Selecting custom colors in Microsoft Word
I am really sorry if this is not the right place to ask this, but I can't find a better forum, and the official Microsoft newsgroup is lousy, so I'm hoping someone here will be able to help.
I have a MacBook running OS X 10.4.10 and I use Office 2004 for Mac OS X.
When I click "More Colors...", to select a custom color for a font, for example, the button flashes, but no custom-color selector appears. I have no idea why. http://tinyurl.com/2ysn3l is a screencast I made to demonstrate what I mean. In it, I click "More Colors...", then select a few of Microsoft's preapproved colors to show that those do indeed work, and then click "More Colors..." a few more times.
To be clear, it's not limited to just the font-color pane. Shading for cells in tables is affected in the same way, as are all other color selections. I can only use Microsoft-approved colors! Help! Thanks so much!
Also, I should make clear the fact that I have not accidentally uninstalled the default OS X color picker thing. In, for example, an image-editing program, I can select a color quite normally using the OS X color selection thing, with the crayons and the sliders and all that jazz.
I am not sure if Office uses the OS X color selector, or its own. Either way, I don't have any color selector at all right now for Office, except the crippled couple of dozen colors Microsoft offers by default.

Custom Metadata for Microsoft Word
Since Microsoft Word has a limited property/metadata fields and there is no budget to purchase a document management system, I am thinking of storing custom metadata fields in a XML file or a database.
Can Ultra Search be configured to search the Word documents by full-text and metadata fields? If so, how?You should start by downloading the Acrobat SDK and building the sample plugins. This is C/C++, there is no support for .NET.
Next you will need to read the relevant section of ISO 32000-1:2008 (the PDF standard) or a book such as “Developing with PDF” (from O’Reilly). This is required to understand how the PDF file format and objects work.
Finally, you can then start looking at the SDK documentation around the Cos and PD layers to apply to what you need to do. -
I wrote a macro in a Word 2010 template with a custom property called HeaderFooter (a Yes/No value). When the property is changed to No, the header and footer are hidden, otherwise, the header and footer are displayed.
I added the template to a SharePoint 2010 Document library, with a content type DocInformation and a column name HeaderFooterOffOn that I want to map to the custom property HeaderFooter in the Word Document.
The macro isn't working in SharePoint, though, because when the user clicks on the HeaderFooterOffOn in the DIP of the Word Document, the Word Custom Property (HeaderFooter) isn't changing with it.
How do I get these two synced up, so that when the SharePoint column is changed, the Word Document's custom property simultaneously updates with it?Hi kevinkevinc,
There is no direct way to run macro in SharePoint
As a workaround, I suggest you use SharePoint Event Receiver to run some custom code when column changed.

No longer able to select customized color theme for a collection page?
Previously I have been able to select a custom colour theme for my collections in Public Site Manager by clicking on Collections > Configure Selected Collection > Theme
The ‘theme’ tab is no longer showing – see screenshot –
Does this mean we can longer apply a custom theme (custom colours etc.) to our collection pages?
It seems we can still create themes (see screenshot below) but we’re no longer able to apply them to collection pages. Is anyone else seeing this? What I don't understand is - if Apple have got rid of themes on collection pages - then I would expect a generic theme to be applied retrospectively to all existing collection pages. What I see however is my custom theme on all my existing pages i.e. no change - but when I create a new collection obviously I now don't have the option to apply the custom theme - so I get a generic white on dark grey theme on new collection pages. In summay my existing pages have my custom theme applied and a few new pages have the generic theme and there's way for me to make them all look consistent.

Copying from Oracle SQL Developer Worksheet doesn't retain formatting (font, color etc...)in Microsoft Word but copying from other programs such as
visual studio, chrome browser etc works fine. This doesn't work even after changed the setting to Keep Source formatting of Options-> Copy and Paste SettingsHi,
I notice that you have cross posted in Answers forum and Oracle forum. Have you tried Mr. Peter's suggestion?
Then, I recommend we check the Word settings:
1. Go to: Options > Advanced > Cut, Copy and Paste
2. Make sure that Use smart cut and paste is ticked.
3. Click the Settings button next to this option
4. Make sure that Smart Style
Behavior is checked.
If the issue still exists, please upload a sample through One Drive, I want to test.

Customized keyboard shortcuts for microsoft Word not working
Hi,
My Macbook Pro retina 15' with an updated Yosemite iOS 10.10.1 has an american keyboard. I am trying to create keyboard shortcuts for brazilian accent marks to use in Microsoft Word. I went to "system preferences", "keyboard", "shortcuts", "App Shortcuts", added Microsoft Word and, for the brazilian accent mark " ˜ ", which in the original keyboard is obtained with "option+n", I set the shortcut "option+left arrow".
It just does not work. I created other shortcuts for other brazilian accent marks with the other arrows + control but none of them worked.
Can anyone tell me what went wrong?
Thanks!Amy~ Yep the lasso tool was what I verified with another user. 'L' seems to be bound indefinitely to loop through different types of lasso tools and it was annoying them because they just wanted L to be the regular freehand lasso. I removed 'L' from being an option on the polygon lasso and even set it explicitly to SHIFT+L as well as set the lasso tool to a completely different keyboard combo. 'L' still cycled through lassos haha. It needs some fixes.
fertolg~ At least you have a workaround for now. I'd go nuts if I couldn't use keyboard text selection writing code, oy! You're welcome and if you're all set please mark correct so we can filter unanswered. Good luck! -
I got created a fonts collections in fonts catalog.app and i can see them in collections in the program microsoft word, unfortunately in InDesign CC is not posible, only got all the list of fonts available in the computer, the option to reduce the view of fonts is favorites or restrict by part of the name or type. I believe this feature most by included as default in InDesign CC. Manage fonts collection is a pretty good option to view big differents type of fonts selected together. even the smart collection are not visibles.
InDesign users use normally paragraph styles and character style, no need to sort out font collections. only when you set up the styles.
NEVER work without styles, don't us style overrides.
But you can type in any part of the font name and you get all fonts with this expression in the name, not necessary the first letters. -

Using custom colors when I do not have it selected
I have a web page in a restricted folder on the server hosting my website. It contains several links to private functions I use to maintain my message board.
I experimented with the custom colors option under Tools|Options|Content|Colors by un-checking the "Allow pages to select their own colors, instead of using my selection above". It worked but could not return this specific page to using it's on colors for V/U Links.
Problem. Even after re-checking "Allow pages to select their own colors...", it still used whatever colors I but in the boxes for the UVLinks and the VLinks.
It is as if this specific page ignores the turning of the custom radio button on/off and always uses the custom colors and not the colors from the code in the page itself.
All three (3) radio buttons are checked.
Use system colors,
Underline links and,
Allow pages to choose their own colors.
Other pages seem to be using their own colors except this one page which is not public due to being password protected using .htaccess/.htpasswd on the server.
It worked fine until it played with turning this feature on/off now I cannot get it back to using the pages own colors.

Can't get Lightroom Color Management to select custom profiles
I can't get Lightroom Color Management to select custom profiles.
- I select "other" in Profile,
- a pop-up box shows me numerous profiles to choose from
- I select a profile and the selection is highlighted
- I press "OK" and the pop-up box disappears
- but if I go back to the "Profile" selection line, only "Managed by Printer" is available.
What's wrong here?
Is the inability to select a profile the reason that prints from Lightroom look way to dark when I print them?
VickOh, I'm on Windows, XP with SP2.
The profiles are in C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\drivers\color
I used the .exe that was provided by Epson for installing the drivers.
Nothing fancy, nothing different.
For Lightroom, I installed it off CD, and got the 1.3.1 update off their Adobe site.
Any clues there, to solve the puzzle?

Color Adjustments - Selecting Custom Hue with Eyedropper
Dear all
I have difficulties adjusting colors in my images, I am trying to adjust a specific hue, by selecting a color with the eyedropper (Adjustments-Color). Instead of selecting the desired hue from the picture, it always selects red color, regardless of the color selected in the picture (it actually selects the correct color when pushing the mouse button down, but then selects red when releasing the mouse button). I tried that with different pictures (jpg and raw), allways the same problem. I am using Aperture 3.4.3
Anybody with an idea? Thanks!Do you have any other user accounts on your Retina MacBook? Does the issue still happen in a different user account?
If doesn't happen in the other account, the issue is likely with one of your preference files. There's instructions on how to do that in the middle of this article.
I doubt that the problem is with your library, but you could try switching to a different Aperture library just to rule that out by holding the "Option" key when you launch Aperture. -

How can I customize Microsoft Word Outline Numbered List Templates with AppleScript?
I wrote an applescript to set up a word document with the appropriate styles to give the document an academic setup, much like what Xelatex produces. This is a work in progress and I have a problem.
I have successfully applied the style changes to each Header and I have applied the desired outline numbered list template "list template 5 of list gallery 3", however I would like to add tab stops to each one in order to make each header look slick like in Latex.
To do what I want manually in Microsoft Word 2011 mac I would click Bullets and Numbering, customize, under text position i would check the tab stop box and put in some value (1 cm, for example)
The following is an approximation of the result of running this script on a document with headings 1-9 applied consequently to each line, respectively. Note how they are not even. I think this is an issue with the template, but I want to be able to run this script on any mac without extra template files.
1 Heading 1
1.1 Heading 2
1.1.1 Heading 3
1.1.1.1 Heading 4
1.1.1.1.1 Heading 5

1.1.1.1.1.1.1 Heading 7
1.1.1.1.1.1.1.1Heading 8
1.1.1.1.1.1.1.1.1 Heading 9
Here is the script so far:

Problem trying to wrap a Microsoft Word paragraph in XML tags?!? :/
Hello everyone. I really hope this is not a big problem and that some of your could help. I wrote a Macro in VBA like a year ago that was intented to put a tag before every single paragraph in a document. The logic validates that the paragraph have no other
tag before putting one. All of this is based in styles. Some font styles would end up with different tags. This is my code and it works:

NOW... the issue is that the tags wont work anymore in the new system, and I need to wrap the paragraph in XML Tags. I tried to do something like for styles:

InStr(1, oPara.Range.Text, "<main>") = 0 And _
InStr(1, oPara.Range.Text, "<capara>") = 0 Then
oPara.Range.InsertAfter "</main> "
oPara.Range.InsertBefore "<main> "
End If
End If
But it just would add the two tags before the paragraphs!!! Is there anyway to wrap the paragraph in XML tags, following my logic? Somebody help please!! Thank you!! :/Hi,
Sorry for my delay.
I am afraid that this is not the proper forum for this issue, and I found that you have posted it in dedicated forum.

I would suggest you focus on that thread to get more dedicated support.
