SELECTING FROM INTERNAL TABLES

hi i have an internal table say i_fpla which has two records. from this internal table i want to get the first row( or any one row) and put it into another internal table. can u plss tell me how to do it.

Hi there
Lets say you have 2 records in tbl_tab1 and you want to put the records into another internal table say tbl_tab2.For this:
1. Define work areas for both the internal tables . lets say they are wa_tab1 which is of the same type as tbl_tab1 and wa_tab2 which is of the same type as tbl_tab2.
DATA: wa_tab1 like line of tbl_tab1,
           wa_tab2 like line of tbl_tab2.
2. Now if you have a specific key in tbl_tab1 and you want to read a particular record with some condition then u can simply read table tbl_tab1 into the work area and then whichever fields you want to copy into wa_tab2 you can and simpyl append this to tbl_tab2.
READ TABLE tbl_tab1 into wa_tab1 with key field 1 = 'X'.
wa_tab2-field1 = wa_tab1-field1.
append wa_tab2 to tbl_tab2.
This will append a particular record to tbl_tab2.
X is some value for field1 which you want to read.
3.if you want to move both the records to tbl_tab2 then simply loop through this table.
loop at tbl_tab1 into wa_tab1.
wa_tab2-field1 = wa_tab1-field1.
append wa_tab2 to tbl_tab2.
endloop.
Both your records will get appended to tbl_tab2.
Hope this helps.
Cheers

    Can anyone suggest me the replacement of the statement:
    Select sum( col1 ) from table into var1 where col2 = 'abc' and col3 like '1.%' or col3 = 1.
    above statement works on database table but i need the same query on an internal table.
    please tell me.

  • Select from internal table

    Hi,
    i need to select data from some internal table.
    data : wa_vcera type /BIC/ASUSP00 .
    "VCERA" is not defined in the ABAP Dictionary as a table, projection view, or database view.
    What should I do?
    Thanks
       Radka

    Hi Radka,
    If you want to process itab records you can loop at itab or you can read the records.
    You declared work area not a internal table, it cant hold multiple records.
    Can you please bit clear?

  • How to do a SELECT from different tables into an internal table?

    How to do a SELECT from different tables into an internal table?
    I want to select data from MARA, MARC and ZPERSON and populate my ITAB_FINAL
    REPORT  zinternal_table.
    TABLES:
      mara,
      marc,
      zperson.
    TYPES:
    BEGIN OF str_table1,
      v_name LIKE zperson-zname,
      v_matnr LIKE marc-matnr,
      v_emarc LIKE marc-emarc,
      v_werks_d LIKE marc-werks_d,
      v_dstat LIKE marc-dstat,
      END OF str_table,
      i_table1 TYPE STANDARD TABLE OF str_table1.
    DATA:
    BEGIN OF str_table2,
    v_mandt LIKE mara-mandt,
    v_ernam LIKE mara-ernam,
      v_laeda LIKE mara-laeda,
    END OF str_table2,
    itab_final LIKE STANDARD TABLE OF str_table2.

    first find the link between mara , marc and zperson , if u have link to 3 tables then u can jus write a join and populate the table u want ( thats final table with all the fields).
    u defenitely have alink between mara and marc so join them and retrieve all data into one internal table.
    then for all the entries in that internal table retrieve data from zperson into another internal table.
    then loop at one internal table
    read another internal table where key equals in both the tables.
    finally assign fileds if sy-subrc = 0.
    gs_finaltable-matnr = gs_table-matnr
    etc...
    and finally append gs_finaltable to gt_finaltable.
    there u go ur final table has all the data u want.

  • Selecting from multiple tables, into one internal table

    Hi,
    What is the best & most efficient method of selecting from multiple table (in my case 6,) into one internal table?
    Thanks,
    John
    Points will be rewarded and all responses will be highly appreciated.

    I have simple example :
    First one - Join 5 tables
    data : f1 type i,
              f2 type i,
              f3 type i.
    start-of-selection.
    get run time field f1.
    write the query 4 or 5 tables join.
    get run time field f2.
    f3 = f2 - f1 ( Total time).
    Second one - joins 3 table and use for all entries
    data : f1 type i,
              f2 type i,
              f3 type i.
    start-of-selection.
    get run time field f1.
    write the query 3 tables join and use for all entries
    get run time field f2.
    f3 = f2 - f1. ( Total time )
    Finally you can have time diffrence between the both sql statement.

  • How to avoid ORA-3113 when selecting from XMLTYPE table

    Hi,
    If I register an XML-schema, Oracle automatically creates a table xxxxxx_tab of XMLTYPE. (I use Oracle 9.2.0.1)
    When I do a DESCRIBE or a SELECT from this table I get the error: 'ORA-03113:
    end-of-file on communication channel' and my connection is dropped.
    I opened a TAR for this and Oracle says: 'It is an internal bug so cannot be viewed in metalink. This is fixed in release 10i.' (do they mean oracle DB rel 10i, or a new version of XDK?)
    I saw an example in Oracle Magazine (Jan
    2003) "Make XML Native and Relative" about Oracle 9i Rel 2 and XML. As you can see in codeListing 7, the author also does a select from such a
    table (CD331_tab): Why doesn't he have any problems?
    Is there a workaround for this bug? What's the purpose of being able to automatically upload XML-data to a registered schema if you can't do a select of the data?
    Thank you!

    It appears that the XML Schema is not entirely valid. Specifically, the definition of element "DeviceCategory" has two definitions of element "Audio" appearing within a <choice> model i.e. something like :
    <element name="DeviceCategory">
    <choice>
    <sequence>
    <element name="Audio">
    </sequence>
    <sequence>
    <element name="Audio">
    </sequence>
    </choice>
    This is disallowed by XML Schema spec per. the Unique Particle Attribution Constraint. The general idea is that a XML Schema describes a determinstic content model i.e. schema processor can always unambiguosly determine the matching declaration when it encounters an element. However that's not the case with the declaration above. On encoutering "Audio", it could match either the first or the second declaration of the element. Hence the error.
    You will have to rework the schema to avoid this constraint. One mechanism could be to define complexType and their restrictions.

  • Writing from internal table to xml format

    Hi,
    I searched all the forum and I have a question on writing the data from internal table in xml format to the file on app.server.
    Data: ITAB1   TYPE TABLE OF SPFLI,
             L_XML  TYPE REF TO CL_XML_DOCUMENT.
      SELECT * FROM SPFLI INTO TABLE ITAB1.
    CREATE THE XML OBJECT
      CREATE OBJECT L_XML.
    CONVERT THE DATA TO XML
      CALL METHOD L_XML->CREATE_WITH_DATA( DATAOBJECT = ITAB1[] ).
    after this how to move the XML data in the object to a file on app.server.
    Thanks

    p_ufile is the path of the application server
    p_output is the internal table with data to be moved to app serv.
    OPEN DATASET p_ufile FOR OUTPUT IN TEXT MODE.
    LOOP AT p_output INTO wa_file.
    TRANSFER wa_file TO p_ufile.
    CLEAR wa_file.
    ENDLOOP.
    CLOSE DATASET p_ufile.
    for XML I guees the path p_ufile ill be <b>sap/usr/tmp/file.xml</b>

  • How to transfer from internal table to table control ?

    How to transfer data from internal table to table control wihtout using select statement?

    HI
    GOOD
    The commands in the flow logic are:
    LOOP AT itab [INTO wa] WITH CONTROL ctrl.
    ENDLOOP.
    This statement assigns an internal table itab of the ABAP program to the table control and triggers a parallel loop run over the table control rows displayed on the screen and over the internal table itab. The additions INTO and WITH CONTROL are possible at the time of PBO, but not at PAI. The assignment of the loop to the table control takes place at PAI through the internal table.
    Using the INTO addition, the fields of the internal table itab are written to the work area wa at the time of PBO and the content of wa is transported, line by line, to the identically-named fields of the table control on the screen. Without the INTO addition, you must use an internal table with a header line. Then the content of the header line is transported line by line to the identically-named fields of the table control on the screen at the time of PBO. No module is required for filling the table control rows.
    Conversely, at the time of PAI, the internal table rows are not automatically filled with the contents of the table control rows. Instead, you must call a dialog module within the loop that modifies the table.

  • Reading Data from Internal Table

    Hi,
    Can anyone please tell me how to read data from Internal Tables in the Event Handler without using the Select statement OnInitialization?
    Thanks,
    Gaurav

    Hi Siddhartha,
    Can you tell me the problem in my code. I tried to work on the way you suggested. Though I have not finished with the coding, I just wanted to know whether I am going in the direction or not.
    I have declared the the structure in Type Defination as
    TYPES: BEGIN OF TEST_STRUC,
             BEGDA TYPE BEGDA,
             ENDDA TYPE ENDDA,
           END OF TEST_STRUC.
    TYPES: TEST_TAB_TYPE TYPE TABLE OF TEST_STRUC.
    In the Event Handler, I have added the following code on OnInputProcessing:
    event handler for checking and processing user input and
    for defining navigation
    DATA TEST_INFO LIKE LINE OF TEST_TAB.
    DATA: MYTAB6 TYPE TABLE OF PA0006,
          MYTAB6_WA LIKE LINE OF MYTAB6.
    REFRESH TEST_TAB.
    CLEAR TEST_INFO.
    MYTAB6_WA-BEGDA = REQUEST->GET_FORM_FIELD( STARTDATE ).
    MYTAB6_WA-ENDDA = REQUEST->GET_FORM_FIELD( ENDDATE ).
    IF EVENT->NAME EQ 'button'
       AND EVENT->SERVER_EVENT EQ 'click'.
      LOOP AT MYTAB6 INTO MYTAB6_WA.
        TEST_INFO-BEGDA = MYTAB6_WA-BEGDA.
        TEST_INFO-ENDDA = MYTAB6_WA-ENDDA.
      ENDLOOP.
      APPEND TEST_INFO TO TEST_TAB.
      CLEAR TEST_INFO.
      NAVIGATION->SET_PARAMETER( NAME = 'test_tab'
      VALUE = 'begda' ).
      NAVIGATION->SET_PARAMETER( NAME = 'test_tab'
      VALUE = 'endda' ).
      NAVIGATION->GOTO_PAGE( 'MyBSP2.htm').

    P.S. MyBSP2.htm is my next page.

  • Delete from internal table

    Hi,
    I want to delete from internal table some regords.
    I write code:
    delete  isrot where bldat < '01.09.2005'.
    it doesn't work, what is wrong?
    regards,
    Joanna

    hi,
    you write the statement like....
    <b>delete FROM isrot where bldat < '01.09.2005'.</b>
    now it will work...
    To select the lines that you want to delete using a condition, use the following:
    <b>DELETE FROM <target> WHERE <cond> .</b>
    All of the lines in the database table that satisfy the conditions in the WHERE clause are deleted. The FROM expression must occur between the keyword and the database table.
    You should take particular care when programming the WHERE clause to ensure that you do not delete the wrong lines. For example, if you specify an empty internal table in a dynamic WHERE clause, all of the lines in the table are deleted.
    If at least one line is deleted, the system sets SY-SUBRC to 0, otherwise to 4. SY-DBCNT contains the number of lines deleted.
    follow this link for more information on internal table operation.

    [Inserting Several Lines|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp2005vp/helpdata/en/fc/eb3a6d358411d1829f0000e829fbfe/content.htm]
    To insert several lines into a database table, use the following:
    INSERT target FROM TABLE itab \[ACCEPTING DUPLICATE KEYS].
    This writes all lines of the internal table itabto the database table in one single operation. If one or more lines cannot be inserted because the database already contains a line with the same primary key, a runtime error occurs. You can prevent the runtime error occurring by using the addition ACCEPTING DUPLICATE KEYS.
    Whenever you want to insert more than one line into a database table, it is more efficient to work with an internal table than to insert the lines one by one.
    I think the syntax
    INSERT my_dbtable FROM TABLE gi_data.
    should work, your suggestion may lead to syntax error.
