Selection screen - Background submit using JOB_SUBMIT

Hello friends,
I am using 2 reports , say report 1(R1) and report 2(R2).
I am getting a particular value in selection screen from R2 and based on that value I am submitting the report R1 in background using JOB_OPEN,JOB_SUBMITand JOB_CLOSE. Now i want the values from selection screen of R2 which is similar to selection screen of R1 to be populated and the execution to take place .If i use SUBMIT / SUBMIT VIA selection screen Background processing is not possible.thats why I used JOB_OPEN,JOB_SUBMITand JOB_CLOSE.Hope there is no ambigutity in my question.

What you can do is use job_open , job_submit and before job_close use submit via selection screen and return .

Hi Charan,
You have to give the selection screen values when you submit a job.
Press F1 on submit and you will see more details.
Here is an example from ABAP Documentation.

Selection screen validation when using PNP LDB

Hi guys,
I want to validate my selection screen parameters.Thats is if somebody wants to run the program without giving any input parameters to the selection screen(trying to run the report with a blank screen) I want to pop up an error/information message so that it will return the selection screen.I am using PNP Logical database for my selection screen.Please help.Thanks in advance.

Welcome to SDN.
If you are using PNP logical data base then validating the fields will be little tricky...
You canc check all the other fields in START-OF-SELECTION and if they are empty return eroor. Remember all the field s on the scree... so I will suggest you to choose HR report Category accordingly.
Also,when it comes to date field then you need to check for the start and end dates rather than blank fields as SAP defaulted them to system start and end date.
Still, I will prefer to create a HE Report Category for the PNP database and use the screen while validating....that will be easy...

Select list with submit using on a dynamic report

Hi! I'd like to know how can I create a Select list with Submit using the HTMLDB_ITEM API.
I know there's an API named HTMLDB_ITEM.SELECT_LIST_FROM_LOV(), but I'd like to know how can I reproduce in there the submit everytime the user changes a value.

Hi! I've discovered there's a parameter on this function that allows me to include a javascript like the example below:
select HTMLDB_ITEM.SELECT_LIST_FROM_LOV(3, ctr_id,'LOV_COUNTRIES','onChange=javascript:doSubmit()','NO)
from XXXX;
The thing is I don't know how exactly this javascript:doSubmit() works, because it works different than creating a select list with submit item.
If I create on a page a simple "select list with submit" item, and if I run the page, after changing the value of the select list it refreshes the page but it doesn't erase the values inserted on the other items. But if I have this HTMLDB_ITEM.SELECT_LIST_FROM_LOV function, after changing the value of the select list it refreshes the page but it erase the values inserted on the other items and recovers the old values..
I really need your help on this.

I have gone throught the link to submit the program in BSP using varients, but i even want to see the selection screen for tht so tht user can post his own values over there.
I tryed SUBMIT with different options but i am not able to see the selection screen for it,pls help me its urgent.

the submit i have made it the way u told me..before itself..so thts fine..
but value which i get in first.htm of these dates is not getting transfered to the next.htm
thought i am able to get the value through the navigation->set_parameter...
really i feel this issue is bit getting longer....

Scheduling a background job using Job_Submit and Job_Close FM

Hi Guys,
              I am calling a report in background using Job_Submit and Job_Close FM's.
I am not providing start time and date in the Job_close FM, in this case, when the job will be scheduled to start.
Even after an hour, job status is still scheduled.
I am not exporting variant, since I am using memory ID.

Can i get multiple records if selection screen is 900 using PROVIDE

Iam using following statement for fetching MULTIPLE records from infotype 0008. In Attributes if i declare LDB as pnp and selection screen as 900, then iam not getting any records.
Instead of th selection screen 900 is empty. then records will getting properly.
How can i get multiple records if selection screen is 900?
PROVIDE * FROM p0008
between pn-begda and pn-endda.

Selection screen parameter validation using search help/check table

Hi experts,
I have a select-option that is tied to a search help and check table (type tq80-qmart). Is there a way to automatically validate the field based on what comes up in the F4 search help? What I mean is, when the user hits F4 on the parameter, the list pops up with several records that the user can choose. When the program is executed, I want the program to show an error if the value is NOT in that F4 list.
I know this can be done in AT SELECTION SCREEN event with a select, but I was wondering if there was a way ABAP does it automatically. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hello Juan,
SAP does have a standard way of allowing the the user to select from the list via LISTBOX.
But list box is restricted to parameters only, you cannot attach list boxes to select-options.
I think the best place to do this validation would be th AT SELECTION-SCREEN event & from your original post it seems you know what code to write

Want to trigger at selection screen on 'X' using mouse click event.

I've designed a report which has two radiobuttons i would to like change the selection screen depends on the selection of the button as of now i'm selecting the button and hitting enter so that at selection screen on radiobutton group triggers.but for more user friendly I would like trigger as soon as i click on the button. Is it possible to do this?

How to create a report with selection screen that can run in background

Sorry to ask these basic questions but I am knew to ABAP Programming.
To keep it simply, I am attempting to create a report that has a simple parameter driven selections screen with one field. That field takes in a folder path from the user. The user executes the report. The report creates a simply BDC that goes into SE16, gathers data from a table, and exports the results to a text file using the folder path provided. I created a variant for the folder path field in the selection screen hoping to use it while executing the report in the background. The report is not exporting the file as it did when run in the foreground for some reason.
I am wondering what event is triggered when a report is executed in the background. In the foreground (or when I execute the program via SE38->Execute->With Variant) the user needs to execute the program by hitting the execute button once the variant has populated the folder path field. It works then, so I am trying to get the same to work in the background. I am thinking I didn't put the program together correctly to accommodate the running in the background. How can you create a report that can accept user input via variant into a selection screen and then run in the background?

Ok, finally I understand what you're doing. Initially you lost me with the SE16 reference...
Not sure what you're trying to achieve overall, but apart from the fact that you cannot export/download a file to a user's PC via background job (unless you have a mapped network share on the server or something like an FTP server on the user's PC, but both are pretty hypothetical scenarios and unlikely to occur).
Also, the BDC approach to get data via SE16 is pretty awkward. Note that SE16 is guarded by some authorization checks and often users won't have access in production (which might not matter if you intend to always run your program in background via dedicated batch user). However, I have no clue why you wouldn't want to use [open SQL|http://help.sap.com/abapdocu_70/en/ABENOPEN_SQL_READING.htm] to read the data. You could then save it on the application server or if you really have to get it to the user you can consider e-mailing the file (extracts should be compressed before sending). For the latter you'll find plenty of references here, basically it's the [business communication services|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/2d/1c5d3aebba4c38e10000000a114084/frameset.htm] that you'd need to look at.

Background Processing, Selection Screens and Variants

I am having a little trouble Background Processing with Selection Screens and Variants.
When a user runs my report and selects the option of background processing, then they select a checkbox. Once this is checked, they should go and fill in details, press Execute and voila a background process is created. However what is happening is that when i execute it then it asks for a variant. I do not want this to happen. I want the values in the selection screens to be used as default. Here is my code for background processing

Problem in Submit via selection screen statement

Dear Experts,
I have designed selection screen and a dialog screen 100. I am passing the selection screen values to dialog screen using Selection screen via selection screen statement. When i tried to change the values in dialog screen, it is not allowing me to do so and the values are not refreshed.
I have searched the SDN Forum, but not able to find the suitable thread.

I have used the below statement to pass values the values from selection screen to dialog screen (Created as an Executable program)

Dialog screen is created as an executable program where i have created two subscreen area and populating the Selection Screen as subscreen by using the below statement:
selection-screen begin of screen <subscreen no.> as subscreen.
selection-screen end of screen <subscreen no.>.
The problem i am facing is that the values of selection screen are getting populated in the dialog screen. But when i tried to change the input values in the dialog selection screen. I am unable to do that and it is not showing the new entered values. Only the previous values are shown (got from selection screen from Submit via selection screen statement).
Kindly let me know where i am going wrong ? Kindly help me to overcome the problem .

rep2 has selection-screen.(it also has ldb associated).
i am apssing all the data for selection-screen(of rep2) using an itab.
but now i dont want selection-screen of rep2 to be displayed when rep1 is executed.
