Send query to Oracle DB and bind result to Grid

Is it possible to send a query to an Oracle DB and populate a
grid with the result?
If so, what are the steps (tutorial somewhere...)?
Thank you.

  • Need help sending dialog to remote computer and saving results

    As the title states, what I want to do is send a dialog box to all remote computers listed in the array $compnames where I can receive a yes or no and either save this as a file or array to pass back to my local computer to shutdown the ones where either
    a yes or no answer is received. I have the following code segment and I am missing the no answer received part and I am not sure how to receive the responses form each computer.
    Invoke-Command -ComputerName $element -scriptblock {
    [system.reflection.assembly]::LoadWithPartialName("system.windows.forms")
    $useOutput = [System.Windows.Forms.MessageBox]::Show("The Lab is being shut down. Press YES to abort.", "WARNING", 'YesNo', 'Exclamation')
    if ($useOutput -eq [Windows.Forms.DialogResult]::Yes)
    $sendBack = 0
    Write-Output $sendBack
    else
    $sendBack = 1
    Write-Output $sendBack
    <# TODO: 1) write computer name and whether a user clicked yes to abort to a csv file (save just no's for logs)
    1.1) maybe add computer name to
    2) immediately shut down any computer where user allows shutdown
    3) after 30 seconds, add remaining computers with no action to csv file to shut down
    4) Open messagebox popup on host computer to ask if want to shutdown remaining computers
    5) Shut down remaining computers
    #>
    if ($sendBack -eq 1)
    #if the computer is ready to turn off
    #shut it down
    else
    #add to array or file to be shut down later
    Any guidance or advice would be great!
    -------Edit 1-----------
    In accordance with what this first two commenters have posted. I am thinking of a quirky solution.
    What if I have a script on the remote computer that I call with the Invoke-Command that opens a message box and then depending on the response uses the msg.exe cmdlet to send either a 1 or a 0 back. The host computer then takes these answers and creates
    two arrays, one for yeses and one for nos. I guess the only issue with this would be is receiving the messages in an orderly manner over the course of 30seconds and having the messages be 'silent' so the script picks them up but there is no explicit message
    pop up on my computer.
    I have found the following from the invoke-command section of ss64.com:
    "Run the Test.ps1 script on the Server64 computer. The script is located on the local computer. The script runs on the remote computer and the results are returned to the local computer:PS C:\> invoke-command -filepath c:\scripts\test.ps1 -computerName
    Server64"
    So could I not send a message box through this and have the result returned to me?

    Actually, it might be doable (albeit not all that ... cleanly):
    Create a task on the remote computer that will run under any currently logged in user which displays a messagebox that returns values and writes the result to a file. (Which will of course require a folder where all users have write permissions to to write
    the files in)
    Trigger the task
    Check for result files
    Cheers,
    Fred

  • Query for oracle 9i and 10g on same box

    HI
    All,
    I have oracle 9i installed on one box it has
    oracle home /u01/app/oracle/product/9.2.0
    and i am gonna install oracle 10g on different home /u01/app/oracle/product/10.2.0
    Do I need to specify different location for OraInventory?
    so what else I need to take care?
    Thanks,
    Vishal

    So there should not be a problem if it is the same
    orainventory location for both 9i and 10g right.There should be no problem.
    can you throw more focus on below ?
    When managing different oracle versions on the same
    box you should take care of environment variables to
    properly point to each ORACLE HOME and PATH, and
    ensure different ports do not conflict.
    For instance, you should use the Listener of the latest release on the server (in this case 10g) to services all the databases on that box 9both 9i and 10g).
    When you want to startup and shutdown 9i database, you do not want to shutdown a 10g database by mistake. Hence, setting things like ORCLE_HOME and ORACLE_SID.
    Also, Oracle Server make use of libraries. You do not want to mix up 9i and 10g libraries. hence take care when you set things like PATH, LD_LIBRARY_PATH etc
    The same applies to all Environment variables you want to set on the server that has different oracle releases. You just need to ensure that when you logon, your variables are set correctly for the intended oracle release before you do anything.

  • Query can't stop and no result return

    Sorry for poor english. I have a question, when I run a query(select * from A) using sql developer 3.1.07 on my pc(win7 home basic), it can't stop for a long time, and provide me nothing. There are no errors either.
    But if I run the query on the database server or other servers, it works fine.
    And if I specified the columns ,it works fine, such like this: select c1, c2 from A.
    And if I count the row number, it works fine , such like this: select count(*) from A.
    There are only 164 rows in this table and each row has 7 columns.
    Now I have found that only this table has this problem.
    the same question is here, but it's not answered.
    SQL Developer not providing query results.
    can anyone help me ,thanks very much

    No fault with your box. Trick play isn't available on the radio.
    You probably missed the thread from a couple of years back which said there were no plans to do anything about it.
    You may find that the programme can be fast forwarded on iPlayer (try both >> and >>|), although note that radio on iPlayer does come out of your allowance, but uses very little bandwidth.

  • Query exception (comparison individual and global results)

    Hi Experts,
    Please can anyone tell me how can I implement the following:
    There is a KF "A".
    I'd like to change the color of the cell in result of the comparison with the global result.
    For example : if the individual value > Global result then green.
    Please help.

    Asika,
    Welcome to SDN..
    Basically you will have to uniquely identify the cells that have the necessary condition...
    Have a third column which is a 1 or a 0 depending on the value of KFA and then apply your exception to the same - use the if statement in formula
    Hope it helps..

  • Select query differences between oracle 9 and oracle 8.

    Hi,
    I have a problem using the select query between oracle 7 and oracle 9i I don't have the same result :
    ex:
    With oracle7
    SQL> select 'champ1','champ2' from DUAL;
    'CHAMP 'CHAMP
    champ1 champ2
    With Oracle 9
    SQL> select 'champ1','champ2' from DUAL;
    'CHAMP1' 'CHAMP2'
    champ1 champ2
    So Can someone tell me how to solve this problem ? Is there a parameter in oracle 9 to set?
    Thanx.

    Whenever you are posting anything over internet forums like this - you should be very careful about not just posting the details which requires to solve the problem - also should be sensible about your question.
    This is not at all desired when you are posting such question. It may be because - you may not well aware of the fact.
    My suggestion is -> First Go through the basics Of SQL in general.
    Then go for any specific product like Oracle/ SQL Server/ Sybase etc.
    And, finally learn the advanced commands of that DB.
    You asked it - may be you thought the difference in output in terms of lines. But, that is not your actual output. That is the graphical display part only.
    Anyway,
    You can get the quite familier output by first type the following command ->
    set lin 310Regards.

  • Deploy and Bind ant tasks

    Re,
    I am using the 10.1.3 beta of oc4j and we are starting to run into some problems with using the oracle deploy and bind ant tasks provided. As our application is growing, the deploy task is taking longer and longer (which by itself is not really a problem since that is to be expected, and when I say long it is only a few seconds so it is tolerable). The problem (I think) lies in the ant tasks. Our "bind" tasks depends on the "deploy" task. But, it seems that sometimes the bind task actually starts before the deploy task is finished. So, we are wondering if there is something wrong with the deploy task. Either oc4j is sending a signal that the deploy is complete before it actually is or the deploy ant task is just waiting a few seconds and then assuming it is complete.
    The only way for us to make this problem go away is to run the deploy ant task, look at the console to see that the deploy is finished and then run the bind task separately. Needless to say, that is a bit annoying and hard to automate.
    Any ideas?

    Chris,
    Thanks. I dont think that is it. The process waits a while (so maybe they are the ones doing a sleep).
    I am hoping to find out what is actually happening under the hood and if there is in fact a 'wait' giong on, implore to the development staff that they fix that issue before things are GA. Or, if something else is going on ... maybe I can fix it on my end.
    Thanks,
    Greg

  • Can WS name and Binding name be changed?

    Hi,
    When we generating the wsdl file from a sender agreement, A webservice name and Binding name have been created in the wsdl file.
    web service name AS "XI_20ec1074cc28367c964b34f226098f29_Service"
    and binding name as "ServiceInterfacenameBinding"
    But the legacy people who are going to access this webservice need this names to be changed. is it possible from PI??
    i mean like instead of "XI_20ec1074cc28367c964b34f226098f29_Service" they want some name like "getProductinformation"
    and binding name like as "ProductinformationBinding"
    Regards,
    Balaji
    Edited by: Balaji Pichaimuthu on Sep 1, 2010 8:32 AM

    Hi Balaji,
    It s not possible within PI, as this Information is generated when you retrieve the WSDL from the Directory.
    However if you want to change that you can do it manally before forwarding the WSDL to other people.
    The name of Binding/Service has no impact on the call at runtime.

  • ACL error when sending email from Oracle 11g

    Hi,
    It returned something like "error...ACL security" when I tried to send email from Oracle 11g. Is there any security thing that I need to release in Oracle 11g? I used to send emails from Oracle 10g and didn't find any problem.
    Thanks.
    Andy

    In Database 11g Oracle introduced Network Access Control Lists (ACLs) to protect the database from users using the many internet-capable packages such as UTL_INADDR, UTL_HTTP, UTL_TCP, etc.
    Read all about it in the docs and look at the code demos here:

  • How to access MYSQL from Oracle 10g and vice versa

    I will like to know how do I create a database link between Oracle 10g and MYSQL database on windows.  I have been saddled with responsibility of ensuring the communications between the 2 databases and I have searched everywhere on google, I could not find anywhere where this is explain explicitly and made work.
    THank you

    In general Oracle offers 2 different products to connect from an Oracle database to a MS SQL Server. The first product is for free and it is called
    As DG4ODBC is a generic connectivity based on ODBC it allows you to connect to many foreign databases as long as you have a suitable ODBC driver.It for example allows you to read from text files but also connect to foreign databases like MS SQL Server or IBM DB2. Due to this wide variety of foreign data sources tha capabilities of DG4ODBC are very limited. It only supports a few Oracle functions that it can directly map to foreign database equivalents. All other functions will be post processed. Post processing means that ALL records from the foreign table(s) will be fetched into the Oracle database and the result is then processed locally - so depending on the amount of data stored in the foreign database it might take a while.
    To be complete here some notes to follow up:
    This Oracle support note describes possible options you have to connect to a foreign database:
    Document 233876.1 Options for Connecting to Foreign Data Stores and Non-Oracle Databases - For example - DB2, SQL*Server, Sybase, Informix, Teradata, MySQL
    So you see, to connect from Oracle to MySQL you need to use the Database gateway for ODBC release 11.2 (HSODBC which was shipped with 10g was desupported in march 2008).
    The Database Gateway for ODBC 11.2 (=DG4ODBC) license is included in the Oracle database license and it allows you to connect with a suitable 3rd party ODBC driver to a foreign database.
    For your MySQL connection you only need to download and configure the MySQL ODBC driver from the MySQL web site. Once you can connect with the ODBC driver you could then download and configure DG4ODBC.
    As you didn't post on which platform your Oracle database is installed, here 2 notes for common platforms:
    How to Configure DG4ODBC on 64bit Unix OS (Linux, Solaris, AIX, HP-UX Itanium) to Connect to Non-Oracle (Doc ID 561033.1)
    How to Configure DG4ODBC (Oracle Database Gateway for ODBC) on 64bit Windows Operating Systems to Connect to Non-Oracle Databases Post Install (Doc ID 1266572.1)

  • Query result caching on oracle 9 and 10 vs indexing

    I am trying to improve performance on oracle 9i and 10g.
    We use some queries that take up to 30 minutes to execute.
    I heard that there are some products to cache query results.
    Would this have any advantage over using indexes or materialized views?
    Does anyone know any products that I can use to cache the results of this queries on disk?
    Personally I think that by using the query result caching I would reduce the cpu time needed to process the query.
    Is this true?

    Your message post pushes all the wrong buttons starting with the fact that 9i and 10g are marketing labels not version numbers.
    You don't tune queries by spending money and throwing resources at them. You tune them by identifying the problem queries, running explain plans, visualizing their output using DBMS_XPLAN, and addressing the root cause.
    If you want help post full version numbers, the SQL statements, and the DBMS_XPLAN outputs.

  • Error while sending query result

    Divija,
    Am not sure if this is the exact cause for your problem, but would anyways suggest that you take a look at it,
    <i>classes12.zip is not compatible with JDK 1.4.</i>
    From the note : <b>831162</b>

    <b>Q: I have deployed the Oracle classes12.zip / classes12.jar JDBC driver as per the instructions in the XI Configuration Guide.
    Unfortunately, I frequently notice hanging database connections. A thread dump taken according to the instructions in note 710154 shows one or more blocking JDBC Sender/Reciver threads and optionally that the JVM has detected a deadlock.
    A: The Oracle classes12.zip / classes12.jar driver is compatible with Java 1.2 and Java 1.3 only, but not with Java 1.4. Please upgrade to a current driver (ojdbc14.jar), which does support the Java 1.4 JVM you are using.
    Please make sure that you remove classes12.zip / classes12.jar from aii_af_jmsproviderlib.sda prior to adding the new driver as per the instructions in the answer to question #1 above as you will get a class name collision otherwise (all JARs from aii_af_jmsproviderlib.sda are loaded into the same class loader and the driver class name of both driver versions is the same).
    Before deploying the updated driver, ensure that the new version is still compatible with your Oracle database server release. For details, please refer to the release notes provided by Oracle.</b>

  • Problem with different resultset with same data and same query in Oracle 8.1.7 and 9i

    Hello,
    I have been using this query in oracle 8.1.7
    SELECT
    ID,
    AREA_NO
    FROM MANAGER_AREA MGR
    WHERE COMPANY_ID = :id AND
    (:value < (SELECT COUNT(ROWID)
    FROM MANAGER_WORK MW
    WHERE MW.AREA_ID = MGR.ID AND
    (MW.END_WORK IS NULL OR MW.END_WORK >= SYSDATE)))
    order by AREA_NO;
    In the above query I want to see rows from MANAGER_AREA table depending upon date criteria in the table MANAGER_WORK and also upon the parameter :value i.e if I pass a value as 0 I get to see records for which their is atleast 1 record in MANAGER_WORK with the date criteria and if I pass -1 then I get all the records because minimum value that count(*) would give is 0. The resultset was as expected in 8.1.7.
    A couple of days back I installed PERSONAL 9i to test for testing the basic functionality of our program with the same data. This query fails and irrespective whether I pass -1 or 0 it returns me same dataset which I would have got in case if I pass 0.
    I do not know whether this is a bug that has got introduced in 9i. Can anybody help me with this problem. It would be difficult for me to change the parameter send to this query as the Query is called from many different places.
    Thanks in advance
    Amol.

    I cannot use a Group by and a having statement over here. The problem with 'Group by' and 'having' clause is If I have to make a join between the two tables. When I use join then I get only rows that are linked to each other in the table.
    If I use outer join to solve that problem then I have to take in consideration the other date condition. My previous query use to virtually discard the corelated query result by using -1 as the value. This will not happen in the join query.

  • Creating and Binding View Objects dynamically : Oracle Jdeveloper 11g

    Hello,
    We are trying to create and bind view objects dynamically to adf data visualization components.
    The view object is a result of multiple tables.
    We are using Oracle JDeveloper 11g Technical Preview. ( can't upgrade to TP2 or TP3 now).
    We have found this : http://radio.weblogs.com/0118231/stories/2003/07/15/creatingUpdateableMultientityViewObjectDefinitionsDynamically.html on our search for the same.
    The sample application however, is in 10g , hence required migration.
    Also, it was a standalone application with the TestClient.java having a main() method.
    Our requirement is for Web Application; we use Adf+jsf .
    Guidance of any sort is very much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
    -Anil Golla

    Hi,
    there also exist a forum for JDeveloper 11: JDeveloper and OC4J 11g Technology Preview
    What you are trying todo is not trivial because you need to not only dynamically create the VO, you would also dynamically need to create the binding meta data for it (assuming you use ADF). Not sure if the API to modify the binding is public, so posting it on the JDeveloper 11 forum bears a glimpse of hope for an answer
    In JDeveloper 10.1.3 you can't do this

  • Index rules in oracle text and query using matches

    Dear All,
    I would like to ask about rules and matches function in oracle text.
    I followed an example in oracle text application developer's guide.
    I have a rule table like this :
    1 oracle
    2 larry or ellison
    3 oracle and text
    4 market share
    then, I create an index to that table. This is needed for calling matches function. Here is the syntax :
    create index queryx on queries(query_string)
    indextype is ctxsys.ctxrule;
    then, I noticed that the result on DR$QUERYX$I table as follows :
    LARRY 0 2 2 1 (BLOB)
    MARKET 0 4 4 1 (BLOB) {MARKET} {SHARE}
    ORACLE 0 1 1 1 (BLOB)
    ORACLE 0 3 3 1 (BLOB) {TEXT}
    ELLISON 0 2 2 1 (BLOB)
    What I want to ask is why doesn't the words 'share' and 'text' appear in the DR$QUERYX$ table?
    When we use matches function, it then search on the index result and consequently it wion't find the 'share' word. so when for example I do query like this :
    select query_id from queries where matches(query_string,' It only share ten percent of all products sold')>0
    it will give 0 result since the no word in ' It only share ten percent of all products sold' was in index table. But actually it could possibly be categorized as the 4 category which rules is 'market share'
    I tried this in a larger set of data and get same result.
    Here is my generated rules from my document collection :
    1 {REQUIREMENTS} & {ELICITATION}
    1 {REQUIREMENTS} ~ {ELICITATION} & {ACTOR}

    Thank you very much.

    Hm, I see. It do make sense. so nice to know.
    But then in the second example I gift where I used larger table, as shown below :
    Here is my generated rules from my document collection :

    3 {PM} & {TESTING} & {ATTRIBUTI}
    As far as I know, the sign ' ~ ' means 'OR' and '&' means 'and' . So based on the 4th line in my table :
    1 {REQUIREMENTS} ~ {ELICITATION} ~ {ACTOR} ~ {FURPS} ~ {OUTLINE}
    it can be concluded that if any of the words stated there been queried, so the category '1' will appear as a result. But then before we can use 'matches' to query it, we need ti create index for the rules table . I did it and the result were :
