Sent emails gone

I use an iPad with iOs8 and was having issues with the default mail program not sending emails. So, I deleted the account and recreated it. All the INBOX emails came in, but all of my SENT emails are missing now.  I assumed they backed up on the cloud, but it wasn't a cloud email account. It's the default email account that comes with ipad. Is there a way to get the sent emails back?? So upsetting.

The sent emails are gone. They are not backed up to iCloud unless they were associated with the iCloud email account.
There is no default email account that comes with the iPad. You must be referring to your ISP mail or some other service like GMail. The received emails were retrieved from there.

  • In my MacBook Pro "sent" mailbox emails are listed by my email address but on my iPad the "sent" emails are listed by the sent email address?

On my MacBook Pro in the "sent" mailbox emails are listed by my email address but on my iPad the "sent" emails are listed by the sent email address.  Very hard to look at the address where the message was sent to?

After upgrading to IOS 7.0.3 the problems gone.
There is no mention of this being a bug or a fix so im thinking a software glitch was the issue.
When I look at a message in my inbox and it says "To: JB Manz" - I click my name and it shows my contact info including my 4 email addresses and the address the message was addressed to is highlighted blue, others all black.
Not sure how it got fixed but it's working like it used to.

  • Some SENT emails do not appear in SENT box

I have the latest Mavericks OS x operating system and fully updated. Some email I send do not appear in the SENT box. It is infuriating. I do not know whether they have reached their destination until I get a reply. Somestime I don't get a reply so where has the email gone. I have search all boxes, turned email accounts off and on, shut down my PC but still this problem persists.   I have an iPad  and a 5s iPhone and this problem does not occur with these devices so it is not account problem. I am with SKY YAHOO.   Derek

Downloading the new operating system Yosemite seems to have cleared this problem - for now !

  • Sent email gets marked as 'unread'

    Hi all,
I'm getting two rather frustrating issues on Apple Mail.
Firstly, sent emails are starting to, on occasion (probably 50% of the time), get marked as 'unread' in my sent mailbox. This was not an issue in the past.
Secondly, my to do items are disappearing. The items are being stored on a local calendar (so no sync issues I would presume), and I create them via a note. The to do item on the note greys out and disappears from the to do list.
Any assistance for either of these issues would be really appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Rhys

    Hi,
Do you have any add-in installed in your Outlook? If so, we may try to start Outlook in safe mode to see if this issue is caused by nay problematic add-in. To do this, press Windows key + R to open the Run command, type
outlook.exe /safe and press Enter. If this issue would be gone in safe mode, please go to File > Options > Add-ins and disable suspicious add-in to resolve the issue.
If this issue continues in Outlook safe mode, we may also try to login to webmail interface and check if this issue can be reproduced from there.
Please let me know the result.

  • Thousands of emails GONE!

Thousands of my "sent" emails and email in my trash folder are suddenly gone.
This is years of communications suddenly missing for no reason.
Would these emails be in a folder I don't know about in the harddrive? Does anyone else have this problem?
I was left with only a handful of emails sent recently.

    Jester
Not sure what email accouts your using, are you talking about iCloud, or was this perhaps the Apple Mail program.
If you could be more spacific I am sure someone might be able to help more

  • Retrieving Sent Emails (read further description...)

    Hello
Okay, Apple's "Mail" wasn't receiving new Emails, so I did as it said in 'Help' and moved all inbox items to a newly created Mailbox folder, before deleting my Email Account. But I wasn't thinking!! I had no idea it would erase my Sent items! (Duhh!)
I re-added my Email account and am pleased to say it now receives new messages, but, yep, all sent messages are gone from my previous year's use of Mail.
Is there any way ... ANY way at all I could get them back?? I also have a Time Capsule and Time Machine backs up every hour ... any chance I could use this somehow to retrieve my Sent emails? Or perhaps someone knows of a program which would retrieve deleted emails?
Thanks so much for any helpful answers

If you have a Time Machine backup, just launch Mail.app, select your Sent mailbox and invoke Time Machine. It should load your mailboxes in the Time Machine interface, from where you can select your sent messages and restore them to your mailbox.

  • Error Message on Sent Email

Frequently when I send mail and then go to look at it in my sent file this is what the message is. The body of the email I sent is gone and replaced by this message. The emails go through. Does anybody understand what this is about?
The message from (my first and last name) <my email mac account address here > concerning “the subject line of the email” has not been downloaded from the server. You need to take this account online in order to download it.

Hello, and welcome to the Discussions.
This message normally does not mean what it appears to say, but rather is the result of some errors with the index for all mailboxes.
You have a .mac account, correct? What Account Type have you used to set of the .mac subscription account?

  • I lose Sent email when trying to edit and resend it

Sometimes when using Apple Mail and trying to resend a Sent email, I click on the item in the Sent mail folder and there it is, in the Sent email panel.
But I forget to click on the "Resend" button and create a new window. Big mistake.
As soon as I type one character, the email disappears...not just into Trash, but for good! The emails are nowhere to be seen and there's no way to retrieve them.
The same thing used to happen with Microsoft Entourage, too. It's such a dramatic behavior, I'm surprised more people haven't complained. Am I the only one for whom this is happening? Is there a way to prevent it?
    Thanks for your thoughts.

But I forget to click on the "Resend" button and create a new window.
I didn't know there was a Resend button; is that new in 10.5?
As soon as I type one character, the email disappears...not just into Trash, but for good! The emails are nowhere to be seen and there's no way to retrieve them.
To start, you shouldn't even think you can edit a previously sent email; you cannot do that. Secondly, you don't need to open the email to Resend it; just select the message and choose Message > Resend from the menu bar.
Third, if you try to edit a previously sent email and it disappears, it's not gone (yet). As long as you don't quit Mail, the message is still there. You would need to look in Home/Library/Mail/your email account folder/Deleted Messages.mbox/Messages, and that's where you'll find those messages. You can then move them back to the Sent Messages.mbox folder for that account, after which you should quit Mail and restart it. If it doesn't find it upon restart, then you'll have to rebuild your entire Mail index.

  • Inbox and Sent emails just disappeared

45 minutes ago I went to check my mail on my computer and my inbox is empty! There was mail in it an hour ago, and then it just disappeared. I didn't change or move anything, the inbox was just empty. I then checked my sent box and all my sent emails were there, checked back 5 minutes later and their gone! The emails in my deleted and junk folders are still there. I checked online through icloud.com and Inbox and sent mail are empty there too, as well as my phone.
I say again, I didn't delete, move or change anything in my mail, it was there and then it was gone. Is anyone else having this happen? Where did my mail go?
I am running a intel Mac Pro tower with Lion 10.7.2 and a iphone 4 with IOS 5.1

For two or three days now, I've had to go online and log into www.me.com to check my Apple mail account because ALL the folders in Mail on my iMac were showing empty.  When looking at preferences to see if maybe something had gotten messed up there, I "registered" for MobileMe again, even though I'd chosen to "move to the iCloud" a few weeks ago.  Suddenly my mail reappeared on my iMac.  In Safari I was told I needed to "move to the iCloud" by June 30 (which I'd already done, as mentioned above) so I clicked it again.  So far, my mail folders and their contents are showing up on my computer, but who knows how long it will last.
I've also been having problems with my iPod Touch - accessing my mail.  I keep getting a message that my password is incorrect, but it's the same password that I've been using to log in online.  Weird.

  • Old Emails and all Sent Emails blank?

I signed on to my Gmail account today from Mail, and one Email from June 30th and all before that are blank...? I can see the message there but i click it to see it but nothing comes up. Also all of my Sent emails were just deleted.

I too am having the same problem.  So far only one person has informed me of this and it is another BT user.  They are from about a month ago.  I remember some time ago I deleted an email by mistake and asked if it was possible for it to be reinstated.  I was told that once emails had gone from the trash bin that they were gone, clearly that was not the truth.  So far the emails have only gone to the original recipient which, although irritating, not the end of the world but what if they were to be sent to others.  This could clearly cause embarrassment or other issues.  Why is there no recognition from BT that this is happening.  If this is connected with the changeover of server then I suggest they get a move on as the service form BT all round has deteriorated to an all time low at present.  Can anyone from BT actually explain what is going on here.

  • Lost all sent email on iCloud ?

Seems like I lost all my sent emails on icloud today...anybody experience the same problem.

I'm having a similar issue but in regard to all my emails in my Inbox.
Interestingly, I still have a few emails going back to 2007 and 2008 in the inbox but everything from then to know is gone on my Mac in Apple Mail.
My emails appear to still be on my iOS devices and online in iCloud just lost on my MacBook Pro.
I called Apple Support and they want to charge me $20 to help me even though I'm already PAYING for my iCloud account, not the free version.

  • Sent emails missing after ios 5 upgrade

After upgrading to ios 5, all sent emails are missing from my iPad 1.

From what I recall, I updated all of my apps first.  After attempting to sync the updated apps to my phone, I got a message stating something like "The app Numbers cannot be synced to this device".  I made a few more attempts at syncing with the same result, I decided to just update the OS and maybe things will work again.  After upgrading to iOS 5, I was able to reinstall numbers, but all of my spreadsheets were gone.
Ruining my phone sounds less than ideal.    Any ideas?

  • Sent emails disappear since migration

Most of my Sent emails are missing from the Sent box since migration from BT Yahoo to new BT in mid June. That's hundreds of emails gone, only a few dozen left. In box is behaving ok. Online chat said to phone the helpline (0800 111 4567).  He said I had go to Tech Expert as it's a problem with my equipment.  But I have to pay a subscription for this service, and it's the same problem on laptop and netbook (windows, IE9), so I think it's a BT server issue (I was hacked and emptied out on 20 May, most emails replaced but not all). I can't get anyone at BT to address it. Here's the thing - I can see ALL my Sent emails on the iPod, thank goodness (but can't print them). So I'm having to send the ones I need back to my inbox, one by one. Any ideas?

Might be worth trying another browser - Firefox is generally regarded as superior to IE anyway. Once you've got the Sent box back, I'd advise using an email client such as Thunderbird to store your stuff on your computer (properly backed up) rather than trust a remote server to look after it.

  • READING SENT EMAIL AND RETRIEVING DRAFTS

    Hello; another newby here........
I live in the US, have done so for 3 years, and have never had a problem with BT Yahoo Email. Thats all I use BT for. Obviously my BB provider is NOT BT, it is a local company, but this is clearly not a BB issue. I pay BT a very small monthly subscription for email service.
Using my laptop, I am receiving emails as normal. I can send emails as normal. And my corrrespondents are receiving them. But I cannot open any emails in my sent box. I also cannot retrieve half written draft emails. I can see my sent emails on my smart phone. So, something has gone wrong in my laptops settings. I have not consciously made any changes to my laptop. When I try to open emails from my sent box, a message appears on the right in a box under the heading ADBVERTISMENT and it reads exactly this:
    document write ("smart tag Error: malformed URL - st_rejected_query");
Can anybody offer any advise as to what may have happened? Like so many on here, I am not PC savvy, so it may be glaringly obvious. Thanks in advance for your tips.
    Peter

Its one of a number of Yahoo issues and there is very little BT Retail ISP can do about it.
As your ISP is not BT, all you can do is complain to Yahoo directly.

Since then my sent emails from the last year are gone.
What and How did this happen?
I checked my yahoo address @ sbc global and the sent are gone.

Unfortunately, there is no way to select them all at once to delete them. You do have to select one at a time.
