  • LOV does not return value to the base page sometimes

    Hi,
I have created messageLOV type items. These LOVs do return value to the base page usually. We have a user in Uruguay who is trying to use the page which has the LOVs. He says the LOV takes a long time to return to the main page after he clicks on quick select and also the value does not get populated in the main page.
We have not been facing any such problem here in India. The LOV has been tested rigorously with no issues as such.
Can you please suggest a reason why such a problem is occuring? Expecting your replies soon
    Thanks,
    Priya

Thiyaga, did you read the devguide or the tutorial ?
Can you please give me the inputs about the creation of LOV and it requires how many lov mappings as mandatory?
This is there in the devguideHow to identify the mapping fields of an LOV which is already existing in the base page to reproduce in a similar way and need to do a customization on top of it ?
Open the page XML and you can find the LOV mappings.Tapash

  • I'm looking for return value if trigger level is reached,in LABVIEW .NO data acquisition.

I won't like to acquire data with the analog input , only a return value if the trigger level is reached, dearest a Bool expression to control another function, only to activate or deactivate this function. I use the PCI MIO 16E1 and Labview 6 and i hope there is someone who can help ; -)

The DAQ Occurence will probably be the best option for you. It can be set to generate an occurence (interrupt) at a particular level. You won't get a BOOL output. Instead, you have another node (Wait on Occurence) that doesn't allow execution to continue until the occurence is generated.
Otherwise, you may have to do a point-point comparison.

  • CreateInsert and LOV with multiple return values

HI. I am on Build JDEVADF_11.1.2.3.0_GENERIC_120914.0223.6276.1
I have a View Object which is based on Entity Object.
View Object has customer_name and customer_id attributes.
customer_name attribute has LOV (input field with LOV) based on some other View Object (which of caurse holds customer name and customer id data)
I defined that when LOV return the chosen values it will populate customer_name with "Customer Name" value and customer_id with "Customer Id" value
    All atributes are updatable
I droped my View Object on the page and also "CreateInsert" buton. When I click on "CreateInsert" button, I can see new row added as expected, customer_name field has LOV. I can choose from LOV and can see customers and customer_id data. But when I click OK in the LOV pop-up only customer_name attribute is populated!
I do see that customer_id is returned from LOV (I implemented ReturnPopupEvent listener), but still the customer id remains empty.
I though maybe I need to add LOV as auto submit = true and set LOV to be a partial trigger for customer_id. But still  - it didn't help
However, if I run Application Module tester, I do get what I want. I can create new row and when I change customer name , both customer name and customer id fields are populated
    Please advice

    Hi Michael,
On Lov VO, make sure you have at least one or combination of attributes as Key attribute. and re test.

  • Selecting an LOV item to return values in antother item based on selection

I am having some difficulty hard coding a page item P3_INVOICE_STATUS value to return/ display values depending on a multiple select list on another item P3_EXCEPTION_REASON'. Example when i select from a drop down list on P3_EXCEPTION_REASON' = is a drop down LOVs, I’d like to select from = YES/ NO/ NA, and would like that to return/ display COMPLETE/ PENDING / REVIEW respectively, depending on what is selected.
    Can anyone please help
I am still a novist in APEX .

    hi,
    to create application level process:
    1. go to shared component
    2. in logic section there is "application processes", in which you can create process
    3. For item you can click "application item".

  • LOV Displays the Return Value when Read Only

    Greetings,
I searched for a question/answer for this, but didn't find this exact scenario mentioned, but I may have missed it. If you know of this already been asked/answered just point me to the thread.
    On APEX version - 4.1.1.00.23
I have a LOV that is populated by a dynamic action from another LOV. That works great. Depending on the value of another page item the 2nd LOV is Editable or Read Only. The problem is that when the 2nd LOV is Read Only the result value (an ID) displays instead of the display value.
    1 - Why is this?
2 - How do I prevent this from happening?
Also, I don't want 2 separate page items (one for edit, one for display) for the 2nd LOV, because the 2nd LOV also has a dynamic action on it to populate a 3rd LOV. The population of the 3rd LOV works great, whether the 2nd LOV is editable or read only.
    = = = = = = = 2nd LOV SQL = = = = = = =
    select sub_com_desc||' - '||commodity_desc d, defect_code_header_id r
    from qcis_defect_code_header
    where inactive_date IS NULL and plant_id = :P10_PLANT_ID
    order by sub_com_desc
    = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
    Thanks, Tony

I've decided to try a different approach. Since the Select List LOV was Read Only and not populating correctly it was causing a session state error when inserting the row. So, I've made the Select List LOV editable, but it shouldn't be. I now need to disable the page item using JavaScript to prevent it from being changed. I need to do so only when a page item contains a certain value.
Will someone share an example of JavaScript snippet of code I need to use? (I'm not much of a JavaScript coder.)
The page item I need to disable is named - P10_DEFECT_HEADER_ID
    I need to disable it when P10_MAP_TYPE = 'P'
    Thanks, Tony

  • R12: Supplier Banking Details - LOV does not return value

    Hi!
I am having a problem when selecting a Bank for a supplier.
I click on the icon to open the LOV and search for the bank i want to add for a particular supplier.
When i click on the select button, the value of the bank name does not appear in the text box.
In another environment it works perfectly.
    Please help..
    Vik

    Hi Vik,
In R12, while defining the bank and bank accounts, there is a section called ACCOUNT OWNER and USE, where we specify that this bank can be used for which application for e.g. Payables, Payroll, Recievables and Treasury,
Can you please check that the above bank account is enabled for use by Payables application.
I am thinking that might be one of the cause , why the bank name is not available at the supplier level..
    Thanks

  • Lookup return value string as Function

The only way which I know of is to define mapping parameters with the IsExprVar flag checked; then you can provide each individual business rule for one session run, source all records which have to be processed by this particular business rule and process them, and repeat the whole process until all business rules have been used. Regards,Nico

Hi,I have a requirement to load close to 100 files. Each files has different business rules. Business Rules are saved in tableI'm planning to create one stage mapping and use the lookup to read the business rule apply them, but INFA is treating the look up return values as string  and not as function.. Is there a way to make INFA treat them as function Eg: Business Rule : col1|| col2 INFA load them as "col1||col2", instead of subsituting col1 value  Thanks

  • Adding look up items(return values) in LOV

    hi
i'm a student plz be patient, using form6i and run in c\s , i encounter a problem that , cannot add lov look up item or return items..
example are: i have a num1 and num2 in lov.. when i look up this items in text1=num1 and text3=num.. then it will the answer will go to num3..
i put in property of text3. formula then :num.text1+num2.text2
but it says that cannot add lov items...plz help

    step for step:
    you have 3 items
you have returned the first two values in item_1 and item_2
    you have a formula on item_3 which calc's item_1 and item_2
create a new lov for testing
first : without return-values --- is the lov creatable ?
second : now you assign the lov-values to item_1
    third : and now item_2
are there problems doing this 3 steps?

  • Double Quotes In LOV Return Value Being Replaced With &qu ot; By APEX 4

My company recently upgraded our development and test boxes to APEX 4.0.2, which we have been wanting for a while now. We discovered that since the upgrade some of our checkboxes and radio groups no longer work as expected. What I mean by this is that the return values being checked for were not correct, and on several occasions we received PL/SQL errors related to numeric to character conversion issues.
After debugging some it turns out that we have the following LOV query for one of our Checkboxes:
    select
    statement d,
    stmt_id || '" title="&P20_FORM_STMT. ' || statement || '.' r
    from
    stmts
The return value for the LOV is setup so that it would return a 508 compliant checkbox. We were told we needed a title for each value of a checkbox or radio group to be 508 compliant. These titles must also be relevant to the selection being made, hence the substitution string being used in the return value.
What I discovered in all of this is that APEX 3.2 did not convert the double quotes in our return value to &qu ot;, but APEX 4.0.2 does. This causes the value of any given checkbox or radio group to look like the following:
value="1&qu ot; title=&qu ot;This is the statement that I have made."
And what we are looking for, and what APEX used to do is this:
value="1" title="This is the statement that I have made."
Does anyone know a way to prevent APEX from converting the double quotes to &qu ot;, or is there a way to insert an element attribute for each checkbox or radio group value that contains a substitution string?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
    I have a classic report, which has a count column that is hyperlinked. using the standard apex column hyperlink option. In that we have the option of passing values. I noticed that when I am passing a value which has "/" in it, it replaces the / with & #x2F;
I have created a application item which I am populating with the report column.
Because of which I cannot use that value in the report query.
Any suggestions?Yes. Don't pass string values in URLs. Especially where it is possible for these strings to contain URI reserved or APEX sensitive characters. This might work for a while but your application can be broken months from now by users including a "&" or ":" in data that gets passed as a URL parameter. Whilst it is possible to escape strings to make them URL- and APEX parameter-safe, it is much better practice to avoid the problem altogether.
Exposing data in the URL may also introduce security vulnerabilities. Also note that the maximum length of a URL in Microsoft Internet Explorer is about 2KB, which can easily be exceeded by throwing a few string values at it.
Only use discrete alphanumeric key values as URL parameters. In target pages/regions, use these key values to retrieve the required data using item source attributes and processes.

  • Apex 4 Cascading LOV's how to set a child LOV back to null return value

    Hi,
My problem is I am using the new Dynamic Actions to implement Cascading LOV functionality in Apex 4 which means not having to submit the page to update child LOVs after parent LOV changes.
What I am finding is that when you change the parent LOV value then the child LOV (which has a null return value) is not defaulting to the null return value (in my case no selection should return -1) if its list is filtered to a different set of values which doesnt have a valid selection. The child LOV is left without a selection when I need it to default back to the null return value (-1, representing all values).
Also I was hoping to do this before the page is submitted so the filtering down the hierarchy of LOVs will work where the child is null (-1, meaning all values) and in turn its child LOV(s) will filter also from the null child value.
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi 804641,
I'm not sure if I get your problem and I tried to reproduce it.
http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=2672:6 is my example with a cascading LOV where I have also defined a dynamic action which fires when P6_EMPNO changes and it shows the current selection.
Maybe it helps if you setup an example on apex.oracle.com and provide the workspace/user/pwd so that I can have a look. I'm also not sure about your sentence "using the new Dynamic Actions to implement Cascading LOV functionality", because dynamic actions are not needed for cascading LOVs. It's a feature of the item types themselves where you just have to set the "Cascading LOV Parent Item(s)" attribute.
    Regards

  • Multi valued LOV - Display vs return

    APEX 4.2.1
On a form view, when there is a multi-valued LOV (checkbox, shuttle, multi-select list, etc), APEX item value in session state is a colon-delimited list and this is what gets saved to the varchar2 column in the database table. Assuming there is a simple lookup table to translate display/return values, on the report view for this data, how can this value (e.g. 1:2:3) be shown using the display values (e.g. One:Two:Three) instead?
    Thanks

    VANJ wrote:
Paul - I do agree and most of the time I am a stickler for proper database design. But for simple data-gathering exercises (think a typical customer satisfaction form with a bunch of questions, some of which are Choose all that apply ), creating itty-bitty tables (one per such column) for just this purpose seems like overkill.Would websheets be any use in that space? (Not something I've really looked into.)
Alternatively, one could simply setup the LOV to have the same display/return values and then the column could store One:Two:Three so the problem goes away. That was going to be my next suggestion.
But that would preclude the use of a user-editable LOV table where the user can change the display value(s) but keep the (stored) return value(s) unchanged.User-modifiable look-ups would be getting away from my definition of "simple data-gathering exercises" involving "itty-bitty tables".
Even if the data were to be stored in normal form, the report view would need to show 1 row regardless of the number of LOV choices, so the report query would have to use scalar sub-queries using string aggregation (e.g. LISTAGG function in Oracle 11gR2) of the form
    select
    (select stragg(m1.display_val) from detail1 d1, mapping1 m1 where d1.code=m1.code and d1.pk = m.pk) detail1,
    (select stragg(m2.display_val) from detail2 d2, mapping2 m2 where d2.code=m2.code and d2.pk = m.pk) detail2,
from master mNot exactly elegant SQL, so then why be a stickler for normal form, just continue with the dirty hacks :-) Or am I missing something? And even less elegant when you add the code required to un-nest the delimited list. The last major APEX project I worked on use this [anti]pattern a lot (albeit using tables in proper normal form). I'm not keen on the resulting HTML structures either (unless they're nested lists). I was involved there too late to convince them to use some other presentation in the reports, but did manage to change the display value aggregation from using custom PL/SQL functions with cursor loops to inline SQL using <tt>xmlagg</tt>. (Since most of the time these display values were links some inelegant SQL and violation of separated concerns was involved. <tt>xmlagg</tt> has some benefits over <tt>listagg</tt> in this use case: works on 10g; semantic HTML for the aggregated values (e.g. lists) can easily be produced using SQL/XML; aggregates larger than 4000 byte VARCHAR2s can be returned using <tt>xmlserialize</tt>. The report break formatting enhancements detailed in Feature Request ABPF are badly needed to enable this kind of thing to be done declaratively.)
So....is there a way to have my cake and eat it too? Off-the-wall, unhinged, untested, and almost certainly very inefficient brainstorm: create a view consisting of a column with every possible combination of the value columns and another with the corresponding display value combination, and perform an outer join on the aggregated values...

    text_item,query
i have inserted into the xx_query table

    values(text_item2,'select sysdate-1 from dual');
I have created a record group dynamically and i am getting the query from the query column of the xx_query table into the record group(say test_rg)
I have created a LOV test_lov and thr set_lov_property i have populated the test_rg query into the test_LOV
is it possible for me to set the return item of the LOV dynamically so that i can get the LOV on the item which i want to ?
    thanks

    Hi All
    thanks for your responses
I have Created a control item and assigned the return value of the LOV to the control item
and i have assigned the LOV to the text item that i want
Currently when i navigate to the text item the LOV is visible
but when i select a value from the LOV the value is not getting populated into the text item
I have assigned the value of the control item to the text item
but i am not sure in which trigger to write the code so as when i select the value from the LOV the value should be shown on the form populating in the text item
