  • Difference between standard selection screen and selection screen

    hi guyz,
im asking this because in the table D010SINF there are two fields  sdate and idate which has different dates in it for some programs and same dates for some..bit confused:(
    thanks

    hi BrightSide
    standard Selection means
suppose if you are using parameters means system defaultly generate one screen under the Screen Number 1000
Selection Screen means you are creating a screen using
stament SElection-Screen begin of screen 100..
this is the difference whatever the screen other than '1000' is selection Screen, where as 1000 is Standard Selection Screen

  • Difference between screen and selection screen

    explain the difference between
    call screen
    and
    call selection-screen
with easy understandable explanation with simple example
    thanks guyz

    Hi,
<b>CALL SCREEN</b> interrupts the processing of the current screen to call a new screen or a chain of screens, processing of the current screen is resumed directly after the call.
    Call selection-screen
Similar to <b>CALL SCREEN</b>, except the screen you are calling must be a selection screen defined using<b> SELECTION-SCREEN BEGIN/END OF SCREEN</b> or the standard selection screen of a report.
It calls the selection screen with in the program.
If you call a selection screen using <b>CALL SCREEN</b> instead of <b>CALL SELECTION-SCREEN</b>, the initialization necessary for selection screens is not carried out, and the screen will not run properly when displayed.
    EG:<b>
SELECTION-SCREEN BEGIN OF SCREEN 123 AS WINDOW TITLE TEXT-456.
SELECTION-SCREEN BEGIN OF BLOCK BL1 WITH FRAME TITLE TEXT-BL1
                                          NO INTERVALS.
        SELECT-OPTIONS SEL1 FOR SY-SUBRC.
        PARAMETERS     PAR1 LIKE SPFLI-CARRID.
        SELECTION-SCREEN COMMENT /10(20) TEXT-COM.
      SELECTION-SCREEN END OF BLOCK BL1.
    SELECTION-SCREEN END OF SCREEN 123.
    CALL SELECTION-SCREEN 123 STARTING AT 20 5.
    IF SY-SUBRC = 0.
    ELSE.
    ENDIF.</b>
    rewards if useful,

  • Difference b/w At-selection-screen and onfield

    Hi,
What is the difference between at-selection-screen and at-selction-onfield?

    Different Types of Selection Screens
    What is:
    1. at selection-screen on field
    2. at selection-screen output
    3. at selection-screen block
    4. at selection-screen on value-request
    5. at selection-screen on help-request and their difference?
    For knowing Selection-screens:
First you must have right understanding of Events.
    - Events are introduced by Event Keyword.  They end when again next processs begins.
Selection-screens are special screen defined in ABAP.
    - This ABAP at run time only controls the flow logic of Selection-screens.  The PBO and PAI triggers the num of. selection-screens.
The basic form of the selection screen events is the AT SELECTION-SCREEN event. This event occurs after the runtime environment has passed all input data from the selection screen to the ABAP program. The other selection screen events allow programmers to modify the selection screen before it is sent and specifically check user input.
At Selection-screen OUTPUT is trigerred in PBO of selection-screen.
    - This allows you to modify the Selection-screen, before it is displayed.
At Selection-screen On Field is triggered in PAI of selection-screens.
    - The input fields can b checked,in the corresponding event block. If an error message occurs within this event block, the corresponding field is made ready for input again on the selection screen.
At Selection-screen On Block is trigerred in PAI event.
    - You define a block  by enclosing the declarations of the elements in the block between the statements SELECTION-SCREEN BEGIN OF BLOCK block - END OF BLOCK block. You can use this event block to check the consistency of the input fields in the block.
    At Selection-screen On value request.
    - This event is trigerred for F4 help.
At Selection-screen On help request .
    - This event is triggered when the user clicks F1 for help on fileds.

  • Difference between At selection-screen  and At selection-screen field

I need to know the difference between
Difference between At selection-screen  and At selection-screen field
    Regards
    Shashi

    Hi,
AT SELECTION-SCREEN is the event triggered in the PAI of the selection screen.
AT SELECTION-SCREEN on field field_name is the event specific to the field and is triggered when u press enter in that field.
    AT SELECTION-SCREEN selscreen_event.
    Effect
This statement defines event blocks for different events selscreen_event that are triggered by the ABAP runtime environment during selection screen processing.
Selection screen events occur immediately before sending a selection screen and after certain user actions on a displayed selection screen. They assist in selection screen processing in the ABAP program.
AT SELECTION-SCREEN is triggered at least twice during actions on selection screens that are linked into another selection screen as a subscreen - first for the linked selection screen itself, and then for the linking selection screens.
    SELECTION-SCREEN FIELD SELECTION
    FOR {NODE|TABLE} node [ID id].
    Effect
This statement defines a node node in the structure of the logical database for field selection. If a node belongs to type T, you can use the TABLE addition instead of NODE. The statement cannot be used for type C nodes. .
If a node is defined for field selection, you can use an executable program linked to the logical database in the GET statement to control which fields in the node are to be read by the logical database. If you use the function module LDB_PROCESS, the FIELD_SELECTION parameter must be specified accordingly.

  • What is difference between u0091AT SELECTION SCREENu0092 & u0091AT SELECTION-SCREEN OUT

What is difference between ‘AT SELECTION SCREEN’ & ‘AT SELECTION-SCREEN OUTPT’ events?

AT SELECTION SCREEN is the event after user input at selection screen,
while AT SELECTION SCREEN OUTPUT is the event before program display output to screen.
They are similar to PROCESS AFTER INPUT and PROCESS BEFORE OUTPUT   in dialog program.
*** is usually used for entry validation , while ASSO is usually used for display formatting

  • Initialization & at selection-screen output difference

i think what we are handling in INITIALIZATION also we can handle same in  AT SELECTION SCREEN OUTPUT also. can any one give example where we can handle things only in INITIALIZATION instead of AT SELECTION-SCREEN OUTPUT.

    hi
    good
    INITIALIZAION->
This event occurs before the standard selection screen is called. During this event block, the input fields of the standard selection screen can only be initialized once after the program has been started.
    INITIALIZATION.
      airp_fr-sign = 'I'.
      airp_fr-option = 'EQ'.
      airp_fr-low = 'JFK'.
      APPEND airp_fr.
      airp_to-sign = 'I'.
      airp_to-option = 'EQ'.
      airp_to-low = 'FRA'.
      APPEND airp_to.
      carrid-sign   = 'I'.
      carrid-option = 'BT'.
      carrid-low    = 'AA'.
      carrid-high   = 'LH'.
      APPEND carrid.
      datum+6(2) = '01'.
    AT SELECTION-SCREEN OUTPUT->
In the PBO of the selection screen, the
    AT SELECTION-SCREEN OUTPUT
event is triggered. This event block allows you to modify the selection screen and its fields directly before it is displayed.
    AT SELECTION-SCREEN OUTPUT.
      LOOP AT SCREEN.
        IF screen-group1 = 'SC1'.
          screen-intensified = '1'.
          MODIFY SCREEN.
          CONTINUE.
        ENDIF.
        IF screen-group1 = 'SC2'.
          screen-intensified = '0'.
          MODIFY SCREEN.
        ENDIF.
      ENDLOOP.
if you go through this you ll find both are completely difference and they do different job at different point.

  • New development - selection screen

    Hi gurus,
we are introducing a new functionality via devolopment transaction Z, and we need to enter a selection screen prior to the results, just to enter a kind of filter for fields such us:
    1. Purchasing document creation date.
    2. Document type.
    3. Purchasing group.
    4. Vendor.
    5. Cost Center.
The programmers are asking us whether we want those fields to be a parameter or a range.
Can anyone clear the difference between those two terms for us?
Any help regarding this issue would be very appreciated.
    Thanks,
    VML

In selection screen Parameter is Just one value For ex Cost centre A .If it is range means From Cost centre A to Cost Centre E. (A,B...E).
If you maintain for all these filed Range then it may give dump while report execution. So you have to controle which fileds should have range and Just one parametre.

  • Selection screen of logical database PCH

    Hi all,
I am writing a report using the logical database PCH. For this report I need the full selection screen of the logical database, especially the structure parameters. However, wenn I test my program, I only get a reduced selection screen without the structure parameters and the "further conditions". According to the documentation I found, this behaviour appears when you set the selection screen version to '900' in the program attributes. In my program, the selection screen version is empty, and I still get the reduced screen. The missing selection fields are even totally unknown to the ABAP compiler. E.g. when I try to assign the field PCHWEGID in my report, I get a "field unknown" error message from the compiler.
I have compared my report in various aspects to the standard report RHSTRU00 which shows the behaviour I want, I did not find any difference, and yet I get a different behaviour.
Any ideas how to fix this?
    Thank you
    Alexandre

  • Sorting Currency conversion Variables in Query Selection screen

    Hi Experts,
I have an issue in sorting variables.
A Currency translation is used here which has two selection options here, one for "Currency" and one for "Currency conversion date". They just pop in somewhere in the selection screen with out order. I want to put them together either in the middle or at the bottom.
They are not visible in the Variable sequence tab of query properties.
I changed the text for each of them (Ex. "XCurrency"), so that it sorts alphabetically, but no difference.
Had anybody come accross this issue before.
    regards
    G Rai

    Hi,
This seems strange that the variable does not show in the query properties. One thing I can suggest it to try changing the technical name/desciption of the variable if that changes the order.
Please update back the thread if that helps.

  • Define selection screen for ldb_process

Hi I'm using the call function ldb_process for KDF(lfa1, lfb1, bsik), the trouble is that the information its different than if i do it on a normal report defining the logical database kdf and selection screen 903.
I find that the difference is because the selection screen, this is because the default selection screen for the kdf database is 1000, and this selection has the "Open items at key date" selection with the current date.
    The question is:
How can i define the selection screen 903 using the call function ldb_proces?
    Thanks
    Pablo Santos

    Hi,
You cannot define screen version 903 using function LDB_PROCESS. Instead use table "SELECTIONS" of the function module .
    Cheers.

  • Do not want key date in the selection screen in query

    Hi,
I have made a query for Customer Ageing. I do not want a selection screen- however, i still get a prompt for the 'Key Date'.
Can someone suggest me a workaround?
    Many Thanks,
    Deepinder

    Hi Deepinder,
Though Key date is not there in the filter area, it is being used in any restrcited key figures in your report. Check all the RKFs used in your report. Also the ones indirectly involved in calculations. May be you are calculating diff between key date and posting date and then used this difference for further calculations.
Either you remove those RKFs if not needed, or in the property of your formula variable uncheck ready for input.
    Best Wishes,
    Mayank

  • Long Text box in Selection Screen

    Hi,
How to create a long text box in the selection screen.
Is there any example/demo program in standard??
    Regards
    Jiku.

erm, what do you want to achieve with this?
should your users be able to search for long texts?
That will probably fail since there are differences between the input and the long text you are searching for.
Or do you have users making no faults?

    Hi,
After executed the query, we are trying to get help (F4) values for info object Employee Group (EMPLGROUP) in the selection screen but it is taking long time nearly 1 hr and getting timed out. And for other Chars we are getting the help popup menu.
    for your info...
There are only 6 values are there in Employee Group master data table.
And the characteristic settings in Business Explorer tab are as the following,
    Display u2013 Text
    Text type u2013 Default
    BEx description u2013 Short description
    Selection u2013 No selection Restriction
Query Def. Filter Value Selection u2013 Only values in Infoprovider
Query Execution Filter Val. Selection u2013 Only Posted Values for Navigation
Can any one please suggest us which settings we needs to change to get the popup menu (help values) for Employee Group at selection screen and what is the reason for not displaying the help popup menu?.
and can any one explain us about the setting "Query Execution Filter Val. Selection u2013 Only Posted Values for Navigation"
    Thanks & Regards,
    Raju. E

    Hi,
I am getting the data aslo for Employee Group in the query when I drill down that char.
But I dont know why it is taking long time and getting time out to display the popup menu for help values at selection screen.
I think this is due to the below setting only at char level,
Query Execution Filter Val. Selection u2013 Only Posted Values for Navigation
and there are 3 opstions for the above seeting as below,
    1. Only values in master data
    2. Only values in Infoprovider
    3. Only Posted Values for Navigation
Can any one help me, which opstion will solve the issue and can any one explain me what is the difference between 2 & 3
    Thanks,
