Selections on attribute values in BPS

Hello,
I have a issue regarding the selection on attributes values in BPS (data slices, functions).
If I make a restriction on an <i>existing attribute value</i> of an infooject in a data slice or std function (not FOX nor Exit), everything works as required. Even if this particular attribute value is not in the selection of my level (this seems logic, if the value is not in my selection... it is not selected).
The problem is when I make a restriction on an <i>attribute value that is not assigned yet to a char value</i>.
If I run my layout or function, then I receive the following error message :
<i>Selections for characteristic XXX cannot be determined
Message no. UPC_FW137
Diagnosis
It was attempted to read the selections for characteristic XXX. But no values could be determined. This can have one of the following causes:
For characteristic XXX, the selection is defined by a hierarchy node, but no values were found for the selected nodes.
For characteristic XXX, the selection is defined by attribute selections, but no values were found for the attribute selections entered.
Procedure
Change the selection for characteristic XXX so that values can be delivered.
</i>
... Well yes I understand it but the attribute will be updated in another process, so I am expecting that if this value doesn't exist yet, the data slice/function does nothing since it has nothing to select...
The current workaround (but I don't like it at all) is to create dummy values of my characteristic where I put the attribute value I am interested in. Then even if these dummy char values are not contained in my level selection, everything works fine.
Do you have any clue/idea in order to help me on this?
Thank you in advance,

Any idea?

  • Getting the attribute value from a table from page def using el expression.

    Hi,
    Am using Jdeveloper 11.1.2.0.0 and have a requirement as follows for which a sample is been created. Requirement is as follows..
    1. Have a Taskflow that has a readonly table Employee.
    2. On clicking of a button called "route" checks if the selected row , Manager id attribute value = 200 then navigate to first page else if manager id attribute value is 200 then navigate to second page.
    Through the page def , if it has form , then we can access the attributes like #{data.view_FirstPageDef.ManagerId} . In case of acquiring the same attribute value from table using page def ? is what am unable to get..
    Have achieved the routing concept using the Router activity on Taskflow. But am unable to get the selected row attribute value of a table from the employee page def.. Can someone suggest on the same...
    Thanks and Regards,
    Vinitha G

    On the router, right click its icon in the task flow and create a page definition. Then in the page def file, add an iterator based on the same View Object from the table in the first page, then add a value attribute mapped to managerId in the View Object iterator. Finally in the router you can write EL expressions along the lines of #{bindings.ManagerId.inputValue = 200} or #{bindings.ManagerId.inputValue != 200}.

  • Select DISTINCT attribute vlaues fom XMLTYPE column and...

    Hello
    I have spent whole day to find the solution with no success. PLEAS HELP !
    The Problem :
    1. I have table with xmlType column in this column is the following xml:
    <revision>
    <product id = 1>
    <screw>
    <img id = 1/>
    </screw>
    <screw>
    <img id = 2/>

    </product>
    <product id = 2>
    <screw>
    <img id = 1/>
    </screw>
    </product>
    </revision>
    I must select DISTINCT img IDs and then select/join them form relational table img (id(number), pic (blob) )
    I can't find the solution to select distinct attribute values from XML!
    I have tried this:
    select extract(c.xml, 'revision/product/screw/img[not(@id=preceding-sibling::img/@id)]/@id') from TABLE c;

    Hello Odie_63
    I have again problem finally my XML looks that:
    <revision>
    <product id = "1">
    <screw>
    <img id = "1"/>
    </screw>
    <component>

    </product>
    </revision>'));
    And I don't know why my following statement doesn't work. (I must slect all distinct id from <img>).
    select distinct x.img_id
    from cfg_xml t
    , xmltable(
    '/revision/definitions/product'
    passing T.EQ_CFG_XML
    columns img_id number path '/component/img/@id',
    img_id2 number path '/screw/img/@id'
    ) x
    And this is VERY SLOW :/
    select x.img_id, y.img_id
    from cfg_xml t
    , xmltable(
    '/revision/definitions/product/screw/img'
    passing T.EQ_CFG_XML

  • Tricky! Change of navi-attribute values in ABAP and use in selections

    Hi gurus,
    now I have a teaser that really keeps me busy, and which might be interesting for some of you:
    we use several statuses in our <u>Demand Planning in SCM 5.0</u>, some of which can be switched by using a user-function macro which just basically is a ABAP function module that <u>changes navigation attribute values directly on the database</u>, meaning in the master data tables of the respective characteristic.
    Now, the code works, the values are changed accordingly, leaving the data set in object status "active" - <b>BUT</b>:
    <i>when we call a selection, it still shows the old values, even after activating master data or running the attribute change run!</i>
    This is not what we expected. Our wish was, that once the table was updated with the correct field values, we would also see them in our selections.
    <u>Details:</u>
    we have two statuses as navi-attributes to an article:
    <i>DP:</i> YES/NO, and
    <i>oDP:</i> YES/NO
    Combinations originally are: <i>DP</i> YES/<i>oDP</i> NO
    After the status change macro, the table shows the following, as expected:
    <i>DP</i> NO/<i>oDP</i> YES
    As we have two selections, one on DP status "YES", the other one on oDP status "YES", we would like to see the article vanish in the first selection and show up in the other one...
    Does anybody have an idea what is wrong and what we can do to have to proper navi-attribute values from the master data table in the selection? Does the selection not read from the database but from a buffer?
    Looking forward to your answers,
    Klaus

    Hi Fabrice,
    yes indeed, I did check the object version, and it is A.
    Problem is, the function module changes the data record which is "A" anyway. So the changed data record is active - however, I just had a look at the SID master data table, and it looks that direct changes to the P-table do not affect the X-table where the SIDs are stored. So I guess I will also have to update the X-table with the correct SID-values.
    If this works, I let you know. We will be using this change by ABAP quite often, it is rather useful.
    Regards and thanks for your prompt reply,
    Klaus

  • Setting property attribute values for multiple selected objects.

    Hello,
    Is there an easy way to set the attribute property values for more that one selected Table Operator Attribute (column) at a time. For example the target table has over 100 columns but I only want to INSERT/UPDATE 10 of those columns. The generated MERGE, INSERT and UPDATE statements will perform DML on all of the columns in the target table, setting the 90 columns with no mapping set to NULL. This is due to the Loading Properties 'Load Column when Updating Row' and 'Load Column when Inserting Row' both default to Yes. I would like to select multiple Attributes in the Table Operator and change the 'Load Column when Updating Row' and 'Load Column when Inserting Row' to No. This is similar to what you were able to do in Oracle Forms 9.0 Designer select multiple Items in a Block and change the properties en-masse.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    Using OMB scripting to set attribute properties in a data mapping sort of defeats the purpose of utilizing a graphical user interface to define and set properties for a data mapping? Surely the GUI data mapping tool was created to get away from writing scripts and scripting would also require that you know the name of the data mapping, table operator and the set of attribute names for which you have to write one line of script to set each property value, i.e. 90 lines to set 90 attribute values.
    Cheers,
    Phil

  • Select XML Node by a specific attribute value

    I am newbie for LifeCyle.
    This might be an easy question, but it really got me here.
    I am trying bind xml data into a Drop-Down List. The databinding is working fine, but I would like to have more specific node selected from the xml file by using a attribute value.
    for example Code in AS 3.0
    root.node.(@id=="1").subNode
    How could i do the same thing in LifeCycle Designer 8.0
    Thank you in advance!!!

    there's no native method for this, maybe you should create some functions for this. just like
    private function setAttribute(node:XML, name:String, value:String, index:int = -1):void
        var attrs:XMLList = node.attributes().copy(),
            l:int = attrs.length();
        if(index == -1 || index > l - 1)
            node.@[name] = value;
        else
            delete node.@*;
            var idx:int = 0;
            for (var i:int = 0; i < l + 1; i++)
                if(i == index)
                    node.@[name] = value;
                else
                    var attr:XML = attrs[idx];
                    node.@[attr.name()] = attr.toString();
                    idx++;
    and use it like this:
    setAttribute(myNode, "otherAttribute", "abc", 0);

  • How to assign attribute values to a range of BPs ????

    Hi All,
         While assigning attribute values to business partners we can specify at the most one business partner at a time.
    My requirement is to assign attribute values to a range of business partners at a time.
    Is there any customization setting where I can do this OR
    do I write a report for this ?
    Regards,
    Ashish

    Hi Ravi,
          Thanks for replying !!!!
    But, CRMD_MKT_TOOLS doesnt seem to solve my problem.
    I have a range of BPs (e.g 8000101 to 8000199).
    And I have a list of attribute sets with values as follows:-
    Attribute Set            Values
    Age group                1 - 10, 11 - 20, ....
    Reading habits          Business, sports, news.....
    Profession                Doctor , Engineer .......
    and so on..
    Now in transaction CRMD_PROF_BP, I can choose a single BP (e.g. 8000101) and assign it an attribute set(e.g. Profession) and value (Doctor).
    But, my requirement is to specify an entire range of BPs(8000101 to 8000150) and assign attribute set and values to that entire range.
    Now how do I achieve this ???????
    (target groups would be created only after attributes have been assigned)

  • Trying to set attribute value based on user selection of another attribute

    I am trying to set an attribute value based on the user's selection of another attribute using JSP EditCurrentRecord. ok, sorry everyone for making it confusing; this is what I am
    trying to acheieve;
    I would like the user to populate my database with thier
    username AND userID. I have a dropdown box with thier username
    dynamicly populated already, what I am trying to achieve, is a way
    of when the user selects thier username either another dropdown or
    a hidden field is automatically populated with the appropiate
    userID (to match thier username). Now I could just have two
    dropdowns and they select both, but i'd rather avoid the
    possibility of mismatches, and that is why I would like it to be
    automatic and based on thier username selection...
    Does that make sense....?

  • Range selection for Fix value variable in BPS

    Hi,
       When create vaiable, there is a fix value variable, under selection condition, we can choose either multiple single value or range, however if we choose the range, let say mtareial number from 1 to 100, when we run the BPS application through UPSPL, the value for material variable will be populated with value 1 to 100, when I try to change the value to a single value,it's not allowed me to change,  while the user define value type, we can change the value, Is this supposed to be?

    JW,
    BPS variables does not allow the choice of multiple single values, you can choose a single value OR a range of values. This issues has been brought up with SAP Development.
    If you need single values or a complete range of values, you can add each single value as a fixed value and the range as another fixed value that can be selected. You can select each single value individually or the whole range (or any subranges you specified) but not multiple selections of single values.
    In user definted variable if you check input allowed by users, you can add some values and the users can add more but then they could potentially go into material numbers they should not get access too.
    Hope this helps,
    Mary

  • How to select all single values in the header area

    Dear Experts
    I got a request that the user wants to select a single value or all single values in the header area. E.g. if the values from characteristic master data are A, B, C and D, the selection can be one of these values or all of them. With the standard BPS configuration, due to the unique combination in the header area, selection of  'All' single values is not possible. Is there a way to select all single values in the header area?
    Thanks, Jessica

    Hi Jessica,
    Here is a solution where you need not to change your planning layout or to create a new variable or any exit function.
    Step 1 - Maintain master data value 'ALL' in the required characteristic.
    Step 2 - Create a copy function to copy all the required data records to 'ALL'. you can use standard copy function where you have to include only this characteristic in the fields to be change.
    Copy -
    From = all values (A,B,C,D etc)
    To = "ALL".
    Step 3 - Call this function on layout opening. you can include it in the planning folder and change the function attribute to call it on layout opening.
    Step 4 - Create a standard Delete function. you have to call this function on save operation. In this function, you have to delete all data records present in the buffer where required char contains 'ALL' value.
    This approach can impact the performance of the planning application. It depends on the number of data records you are dealing with. Standard Copy and Delete functions are pretty fast in nature.
    I hope it will help you. please let me know if you need more inputs.

    Tarun

  • Attribute value to exit function module

    Hello group,
    I'm working in a sem-bps project and I have a problem with an exit function, because
    I need the function module to read the value of a characteristic's attribute.
    I read the standard function module UPF_VARIABLE_USER_EXIT_ATTR: it retrieves the attribute value through the import parameters ITO_ATTR TYPE  UPC_YTO_ATTR.
    I put this attribute on my exit function but when I check the content of the attribute it’s always empty. Do you know how I can transmit the parameter from the exit planning function to the function module?
    Any input is appreciated, thanks Andrea

    Andrea, if you want to fill a variable with the characteristic's attribute of another variable look at the document "HowTo_BPS_VarOfTypeExit.pdf" (i send at your e-mail if you want). It Follows an extract in which it's filled the second variable with the characteristic's attribute of another variable:
    Source code: Attribute values
    SELECT * FROM /bi0/mbps_produ INTO TABLE lt_chavl
    WHERE bps_prodl = ls_varsel-low.
    if sy-subrc <> 0.
    MESSAGE e026(upc) WITH ls_varsel-low '0BPS_PRODL'.
    attribute value not found
    exit.
    endif.
    ls_varsel-seqno = '0000'.
    ls_varsel-chanm = '0BPS_PRODU'.
    LOOP AT lt_chavl INTO ls_chavl.
    ls_varsel-seqno = ls_varsel-seqno + 1.
    ls_varsel-low = ls_chavl-bps_produ.
    APPEND ls_varsel TO eto_charsel.
    ENDLOOP.
    In the example above ls_varsel contains the attribute value to provide to eto_charsel (the output table in which you have the result).
    I suggest you to debug your application to see how ito_attr is passed to the FM.
    Hope it helps.

  • How can I access the Attribute Values from the Search Region

    Hi all,
    I have a table which contains Company id, department id, and PositonId. For a particular Company and Department there may be multiple records.
    I have to pupulate a table which contains the position and other details that comes under a particular Department and Position based on the selection in the Three comboBoxes.
    Also I have to populate a select many Shuttle to add new postions and records under a particular Department.
    I created a query panel *(Search Region)* for the serch and a table to display the data. That is working fine.
    Now the issue is I am using a view criteria to populate the shuttle with two bind variables ie, DepartmentId and CompanyId.
    If the serach will return a resuktant set in the table it will also pupulate the correct records, otherwise ie, if the if the serch result is empty the corresponding iterator and the attribute is setting as null.
    SO I want to access the attribute values from the Search Region itsef to populate the shuttle.
    I don't know how can I access the data from the Search Region.
    Please Help.
    Regards,
    Ranjith

    you could access the parameters entered in search region by the user as follows:
    You can get handle to the value entered by the user using queryListener method in af:query.
    You can intercept the values entered as described
    public void onQueryList(QueryEvent queryEvent) {
    // The generated QueryListener replaced by this method
    //#{bindings.ImplicitViewCriteriaQuery.processQuery}
    QueryDescriptor qdes = queryEvent.getDescriptor();
    //get the name of the QueryCriteria
    System.out.println("NAME "+qdes.getName());
    List<Criterion> searchList = qdes.getConjunctionCriterion().getCriterionList();
    for ( Criterion c : searchList) {
    if (c instanceof AttributeCriterion ) {
    AttributeCriterion a = (AttributeCriterion) c;
    a.getValues();
    for ( Object o : a.getValues()){
    System.out.println(o.toString());
    //call default Query Event
    invokeQueryEventMethodExpression("#{bindings.ImplicitViewCriteriaQuery.processQuery}",queryEvent);
    public void onQueryTable(QueryEvent queryEvent) {
    // The generated QueryListener replaced by this method
    //#{bindings.ImplicitViewCriteriaQuery.processQuery}
    QueryDescriptor qdes = queryEvent.getDescriptor();
    //get the name of the QueryCriteria
    System.out.println("NAME "+qdes.getName());
    invokeQueryEventMethodExpression("#{bindings.ImplicitViewCriteriaQuery.processQuery}",queryEvent);
    private void invokeQueryEventMethodExpression(String expression, QueryEvent queryEvent){
    FacesContext fctx = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
    ELContext elctx = fctx.getELContext();
    ExpressionFactory efactory = fctx.getApplication().getExpressionFactory();
    MethodExpression me = efactory.createMethodExpression(elctx,expression, Object.class, new Class[]{QueryEvent.class});
    me.invoke(elctx, new Object[]{queryEvent});

  • OBIEE Report based on attribute dim or say base attribute value

    Hi,
    I have OBIEE and Essbase implementation and have set of attribute dimensions. I am trying to understand how can I create reports in OBIEE where I can use the attribute values to filter, group, sum my fact data. For example I have a hierarchy for Dimension Supplier Geography as below -
    Geography (Gen1 - Dimension)
    (Gen2, Region)
    (Gen3, Country)
    (Gen4, Supplier Parent)
    (Gen5, Supplier) (Attribute as Company Name)
    Sample :
    Supplier Geography
    -- East
    -- C1
    -- PS1
    -- S1 (Comp1)
    -- S2 (Comp2)
    -- West
    -- C2
    -- PS2
    -- S3 (Comp1)
    -- S4 (Comp2)
    -- C3
    -- PS3
    -- S5 (Comp3)
    -- S6 (Comp4)
    -- North
    -- C4
    -- PS4
    -- S7 (Comp3)
    -- S8 (Comp4)
    -- South
    -- C5
    -- PS5
    -- S9 (Comp1)
    -- S10 (Comp2)
    Now, I would like to report where I can display information based on the attribute and display across different level. This would require to create drop down for this attribute values. For example -
    A drop down showing values are Comp1, Comp2, Comp3, Comp4. When user selects Comp1 and assume that I have fact as sales amount, it should show report as below -
    Comp1
    Region Sales Amount
    East - 10,000
    West - 5,000
    South - 7,000
    I don't want to add a level as company as it would result in lot of redundant information. Also, I have got almost half million members and it would explode the size if I add more levels. Is there any better way to achieve this? Can I model this using alternate hierarchy? If so how would this exposed in OBIEE again?
    Appreciate your inputs.
    Thanks

    If you are sure of the number of attributes the user will be using as criteria is fixed and will not change, you should able to bind the literals to page items like:
    select emp.ename
    from emp
    join attribute_value a1 on a1.empno = emp.empno and a1.att_name = 'DEPT'
    join attribute_value a2 on a2.empno = emp.empno and a2.att_name = 'SALARY'
    join attribute_value a3 on a3.empno = emp.empno and a3.att_name = 'HIREDATE'
    where a1.att_numeric_value = :P1_dept_value
    and   a2.att_numeric_value = :P1_salary_value
    and   a3.att_date_value = to_date(:P1_hiredate_value,'YYYY-MM-DD');or
    select emp.ename
    from emp
    join attribute_value a1 on a1.empno = emp.empno and a1.att_name = :P1_att1_name
    join attribute_value a2 on a2.empno = emp.empno and a2.att_name = :P1_att2_name
    join attribute_value a3 on a3.empno = emp.empno and a3.att_name = :P1_att3_name
    where a1.att_numeric_value = :P1_att1_value
    and   a2.att_numeric_value = :P1_att2_value
    and   a3.att_date_value = to_date(:P1_att3_value,'DD-MM-DD');What happens when your user wants to add another attribute and use it as search criteria. You have to:
    1) add a JOIN clause to the SELECT
    2) add to the WHERE clause to the SELECT
    Warning personal opinion to follow: I would give up binding (i.e.. skipping parsing os the SELECT statement) for the flexibility of generating the SELECT at runtime. If the user adds a new attribute, then the PL/SQL code that assembles the SELECT statement would not have to be changed. All the meta data is stored in the database as to what the new column is and which column in the attributes table to use (ATT_NUMERIC_VALUE or ATT_DATE_VALUE). If your method of displaying the attributes and receiving the user's criteria is dynamic like my example, then you would not have to change the application at all for new attributes.
    Just my 2 cents worth of opinion,
    Mike

  • How to get attribute value of a node

    Hi experts
    I have a mapped node in my view context from component controller context. This node consists of 2 value attributes inside
    Example:
    NODE1             -
    > Cardinality 1..1, seleciton 1..1
       -- x_date         -
    > type DATS
       -- x_years        -

    How do I get the attribute value attr1 and attr2 ??
    Here is my code in my view method
      DATA: lr_node_info TYPE REF TO if_wd_context_node_info,
            l_date       TYPE dats,
            l_xyears     TYPE i.
      lr_node_info = wd_context->get_node_info( ).
      lr_node_info = lr_node_info->get_child_node('NODE1').
       l_date       = lr_node_info->get_attribute( name = 'X_DATE' ).

    Hi Dean,
    Regading uour problem of reading the attributes value of the context node, you have to  use the code wizard. that ia avaliable on the top toolbar when you are inside the View Method
    There is option to read context  select that radio button option and then thru F4 help
    if you can select the node then Code is automatically generated with variable declaration.!!
    Like this :
      DATA lo_nd_node1 TYPE REF TO if_wd_context_node.
        DATA lo_el_node1 TYPE REF TO if_wd_context_element.
        DATA ls_node1 TYPE wd_this->element_node1.
        DATA lv_x_date LIKE ls_node1-x_date.
        DATA lv_x_year LIKE ls_node1-x_year.
      navigate from <CONTEXT> to <NODE1> via lead selection
        lo_nd_node1 = wd_context->get_child_node( name = wd_this->wdctx_node1 ).
      get element via lead selection
        lo_el_node1 = lo_nd_node1->get_element(  ).
      get all declared attributes
        lo_el_node1->get_static_attributes(
          IMPORTING
            static_attributes = ls_node1 ).
        lv_x_date = ls_node1-x_date.
        lv_x_date = ls_noe1-x_year.
    if you can select the attribute then Code is automatically generated with variable declaration.!!
    DATA lo_nd_node1 TYPE REF TO if_wd_context_node.
      DATA lo_el_node1 TYPE REF TO if_wd_context_element.
      DATA ls_node1 TYPE wd_this->element_node1.
      DATA lv_x_date LIKE ls_node1-x_date.
    navigate from <CONTEXT> to <NODE1> via lead selection
      lo_nd_node1 = wd_context->get_child_node( name = wd_this->wdctx_node1 ).
    get element via lead selection
      lo_el_node1 = lo_nd_node1->get_element(  ).
    get single attribute
      lo_el_node1->get_attribute(
        EXPORTING
          name =  `X_DATE`
        IMPORTING
          value = lv_x_date ).
    Hopes this will helps you.
