Just you need to change in forms.
Change the Data type Date to Datetime
to show only time, use format mask.

  • Query execution taking longer time in Oracle form 10g !!

    Hi,
    I'm generating a report through Oracle form ( forms 10g) and its taking 3-4 hours to finish. But when I run the same report query in (Oracle 11g) database, it gets executed in less than 40 mins.
    The form takes only from and to date as input.
    I tried hardcoring the date in the Oracle Form and then the report takes only 40 mins to generate.
    I tried various approaches like changing the datatypes of form variable and correspondingly changing the query, but met with no success.
    When the report in run through the form , we can see the query getting run in backend for nearly 3 hrs !!! tats really confusing !!
    Please let me know, if anybody got any idea on this problem??

    Hi,
    Even I am facing the same problem above. I am trying to fetch results from a cursor which has subquery running over the db link and placing the results set in a csv file using client_io package. When I run the cursor directly from database (11G), it takes not more than 3-4 min to get the results back. But when I run the same cursor via oracle forms 10G, the query in local database keep on waiting for hours to get results from remote database with "SQL*Net message from dblink". Session on local database remains in active status with state as "Waiting" while the session on remote database goes inactive with state as waiting for event "SQL*Net message from client"
    This is confusing me since the same query when ran directly from backend fetches results soon.
    Please let me know if anyone can help here
    Thanks

  • Loading image from jars only once in oracle forms 10g

    Hi,
    I have an oracle forms 10g application which loads image from a jar. Every time i click on a button "A" that loads the image "image" on another button "B" in the same screen, a message is displayed in the java console "Loaded image: jar:https://+IP+/forms/java/+myjar+.jar!/image.gif". So after 10 clicks, i get the same message displayed 10 times. In the form, i've called:
    SET_CUSTOM_PROPERTY(p_object_name, 1, 'IMAGE_NAME_ON', '/'||p_image_name);My question is the following:
    - is there a way to load this image once and use it later without having to load it every time i clik on "A"? if yes, how?
    P.S.: if this thread shouldn't be posted in this forum, please redirect me to the right one.

    Ah okay.
    I'm using the rolloverbutton.jar (RollOver Button PJC) [RolloverButton.java -> authors: Steve Button, Duncan Mills].

  • How to get updated value at run time in oracle forms

    How to get updated value form oracle database on a field in oracle forms 6.0 at run time if the same form is opened by multiple users and both have get the same maximum value if one commit the record then how other would get that maximum value with out exiting that form...

    This issue is fairly common and Forms handles the situation by displaying the error, "Record has been updated by another user. Requery to see changes." if a user tries to update a record that was updated by another user.
    If your data is in a base table block, you can check before you save by checking the value in the form against the database using the Get_Item_Property('<BLOCK.ITEM>',DATABASE_VALUE). You can compare the value returned by the built-in against the value in the field to see if they have changed. This could be a lot of work and a lot of network traffic if you are checking numerous items in your data block. Forms has a standard locking mechanism that will lock the queried record as soon as a user makes any changes. If another user queries and attempts to change the record locked by another user - they will receive a "Record Locked" message.
    Francois brings up a valid point. Perhaps you should review the link Francios provided as well as this one: How to ask questions the smart way
    It is always a good idea to review your thread before you post it and ask yourself, "Could I answer this question given the information I've provided and the way I've asked the question?"

  • How to auto-generate a "empno" field at run time in oracle forms 6i

    Hello!
    I have connected to a SCOTT schema. And i am using emp table. At run time mode when i press F8 then the data is displayed in the fields.
    My task is to generate auto "empno" as soon as i run the form. Kindly do the needful.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Francios,
    I think with your solution our user only able to see the current information in the form.I donot think it will auto generate the empno.
    Dear user,
    I suggest what you can do is to create one sequence in your database and use it to generate automatic
    empno.
    In post query trigger try to implement the idea.
    Suppose in the name of the sequence is empno_seq.
    if emp.empno is null then
    :emp.empno := empno_seq+1;
    end if;
    Try i hope it will work

  • Create lov at run time in  oracle form 10g

    i want to create a lov and record group dynamically at run time..
    i have the code in when-form-instance..
    Declare
    v_lov lov;
    rg_id recordgroup;
    gc_id groupcolumn;
    tem_num number;
    v_rg_id number;
    begin
    rg_id := find_group('My group');
    if id_null(rg_id) then
    rg_id := Create_group('My_group');
    gc_id := add_group_column(rg_id,'emp_id',number_column);
    gc_id := add_group_column(rg_id,'ename',char_column,15);
    end if;
    v_rg_id := POPULATE_GROUP_WITH_QUERY('My_group','select t.employee_id,t.first_name from employee_mt t where t.employee_id in (103,104,106)');
    --tem_num :=populate_group(rg_id);
    v_lov := find_lov ('LOV_NAME');
    set_lov_property(v_lov,group_name,'My_group');
    set_item_property('VEH_SEARCH.TXT_VEH_CODE',lov_name,'lov');
    End;
    now i have problem...whether i create first a lov and record group at design time or not????
    if i create a lov and have the recordgroup column then what is the benefit of dynamically lov...???
    thanks

    Hi.
    It is possible with some restrictions. Let's say you agree there are max 5 columns in your LOV-s. That way you can easily create LOV to RG colums mapping (what Andreas pointed out).
    For example :
    1. in design time create RG with dummy columns (for example : c1, c2, c3, c4, c5)
    2. in design time create 1 LOV with 5 predefind columns (for example : c1, c2, c3, c4, c5)
    3. populate that record group with select (selecting 5 columns. If you do not have 5 columns in your table on which LOV is based just select dummy columns for the rest of the columns) aliasing them as c1, c2, c3, c4, c5 (same as in LOV from step 2)
    4. asign that RG to the LOV in step 1
    5. in LOV show just "non-dummy" rows form step 3
    The rest you already figured it out.
    The benefit of this approach is questionable as the same can be done creating more RG and LOV-s in design time. So I believe this is the matter of developer preferences. By the way the concept I described we use on daily bases dealing with LOV-s.
    Best regards.

  • How to generate database text items at run time in oracle forms 6i?

    i have a text item with NUMBER OF ITEMS DISPLAYED=3. My requirement is, i need to generate text items at run time under each TEXT ITEM(3 text items will be there since number of items displayed is 3) and the values will be stored in the database based on the primary key combination. pls help me to solve this pblm

    Hi,
    You cannot generate items dynamically at runtime. The only thing you can do is show and hide item on time. Thay seems that they are generated at run time. Second thing you can do is that you can put items on stack canvas and set visible property of stack canvas to no and at run time set it to visible according to ur condition. Otherwise there is no way. If you find any other way, plz do inform here also.

    weblogic server installation is perfect no errors at all.
    i also got the errors i got during installation ( im_emagent.mk and while running command gcc) . but thanks to OTN Forums i had managed to find out a fix. but on this error only solution i got is
    TRY WINDOWS . but what about linux then? is there any solution on this error?
    i am not much used to front-end ( java i mean). i am Oracle DBA Actually n want to install n try Weblogic
    Kindly Help...

    You can just copy the relevant parts (the ones marked with error). You can also look at the timing
    when it happened the reports environment did not start.
    From what i remember this could be a memory issue, standard every managed server (WLS_FORMS and WLS_REPORTS) instance
    is configured with 1024m bytes of memory.
    What we did is first install a forms instance and after that a reports instance. After the forms installation we adjusted the
    memory parameters in setWLSEnv (<middleware-home>/user_projects/domains/<domain-name>/bin). Look in this file
    for references to WLS_FORMS (something similar to: if [ "${SERVER_NAME}" = "WLS_FORMS" ] ; then).
    Another thing which springs to my mind is, which products did you select. If you just want Forms and Reports
    you can select just the following:
    - Oracle Forms
    - Oracle Reports
    - Developer Tools aan.
    - Management Components
    - Oracle HTTP Server
    and deselect the other options:
    - Oracle Portal
    - Oracle Discoverer
    - Oracle WebCache
    - Clustered (if you are not using clustering)
    We also had to fix the following files (i do not think that you have to do this since your Forms did not show any problems):
    - (On Windows) Copy the file msvcr71.dll (FMW/windows/extra) to WINDOWS/system32.
    - Copy the file mod_wl_ohs.so (FMW/<operating-system>/extra) to <middleware-home>/as_1/ohs/modules.

    This is for testing so this is all local, no application server in use
    I have setup a very simple form using only one canvas with two fields.
    Login to Forms Dev->Start OC4J->Connect to DB->Compile->Run Form
    When opening in;
    Explorer 7 -
    "Do you want to open or save file" therefore I adjusted the security settings, it will automatically open the file but it will only display the Oracle Forms header in the page, this is all. If I open the file in notepad I see the form I have run being called but it will not display
    Foxfire 2.0.0.6 -
    A webpage will open, then see the Forms Builder splash page, the webpage will then load for 10 seconds then disappear, never displaying the form.
    I have reinstalled the application and looked at the known issues for Forms Developer, did see one about the spaces between the names in the directory structure, I have changed that and that did rid of some errors, but the about is currently where I am at.
    I have installed many DB's and created forms on that info, I do not see what I am missing.
    Anyone have an idea
    Thanks

    thank you for the reply,
    the form will not even load, to be more clear (sorry) I will speak of Internet Explorer since other threads in this forum state issues w/ Firefox and Java
    Run the Form->'Oracle Forms.' will display in the browser (not the actual form though)-> you hear the sound indicating something has been blocked->allow-> Error - Internet Explorere has encountered a problem and needs to close.
    When selecting more

    This is the HTML that is in the file being loaded;

    There is a further detailed report attached to that but the size of it is much like a trace file in Oracle DB =), I don't know if you can assist with the info provided.

  • Installing Oracle Forms on Linux

    Dear all,
    I'm trying to install Oracle Forms but stumbling upon its perquisites. My machine is Linux Slackware 13.0 64 and I've been trying to install Developer Suite but it failed since my Linux version is not supported.
    My question is:
    1. Can I modify (or cheat on) Universal Installer setup so that it let me install on Slackware?
    2. I also looked at Fusion Middleware requirements and it also supports only Linux Oracle, Suse, or Redhat. Is there any workaround to install the software without changing my OS?
    Best regards,
    Val

    - Copy the file mod_wl_ohs.so (FMW/<operating-system>/extra) to <middleware-home>/as_1/ohs/modules.

    http://red-erie:8889/forms/frmservlet
    Hope you can help me.
    Regards n Thanks
    eRie

    It worked for me in Windows 7 Home premium, both in 32 and 64 bit operating systems...
    What I did was,
    After successful instalaltion of developer suite, I've installed latest JRE from www.java.com and configured formsweb.cfg and default.env file.
    I've used IE8 only. I haven't tested on any other browsers.
    Do modify these lines to configure formsweb.cfg to change to JRE from Jinitiator (As said by CraigB )

  • Field selection problem in Oracle Forms

    I am using an application created in Oracle 6i Forms (patch 11).
    Mouse navigation in the forms do not work properly.
    Since a field is selected and some string is typed then first character is always ignored hence it is necessary to press a key like before typing required string.
    I'm using Java VM 1.4.1 on client-side,
    The same application works well when I'm using Oracle JInitiator.
    does anybody know how to work around the problem ?
    thanks

    Hi, again and thanks for the patience. I am using the oracle plugin all the time and it works. But I need to use the application on different computer where the oracle JInitiator could not be installed. There I am trying to use the Sun Java Plugin Version 1.4.2_06 (build 1.4.2_06-b03) which shall be compatible. Since last time I asked again the provider and I found that the application is pure Oracle Forms 9i application which doesn't need Java when it is run on the computer where the application is instaled. The Java plugin is then used to show the forms and to provide the comunication between clients and application server. Probably it is clear to you however I am not a developer but poor user only. I have also tried to play with the application to find how it works (or doesn't works). It seems that the problem is exactly with mouse navigation. When tab or enter is used then it works fine. But when a form field is selected by mouse then a character is typed and i can see it. But when I continue with the writing the first character is overwrite. Sometimes when there is a list of records row by row and I try to get to next row using the mouse the application tells me that some bloody key is not valid but using the key down I can easily go ti next row. To tell the truth I don't like mouses at all so it is no problem to me but other users do not know how Tab works :-)
