoping someone can help me as this problem is driving me to despair. I am using JDeveloper 10.1.3 production. All I want to do is set the first row selected in the detail af:table in my page. I have referred to the documentation available at http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/htdocs/partners/addins/exchange/jsf/doc/devguide/table.html#Single%20Selection and from this I have created the following code which I think should work.
public void setResourcesTable(CoreTable resourcesTable) {
this.resourcesTable = resourcesTable;
RowKeySet r = resourcesTable.getSelectionState();
if(r != null){
Iterator selection = r.getKeySet().iterator();
if(selection.hasNext()){
String rowKey = (String) selection.next();
resourcesTable.setRowKey(rowKey);
The main problem is that the getSelectionState() is returning null and I cant understand why. This happens regardless of whether or not there are any detail rows in the table. I havent been using JSF that long and so I apologise if i'm missing something obvious.
Please help me as I haven't been able to find any help throughout the forums apart from referring me to the same page and I cant believe that it can possibly be this difficult just to set the default row.
Thanks in advance,
Lee

mark,
Those four fields can be set completely declaratively in the Entity Object (check out the History Colum feature). Copied from the (11g) documentation:
If you need to keep track of historical information in your entity object, such as when an entity was created or modified and by whom, or the number of times the entity has been modified, you specify an attribute with the History Column option selected (in the Edit Attribute dialog).
If an attribute's data type is Number, String, or Date, and if it is not part of the primary key, then you can enable this property to have your entity automatically maintain the attribute's value for historical auditing. How the framework handles the attribute depends which type of history attribute you indicate:
* Created On: This attribute is populated with the time stamp of when the row was created. The time stamp is obtained from the database.
* Created By: The attribute is populated with the name of the user who created the row. The user name is obtained using the getUserPrincipalName() method on the Session object.
* Modified On: This attribute is populated with the time stamp whenever the row is updated/created.
* Modified By: This attribute is populated with the name of the user who creates or updates the row.
* Version Number: This attribute is populated with a long value that is incremented whenever a row is created or updated.

  • Multi-row insert in master-detail tables

    Hi, I'm using jdev 10.1.3.2 with jheadstart and my problem is:
    I hava a master-detail structure, both are tables and my goal is that I want multi insert (exactly 3) in master and detail table when user makes new order(some business scenario). I cannot create rows in master or detail VO by overriding create() method because its entities have complex primary keys and some part of this key is populated by the user with lov. So I set in jhs new rows to 3 and checked multi-row insert allowed but the problem is that overall I can only create rows in master table after I submit form. I want to create row in master table and fill rows in detail table, and after that I want to have opportunity to create second (or even third) row in master table and fill rows in detail table.
    thanks for help.

    See JHS DevGuide: 3.2.1. Review Database Design:
    If you are in the position to create or modify the database design, make sure all
    tables have a non-updateable primary key, preferably consisting of only one
    column. If you have updateable and/or composite primary keys, introduce a
    surrogate primary key by adding an ID column that is automatically populated.
    See section 3.2.4 Generating Primary Key Values for more info. Although ADF
    Business Components can handle composite and updateable primary keys, this
    will cause problems in ADF Faces pages. For example, an ADF Faces table
    manages its rows using the key of the underlying row. If this key changes,
    unexpected behavior can occur in your ADF Faces page. In addition, if you want
    to provide a drop down list on a lookup tables to populate a foreign key, the
    foreign key can only consists of one column, which in turn means the referenced
    table must have a single primary key column.

  • Keeping Row Highlighted In Master-Detail Table

    JDev 11.1.2.0
    I have a small .jsf page with a master-detail setup, using 2 tables.
    When I select a row in the master table, the detail table is populated as expected.
    When I select a row in the detail table, the row is no longer highlighted on the master table.
    Is there any way to have the row selection in the master table remain highlighted while the user is clicking around the detail table?
    I am not sure if it matters but I have manually added filtering to both tables.
    Thank you.

    Any help would be appreciated.

  • How to avoid default row on top of a table

    Dear Members,
    I have created a simple JSF page using ADF.
    In the page, I am displaying departments and employee data.
    Departments data is displayed using the ADF Form and the employee data is displayed using ADF Table.
    When I am running the page a default row is appearing above the ADF Table.
    I request you to please let me know, how to avoid this default row displayed on top of the table.
    Many thanks in advance.

  • Master table / detail table: Problem refreshing the content

    Hi,
    I have a Master table/detail table on my page. When I add a new row to the master or detail table, the new row is inserted in the database, but not shown in the ADF Tables on the page. After restarting the OC4J the ADF Tables show the correct data, including the new rows.
    While dropping the collection on my page there were one methodIterator and two accessorIterators created.
    In several tutorials the solution for the refresh problem is to change the chacheResult parameter of the methodIterator to false. But this causes in "No row found for rowKey:null" errors.
    An other solution should be to create a new invokeAction with the id "tableRefresh" and the corresponding RefreshConditions. This doesn't helps, too.
    So how could I solve this problem? I want to update/refresh the master and detail table, after I inserted a new row.
    Thanks,
    Thomas

    Hi,
    thanks for your answer.
    Sorry, but I forgot to say, that I am using Jdev 10.1.3.1, Toplink, ADF and EJB3.
    I think I will give some further informations about the scenario. I created the m/d table by drag-and-droping the object out of the data control palette on site A. Each row stores a goLink item, which navigates to a new page B. After creating and saving the new entry the user navigates back to the page with the m/d table (page A). Storing the new entry is handled by an action in the page B managed bean.
    Now the question: How could I re-execute in page B backing bean the iterator which is stored in page A? Could this be handled by an invokeAction? Or is it possible to get access to the iterator used and stored on another page (definition)?
    Thanks,
    Thomas

    You're here in the Sun JSF forum, not in the Oracle JSF forum.
    Try here: JDeveloper and ADF
    If the ADF datatable is technically comparable with the RI datatable, check http://balusc.xs4all.nl/srv/dev-jep-dat.html to get some insights how to retrieve the selected row object.

  • Master Detail : Default value to '0' in Detail

    Hi All,
    I am new to Apex. I need some assistance with a Master-Detail form I created in Oracle APEX. The detail table has few columns and during ADD ROW (@ detail level), I have been trying to default the values in the detail table to '0'. But, I have had no luck with my multiple attempts. Can the experts please tell me how to get the default values working? I really appreciate your assistance
    Thanks!!

    Hi Ben,
    I have Master/Detail page which I have created. In Detail section I have close to 15 columns. In that 10 are number columns. In those number columns when I do a add row I would like to have a default value of '0'. Lets say I have Price column and in that column I would like to have a default value of '0'. I have tired a lot but could not figure it out. Please let me know if its not clear. I can put some examples.
    Thanks!

  • More than one Detail table in the Master Detail forms!

    Hi,
    I need to have more than one Detail table in Master Detail Forms.
    I want to see the details of the rows of the first Detail table in the Second Detail table. Please guide me to do this.
    Sincerely yours,
    Mozhdeh

    You can do one of two things
    1) Depends on the nature of your data model. I was able to manage many to many
    relationships using views and instead of triggers. This solution is somewhat complex but can work in certain situations.
    2)Works for situations where master record exists. create a page with mulitple portlets syncronized on some related key.
    create the following package to use on the md forms to place on the one page to be rendered.
    -- this package will facilitate the storage and retrieval of keys used by the related forms.
    create or replace package session_var
    IS
    session_parms portal30.wwsto_api_session;
    g_domain varchar2(2000) := portal30.wwctx_api.get_user;
    function get_id (id in varchar2) return number;
    PROCEDURE SET_ID
    (ID in VARCHAR2
    ,p_val in VARCHAR2
    ,P_URL in VARCHAR2
    END SESSION_VAR;
    create or replace package body session_var
    IS
    --pkg body
    function get_id(id in varchar2) return number is
    l_store_session portal30.wwsto_api_session;
    l_id number;
    begin
    l_store_session := portal30.wwsto_api_session.load_session(

    p_url= url/page/"your_page"
    --finally create a report (QBE or standard).
    in the column formation section use the link created earlier to direct the user to the target page.
    How it works.
    When the link is selected the form_session_Var is called and automatically runs setting the primary key values
    in the user session store. The step is required or the resulting page will not render properly. Then the user is redirected to the page where the portlets are rendered. The portlets start rendering, the before display page calls the session vars package to retrieve the key and put the form into query_update mode returning the data.
    The portlets finish in query_and_save mode with details in update mode, the allowable insert, delete and none actions will be available for the details.
    benefits: The session_Var package code is resuable as well as the form form_session_Var and the link. passing the key name and values are done at the report level and detailed in the report links. the md forms will need to reference their related keys.

  • ADF master-detail master selection not updating detail tables properly

    Hi All,
    I am using JDev version : 11.1.2.0.0
    I created new Fusion Web Application Module. In that module I created a master-detail data model and added them to a page fragment with a query panel. When I run it as a separate module, It works perfectly and Master selection correctly updates detail tables.
    But when I integrate that module to another Fusion Application(Add application jar file to the Master Application libraries), Master-details master selection not updating detail tables properly. This problem occurred sequentially.
    The problem is that.
    After the page load, first selection of the Master Table works correctly and detail tables update correctly.
    But second selection doesn't work, means detail table doesn't get update according to the Master table.
    And again in the third selection works correctly.
    This happens in a sequential manner. I monitor the behavior using Firebug. Observations are as follows,
    When running correctly, Response of the Post Definition is

    Hi,
    sound to be an implementation specific issue that is hard to comment on without knowing how to reproduce it. If you have a rerooducible test case based on the Oracle HR schema using JDeveloper 11.1.1.6, zip it up, rename the "zip "extension to "unzip" and sent it to the mail address you find in my OTN profile. If you don't have that test case, explain how this can be reproduced

  • ADF Master Table, Inline Detail Table - How to Scroll Range/Disclose Row

    JDev 10.1.3.2 ADF/BC
    I really need some help here. I've tried as many things as I could think of and I still cannot get this to work.
    Scenario: I have query/result page. User clicks a link in the result table to take him to another page. This page has a Master table, Inline detail table component (bound to a tree in the pageDef). Before the page renders, all I want to do is scroll the Master table to the current row (based on the previous query/result via invokeAction in pageDef) and disclose the inline detail. Simple, right? In addition, I'll need to scroll the inline detail to the current row as well.
    I would like to do this prior to the components rendering but would be interested in any coding to scroll and disclose.
    Thanks in advance,
    Tom

    I've come up with a solution to my problem. Unfortunately I'm not able to manipulate the table prior to rendering but this solution is probably the closest I'm going to get. Here is my code:
    I set up a af:poll component to fire once on my jspx.
        public void poll_PollListener(PollEvent pollEvent) {
            if (this.getFromProcess("unitRowKeyValue") != null) {
                int curIndx = this.getIteratorBinding("UnitsIterator").getRowSetIterator().getCurrentRowIndex();
                this.getUnitTree().setFirst(curIndx);
                if (this.getFromProcess("systemRowKeyValue") != null) {
                    this.getUnitTree().setRowIndex(curIndx);
                    DisclosureEvent de = new DisclosureEvent(this.getUnitTree(), true);
                    this.getUnitTree().queueEvent(de);
                this.storeOnProcess("renderPoll", false);
        }The setFirst method scrolls the table to the index specified. If the user, in my case, has selected a detail item (system), I want to disclose the detail. First I need to setRowIndex to the current index and then I fire a disclose event.
        public void unitTreeDisclosureListener(DisclosureEvent disclosureEvent) {
             if (disclosureEvent.isExpanded()) {
                 CoreTable coreTable = (CoreTable)disclosureEvent.getSource();
                 RowKeySet rks = new RowKeySet();
                 Object test = coreTable.getRowKey();
                 rks.getKeySet().add(coreTable.getRowKey());
                 coreTable.setDisclosureState(rks);
          }If I don't set the rowKey via the setRowIndex method above, the getRowKey does not return a valid rowKey. In my case, I only want one master row to be disclosed at a time.
    This all works great except for a bit of flicker to process the PPR request for the component.
    Next step is to see if I can scroll the Inline Detail table to the detail row selected in the Query/Result page.

  • ADF 11g - Selecting a certain row for a Form

    First of all hello and my apologies if this issues has been discussed here before (tried searching for it for a while. maybe I don't understand the problem right?).
    Let me describe my context a bit : i got 2 tables, table2 contains an attribute(Index_Code) that is a Foreign Key for the attribute Index in Table1.
    I got an ADF:Table in a JSP page with Table2View source(read-only) and I would like to be able to select a row in the table and then move to another JSP page where I i have an ADF:Form (Table2View+Table1View). The problem for me is that the row for Table2View in the 2nd JSP page is not selecting correctly (it always selects the 1st entry and not the entry with the Index_Code that i want). I want to add that in the Data Controls tab if I expand Table1View , i have the appropiate Table2View inside of it. But if i expand the Table2View node I don't have Table1View inside of it.
    I'm pretty sure this is a very simple procedure, and I've been trying to google for a solution for 2 days now and I'm beggining to think it is such a simple solution that no one even bothers explaining it :). So i've posted this thread as my last resort.

    Hi Marius,
    It is not exactly clear for me what do you want but from your description I guess you have two View Objects : Table1View and Table2View and one View Link defining Table1View as master and Table2View as detail.
    So in DataControl palette it is logical that only Table1View node is expandable with Table2View inside. Now if you put Table1View to jspx page as master af:table and Table2View as a detail table the detail table will reflect to change of the row in master table. If you put Table2View as a af:table alone also to second jspx page the framework will remember which row you selected on the first page when you navigate to second one.

  • ADF 10.1.3.3 - Set current row on detail table in master/detail

    I want my master/detail form to remember the row the user selected in the detail table before pressing submit/commit.

  • How to restrict the default selection of first row in ALV  in Webdynpro

    Hi Experts,
    In webdynpro i used ALV to display the bulk amount of datas under a view container. While running it ll cme by default selection on first row. how to restrict that.....

    Hi Vimal,
    Whenever we create nodes then by default the Initialization lead selection property of  node is always checked. That why in the alv by default the first row is selected.
    To restrict this default selection just unchecked the Initialization lead selection property of your node.

  • Select and highlight a default row in a table

    Hi everybody.
    When using a table in WD, the first line is selected and highlighted by default.
    I'd like to reproduce the same behaviour but this time, the selected and highlighted row shouldn't be the first row but any other one that has to be defined previously.
    How could I do that??
    Thanks for any suggestions you may have.
    Regards,
    C.

    For example I have a node SFLIGHT which am using to display data in tabular format on my layout. I have attached a supply function POPULATE_DATA to my context node SFLIGHT to fetch & populate the node.
    METHOD populate_data .
      DATA: lt_sflight TYPE wd_this->elements_sflight.
      SELECT carrid
             connid
             fldate
             price FROM sflight INTO TABLE lt_sflight.
      node->bind_table( new_items = lt_sflight ).
    ENDMETHOD.
    And within my WDDOINIT method am programmatically setting the LeadSelection to the 3rd row as how shown below:
    METHOD wddoinit .
      DATA: wd_node TYPE REF TO if_wd_context_node.
      wd_node = wd_context->get_child_node( name = 'SFLIGHT' ).
      wd_node->set_lead_selection_index( '3' ).
    ENDMETHOD.
