Sending oracle report automatically

Hello,
Can anybody help in figuring from oracle reports 10g to send automatically to pdf format report to a sepcific email address? if could please give a sample code to achieve thsi?

I am currently working on a solution for this. The report server and installation environment were causing it's share of issues, most of which I think I have overcome. I am currently having problems with our Report Server with large number of pages. But for small reports it is working.
But it depends on your definition of 'automatic'. We have a custom scheduling tool that runs a Unix script that calls the report server with runtime parameters. After report is generated we use another custom Unix script to create an email attachment combining email header and footer text along with mime settings.
If you are trying to do this form Windows - no help.

did you try to run report parameter form = yes ,
put to the parameter form following system parameters and set et.
run report with belove value
    - DESTYPE = MAIL
    - DESFORMAT = PDF
    - DESNAME = mail adres
then according to the result ,rearrange your report forms side while invoke report from forms
     - SET_REPORT_OBJECT_PROPERTY( reportobject_id , DESTYPE          , mail ) ;
     - SET_REPORT_OBJECT_PROPERTY( reportobject_id , DESFORMAT     , PDF ) ;
     - SET_REPORT_OBJECT_PROPERTY( reportobject_id , DESNAME          , mail adres ) ;

Is there a way to send the reports with desformat=spreadheet to email(destype=mail). I tried to execute the commandline with destype=mail desname=[email protected] desformat=spreadsheet but I am getting a report with html type attachment. How could I make it xls(excel) instead of html

When having lots of repeating frames and fields placed in a complex pattern, the Oracle Reports doesn't know how to place them in the .xls cells.
You ought to have a second layout for the report (containing the same data) that would print when the desformat = spreadsheet and would be be rather simple in comparison to the one that would print when desformat=pdf/html.
In case you have several repeating frames it is best to have all the fields in those frames placed and vertically aligned on the same row in the layout, from left to right. This should give a reasonable output.

Sending oracle report direct to a printer

Hi guys, am using run_report_object to call my report, meanwhile I set report destination parameter(on the report i created on forms that calls the report itself) to printer, but its not printing. please I will highly appreciate any useful code

How to send Oracle AS report automatically by email

Dear Gurus,
I would like to generate a Oracle report automatically and send it by Email. so for that I am trying by using below command

But I am getting below error.
REP-0177: Error while running in remote server
Executed successfully but there were some errors when distribute the output.
But if i tried to generate the output as a file in local machine its working fine and below comand is generating report on local desk

I need to know how can i configure discoverer 4i in order to send a report automatically?

The specific size limit is a function of the email server(s) involved -- the one BI is configured to talk to and the one where the user fetches his mail. Either way, it's not something directly related to BIP.
To my knowledge, there isn't any way to tell BIP to zip/archive/compress its output.
In general, I have found that large email attachments are usually problems waiting to happen. You may be better off to take a different tact entirely -- for instance, email a URL that accesses the report directly from the BIP server.

We are running one jobchain for all billing jobs . Is any chance is there to send a report automatically to certain pupils for every one hour regarding the job status(excel format ) .

Hi Ram,
I need your help on getting mail alert with log file.
here is how i have provide the parameter valure for job definition: system_mail_sent.
Step1 with one job1 and step2 with one job1
In step2 , i have included the job definition to send mail. with below parameter.
Relative Job: Step 1, Job 1
Job File: step 1, job 1: step 1/log.txt
Please let me know if the above method is correct or not.
NOTE: mail server and from address are configured.

and what are prerequisites required.
Our current Platform Details:
OS : NT
RDBMS : ORACLE 8.0 (SERVER EDITION)
FORMS : 6.0 VER.
REPORTS : 6.0 VER.
And also pls. clarify the following details.
1. Is it possible to email Non-character mode report
2. what kind of tool required to see the email attachment.
3. Is it required modem on each client machine to enable email output.
4. Server computer itself any modem is required to enable email output.

After installing oracle getting Microsoft "Send Error Report" & crashes app

After I installed Oracle 8i on windows XP, I am getting this error very frequently. As soon as I boot the computer I get the pop-up "Send Error Report" 4-5 times. Also I got this while using Client & Profits, MS Power Point and lots of other application. I get this pop-up and the application crashes. This is strange.
Has anybody faced this also? Can anybody help me with this? Is it because Oracle overwrites some of Microsoft's JVM and other things..

What edition you are running? PO 8i (8.1.7) had some issues with XP. Check for your edition's certification wrt Windows XP. 9i is certified with XP

When send the report directly to the printer from Oracle IDS 9i

I m using Oracle IDS 9i, Oracle AS 9i and Database 9i for my new project.But i m facing a problem when i m trying to show a report from oracle IDS 9i.When i send the report directly to the printer without showing it,then the printer connected to the application server is working.But the printer connected to with PC(From where a send the command) is not working but printer connected with AS is working,but not that one which one i m wanting.....Why this problem is happening?Can anyone help me?

Note:It is always better to have network based printers rather then PC shared printers. What that means is your printer is not connected to a PC. It has a direct connection to the network via NIC. You would then setup the printer on your AS in the printers setup. If the AS is rebooted you do not need to authenticate the printer shares again with a network based printer.
If I understand you correctly, you have a printer connected to your AS(application server) and a printer connected to your PC. You can submit a report direct to the printer connected to the AS but cannot send a report direct to your printer connected to your PC.
From the symptoms you described, the problem is usually associated with the AS not being able to see the printer shared on your PC. You either have the address to your printer address defined wrong or your AS is trying to direct a job to your printer but doesn't have rights to do it.
First, Try to print a notepad job to your printer attached to your PC from the AS. This will tell you if you have access to do so or not.
- If it can't, you need to figure out why? This has nothing to do with oracle.
Second, thing to check is your Oracle "Report Queue Manager" on the AS. Make sure that you can submit a report manually from the Report Queue Manager. If it fails the "Report Queue Manager" will give you useful errors as to why it failed. This will help you isolate the problem.
Third, Once you can submit a job from the reports queue manager manually to your shared printer you should be able to submit from your application direct. If it still does not work your address to the printer is incorrect. Try submitting manually through the reports queue manager again. When selecting printer you will be given a list of accessible printers from the AS. Select the one connected to your PC. Once selected the full network address will appear. Copy and use this as the printer location in your job submission through your application.
That's it... Where using this right now and it works great. Hope this helps.

there is no native support for directly faxing a report. you could e.g. use a fax-software that has a printer-driver that supports this.

from this you can get the Mail id :
then you use the function module SO_NEW_DOCUMENT_SEND_API1.

I have integrated Oracle Reports with Oracle Portal and used the scheduling feature via portlets. We have reports that run every monday morning for management. For more info go to:

I think if you set destype=mail, desformat=PDF, and desname=[email protected] that should also do the trick.
Just be sure that you have put your mail server's IP address in the rep_<machine_name>.conf file located in your <oracle_home>/reports/conf directory. If this is not set up, the mail feature won't work.
