Selecting an LOV item to return values in antother item based on selection

I am having some difficulty hard coding a page item P3_INVOICE_STATUS value to return/ display values depending on a multiple select list on another item P3_EXCEPTION_REASON'. Example when i select from a drop down list on P3_EXCEPTION_REASON' = is a drop down LOVs, I’d like to select from = YES/ NO/ NA, and would like that to return/ display COMPLETE/ PENDING / REVIEW respectively, depending on what is selected.
Can anyone please help

to create application level process:
1. go to shared component
2. in logic section there is "application processes", in which you can create process
3. For item you can click "application item".

LOV does not return value to the base page sometimes

Hi,
I have created messageLOV type items. These LOVs do return value to the base page usually. We have a user in Uruguay who is trying to use the page which has the LOVs. He says the LOV takes a long time to return to the main page after he clicks on quick select and also the value does not get populated in the main page.
We have not been facing any such problem here in India. The LOV has been tested rigorously with no issues as such.
Can you please suggest a reason why such a problem is occuring? Expecting your replies soon

Can you please give me the inputs about the creation of LOV and it requires how many lov mappings as mandatory?
This is there in the devguideHow to identify the mapping fields of an LOV which is already existing in the base page to reproduce in a similar way and need to do a customization on top of it ?

How to create a display value and a return value for an item

Hi! I have an item on a form. I want the default value for my item to be :":APP_USER", but the return value, to be the id of my user. I tried to create a PL/SQL Expression for the default item, but it doesn't work. What do I miss?
It should be something like this, but it's not.

Hi VItaly,
Display value and return value concept applies very well in case of a Combo box if i am correct, I don't know what type of item is your's.
But any way, you can have a workaround like,
Create a hidden item such that it's default value should be ID of the user which can be get from db by using :APP_USER.
Use the this item for your references.
I think this will meet your requirement.

LOV Displays the Return Value when Read Only

I searched for a question/answer for this, but didn't find this exact scenario mentioned, but I may have missed it. If you know of this already been asked/answered just point me to the thread.
On APEX version - 4.1.1.00.23
I have a LOV that is populated by a dynamic action from another LOV. That works great. Depending on the value of another page item the 2nd LOV is Editable or Read Only. The problem is that when the 2nd LOV is Read Only the result value (an ID) displays instead of the display value.
1 - Why is this?
2 - How do I prevent this from happening?
Also, I don't want 2 separate page items (one for edit, one for display) for the 2nd LOV, because the 2nd LOV also has a dynamic action on it to populate a 3rd LOV. The population of the 3rd LOV works great, whether the 2nd LOV is editable or read only.

I've decided to try a different approach. Since the Select List LOV was Read Only and not populating correctly it was causing a session state error when inserting the row. So, I've made the Select List LOV editable, but it shouldn't be. I now need to disable the page item using JavaScript to prevent it from being changed. I need to do so only when a page item contains a certain value.
Will someone share an example of JavaScript snippet of code I need to use? (I'm not much of a JavaScript coder.)
The page item I need to disable is named - P10_DEFECT_HEADER_ID
I need to disable it when P10_MAP_TYPE = 'P'

LOV look up return value

dearl all
i want to save a list of records in lov,..
i choose an item list in lov then it will go to the return value where i wanna edit and save the changes but the problem is whenever i save the changes, it duplicate the records or items in lov list..
my button is when button pressed trigger

but the problem of this code when i choose a list item in lov then change and save first it works, it save the changes but when i choose again the list in lov items and edit then save it wont work it duplicates the record. i can only used once the save button , i have to exit to the programs and run again to enable to save again the changes.
what i want is can save the changes and it woud not duplicate the records in lov list.

if u edit the 3rd record the first record will be changes and save not the 3 record. always first record....

Return values for a Form based on a procedure

Hi,
I am fairly new to Portal Applications.
I have a form based on a procedure.
The procedure has an IN OUT parameter and what happens at the moment is that once the submit button is pressed the IN OUT parameter is displayed on a new page.
My question is...
How do I display the returned value in a field on the form?

Clearing Value in one Prompt based on selection in another

Hello,
I have 2 prompts in my BEx query designer for same characterstics ( one is single value, characterstic variable and another one is Hierarchy node variable ). During the query execution, If user selects a value in first prompt and goes to the other prompt and selects a value, i need to clear the selected value in the first prompt. And vice versa as well.....
Please suggest.

Let me explain my isue in detail...
I have created 2 variables for the same characterstics and both of them are ready for input. One variable is of characterstic type and other is Hierarchy node type.
Now, when user executes the query he sees two prompts. Lets say user selects a value for one prompt and then goes to second prompt and selects another value for the second prompt, then i need to clear the values that was selected by him for the first prompt. And vice versa....

which is ok as this is a totally unique number so on the cart page i need to get all the size information from that stockID
here is an example:-
i have used a stockID of 355
on the cart.php the stockID is echoed out as 355 and the size is echoed out as 355 which is what i would expect.
the stock table looks like this
StockID | ProductID | SizeID | Stock
355   |    582    |   14    |    5
so
ProductID is blue jumper
Stock id is unique number
SizeID = 14 = once size
Stock = 5 in stock
so i need to in the cart say
355 = 14 = one size
i can then echoe out the correct size as one size and not 355

I sent the stockID on;y to the cart page, made a new variable based on the stockID the made a query and got all the information based on the new stockID variable

Select list not setting a return value

I have defined a select list based on a named LOV. With the default values for the SOURCE section I do not seem to be getting a value returned, as indicated in the following debug output:
0.05: parse query
0.05: binding: ":P1_SALESMANAGER_SHOW"="P1_SALESMANAGER_SHOW" value=""
0.05: print column headings
0.05: rows loop: 15 row(s)
no data found
If I change the Source Type to SQL Query and enter the query in Source Value or Expression I get the behaviour I would expect that the value returned is always the first row returned by the query, no matter which one I pick from the list.
What do I need to set so it behaves correctly?

How do I generate all the page item attributes to send you? What do you mean by "see the page" - do you want me to submit the generated HTML source?
In the meantime, I have dropped the select list item and am now re-creating it as follows:
- Click the Item Create icon
- Choose Select List
- For Select List Control Type, accept the default of Select List and click Next.
- Item name = P1_SALESMANAGER_SHOW and click Next
- Choose a named LOV, enter null value / text and click Next
- Accept default item attributes and click Next, then Create Item
This is exactly in accordance with the instructions for the example page in Chapter 2 of the 2-day Tutorial.
Run the page, exactly the same result. Clicking Debug shows that P1_SALESMANAGER_SHOW .value is set to null, even though I have picked one of the displayed values.
I need to do a proof-of-technology demo of HTMLDB to my managers this week so would really appreciate your advice to get this going.

Passing DB values to the textbox based on Select Value item

I am very much new to the Oracle APEX. In my project, I have a requirement wherein I have to pass the different values to the corresponding textboxes on a different page based on the value I select from the "Select Value" item.
I have tried using calling On-Demand Processes, but couldn't get the desired result.

Welcome to the forum. It will be good if you familiarize yourself with the forum ettiquittes. Also, when posting always state the following:
a. Apex version
b. DB version
c. Web server ; EPG, apexlistener, etc
d. Provide adequate details for others to understand your problem / what you are trying to achieve.
e. Any code snippets you post should be enclosed in a pair of tags
If your current problem is that the you are *calling* Page 2 from Page 1, and while doing so you want the value of P1_ITEM1 to be passed and set in p2_ITEM1 then
a. Edit the branch
b. In Action in Set these items write P2_ITEM1
c. In With these values write &P1_ITEM1. (do not miss the dot at the end)
It looks good if you use a better handle than 796444 :-)

CreateInsert and LOV with multiple return values

HI. I am on Build JDEVADF_11.1.2.3.0_GENERIC_120914.0223.6276.1
I have a View Object which is based on Entity Object.
View Object has customer_name and customer_id attributes.
customer_name attribute has LOV (input field with LOV) based on some other View Object (which of caurse holds customer name and customer id data)
I defined that when LOV return the chosen values it will populate customer_name with "Customer Name" value and customer_id with "Customer Id" value
All atributes are updatable
I droped my View Object on the page and also "CreateInsert" buton. When I click on "CreateInsert" button, I can see new row added as expected, customer_name field has LOV. I can choose from LOV and can see customers and customer_id data. But when I click OK in the LOV pop-up only customer_name attribute is populated!
I do see that customer_id is returned from LOV (I implemented ReturnPopupEvent listener), but still the customer id remains empty.
I though maybe I need to add LOV as auto submit = true and set LOV to be a partial trigger for customer_id. But still - it didn't help
However, if I run Application Module tester, I do get what I want. I can create new row and when I change customer name , both customer name and customer id fields are populated

On Lov VO, make sure you have at least one or combination of attributes as Key attribute. and re test.

SQL - Select Help - Case When? Return Value from Second Table?

Hi - next to folks on this board I am probably somewhere between a Beginner and an Intermediate SQL user.
Ive been using a case when statement in plsql to find "all those who's status in any program was cancelled during a specific time, but have become or are still active in a second program"
So, Im effectively trying to return a value from a second table in a case when, but its not liking anthing other than a declared text like 'Yes' or 'No'.
Here is the select statement - is there another way to do this where I can get the results I need?

The outer join will link show all records from the p table and only records from q if the party_id matches, ie q.party_id and q.program_id will be null if there is no match.

R12: Supplier Banking Details - LOV does not return value

Hi!
I am having a problem when selecting a Bank for a supplier.
I click on the icon to open the LOV and search for the bank i want to add for a particular supplier.
When i click on the select button, the value of the bank name does not appear in the text box.
In another environment it works perfectly.

In R12, while defining the bank and bank accounts, there is a section called ACCOUNT OWNER and USE, where we specify that this bank can be used for which application for e.g. Payables, Payroll, Recievables and Treasury,
Can you please check that the above bank account is enabled for use by Payables application.
I am thinking that might be one of the cause , why the bank name is not available at the supplier level..

Item Field returning value with hash character in Itemupdating?

I am trying to get value of item field from the list. The field is a lookup field with integer value. When I am trying get the value it is coming like 9;#9 (shown below). But I need only 9.

Changing value in drop-down based on selected value in another drop-down

Hi,
I have two drop-downs - changing value in Combo1, should cause the form to be submitted and values to be populated in Combo 2.
Approaches i tried - 1) I am using an ActionListener. I am having a valueChange method which accepts an action event. However this appraoch is not working for me. 2) I was wondering if I could use Javacsript to catch the OnChange event , the javascript function would call an appropirate method in my ActionListener. I know in Struts its straightforward, but how do i achive the same here in JSF.
Any tips would be helpful.

Try using ValueChangeListener instead of ActionListener.
Here's a working example of a ValueChangeListener. You can customize it and use it for your application.
The JSP will look like this:
