Send Email with Excel attachment with formatting(bold, color) in Background

Hi,
I have requirement wherein I have to send an email with excel attachment with proper formatting of certain fields in the excel sheet like making it bold or setting different color. The data is available in an internal table. Just to to format it and send an email when the program is executed in background mode.
Any pointers on this would be highly appreciated!

Dear experts,
I am sending a mail to outlook with an excel attachment. The mail is sent with attachment and the data, but all in one cell.
I am using SO_NEW_DOCUMENT_ATT_SEND_API1. What parameters do i need to manipulate to have data in different columns of excel? I am using "packing_list" table of FM. But dont know the exact parameters to be passed. Can anyone help with the same please?

Problem in excel format while sending mail with excel attachment.

Hi Gurus ,
I am sending a email with Excel attachment using FM SO_DOCUMENT_SEND_API1 or SO_NEW_DOCUMENT_ATT_SEND_API1.
I am able to send a mail with excel attachment with a piece of code which I got from SDN itself.
But the problem is when I am trying to open the attachment, A pop up comes which says that it is not in recognizable format. Would you like to open it?
and several other lines of caution.
When i choose to open it, i get the correct data in one excel sheet. Certain vertical lines of the excel sheet is missing. But no data is missing.

How to send pdf or excel attachment as saved alv layout in email

Hi Guru,
I am developing a report in which, i am sending report as excel attachment after clicking a button on top of alv grid, and pdf attachment after clicking another button on top of alv grid. I am sending mail by two ways they are:
1) I am populating my internal table value in separate internal table and converting that to string and sending email as excel attachment.
2) And am converting report as spooljob, and using abapspool 2 pdf function module i am converting spool to pdf, after that am send that pdf as mail attachment.
Now my requirement is i need to send email attachment as layout which is displayed in the alv screen, even i hide a column and change the layout it is going with all the columns. What should i do for this problem.

Error in Sending Mail with excel attachment

Hi All,
While sending a mail with excel attachment it is getting successfully send but when i am opening the excel it gives a popup saying "The file is not in recognizable format", and when i click OK the data is getting displayed.
So anybody has any idea of how to remove the popup??
I am using SO_NEW_DOCUMENT_ATT_SEND_API1 FM for sending the mail.

I was facing the issue when I did not populate the parameters packing_list, object_header,contents_bin, contents_txt of the FM
SO_NEW_DOCUMENT_ATT_SEND_API1 properly.
Also the possible cause could be the configuration in SCOT, not very sure about this. Check with the BASIS guy.

I have an Adobe Form data available in the ECC system in XSTRING format. In one of my ABAP methods (used by a custom workflow task), i want to convert the XSTRING data in PDF format and send it as an attachment with a work-item. How best can this be done?

Couple of questions.
How are you sending this message. Is it a message that you create and send Internally with an attachment.
As you reply me, please also check if the Attachments folder has been set under Administration > System Initialization > General Settings.....Path Tab
SBO tries to copy the attachment from the location you select to the Path defined for Attachments.

Issue with Excel Attachement in BI 7.0

Hi,
I have developed a custom report to send an e-mail with excel attachment in BI 7.0. When we are trying to open the excel sheet attachment in the e-mail. I am getting a message warning message stating that 'This file is not in a recognizable format'. but if we click on ok button then everything looks fine i.e the data is displaying as expected.
I have developed the same reports in SAP R/3 and SRM but I don't see any issues over there.

When the selection screen pops up choose the KEY only function on the TOOLS on the top right corner of the screen. Then you will be able to enter the values manually.

Excel attachment with SO_DOCUMENT_SEND_API1

Hello Everyone,
I am using SO_DOCUMENT_SEND_API1 for sending mail.
It works well with text attachment.
Whereas with excel attachment:
The fn module for sending mail SO_DOCUMENT_SEND_API1 gives return code zero.
The excel attachment mail can be seen in transaction SOST. But its process fails stating that it cannot be converted.
(Message : Message cannot be processed as it cannot be converted)
Can anyone suggest me what might be wrong ??

Cannot send emails to .gmail address with bluewin account

My mum has an IMac (Snow Leopard) with a bluewin account and cannot send emails to a friend with a .gmail account. She gets an error message 17099, I think. Thanks for your help.

The destination of a mail message has nothing to do with locally reported errors attempting to send. If you could send, and the destination was wrong, generally all that would happen is you would get a "bounce" message that the receiver couldn't be found, and that wouldn't be instantaneous.
Real errors like you describe that occur while sending means that either there's something wrong with your SMTP configuration (settings needed to send to the SMTP server) you set up in your mail client, or the SMTP server itself has a problem.
Does this error occur with every mail you attempt to send to anyone or just that specific account? Can you send a mail to yourself? And also, which email client are you using?

I am trying to email an excel attachment from ABAP, but when I open in excel, it says not a recognizable format, but when I click OK it does open as a tab-delimited file and look OK.
Any ideas please?

Issue in Sending email with EXCEL attachment

Hi,
Im using the FM SO_NEW_DOCUMENT_ATT_SEND_API1 for sending emails to a list of recipients with an excel attachment. In the attachment data, as the field length is 255 for the structure SOLISTI1, for the records having more than 255 characters, data is being truncated. I did a search in this forum and done some changes , still it is not working properly.
I have used SCMS_TEXT_TO_XSTRING, SCMS_XSTRING_TO_BINARY FMs for converting the data to hexa format. This case, records having more than 255 are displayed properly in the attachment, but there are blank lines inserted between two records.
Please suggest me to resolve this isssue.

Hi Jayashree,
you might want to check out the example link by Saso in his post Send external email from within ABAP program to xls.
For the rest I can only guess that there might be some issues with the format you use for Excel. In case of empty lines and using a text format for Excel the issue is in most cases that there are too many carriage return line feeds in the text fiel (cl_abap_char_utilities=>cr_lf).

Problem with EXCEL format while sending a mail with excel attachment

Hi,
I'm trying to send a report through mail as an excel attchment. But though I get all the details in the attachmnet format in excel is not proper. It's in a very hapazard way. I tried putting control break statements after each record then also though there is slight betterment it's not ok. If I send the same thing as a pdf attachment it's perfect. May I know what else i need to do for excel.....? I tried compressing and then sending no luck......
I'm in version 4.6c.....
